Gamebooks.com(many penny guides listed)(MGS Subsistence guide for .99 before shipping

The following link takes you to the main guide page for Gamebooks.com, where there are many older guides listed(the original Asheron's Call, anyone?) for super cheap. However, the first page has the craptastic guides for 25 to Life and 50 Cent: Bulletproof listed.

Here's the link:
http://www.gamebooks.com/index.php?c=3&n=1000&s=pa&p=1&x=Subjects

Checkout is done through Amazon.com though, so I don't know what the shipping rate is for each book, since many books are offered by different vendors.

Don't know if its a good deal or not, but figured I'd post it since there are many older guides listed for cheap prices.

Happy hunting...

EDIT: Here's at least ONE link some CAGs will find interesting, the guide for MGS 3: Subsistence(and MGS 2's guide is on the same page to boot):

Hope this helps to point out some of the deals on this site boys n girls. Although, as some CAGs found out earlier, the guides for games like Ocarina Of Time and certain other ones are at their Ebay prices. But, most of the guides I've seen listed on here thus far are at a good deal less than retail.

The prices that I did list in this thread are PRIOR to shipping and any other relevant fees(like tax) for your particular state.

Again....happy hunting....

Is this site perfectly legit? Because I see some guides for my favorite games for ~$5 each, which seems pretty good.

What is the slowest shipping cost?

Also, when I click on the regular big "Add to Shopping Cart" Link, am I buying the guide new or used?

that's weird....when you go to their checkout it leads to amazon website. According to their website, they team up with amazon "to make ordering quick and easy"

All it does is it searches Amazon. If you go to Amazon, there are 2 people selling Subsistence Guides for .01 + 3.49 shipping. It actually tells you how much shipping is thru Amazon. If you want to take a risk on shipping go to the OP's website. Otherwise, just go to Amazon and search. You'll find better deals. BEWARE of the seller feedback #'s.

As I said in my original post, I didn't get a chance to check out the shipping rates, since I must be the only person on the planet to never have ordered from Amazon.

I only found this site this morning, while looking for the inevitably hard to come by BG Dark Alliance II cover art + manual. And, while it is a pita since checkout takes you to Amazon, with some of the prices I saw guides listed for, how can you go wrong?

Hell, they even have guides for Dark Alliance + Dark Alliance II listed for UNDER $10 each.

Find out for yourself if it's a good site or not, seems legit, even though it does redirect to Amazon once you head to the checkout.

Would it kill anyone to actually click through and make up an order on their own?

Seems legit. Too bad it only lists 6 or 8 guides per page. Don't really feel like browsing 250+ pages. Oh well. Thanks for the link.

I know, if there were a way to up the number of guides listed to at least 20-30 per page instead of the piddily 10, it might be better. If I have some time later, I'll skim back through the pages and see if I can find some real gems to put links in here to.

I've seen listings for Diablo and some much older PC games on the site, as well as Area 51 and some really new console guides. Again, if I get time later, I'll skim back through a bunch of the pages and link any decent guides here.

I actually had no idea they had 3rd party sites, but what can I say, I did find this while looking for the BG Dark Alliance II manual and cover art online.

Anyone can make a site like that...all you have to do is join the Amazon referral program. I have Amazon products that show up on my blogs.

Here's an example of a purchase I would make with prices & shipping:

Battlefield 2 - .01
Burnout 3 - $1.50
Civ: Call To Power - .01

Click through Amazon CheckoutShipping $10.47
----------------------------
Total: $11.99 (before tax)

Not bad. I'm not pulling the trigger until I shop around a bit more.
Nothing I can't live without, but good to know it's there...

Some of these guides, like the many Genesis, SNES and even original NES guides haven't been seen in years(unless they got reprints). Either way though, the only one I found that half interested me was the BG DA II guide for $8 and change. Now, if the daytime clerks at the local Hollywood Vid would just say to 'take the display box' tomorrow complete with manual and cover art. LOL I'm dreaming, I know.
