Game Crazy: 5 for $5 Classic Plastic

Toren

CAG Veteran
GameCrazy (at least mine in Oklahoma City) just changed their Classic Plastic deal to buy 5 for $5 instead of the previous 2 for $5. Of course, everything has pretty much been farmed from these bins, especially since they stopped taking games 6 monts ago, but I figured I'd spread the word.

YMMV, my district was supposed to go to 5 for $5 this past Sunday but it didn't.

Classic Plastic is anything PS1 and back.

sadly the GC near me cleared out last year, they don't even have classic plastic anymore :(

I did get like 10 PSone games from them in 2007, now.. they have nothing

They have nothing but crap left at my GC. All I saw were sports games at my GC... I honestly don't think people would be willing to buy those games for even a $1.

My nearest GC, which is actually not anywhere near me, still has a lot of NES games. It might be worth checking out over the weekend.

^ I don't think GBA has ever been an official part of the CP deals.
They got rid of not only the classic plastic at the GameCrazy that I went to, but they also got rid of the store itself!!!!
Same here - I hadn't been to the GC near me in a couple months and couldn't imagine that they would have been a location that might close. I went recently to check for $.01 guides and the store was empty. :whistle2:?

Is there anything left for this sale? I went out back when they had their first classic plastic and found good stuff, but I can't imagine anything left is worth being picked up.
Are GBA games included? Last time i went, I magically got Boktai included with my classic plastic deal.
Nice. From my experience, no, just GBC and GB. Last time around I grabbed SMB Deluxe, a few Pokemon (Gold, Silver, Crystal), Rainbow Six, and some others. The guy was pretty nice. Threw in Pokemon Pinball for free because it wasn't in the system. Not super hot games, but fun for the price.

Of course that Hollywood Video shut down soon after...

I've been to that OKC location (the only one in OKC). There was really nothing there when I went for the 2 for $5. I can't imagine anything good left at all.

I managed to find Secret of Evermore for the SNES last time they had the 5 for $5.00 so its worth the look, but you'd have to be extremely lucky to find anything other than really old sports games...

Damn & my GC just shipped their remaining CP stock to another district. Guess I'll have to check the other stores in the area to see if they still have their stock & if it's 5 for $5.

I recall buying all the good classic games before I left, and that was after they stopped taking them in. I would think that it would be a challenge to find five games worth purchasing at this point...

Thanks for the information, OP. I still might check out one of the stores in my area.

Its not completley worthless to check. My gamecrazy still takes stuff in they just manual price the trade. Its still pretty rare to find stuff but every now and then there are some good 64 games
good luck

I picked up 3 decent games in the 3 for $10 classic plastic deal so I will probably give this a look as last time I went thru the bin I got;

Super Smash Bros-N64
Lufia 2 Rise of the Sinistrals-SNES
Battletoads Battlemaniacs-SNES

So not a bad haul even if Battletoads is infuriating:bomb:

today I picked up:

sega genesis 6 pak (worth it just for revenge of shinobi)
lion king
vectorman
bio-hazard battle (a game I used to have as a kid but lost)
mega man legends

not a bad haul for 5 bucks.

that must've been a LONG time ago, lol
Because Lord knows that they need to get rid of everything that makes them different than GS in a good way.
aint that the truth. GC has basically turned into GS near me. Its all about trying to sell you crap now and annoying sales staff constantly yappin

The best part of GC was classic plastic, and na0 its gone forever :(
They have nothing but crap left at my GC. All I saw were sports games at my GC... I honestly don't think people would be willing to buy those games for even a $1.
At our store we destroyed all the old sports games so that cut them down a lot.
I've been to that OKC location (the only one in OKC). There was really nothing there when I went for the 2 for $5. I can't imagine anything good left at all.
As another poster said, we sometimes take things in and manually price them to a dollar... that's how we got Virtua Fighter 2 for Saturn, Smash Bros, Super Mario 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Perfect Dark, and a handful of older 64 classic games recently. Though I'm pretty sure the store manager claimed them.

We still take the systems in as well, so it's not totally bad. I really do wish they hadn't stopped taking in Classic Plastic but oh well. As long as we don't get into trouble at my store for taking it in by manually pricing it, I'll be good.

Of course, there's times when we just take in a PSX game (like Chrono Cross) in as a PS2 game for around the same price (Final Fantasy X-2) it'd sell for normally.

I made a pretty good haul today. They had a tub thingy housing several hundred used PS1 games in sleeves with the Classic Plastic signage above it. Took about 30 minutes to sort through everything, but I got...

Colin McRae Rally
Bottom of the 9th '97
Caesars Palace 2000
Power Spike Pro Beach Volleyball (Hooray beach volleyball games)
Gex
Time Crisis Project Titan 2X
Namco Museum Volume 1
Blast Radius
Sky Diving Xtreme 2X
Incredible Crisis 4X
Brahma Force (I don't even know what the hell this is)
Star Wars Rebel Assault II

The rest range from scratched to pretty damn scratched and I'm going to take them back to be resurfaced. If they didn't already hate me for making them scan and manually adjust the price on 50-some PS1 games, they're gonna really enjoy resurfacing 40-some game discs (the guy said if any were scratched he would do it, so I'll hold him to it):

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Ultimate Fighting Championship
Evil Zone
Rampage: Through Time
A-Train
Guardian's Crusade 2X
Road Rash
Road Rash: Jailbreak
Dune 2000
Blast Chamber (I had a demo disc with this kinda ancient PS1 game on it)
Mary Kate and Ashley: Crush Course
Running Wild
G Darius
Treasures of the Deep
Rampage Universal Tour
Terry Pratchett's Discworld (Best find of all)
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider II
Tomb Raider III
The Powerpuff Girls: Chemical X-Traction
Blaster Master: Blasting Again
Gunfighter: The Legend of Jesse James
Big League Slugger: Baseball (Caught my interest for some reason)
X-Men Mutant Academy
GTA2
Rayman
Namco Museum Volume 3
Jet Moto 2
WCW Vs. The World
Dirt Jockey: Heavy Equipment Operator (I thought this was a horse racing game, haha. Oops)
Bogey Dead 6
Metal Gear Solid VR Missions
Syphon Filter 2X
Syphon Filter 2
Tomb Raider Chronicles
Disney's Atlantis
Play With The Teletubbies
Speed Punks

And I got a sealed Persona 3 for good measure. Seeing all those PS1 games gave me some intense flashbacks of working for Hollywood Video for two years starting in early 2000. Most of the games were former rentals.

I work at a game crazy and to answer some stuff, GBA is not included and never is for classic plastic. This is the last sale until all the games are gone. I work at a store in Rhode Island and there's only 2 of the 4 or 5 stores in RI that carry classic plastic, my store is one. I can tell you now, it REALLy is all sports games for SNES. 100%. lol NES is probably 95% sports games with some racing games and MAYBE 1 or 2 action games thrown in. N64 is also all sports. NOTHING with Mario's face on it is left. Also no goldeneye, perfect dark, starfox, smash bros, mario partys etc...etc...etc... you get my drift. You'll see thats true at majority of them but its still worth a look. We only get more when stores send them to us, and LOTS of stores do cuz we sell the classic plastic more than any other GC around here cuz we live in kind of a ghetto-like neighborhood, like borderline ghetto, so lots of people buying PS1s and whatnot instead of buying 360s and PS3s mainly cuz its cheaper but also cuz who the hell buys their 5 year old kid a $350-500 system? Only idiots.

But at my store sega genesis still has some decent stuff, as does PS1 but once again, NOTHING rare. But you can partially blame employees cuz we get first dibs...and I collect video games...so I get all the nice ones as do other employees, sorry guys. Thats the perk to being a game store employee. I got my Final Fantasy 2 and 3 there, my final fantasy 1, ninja gaiden 3, the list goes on and on. But I only buy CD based games complete so there's plenty there, same goes for Dcast although thats also mostly sports. I am sad to see the old games go cuz I got more than half my collection just by working at GC for 3 years...and I own 1800+ games so you do the math. But there's almost no RPGs left, i THINK I saw ONE granstream saga in there but no FF games at all no breath of fires or alundras or chrono cross or anything like that. Just your run of the mill normal old school games, no rarities left. OK im ranting, sorry guys. I just hate to see the old games go cuz thats what I love. I'd still prefer pacman over ANY new game.

I think my haul was OK. Picked most of them up because they seemed interesting, and they were only a dollar. Here's what I picked up:

Ace Combat 2
Blasto
Breath of Fire 3
Colony Wars: Vengeance
Fighting Force
Jade Cocoon
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Syphon Filter 3
Twisted Metal 3
Twisted Metal 4

Would have really liked to pick up Time Crisis: Project Titan, among others. Any chance of trades?

Die Hard Trillogy
Future Cop L.A.P.D

Tomb Raider II
Vigilante 8
Vigilante 8 2nd Offense

The Irvine, CA Game Crazy had a small pile of 5 for $5 Dreamcast games when I was there earlier today along with a few N64 cartridges. I flipped through but nothing really grabbed me.

I think my classic plastic binge to date has been pretty succesful, though I did all my work mainly when it was 3 for $10 and again a little at 2 for $5.

I've scored to date:

Tetris Plus (PS1) complete
King's Field (game and manual in generic slim case)
Zelda: Majora's Mask (gold illuminated logo cartridge)
Super Smash Bros.
Super Mario Kart
Metal Walker (GBC)
Donkey Kong Land III (GB)
Star Soldier (NES)
Lode Runner 3D (N64)
R-Type III (SNES)
Out of This World (SNES) (I actually bought this for $1.99, it was better than the 3 for $10 sale)
Gauntlet Legends (DC) disc only
Phantasy Star Online V.2 (DC) complete
Command and Conquer 64

And I remember this one time, they had a copy of Shining Force that I tried to buy, but they claimed they couldnt sell it because there was a loose chip inside, even though the game still played. The manager wouldn't do anything either, I really should have called corporate, but I doubt they'd have helped me in the case of a $2.50 game grr

That's all I can remember right now, though I'm sure I'm missing atleast a half dozen games
