Game of Thrones Season 2 Best Buy Exclusives Up for Pre-Order
From what I understand the only thing it included as an extra was a dragon egg paperweight, which you can buy at the HBO store. The keychain that came with the BB pre-order for the first version of Season 1 you can also get at the HBO store.
The egg was pretty cool- when season 2's gift set comes out, sounds like the HBO store will be the place to go since I've preordered from BB the Greyjoy set.

Well my Lannister edition is out for delivery but I'm tempted by Amazon's price (and that fact that it would cost me under $5 out of pocket thanks to credit)...guess I'll see how the cover looks when I get it before making a final decision.
Hope BB doesn't give me any trouble with a PM. Could just see them using the cover as an excuse.
That is my concern as well, shall see tomorrow.

Ordered last night.

Primes pretty awesome.

so if i remember correctly, it was only the DVD versions that had the exclusive slip-covers for the first season and now its only the BluRays that have the covers?

are the sizes of BluRay boxsets the same size as DVD boxsets? as in inches, like i know all of my single case BluRays are all slightly smaller than my single case DVDs.

The blu-ray version of Season 1 had slip covers, I would assume the reason only the blu-ray has slip covers this time around is because the blu-ray versions includes a DVD copy. The first season release didn't have a combo version until the Collector's Edition was released months later.

So the first season was a 5-disk set for both blu sets and dvd sets.

This season's blu with dvds set is a 7-disk set and the dvd set is still 5-disk.

So how the hell are they distributing episodes this time around? Will the dvds be double sided in the blu set? Is that a thing that people still do?

The Season 1 set bluray/dvd combo is 7 disks not 5 disks. Yes the 2 dvd disks in the combo pack are Dual layered double sided disks. They really are not meant to be the big part of the set, just a convenience really. No extras, just straight episodes for those weird times when no bluray (or digital access) is around.

The regular edition on BB just dropped to $29.99. The exclusive covers are still $34.99.
I didn't even know there was a blu/dvd combo for season 1.
It was included in the collector's edition.
do you guys think we will get a hard time trying to PM special slip covered versions to $29.99 price on amazon?
Yes, consider yourself very lucky if you get them to do it.
probably in a few months when they decide they want more money just like the first season
Is that what happened last time? The CE came out a few months later. Luckily frys and target are close, so I will price match. If they did something with a dragon or something else cool, I would pick it up.

It was nearly a year between the releases. The CE came out right around Black Friday.

I had a bunch of certificates ($20) due to expire in next month or so at BB, so went with them and in store pick up. I'll ask about price match, but figure they won't go for it.

Can somebody post unpacking pics or thoughts about the BB slipcover editions...I'm on the fence whether to spend the extra $5 if it simply just a slipcover.
Price matching will most likely not work on the slipcovers. Not when they have the regular edition for $29.99 which can be price matched.
Mine PM'd Amazon/Target without question. It may or may not have had to do with the fact that the girl there enjoyed the show (and my 8-bit GoT T-shirt ;)).

As able to price match with Target on the exclusive :p But derped and forgot my $15 gift card >.< Too lazy to drive back to grab them, $20 still good though :D

Got the price match of the Greyjoy slipcover at Best Buy. Throw in the $25 in RZ I had, I walked out with $5.34 less in my wallet.

Looks like the two DVDs can be easily sold on Ebay for around $20.

Thank you very grumpy, very apathetic, older Best Buy Transaction Specialist!

I am going to end up pulling a 16 hour shirt today so I wont get a chance to pick-up my Best Buy pre-order till tomorrow afternoon. When I pre-ordered it was only for the generic version of the Blu-ray set and the covers were going to be on a first come first serve basis. What are the chances they will still have sets with the exclusive covers tomorrow?

EDIT: Called store and they are going to hold a copy of the Lannister edition for me.

I was able to pm FRYS at target but heads up you should try and keep the cache page from google loaded up on your phone in case
Just google "7424375" and it should be first link and hit cached, and you can show them that.

Also there were only 2 copies at my Target with the Bonus Disc on the shelf that I could see, so may me limited as always YMMV.

Wow, was the first season bb exclusive like that? That's gorgeous. I thought it was just that thin piece of cardboard over the set.

FYI I just came back from Costco since I needed to restock my fridge and see their GoT S2 booklet & $.
I saw a bunch of the special ed. of GoT S2 w/ the 72pg booklet. It costs $41.99 (If I'm not mistaken). They also had S1 for the same price $41.99 no extra 'gift'.
The booklet H & W (not depth) dimensions are about the size of the blu-ray case, a bit smaller. The booklet was covered w/ a piece of weak carton to protect it. From outside what I could barely see it looks to me in quality and materials like the booklets you get when you buy a music CD, just bigger.

That exclusive set does look extremely nice. I also thought it was just a cheap slip cover. Love the saying imprinted on the back.

You have to get the cached page, check the frys thread for a direct link of a screen capture.
Also
Success! Got both Best Buy exclusives for $24.99 each.
Anyone having trouble redeeming the Amazon digital copy? It just gives you a $38.99 credit but it wont let me buy GoT with it, as GoT isn't not purchasable with credit.

Maybe I'm crazy, but after going in to Best Buy and looking, I prefer the generic artwork. Its shiny and nice looking (I'm easy to please I guess). Plus my first season is the standard cover, might as well stick with it.

It wont let me activate mine for Amazon, but I suggest you speak or chat with amazon rep to try and help. This is what he said to me though.

You need to enter in a credit card regardless of the credit being present, and marking that as default from here: http://www.amazon.com/pin. Once you add the card, purchase the season as normal and it will use the promotional code first. If you're still requiring assistance after that, have contact us with your account.

Got my copy at Target along with Girls season 1 >_>. I DUNNO about you guys but the shiny crown cover is bonerlicious over the BBC covers. And heads up my target only had a few of the donut disc versions the rest were normal. Guy said they only got 6 with the bonus disc in o_O. If you really want the bonus disc badly and they are out try getting a raincheck maybe they will get in more later.

I am probably going to settle for the Target exclusive version since I only have the regular season 1 copy. Does Target pricematch Frys?

Please read my posts above ^^ (but it is YMMV on manager you get, they will try and search on frys website but obviously that is down , so make sure you haved the cached page on your phone), Also Target Copy seems to be limited to 2-6 copies per store at least that is what people are saying.

Was anyone else not impressed with the covers? I found them to be cheap looking, almost blurry. I ended up getting the regular cover that is shiny and raised up. Seemed like a way to just gouge another $5 out of you.

Yes it was. They just replace the standard slipcover with the BB exclusive ones. Everything underneath it is the same.

These ones do look less sharp to me as well. Not sure what it up as they are the same matted paper like the first one. Also the word I unlined is called embossed. And not really a gouge if you PM Fry's $24.99 or Target's $29.99.

I PM'd Frys and got both for $24.99. Ended up paying $10 after using a $35 RZ Cert.

I ended up just going with the exclusive target edition. I like the normal cover and I like this series enough so I'll prolly watch the bonus disc after I finish the season.

so i went to target and bought it however none had the exclusive target sticker on them....should i be worried? are all target copies the same target sticker or not?
