GameCrazy SEGA Sale - Condemned $35, Sega Tennis $30, Viking $35, HoD2/3 $20 + Others

foxhunt99

CAGiversary!
Gamecrazy is selling new condemned 2 for 34.99. Not sure how long it will last.

LinkinPrime Edit:
Alright, here's the deal. I thought this was an April Fool's joke, apparently not. This is indeed a "Sega Sale". Here's the full list.. new/used prices

DS
Mario and Sonic Olympic 24.99/19.99
Sega Superstar Tennis 19.99/??.??

PS3
Condemned 2 34.99/29.99
Sega Superstar Tennis 29.99/19.99
Viking 34.99/29.99

Wii
House of the Dead 2/3 19.99/34.99 (expect the used to change to 14.99)
Mario and Sonic Olympic 29.99/19.99
Sega Superstar Tennis 29.99/19.99

X360
Condemned 2 34.99/29.99
Sega Superstar Tennis 29.99/19.99
Viking 34.99/29.99

These sale prices are "for the next few weeks", according to the memo. Trade-in prices have already been brought down, as Condemned and Sega Superstar Tennis both trade in at $17.xx. This is not YMMV, all stores have these prices in their POS as of this morning. Even if it says the wrong price on the wall, it will ring up as the sale price.

Yet the only fucking Sega game I want isn't on sale.. The Club. BAH!

Can a mod change the topic title to "GameCrazy Sega Sale" and update the OP with my information?

Good luck on getting Viking -- most stores were sent 2-3 copies. Same with Sega Superstar Tennis. Condemned 2 shouldn't be too terribly hard to get ahold of, though.

//edit: Also, all stores should have the MGS4 beta keys now.

Can anyone answer this?
GameCrazy.

The official paperwork said, and I quote, "These are special price events we received from Sega for the next few weeks. These prices are valid while supplies last."

Take it for what it's worth. I'd say two weeks at least.
Cannot find a used Sega Tennis in my area, only new

oh well
I might have to jump on that for the $20 price tag. Damn GC is becoming one of my new favorites.

I got lucky - bought all three X360 games. I think those were the last ones, because they had to take them from the display rather than the shelf.

For anyone that cares, Wii Mario & Sonic Olympics is also down to $29.99. Used with MVP it was $18...and I couldn't resist!:hot:

Edit: Sorry...didn't read revised OP.

Picked up the last and only copy of Viking earlier this evening. Hopefully I can score used copies of those Wii titles before the sale ends.

Well damn, this is what I get for not checking CAG for a week. Hopefully my GC still has Condemned 2 (360) and HotD2&3.

My store still has all three for both systems.. no I will not pick you up a copy, I want local people in my area to get a crack at them first. If they survive the weekend, I will begin picking up copies for CAGers for $40 shipped

I went into Game Crazy the other day *just* to pre-order MGS4 and get the Saga DVD, but then I remembered this thread and went ahead and purchased Condemned 2 for the 360.

I still haven't opened it yet, because I'm wondering if it's worth playing through...

I'd really love me a copy (used preferably) of Viking, if anyone could pick it up for me I'd be mighty thankful and of course throw you some money for shipping/gas PM me if anyone's interested, I have PayPal.

Definitely! C2 is a great game if you are into horror games, especially with the new combos and such. You won't lose out much even if you don't like it, it should still get $25-$35 at Gamestop/EBGames for trade-in.

Well, I finally was able to pick up a copy of Condemned 2! The manager wasn't in, but the clerk that was there was a guy that I'd dealt with before that has been very cool about matching trades (although I think that he stiffed me on one, which should have been $12, but he only gave me $7).
Of course, by the time I got back all of the 360 versions had been sold, so I picked up a PS3 copy.

So far it's much better than the demo was and the combat really is improved from the first game. HOWEVER, the current audio dropout problem on the PS3 makes the game just about unplayable! Here I thought it was only going to be every once in a while, but it's every 10-20 _seconds_, at least on my setup (HDMI video, with 5.1 digital sound over the optical output). Hopefully Sega will fix the problem soon; either that or I need to find a way to swap this copy for a 360 version.

Oh, when I was in a Gamestop picking up my Metal Gear Saga 2.0 disc yesterday, I asked and they said that the TIV for Condemned 2 on the 360 was only $22! What's up with that?

Just called over and they have Viking for the PS3 available. I just dont know if this game is worth $35. I might just check back in a week or so and see if they have a used copy for cheaper. What to do, What to do.

Has anyone played a decent amount into the game and are still interested. I heard it gets monotonous after a while. Also does the game seem really quite? I watched some videos and I swear you could hear a pin drop.

As far as the audio dropout, there is a "fix" (and I use that term loosely), that you can set your audio options in the XMB to 2-channel. That will cut out the audio dropouts. But you also get the static/scratching sound that plagues all audio options in Condemned 2.

As for me right now, I am just playing through Viking, and waiting on the Condemned 2 patch, it shouldnt be too long now.

Also, as far as the trade in value. They reduced it for duration of the sale. Pretty sure they wouldn't let anyone buy it for $35, trade it back in, get store credit for near the same amount. And they have to turn around and sell it for sub-$30.

The TIV should go up after the sale is over.

Also, there have been reports that the x360 version does have the same problems, albeit a bit more minor. Still get audio dropouts, but its anywhere from 30s-1m.. something like that.

I just want to know how this got passed the QA/Testing.....

i just called my local gamecrazy n they said condemned 2 was $59.99. Is this sale nationwide or what? Is it a register markdown they're supposed to do or does my store just suck?

Probably just didn't update the price. I would go in, attempt to buy it, it definitely will ring up at 34.99. The CSR you got was just clueless

After reading about the problems and witnessing in the PS3 demo I'm so glad I went with the 360 version which has none of it. Yeah Gamecazy and CAG!

And we're sure this is for NEW copies, not used? And it'll definately ring up $35? Cuz I want it at $35 but dont wanna seem like a fool n have them ring it up at $60, then be like "Oh nevermind, I thought it was a lower price then what it's marked" lol

Yes, definetely new copies. The GameCrazy that I went to even had a $34.99 price plaque underneath the new copies on the wall. The used copy still had a $54.99 sticker, but it rang up at $29.99 (only $26.99 after MVP!). Really a great deal on such a new game.

that's weird. I just played through Condemed 2 (with HDMI video and dolby digital sound) and didn't have a problem with the audio. I have to say it's a pretty good game. I got addicted to it, much better than the demo. My only problems were with the later stage, it became more of the same. Also the story, which started off strong, seemed lacking in the later stages. Oh and don't even bother if you want it for multiplayer. The definition of tacked on.

well unfortunately, My gamecrazy had both Condemned 2 and Viking. Picked them both up. This is gonna be a horrible month of spending.
is viking any good? worth $35? what game is it most comparable to?
Yeah, id like to know this too. It got decent reviews but a lot of people seem to like it still.

Plays and looks a lot like Fable, with a little bit of Mark of Kri, and Conan thrown in.
It's not a graphical show case or anything, but it has a nice cartoony Fable like look to it. Also as your character learns more moves you begin to feel really, really powerful, (You don't grow like in Fable though ) but the fights do get really intense. Your character animations start off feeling really blocky, and slow, and while walking around, you'll wish that your character had a run button. But that goes out the window when the fighting begins, when you're actually in battle you don't notice it, if they could've combined this game with Conan, you'd have fun for days.

Oh and before I forget, the game can at times throw more on screen enemies than Kameo and N3, and the characters actually fight each other. Complete mayhem. 35 is a good price for a relatively new game, even though, I see this game dropping pretty quickly price wise.

I broke down and picked up Viking and Sega Superstar Tennis. My GC did not have many copies of anything. For the price I could not pass it up. The only thing that bugs me is that the MVP does not work on NEW items only USED. Thats kinda lame or it would have justified the $10 cost to me. Though over the past few weeks I have picked up a total of 5 NEW games because my store never has anything USED.
picked up Condemned 2 for 360. thanks OP! Too bad I'm not going to play it til i beat the first one.
I just traded for the first one a little over a week ago. I am not going to play the second until I beat the first too.

Snagged Condemned 2 (360) and House of the Dead 2 & 3 for $5 less than what Condemned 2 alone would cost normally. Yay for SEGA!
I just traded for the first one a little over a week ago. I am not going to play the second until I beat the first too.
Good call. The first one ends on a total cliff hanger.

Picked up the last HOTD 2 & 3 today.

Guys behind the counter were like, "Oh man! That's another game we have to make a sign for!" I don't think they read the email yet.
Is Sega Tennis (360) worth $30 or is it more of a rental?
I really like it. If your a fan of mario tennis or really into sega fan stuff than this game is for you

My co-worker wasn't aware Condemned had dropped, so the person may have just said $59.99 for Condemned out of habit. It rings up $34.99.

Picked up Condemned 2, Viking and Sega Tennis for 360 and HOTD 2/3 for the Wii. Sale price was well-marked on the shelf tags, though the rep who checked me out said that the sale was ending tomorrow.

Any truth to that it's ending tomorrow, Scorch?

Considering the memo said the sale prices are for the next couple weeks, no. I'll let you know if I hear anything different, though.
