Update: FYE is offering B1G1 free on all PS2 games purchased 2/24/09-3/24/09. This should work with clearance games too. Details are here.

Some CAGs posted in earlier threads (namely the 50% off Xbox/GC/GBA thread) that they found some random PS2 games marked way low (Gradius V for $4.99, etc.)

I noticed while shopping over at Wherehouse.com (also owned by TransWorld, parent company of FYE) that the "New" prices on games were recently changed to match what CAGs had reported finding at FYE. Since Wherehouse and FYE are both owned by the same company, the new prices listed at Wherehouse.com *should* match up with FYE in-store.

As best as I can tell, FYE quietly marked down hundreds of older (mostly released in 2000-2005) PS2 games in the past month. I compiled the following list "by hand" by checking individual prices on http://www.wherehouse.com .

Many of these titles are quite old, so finding any one individual title will be YMMV. (Good luck on finding Ico, Suikoden III, etc.!) However, if you have a well-stocked store, you should be able to find a few in the list.

ALSO, one of the two stores I checked out just had a MASSIVE restock of old games, some of which I have not seen new in years (.hack//OUTBREAK, Dual Hearts, etc.). The manager said that they got a lot of stock in from closed stores, so it may be worth rechecking stores that previously had nothing.

FAQ Time!

Q: How do I check the price of a game not in the list below?
A: Go to http://www.wherehouse.com and search for the game. Click through to the game's individual page. The "new" price should match the "new" price in-store at FYE.

Q: How do I check the price of a game in stores?
A: You can use the kiosk stands that have headphones. For more info, see my blog post on GameHoarders.

Q: Which stores will have these prices?
A: These prices should be good at any TransWorld-owned store: FYE, Sam Goody, Wherehouse, Coconuts, Strawberries, etc.

Q: Will Backstage Pass take another 10% off?
A: Yes.

Q: Are these prices good on used items too?
A: No. The "used" prices on Wherehouse.com should match used products in store.

This list is INCOMPLETE and consists of titles that I and other CAGs have looked up. Check Wherehouse.com if you're looking for a specific title. Also post below if you find anything that I missed.
Here is a list of all FYE games under $10:

http://www.slashbunny.com/fye.html

Some games in the OP are not in this list because for some reason they don't show up when you browse page-by-page, but they are there if you search. Strange...
As far as I can tell, only items that are in stock used will show up when you browse, whereas if you search, you can find a title no matter if Wherehouse has a copy in stock or not.

Please post if you find any notable titles that I have missed, post em and I will update the OP.

Happy hunting! Bonus points to anyone who nabs a $0.99 title... I've yet to find any.

Are they actually tagged at those prices?
I highly doubt they are tagged properly. FYE seems to never retag stuff (around here, at least)

Yeah, of the games I got today, only Haunting Ground was correctly marked at $7.99. Everything else was marked much higher.

Most of the games I got were not tagged correctly . Big Shock ! They NEVER seem to redo the prices , Like with FE and BWII you would never know they were $9.99 a piece , cause they didnt even put sales tags on them . But not retagging usually means they will still have the games in stock .

At the 2 stores that I visited, everything was tagged correctly, which was kind of a miracle given that, yes, it's FYE.

A couple more I noticed on the website:

Armored Core 2 - $4.99
Armored Core 2: Another Age - $4.99
Shaman King - $4.99
Skygunner - $4.99

some things i've found on the site also

:ps2:
futurama - 0.99
midway arcade treasures 2 - 4.99
ring of red - 7.99
final fantasy x - 4.99
crazy taxi - 2.99
tekken 4 - 4.99
tekken tag tournament - 4.99
frequency - 7.99

:xbox:
futurama - 9.99

Picked up GH Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance tonight for $4.99 Was cheaper with the backstage pass. :) For the size of my FYE I was really disappointed with their PS2 selection. They have a ton of Xbox games though. I'm willing to trade sealed Xbox for sealed PS2 games. PM me with your wants!

went to my local fye today and it had been cleaned out. Hope another CAG'er at least got the games at fayette mall (lexington)

Yeah I went to 3 different FYEs and got nada. Everquest Online for $0.01 and Frequency for $7.99 but that's it. I have a hard time believing that people are finding games like Fatal Frame III and Ephemeral Fantasia in this day and age at all, forget about clearance. Call me a naysayer :)

I think Ephemeral Fantasia is the only RPG game I ever wanted to burn into a very slow death. Multiple times.

I looked up FYE online yesterday and found out I had one in Ft Worth, but they only sold used games when I dropped by today. Very overpriced used games.

FYE in Tysons Corner, VA was a big bag of nuthin'. There were some decent used games, but not a single title on the clearance list....

hey slappybob, which one in austin did yougo to? the one in lakeline mall? i thought they had games, as i was going to go there friday or possibly tomorrow before work...

My local FYE had a copy of Grandia II which at first rang up at 99 cents when I asked how much it was, then when he rang it up again it went to $7.99. Didn't really try to fight it since I already had a copy but it does suck. They also had a copy of Devil Summoner tagged at $34.99, then when it was rung up it went up to $49.99 so no pickup for me.

I found nothing worth mentioning at Stratford Square in Illinois. Shelves were unnaturally barren, however, which, when coupled with the fact that the Bloomingdale area is always picked-over as soon as a new deal hits the CAG/SD/FW pulse, leads me to believe that someone in the know has already been there. Whoever this shaq-fuing guy who always clears out any deal immediately is, he's probably reading this post right now with a cocky smirk on his face. THAT WAS MY GRADIUS V, YOU JERK!!!

Just kidding!
But seriously, get a job other than deal-hunting, buddy.

I know what you mean about EF. It was the first RPG I played on PS2 and got it because the cover art was pretty cool. Possibly the worst RPG I've ever played. Luckily I had only rented it.

Picked up Suikoden tactics yesterday. $8 isn't too bad I think.

Any St. Louis CAGs been to the FYE in the Galleria mall by any chance? I haven't had a chance to check it out (not even sure they sell games there anyway), but I'd be curious to know if anyone's hit it already.

Lol yeah I used to work there, Ps2 section was pretty laughable.
i hate this.. >.< my FYE doesnt sell games....well at least not the crenshaw mall one ha
LOL yeah, that one and the one in the Magic Johnson complex at La Tijera and Centinela don't sell any games. Eff this noise, I'm not about to go trekking out to the Torrance location only to find nothing on this list...

Lakeforest Mall, Gaithersburg - nothing good for PS2 besides XIII for $7 (and even that is not that great).

However XBOX and Gamecube games were all half off - that might make some of the prices for those games halfway reasonable.

You wouldn't find much at the Torrance one even if you did go. I went yesterday in the hopes of finding either of the Fatal Frame Games, Ghost Hunter, Haunting Ground, or R-Type, but came up with zip. I didn't really spot anything from the lists that people have posted and I took the time to look through everything they had (think I saw one of those .hack games, but that's about it). Don't know if they had been cleared out recently or if it has been that way for a while, but either way, no joy. It sucks because I've wanted Fatal Frame forever, big fan of survival horror.

Question- if a store has a decent sized PS2 section but not much good stuff right now, is it worth checking back a couple of weeks later in case they get more stuff in to clear, or no?

Victor NY Eastview Mall didn't have much left, good size ps2 section but no old .hacks, suikodens or anything. I only got Guilty Gear Isuka...

I would ask an employee if they're getting any new games shipped in from other closing stores, otherwise I doubt there will be anything new unless someone finds some games that were hidden in storage.

Yeah, I visited the Torrance location last week and they didn't have any of those titles either. I believe that .Hack you saw was a used copy of the first one which isn't part of the sale. I doubt they were cleared out as it actually looked better stocked than the last time I visited in November. By the way, the Burbank location literally has no new games at all, just shelves full of used junk.

Almost every FYE in my area stopped carrying games. I went to one I hadn't been to in close to a year and they didn't have games. I also checked 2 Radio Shack's no games at either of them either. Kind of a bad day for finding deals.

Total bust at my FYE. They have a ton of stuff, and a ton of stuff I want, but unfortunately almost nothing from this list specifically.

Swansea, Ma and Dartmouth, Ma are the only two FYEs I've encountered so far that have quite a bit of PS2 games. Nothing I particularly wanted.

Things i've seen at Swansea:

:ps2:
Silpheed - 4.99
Gungrave - 4.99
Unlimited Saga - 7.99

:wii:
Batallion Wars 2 - 9.99

Wherehouse.com's inventory changes daily, so I'm sure if you ran your program (?) tomorrow, you would get a slightly different list.

Very helpful list, thanks, I will add it to the OP.
With Romance of the Three Kingdoms VII, there are two versions. Once contains a sticker UPC over the original and that one I believe rings up $19.99. The one without the sticker over the UPC should scan for $4.99.
Maybe this is the reason the Zatch Bell I found rang up for $19.99. I'll check next time I go.
It looks like FYE follows the Gamestop model of selling "new" games by gutting them. At least the FYE copies were still mint, which is more than I can say for the often scuffed up GS "new" games (it must be the baggies GS uses).
Unfortunately, yes, it seems so. All the Wii games at my store are gutted, and a large number of last-gen games are resealed. I have already passed over a few of the PS2 clearance games because they were reseals.

Luckily, the PS3, 360, and DS games are all in security boxes, unmolested. I hope they stay that way.

What's most unnerving is that I bought a copy of Eternal Darkness "new" from the 50% off GC clearance. It was in a baggie
and not new
. I opened it up to find the original owner's EB Games receipt from 2002. Ironically, buying it "new" on clearance was cheaper than FYE's used price.

Pretty much a total bust at both OKC locations. I saw a Twisted Metal Black, but it was ringing up for $7.99 instead of $.99. I also saw Siren and Mad Maestro, but those are the same prices that I could get at GameStop. I had the list of games with me and started entering the titles at a FYE Info kiosk at the middle of the store. Most (60-70%) of the prices that were given at the start of the thread were listed as new prices, but not the used price. For instance, Rayman 2 was had a new price of $.99, but a used price of $7.99. Weird. Both of these stores were not selling new games anymore, just used ones.

EDIT: Wow, I just read the updated OP. Man, do I feel like an idiot thinking this was for used. Oh well, got a good deal on their 3 for $10 on DVDs they were having.

Viewtiful Joe 3 GC is one of those games that is not half off which i found out by to try it and they said no it not half off so left without getting it

is that short enough
I'm not sure what's going on in the post above mine, but I don't think I like it.
In Soviet Russia, PS2 Clearances You.

Now I know why I never shop at FYE. Their Games selection was tiny and all used. Not one single new game for sale. In fact I'd say that 80% of the entire store was used. It's a very large Strip Mall location, like the size of a a Borders, but it was all used. Looked like a pawn shop frankly.

Got Everquest Online Adventures for a penny. DDR Ultramix 2 Bundle for XBox tagged $69.99, scanned $39.99, I thought all XBox games were 75% off so I left it.

Well, it was a bust for me at the 3 I went to. Figures that the moment theres a deal on the Alpha Anthology, its not even to be had anywhere here...

wow. total bust. I drove over 2 hours today to 3 FYE locations looking to buff up my ps2 and gamecube collection. One FYE didnt sell games. Another FYE had a big selection of games, but were all used and selling for outrageous prices. Used Star Wars Force Unleased for XBOX360? $52......

the last FYE I went to had new games, but nothing special, and the games were ringing up at retail price.... :(

im very disapointted. all that wasted gas for nothing...

Not much from the main list of note, but I did manage to pick up a few things over the last couple days at two different stores. Barely any of it was marked at the correct prices, so the self-scanner on the game aisle was a godsend! All new and only four of the PS2 games are missing the white security stripe;) Thanks OP!

You mean The Guy Game, right? I already have a copy of that for the XBox, which I think it cost me $10 to buy from my local pawn shop.

I saw another copy just recently at a local FYE for $15 used(or $7.50 rather with the 50% clearance on Xbox/GC/GBA titles), but I don't play my Xbox as it is, so I wouldn't have needed a second copy.
