Update: FYE is offering B1G1 free on all PS2 games purchased 2/24/09-3/24/09. This should work with clearance games too. Details are here.

Some CAGs posted in earlier threads (namely the 50% off Xbox/GC/GBA thread) that they found some random PS2 games marked way low (Gradius V for $4.99, etc.)

I noticed while shopping over at Wherehouse.com (also owned by TransWorld, parent company of FYE) that the "New" prices on games were recently changed to match what CAGs had reported finding at FYE. Since Wherehouse and FYE are both owned by the same company, the new prices listed at Wherehouse.com *should* match up with FYE in-store.

As best as I can tell, FYE quietly marked down hundreds of older (mostly released in 2000-2005) PS2 games in the past month. I compiled the following list "by hand" by checking individual prices on http://www.wherehouse.com .

Many of these titles are quite old, so finding any one individual title will be YMMV. (Good luck on finding Ico, Suikoden III, etc.!) However, if you have a well-stocked store, you should be able to find a few in the list.

ALSO, one of the two stores I checked out just had a MASSIVE restock of old games, some of which I have not seen new in years (.hack//OUTBREAK, Dual Hearts, etc.). The manager said that they got a lot of stock in from closed stores, so it may be worth rechecking stores that previously had nothing.

FAQ Time!

Q: How do I check the price of a game not in the list below?
A: Go to http://www.wherehouse.com and search for the game. Click through to the game's individual page. The "new" price should match the "new" price in-store at FYE.

Q: How do I check the price of a game in stores?
A: You can use the kiosk stands that have headphones. For more info, see my blog post on GameHoarders.

Q: Which stores will have these prices?
A: These prices should be good at any TransWorld-owned store: FYE, Sam Goody, Wherehouse, Coconuts, Strawberries, etc.

Q: Will Backstage Pass take another 10% off?
A: Yes.

Q: Are these prices good on used items too?
A: No. The "used" prices on Wherehouse.com should match used products in store.

This list is INCOMPLETE and consists of titles that I and other CAGs have looked up. Check Wherehouse.com if you're looking for a specific title. Also post below if you find anything that I missed.
Here is a list of all FYE games under $10:

http://www.slashbunny.com/fye.html

Some games in the OP are not in this list because for some reason they don't show up when you browse page-by-page, but they are there if you search. Strange...
As far as I can tell, only items that are in stock used will show up when you browse, whereas if you search, you can find a title no matter if Wherehouse has a copy in stock or not.

Please post if you find any notable titles that I have missed, post em and I will update the OP.

Happy hunting! Bonus points to anyone who nabs a $0.99 title... I've yet to find any.
Maybe this is the reason the Zatch Bell I found rang up for $19.99. I'll check next time I go.

In case anyone's waiting for the thrilling conclusion to this mystery, I checked it out again yesterday and "Mamodo Battle" had the price tag for "Mamodo Fury." I had the cashier scan the UPC and it came up correctly as $4.99, so I got it. :bouncy:

I'll do some updates to the OP.

I picked up Everquest Online Adventures(PS2) from an out of the area FYE yesterday for .01. It was even MARKED .01, so the clerk didn't even bat an eye when ringing it up for me. If for nothing, it's good for a spare case should I need one, since I DOUBT the servers for it are still up at this point.

I also picked up two copies of the Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom(PS3) game guide there for .01 each as well. I was going to have more of the older guides price checked, but I was running short on time and decided not to.

EDIT: As it turns out EQ online is still going strong, so maybe that penny purchase wasn't so useless after all. But does anyone know what kind of fees might be associated with playing the game online?

So there is definitely some sort of clearance at ALL fye's rite? Because anytime there are clearance/good deals at places like BB,Target,B.buster, etc its never in NYC (queens specifically)

I'm definitely going to say it'll depend on two things: 1) whether or not the prices had to be updated in the system and if they're not you may not get the price the games here have been listed for and 2) the fact that some employees may view a lower price as an 'error' and override it back to sticker price.

I don't know for certain whether or not the prices need to be manually updated, which is the case with some retail outlets, but if that IS the case then you may find this sale to be YMMV.

I didn't have any of the games that I saw yesterday from this sale/clearance(Romancing Saga, for one)price checked since I was short on time, but since FYE and Wherehouse are part of the same chain(Transworld Entertainment) their prices SHOULD be universal.

Cool,Thanks for the info (think I'll head to 1 or 2 stores)

I spoke to a friend of mine that works for FYE & he told me that he saw some signage for an upcoming PS2 sale, so I'm awaiting that. He works in the backroom as the receiver.

Got another haul today:

Batman: Rise of Sin Tsu (Commemorative Edition with action figure) -- $7.99
Guilty Gear Isuka - $4.99
Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII -- $7.99
Shining Force Neo -- $7.99
Silpheed -- $4.99
Soul Calibur II -- $7.99
I saw a gutted copy of the Bouncer. The price could not be found in the system. (Same for Phantom Brave.)

Also picked up Jeanne D'arc for $9.99 (my nearest store has been sold out since it went on sale). Great game... I've already beaten it before, but don't mind having another copy.

Also, I finally took advantage of the offer to trade in your Circuit City Gamers card for an extra Backstage Pass.

Any update on that PS2 sale signage, mentioned above?

On Friday night I saw a sign at my local FYE advertising a buy 1 PS2 game get 1 free after rebate. Maybe this is the sale that's mentioned above?

Holy cow, there are some games I would totally pick up depending on how this works

This is a bit off topic, but is music4less/musicforasong owned by the same chain fye is? If not, I wonder if they're clearancing ps2/x-box/GC games too?

No, they are not owned by TransWorld (fye parent company). *sigh* I miss that chain though...... all of the stores that were in my usual travels have closed one by one over the past decade.

Only reason i asked is because sometimes they do get FYE/Transworld's exclusives oddly enough. But anyways, Yeah, the one near me has massive amounts of new/sealed PS2 games, some really good stuff. I am suprised they're still around with the way the economy is.

What the hell happened to the Xbox/GC/GBA clearance thread for FYE? I did a search and couldn't find it.

I scored the following yesterday:

Baten Kaitos Origins(GC)
Circus Maximus(Xbox)
Everquest Online Adventures(PS2)

Funny thing is, this is the SECOND store to have a copy of EQ: OA out clearly marked .01 and the second one to not give me any problem with picking it up for that price.

b1g1 was done manually at Horton Plaza sam goody Downtown San Diego, but as soon as I left with my pathetic two games, a manager scolded the cashier and took down the signs they had in the PS2 section which said b1g1, but nothing about a mail in rebate. I got Romancing saga, Suikoden tactics, Shining force Neox2 for $17 bucks and change and they gave me a 40% off used dvd/Cd coupon.

There's a music for less about an hour away from me in a huge outlet mall and they have the best deals on used blu rays.. I bought the RE 3 disc bluray set marked as used to $12.99, went home opened it and the discs were still sealed, couldn't believe it.

If anyone happens to see any of these i'd appreciate if you could snag em for me.

.hack//MUTATION -- $4.99
.hack//OUTBREAK -- $4.99
Ephemeral Fantasia -- $0.99
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - $4.99

My FYE is a ghost town, should be closing soon i believe.

too bad my fye lost their lease otherwise i would have benefited from this sale. The store didn't have a big section anyways, so i am sure i would not find most of the games listed up there even if they were still open today.

Went to FYE yesterday and saw a PS2 B1G1 sign, but in small print on the bottom it said "after mail-in rebate". There wasn't much to pick from in the PS2 section either.

I went last night to the one in owensboro ky. They didn't really have that many to chose from but I did come across Buffy Chaos Bleeds. I have been waiting for awhile to get that at gamestop and it never seems to be in stock I got Galereans Ash for free. Doubt I'll ever even play it. Selection sucked there so much I just grabbed something just because I wanted to play buffy.

Anybody have any success with the mail-in rebate? I'm tempted to go pick a few games up, but the B1G1 is the deal breaker.

Oh... my god. Just had an epic FYE find. (For me, anyway.)

My FYE store just restocked some clearance PS2 games, presumably from another store.

mgs2sealed.jpg

Sealed MGS2 Greatest Hits for $4.99. That's going directly into my collection, do not pass go, do not collect $200. (Though perahps one day I might be able to collect the $200 on it.)

The stand-alone MGS2 has been out of print since long before the Essentials box. What's super lucky for me is that I almost bought a copy for $35 with torn cellophane on eBay last week. So happy now that I didn't.

This copy is in great shape. The cellophane's a bit dull from shelf wear but there are no tears.

Sealed of course.

The cheapest new copy on Amazon is $44.99. It doesn't specify GH or black, so probably GH. The cheapest sealed copy on Half.com is $79.99 for black.

Usually there is only 1 or 2 sealed standalone copies on eBay at any given time that I've looked.

I'm pretty stoked about finding it since it's something I wanted for my personal collection.

Question about the rebate for you guys, I bought Halo 3 and on the rebate step 2 it asks to send in the UPC. Do I have to cut it out from the back of the game cover or can I just take the sticker price from the plastic seal (the price sticker on the plastic seal that have the bar code).

Thanks.

I should post my findings! Came home with:
:ps2: Final Fantasy XI Vana'diel Collection
:ps2: MGS 3 Subsistence
:ps2: God Of War II (non GH)
:ps2: Kingdom Hearts Chain Of Memories
:ps2: Resident Evil The Essentials Bundle
:ps2: Wild Arms 3
:ps2: Wild Arms 5
:ps2: Atelier Iris 3 Grand Phantasm
:ps2: Bloody Roar 4
:ps2: Armored Core 3
:ps2: Killzone (non GH)

and a few others. They were just stocking most of these out when I got there so I got to pick off their cart nefore it hit the shelf!:bouncy:

I was told by the FYE employee when I bought my Halo 3 to send in the Price sticker that has the bar code only. Others said the same in the Halo 3 FYE rebate deal thread, so we should be safe doing that.

I just got back from FYE over here and they had a used Black Label copy of metal gear solid 2. It was $9.99 and i wasn't really interested so I put it back. They also had Suidoken V for ps2 but dammit it rang up full price!!! ($39.99) All they had left was a bunch of 75% off xbox sports titles and some crappy GBA games I passed on. (all used).

All I picked up was Romancing Saga (PS2) for $7.99.

Marked @ $39.99 but rang as 7.99
