I went to the FYE in Elizabeth, NJ today and had an interesting experience. FYI, the selection of games there was fairly bad but not nearly as bad as some others have described. They had Splinter Cell, the new EA sports games, and one last copy of Saints Row, but otherwise it was pretty barebones. Anyway, I made sure to call before going and getting the manager's name, which turned out to be very important when I got there. There were no signs there mentioning the sale, and apparently the store doesn't take trade-in's on weekends because they're busy, which the manager never mentioned to me over the phone when telling me the details of the deal. Needless to say, I was pretty mad that I was about to be denied the deal because the manager forgot to tell me they didn't take in trade-in's on the weekends although I talked to him about an hour before heading over there.
So I wait around for a while, and the assistant manager I spoke to got the okay from the manager I spoke to to let me partake in the deal after I dropped his name; I would've been turned away if I didn't get the name on the phone before going. I traded in NBA 2K6 and Table Tennis (which I just got in the mail the day before from Outpost.com for $15 and got bored of very quickly) for Splinter Cell: DA. She messed up when doing it so I didn't have to pay a thing, which was nice.
The PS2 games were a bit more of a hassle. The minimum value they had to ring up as was $1, so some of the games I brought didn't work (NBA Live 2003, City Crisis, etc.). I ended up getting four to work, which I traded for Bully. I'm probably going to keep it sealed though and try to return it for store credit when Gears of War comes out.
I decided to make one more go at the deal and went to the EB Games in the mall to take advantage of the B2G1 free deal on used games. I got NBA Live 2006, another NBA 2K6, and the '06 2KSports college bball game for ~$37 with the EBEdge card and traded two of them for Saints Row. They couldn't find any new copies, so I ended up just taking the display copy, which I was cool with.
In the end I made out with Splinter Cell: DA for $15 (for the Table Tennis I had just bought... the NBA 2K6 I played the hell out of for about a year now and replaced with 2K7 recently), Bully for like Half-Life, Arc the Lad: TotS, and some other junk for free (lady forgot to charge tax), and Saints Row for ~$37 (for the EBGames purchase), and I have a spare good condition game to trade in from EBGames.
They didn't let me trade in any XBOX games or go cross-platform with the deal, which is understandable. I'm going to try the one in Woodbridge, NJ sometime though. If they don't let me trade PS2 games in for 360 games then I'll just take PS2 games and return them for store credit for the onslaught of awesome games coming out in November. Great deal OP - this completely outdoes the TRU annual B2G1 free sale (which I look forward to every year usually) if you have a FYE that's participating in the promotion.
