I recently picked up a copy of the Gamestop catalog for February 4- Feb. 24 (available in-store; it has Samus on the cover), and I noticed that they have the Game Boy Advance e-Reader Bundle for $39.99. The bundle includes a GBA system and an e-Reader (and the cards that come with the e-Reader). It's like buying an e-Reader and getting a GBA for free. This is a great deal for anyone looking for a cheap GBA for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. My local Wal-Mart even price-matched the bundle for me when I brought the Gamestop ad in. Here's a couple scans of the ad page with the deal (it's at the bottom of the image)

Lucky. My Gamestop plugged the ads. I cant wait till I work at Gamestop and shit. I will let everyone (assuming we have them in stock) take advantage of these deals and always override the system...AH...
Now don't hate me, but when I found out both the GBA and the ereader were sealed inside I returned them to the same store and got $99 credit. Bam, GameBoy SP for $45 (tax). Maybe it's not right, but I just had to.
Yeah, I opened up my bundle pack and found the same thing. Both devices are in their original seperate packaging, like they just took them out of a warehouse and stuck them in the bundle box. But I did notice both the GBA and E-reader had a sticker over the UPC code that marked it as sold with a bundle. The stickers are quite easy to remove. Voila! Your $39.99 purchase just became $109.98.

Man that is Sooo wrong, I'm gonna try it tomorrow.

cripes i gotta buy this tomorrow if i can. has anyone tried this at the poughkeepsie gamestops? id just buy this and sell the gb, keep the e-reader, and buy an sp.

i'll have to try this also, but i'm going to keep them. i need a GBA, and the e reader sounds pretty cool.

on a side note, how hard is the GH Soul Blade to find? i saw it today new for like $15.

Hey sneaky I'm also in the Poughkeepsie area I work around there and was gonna try this out on Tuesday. If you head there before me let me know how things went.
Man, I went to GameStop yesterday, and I got a price sheet, but the Wireless Net Extender and the Bundle are both marked out with permanent marker! ARGH! Will CC or BB take a scanned page for PMing?
How much was the price for the Net Extender? I am asking this because I didn't see it on the scan on the ad.

Well i'm also from the poughkeepsie area but I didn't try to get it at gamestop. I tried to PM this bundle at Toys R Us and Bestbuy but they were out of stock. I also tried to get Ebgames to PM this, but the guy said the price was way to low and they'll loose money on the deal. If anyone manages to find a store in the Poughkeepsie area that actually has it can they let me know? thanks in advance.

Hey magus83 I might have to go to the big walmart down by I 84 then and get them to price match this but I wont be able to get there till Tuesday so I'll let you guys now if i'm able to.
I went last night and they said they wouldn't honor it (it says on the back of the flyer - prices subject to change). The guy was really very nice about it. Then I told him I'd try the ShopKo in the mall and see if they would do it, and he even wished me luck on that.

I did get a price match, so I scored one for $40 too. Now don't hate me, but when I found out both the GBA and the ereader were sealed inside I returned them to the same store and got $99 credit. Bam, GameBoy SP for $45 (tax). Maybe it's not right, but I just had to.
How did you return them seperately? Doesn't the reciept show it as a bundle? Maybe you did this at WalMart and you didn't need a reciept. Let me know. I'm gonna have to try this.

im going tomorrow morning to the mall ill try to check both gamestops, and see if i can pricematch anywhere. ill post tomorrow with the results.

Circuit City in Norwalk CT had 1 bundle packl in stock, the Bestbuy near it is where I got my bundle pack and I had got the last one. The walmart near them didnt have any, but theres a TrU not far
Its cool that some people had the balls to return the 2 products for an SP. I wish I had just changed the color of the GBA but oh well I didnt get a chance, I used it almost immediately to play Crystal Chronicles with a friend.

Picked mine up this morning from Circiut City, after waiting for 5 minutes while the girl got the managers aproval.

I took advantage of this great deal, but it did take me a while to find a place that had the E-Reader bundle and that also pricematches. Finally found a Walmart that had a bunch of em, and I got two (one for myself and a friend). I would really like to upgrade to an SP, but what would be the best way to go about doing this? EB Games or Gamestop? I considered what someone had done, with taking the two packages out of the bundle and returning them separately, but Best Buy and Circuit City wouldn't take them without a receipt, since it has been more than a month since Christmas. I believe this is a policy that all stores probably have, so I don't know how people are returning them by themsleves.

Anyways, I think EB Games has a trade in deal for a used GBA SP for $29.99, but I don't have 2 games to trade in with the GB Advance. I might be able to find a couple cheap used games, and go with the trade in tomorrow.

arg my parents wouldnt let me buy it.....yet. btw, the eb games and best buy in poughkeepsie do not have the bundles, so youll have to pm somewhere else. sorry i couldn t be more help

I'm also wondering how people are returning them separately.

Tell the store that youre returning it to that it was a present and the person who gave it you didn't give you a gift reciept. You should be able to find a store that would do it for you. You wont get cash back but most places should give you a merchandise credit.

The Gamestop in Kennewick, WA didn't have the February catalog or any bundles. Any kind soul interested in mailing me one of the ads? I'd paypal the cost of shipping plus a couple of bucks. PM if you're interested

My first post here - Lion, you rock. :D

I went to about 6 stores over 2 hours. I found nothing. Most were sold out, or never had them. I went to best buy finally. They say to go to customer service, and nothing seems wrong. So, I wait, and they need to have it in stock. Argh. So close.

So, today, I tried my final store. I went to a gamestop 20 min away, that I had already called, and they had 2 in stock. On the phone they said it was a misprint, but I went anyway, since I knew. I get there and see the woman that I think told me it was a mistake on the phone. I go into the other guy's line, and explain it to him, showing him it. He asked the woman, and she said it was a misprint, but he seemed to think: "It says it, so I'll honor it". So, he's ringing it up, and this woman comes in. He tells her "Come here, look at this". So we show her, and she says "Whats the date on that?". I'm thinking "Uh-oh, I was SO close". She goes behind the counter, and says "we needed to get rid of em" :p

So, I finally got 2. Time for 4 player crystal chronicles. :D :D

Thanks a bunch, Lion.

Went to my neighborhood Gamestop to pre-order my Steele Battalion Re-release Bundle. While there I remember this thread and looked in the In-store flyer. Sure enough there it is, $39.99 for the e-Reader bundle. I look behind the guy ringing me up and there is one left. I ask if he'll sell it to me at the price shown, and he quoted the whole "mis-print" thing.

Not to be discouraged, I went 2 blocks down to a Wal-Mart and they priced matched the Ad on 2 bundles!

I then removed the items from both boxes, went into the Target next door and did a recieptless exchange and got..... wait for it.....

2 Rare Lime Green Target Exclusive Gameboy Advance SP's that came with DK Country Free! I remember these things were a special promo during the Thanksgiving shopping season.

I still can't believe my luck. They still have 2 more Lime Green SP's. I'm considering going back and doing it all over again for them. Those things are currently fetching up to $160 on Ebay.

Summary: 2x$39.99 for e-Reader Bundles= $79.98
2x$64.99 Glacier Gameboy Advances+ 2x$39.99 e-Readers
=$209.96 Credit
2x$99.99 Limited Edition Lime Green Gameboy Adv. SP
2x$0.00 ($29.99) Donkey Kong Country for Gameboy Adv.
=$199.98 Total - $209.96= $9.98 gift card
All together I spent $80 and came home with $260 in product
and a $10 gift card to boot! That more than paid for my time
and mileage!

Thanks lion for posting in the first place! Good luck to all who try to this out as well.

So the GBA and the E-Reader are wrapped seperately? Did it say anywhere on them that they were part of a bundle deal? I'll definetly be willing to do this if I can get a GBA SP for only for $40.

There is a small easily removable sticker that is placed over the UPC bar code. It says something like: "GBA e-Reader bundle 1 of 2" I peeled it off while in my car and it left no residue whatsoever. Goodluck!

I was thinking of doing it with that Nyko Wireless Extender instead. It's only $20, but goes for $100, so I can get a GBA SP for only $20.

where do u get a nyko wireless extender for 20$?and where would u return it for 100$? and how do u return the gba seperately to target if they have to scan the serial bar code thing that is on the gba? i tired to return a gba to wal-mart and they said i purchased it at target cuz they checked the bar code.

Hmmm....Not sure how everyone returns all these items. Tried it once at Walmart...they scanned the item and knew right away it wasn't from their store. I would suspect that Target would have the same type of computerized inventory. Anyone ever get turned down on this?

Well, you sort of have to make sure Walmart carries the item or not. If you want to be extra careful and make sure they do, you can look up the UPC number on half.com and then go to www.upcdatabase.com, print the UPC and take it to Walmart and have someone scan it (or scan it yourself if your Walmart has those self scanner things). If it scans then you can return it. There's no way they can tell it wasn't from bought from a Walmart, unless you leave the price tag on or something like that.

Hmmm....well the item I tried to return was a game. It was on their website so I assumed they carried it. I guess it is possible that they didn't carry it in that store. It was just that the lady told me if it beeps it means it isn't from this store. She was referring to the price scanner. This lead me to believe that they scanned everything when it came in so they could keep track of each item.

How smoothly does returning things at Target, sans receipt, go? I checked the return policy on their website and it said that you're not supposed to do it, but that they have some sort of receipt database they can search for you.

I returned them separately at Target, too, and had no problems. She did ask if I paid cash or credit, though, so maybe if it is a credit card they're able to search a database for you. You do have to select something from the same department, but that's wasn't a problem since I wanted to get my son a Gameboy SP.

I got the Nyko Wireless Net Extender for $20 price matched at Best Buy. I had to go through managers and everything, but they ended up giving it to me for that price at the end. I might keep it instead of returning it, since it looks like a pretty cool device and I got this ugly wire in my room that I wanna get rid of.

Can soemone tell me where I can return it without a reciept? Gamestop and Target haven't worked for me.

Wow, they actually let you have it for that price? That was a gutsy move.

Ya, I was very suprised that they did. I thought they were gonna call up Gamestop, find out it was a mistake and not let me have it, but they didn't.

Another place to look: CompUSA. I got two bundles there for 39.99 each. At first they tried to tell me that Gamestop wasn't a B&M store or it was some mail order thing or something, but a quick check of their website changed that. Good stuff, great deal.

Has anybody in California gotten a hold of the catalog? Unless they've been lying to me, the 3 Gamestops closest to me said they never got any.

CompUSA huh? Well since the flyer deals end on the 24th may be a good last chance to get some more cheap bundles. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, today's the last day we can try this...

I went to one Gamestop last night and they didn't have the bundle. I went to another one and they had it, the guy quoted a price of $70. I showed him the ad and he was like "oh sh!t, when is this from?" Then he checked it and saw the date was still good... but then he checked with a manager, came back, and pointed out the "Gamestop reserves the right not to honor misprinted ads" thing. In short, this employee was way too smart for this to work. Oh well, I'm gonna check a few more gamestops today, as well as Wal-Mart, CC, BB, etc. If I can get this, I want it, dammit!
