Game Commercials That Piss You Off

dudecool320

CAGiversary!
I am tired of game commercials that try to sell you the game based on the cutscenes and flashy graphics instead of actual gameplay. Last night I saw commercials for Unreal II and Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition that didn't show actual gameplay, just a bunch of CG cutscenes.:booty: Does this piss anyone else off, and if not, what kind of game commercials do?

Commercials that only show CG cutscenes (pretty much all of them) but than again commercials are a way for the companies to appeal to the avg. gamer and they work really well for the most part.
those wrachet and clank videos, i just found them irratating in a small way
Well, at least you won't have to worry about that with the 4th installment, given that they're sucking all the whimsy and joy out of the game. There will probably be some nice, generic nu-metal, though.

What are they giving it baditude, or something?

Haven't you seen any previews for it yet? It's like R&C...TO THE XTREME!

I think it's interesting that games being "too mature" are a bad thing now (especially with all of the Nintendo smack-talk that goes around). People are actually getting mad when games like PoP, Jak, and R&C are getting matured up.

Maybe gamers have finally had their fill, and are snapping against it. Kind of like the breast-implant backlash that's been going on for awhile.

I have nothing against mature games, but I don't like what gets jammed into otherwise fun, family-friendly platformers in the name of it. I don't need a more 3dgy Mario or Ratchet. That's not why I buy these games. I have other titles if I want a more mature atmosphere.

PSP, Xbox, and EA commercials are all pretty obnoxious.

One of the commercials I hated most was the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within commercial. That horrible music hurt my head, and just seeing the ad made me weep for what has become of that series.

Commericals are a visual medium. The only way you can really present them is graphically. Even if you show gameplay movies on a commercial they are still going to focus on the graphics. A 30 second commercial is simply to gain interest from the broadest range of customers possible. It will never be enough to show a good portion of gameplay. They are expensive to produce and they have to immediately grab the viewers attention.
I hate that gamefly commercial where the guy runs to his mailbox and gets this stupid grin on his face.
I hate the one (it may be the same one) where he runs to the postman, grabs his games, and slams the door. Then, he opens them with that shit eating grin on his face. Why must they depict all of us gamers as 25 year old nerds that live with our parents?! (Although, some of you may fit that depiction...)

Any time I saw a commercial for True Crime I wanted to throw a brick through my television screen.

Man I hate that game.

Hey, I'm 30, and I'm only moving back because my mom is not well.....

I can't stand the commercials for the PSP. IMO they're just retarded. I also hate those game commercials, and commercials in general that do this, that show you different scenes of various things and then at the last moment they tell you what the whole point of the commercial was. It's like they are trying to sell you something but you don't even know what that something is.

exactly, its like they're saying, "you dont need to know what it does, its cool, dammit!"
It's not just commercials - I really have a problem with games being marketed based on their "graphics", etc. That's crap.
my friend the other day, after seeing a forza commercial said "that games graphics suck, that games gonna suck", he does not own an xbox, and owns GT4, i mean c'mon GT4's good, but no online

At least we don't have to see those awful N-Gage commercials anymore. I'm sure you guys remember "This is where I snapped" and all that other crap.

I know a guy like that named Tim, he gets a boner when I say the word videogame.:booty:

I was just about to say that. It's like the people who made the commercial are trying to make fun of gamers. :bomb:

LOL. Shit-eating grin is the perfect expression to describe that son bitch. I hate that commercial. On a slightly related note, I liked the RE 4 commercials that they played with actual in-game footage and the game doesnt really have any spoilers to give away.

Yeah - the review I read said "Ratchet has gone all Master Chief"

Totally roxxorz my soxxorz

I said xtreme, not XTREME TO THE MAX
