8/20/08 changes:

Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness:
The plush chicken pre-order bonus has been delayed. The item is currently in transport to the United States and has not cleared customs. The item will arrive 7-10 days after the game's launch.

Mirror's Edge:
The gift with purchase has been changed to a free t-shirt.

Lego Batman:
The original promotion provided a set of keychains to customers. However, due to the large number of pre-orders on this title, the publisher cannot produce enough keychains to meet demand. Pre-order customers will now receive ONE villain keychain of their choice, subject to availability on hand.

edit: didn't even see that Mario Galaxy lanuch coin! Might just switch my pre-order to something else at GS and snag that coin if its an exclusive.

So Gamecrazy did not get the faceplates for Eternal Sonata? The solicitation the workers let me see in August said they were going to, but I ended up reserving it at Gamestop. Looks like it was good I did.
 
I still wish we knew what that Contra 20th Anniversary pack was like. If it's as nice as the Castlevania one then I'm on board.

THe facelpate was going to come but for whatever reason its not now. For all the custs that preordered eternal sonota you have an option of getting a $5 giftcard in in place of the faceplate.
I'm pretty sure thats the deal but don't get your panties in an uproar if not as I'm not at work today and can't find out the complete details.

I was told no by my local store. Well, in any case they had never heard of it. I guess that doesn't mean they won't get them in.

Thanks for the list Scorch. I was just wondering about this stuff myself. About that Mario Galaxy coin. Is that a GC exclusive or does it seem likely EB will have it as well? I already have it preordered at EB and don't want to switch it unless they aren't getting the coin.

Interesting to see the Dewy's Adventure plush at GC also. I may switch that over from EB. Though after the early reviews/impressions I was considering cancelling it entirely.

Does GameCrazy have a lot of exclusive bonuses (that Eb/GS don't get)? I don't have a GC, but if most of these become universal it could be a nice guide for what to look out for at EB/GS. Thanks Scorch.
 
Thanks for this list. I'll probably get the Contra deal if it's anything like the Castlevania:poR deal, which I missed out on. I wonder what the quality of the Mario Galaxy coin is?
 
Question:
I preordered MG and SSBB with the trade 2 get extra 50% deal last June. Since my closest GC is far away, I'm getting Galaxy on December 3 when I get Brawl. Would I still get the coin, or would it be on a first come, first serve basis? Seeing as it's a launch coin, I'm doubtful I'll get anything, but it never hurts to ask.
 
PO gifts are given at the time you pick up the game.

Launch coin.. dunno if it's GC exclusive or not, it didn't say anything about it being GC exclusive, and I highly doubt Nintendo would throw us an exclusive!

GC stores did not receive Eternal Sonata faceplate. Nor have they received the Ratchet and Clank demo (yet).

Regarding Halo 3 swag.. show up at the midnight launch party. I'm not at liberty to divulge exact information, but there will be at least four Halo-related promo items given out. None of it's too amazing, but it's Halo related things nonetheless. Those are the only "gifts" that will be given out. Some stores may have some leftover the next morning, but I seriously doubt it.
 
Yeah I have Halo pre-ordered at GS, but I will be going to GameCrazy for the actual midnight release, and buying a collectors edition there if there are any extras. That Ace Combat 6 faceplate sounds cool.

Cool, can't wait to see what is in it. I ordered the Castlevania one through GC without any problems, and will do it again.

Besides, I would rather support them then EB/Gamestop.

Awesome. Thanks for the info - I've had it preordered there for a while and was wondering what kind of freebies they'd be giving away. Not that the stuff is a deal maker/breaker or anything... but my desk at work could use a couple more knick knacks.

Otherwise it might disappear on you YMMV.
 
I'm interested in the Super Mario Galaxy pre-order I guess i'll have to pre-order it at GS since the GC in my area closed down hopefully they'll get them.

The Contra 20th anniv. sounds interesting wish I could buy things from gamecrazy online.. =\

Would EB or Gamestop get the Contra deal, if there really was one? I guess that's a stupid question since we don't even know if there's going to be an anniversary pack.
 
As previously asked, does anyone know if the Ace Combat 6 faceplate comes with the Hori Stick combo?
I pre-ordered mine there but a free faceplate would just sweeten everything.

Any updates on the Eternal Sonata faceplate screw-up? I wasn't aware that the promo had been pulled at GC and was pissed to find out that it didn't come with my pre-order.

The guy told me that corporate is working on the issue (claiming it was a shipping issue) and that the faceplates would still come, but that's not what it sounds like reading this thread. A $5 giftcard is hardly a replacement to a faceplate that I'd have to pay about $30 to get on Ebay.

I'm going to pay them a visit tomorrow, Shrike. I'll bring this up and report back what they tell me. I figure, we're paying enough. We sure as hell are entitled to this little "goodie".

Scorch, we got jack didly squat at our GC midnight launch in Fenton, MO. The only stuff given out was if you finished in the top 10 of the Halo 2 tournament, and it was just the promo stuff you were talking about. No free drinks, shirts, nothing for most of the 100 people who showed up. Should I complain to corporate about this?

Luckily those who were waiting outside the store because the line was so long got free Monster Energy cans from the Monster Energy folks who drove by in their branded truck.

On another note, is your store safe from the Movie Gallery closing axe? It would be a shame to lose someone who's provided so much info to us. I've started shopping almost exclusively at GC because of the info you've posted.
 
UPDATE: Went to GameCrazy tonight (10-3-07) and the computers updated 3 games no longer have GWP (Gift with Purchase).

Contra 4 DS was one of them. No free gift with purchase :(

Someone please tell me this is not true.

I wouldn't be surprised. I no longer trust GC with pre-order bonuses. They had listed the Eternal Sonata faceplates as a bonus and then canceled them.

Don't know if it's just the conspiracy thinking in me, but it almost seems like they're getting their pre-orders up by offering the bonuses and then pulling them at the last minute. Bunch of BS if you ask me.

I would be concerned at the very least, the memo said that all stores would be receiving shirts, drinks (four cases worth of the nerd fuel from mountain dew.. 96 individual bottles), etc.

Yeah, my store's safe.. there will be some changes, but i'm dedicated to bringing the price drops. I forgot to get them yesterday though.. I don't know the complete list, I do know Harry Potter and Def Jam both went to 29.99/24.99 used on 360 and PS3. Hoping Vegas drops down today, fingers crossed. Thanks for the kind words, by the way, it's good to know that i'm helping bring business to the store.

I wouldn't be surprised. I no longer trust GC with pre-order bonuses. They had listed the Eternal Sonata faceplates as a bonus and then canceled them.

Just the conspiracy thinking in you. Namco/Bandai decided to make the faceplates EB/GS only. No one was more pissed at this decision than the store directors and employees. It was a BS move. On a side note, at least we do get SOME exclusives.. like the Stranglehold shot glass.. which was a freakin' amazing preorder bonus.

But yeah, regarding the Contra thing, I will definately check later today. I'm not sure what you mean by "computers updated with 3 games no longer GWP".. GWP items are not tied to games in the computer. Meaning I can't pull up Contra and it say "LIEK ZOMG PREORDAR TODAYZ AND GET FREEBIEZ!". It prints off in its own thing. But again, I'll check tonight.
 
Let me know if you guys find a place that is still offering it~ i'd love to pick it up. But if it was cancelled by the publisher, I don't know if anyone will be getting it.

..though GC said the same thing about the faceplates. So who knows.

Contra 4 comes out November 13, so there might not have been enough time to get the bonus assembled and in-store. Still, it would've been great...
 
This sucks, but I was for the most part expecting it due to no noise from Konami about it.

I mean I forget, how many months in advance did they let us know about the 20th Gift for Castlevania? And that got a lot of publicity and coverage from various sites...

Oh well, I'll keep hoping for the pre-order-gift to still be released, but will definitely not count on it.
