Hey guys, just want to see if you guys can get me a quick list of cheap($20 or below) must have games for the Gamecube. I am going to get a used one at EBGames and have a few games(yes, I bought them knowing one day I would get the system) but I just want to make sure that the system is worth it. Thanks in advance.

Have:
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Metroid(both)
Paper Mario
Warioware Minigames
Tales of Legendia(or whatever the GC version is)
Geist
Billy Hatcher

KNow to get:
skies of Arcadia Legend
Windwaker
Diehard Vendetta( I know people think it blows, but I played it once, great game)
That one crazy game that resets itself, makes the controller not work

That's
Eternal Darkness
, but don't tell The Crotch that, he thinks it is a spoiler ;)

Other great must have, GameCube-only games:

Ikaruga
Resident Evil 0 and REMake
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Monkey Ball and 2
Sonic Gems Collection
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Pikmin 1 and 2
F-Zero GX
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike
Batallion Wars
Baten Kaitos (both games)

The only other Gamecube only game I can think of is Mario Kart DD. Viewtiful Joe 1/2 and XMen Legends 1/2 are also very good on the Cube. Especially with XMen because you can play 4 players without an adapter if you have the controllers.

Thanks guys, you got me excited tomorrow, just going to check to see if I can
scrounge together some games to trade in or just pay cash. I love to build a game collection and this one should be fun. I have some credit at GameCrazy so hopefully they will runa promotion soon for some cheap gaming heaven. Thanks for all the info and keep it coming.

Wind Waker, Paper Mario, and fer cryin' out loud find a copy of Eternal Darkness. RE4 is a great game at $50, much less $20 GH.

Oh, and get yourself an Action Replay. Also around 20 buckeroos.
what is action replay?
It's for cheating.

Final Fantasy Chronicles is not a much have, I can't stand that game.

Chici-Robo
F-Zero
Animal Crossing
Zeldas
Metriods
Wave Race
Billy Hatcher

Now if you don't have any other systems you need...

XIII
Metel Arms
Beyond Good and EVil
Lego Star Wars 1+2

Here is my complete list:

Animal Crossing (Must own, nothing really like it IMO)
Baten Kaitos (card based RPG, has it's faults but is enjoyable)
Beyond Good and Evil (good game with a story line that gets deeper than what you would expect)
Bloody Roar Primal Fury (hard to find, great fun fighter)
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (Old school side scrolling but with bongos!)
Eternal Darkness (Must own)
F-Zero GX (Fastest racer EVER!)
Ikaruga (must own for shooter fans, awesome gameplay concept)
Killer 7 (Very good and very different)
Luigi's Mansion (Must own, an easy but very fun and entertaing game)
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Must own, a very good 'golden Axe' type game)
Mario Power Tennis (very fun game)
Mario All Star Baseball (a ton of fun but with a baseball theme)
Metroid Prime 1 & 2 (Must own)
Pacman Versus (a must own for GBA owners)
Pikmin 1 & 2 (Must own at least one of these)
Resident Evil Rebirth (also known as REmake, Must own)
Resident Evil Zero (Must own, especially if you like 'old school' RE)
Resident Evil 4 (Must own or get the Wii version if you have one)
Star Fox Adventures (great presentation and graphics)
Star Wars: Rogue Leader (Must own)
SW:Rebel Strike (not as good as RL, has better graphics more of the same fun)
Soul Calibur 2 (Get it to play as Link, amazing moves)
Spyhunter (old but good)
Super Mario Sunshine (Must own, better than what most people say it is)
Super Monkey Ball (Must own)
Tales of Symphonia (I haven't played a lot of it bust so far it's great. Awesome battle system)
Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 (Great game, if you're curious just get them in order)
Wave Race (not quite as good as WRN64 but still excellent)
Zelda the Wind Waker (I haven't played much but these graphics are amazing)

Some of those are multi-platform but not too many. That's a list of the must haves from my collection. There's more as well like Smash Brother, Batallion Wars, Fire Emblem, etc. But I'm not into those games. Oh and I would say 95% of those games are under $20 if not dirt cheap. It always cracks me up when people say the GC has no great titles. Sure it died off towards the end but it still has a great library of games. Good luck shopping and let us know what you get. Oh an if you're into Card Based RPGs there's two others that are hard to find that I heard are pretty good, Lost Kingdoms 1 and 2.

NCAA Basketball 2k2.... only game to have.... you don't have it, you're a n00b :O

Stay away from Crystal Chronicles, unless you like uninspired, gimmicky, slow, pre-original Gauntlet style gameplay. Not to mention the ridiculous Celtic chick smoking d00bs and softly putting you to sleep with her unneccassary banter. If you have 3 twin siblings though, who all suffer from brain damage, and you need to keep them occupied, this game will do.

Skies of Arcadia is possibly my favorite non Square/Enix/TriAce/NIS/Namco/Atlus/Working Design game in the world!!!

BUY IT!!!

Odd I thought the same about SoA as you did FFCC. Frankly they both suck.

Already mentioned, but I have to give nods to Donkey Kong:Jungle Beat and Pac-Man vs.

*edit* Oh, and there are those who'll disagree and even I'll admit it's not a game for everyone, but Odama is awesomly cool.

Finally got my gamecube and am making my list or games. Its funny that I have a backlog of games, over 10, for a system I didnt even own. I even got Jungle Beat at EBGames a while back. Thanks for all the work, not just have to wait for a b2g1 deal at gamecrazy or EBGames.
Someone up there mentioned Two Towers and Bloody Roar. The latter got panned in reviews, and the former is a boring, uninspired game that is available on every system.

This list would be easier to build if we knew what other consoles you had.
You're right about Bloody Roar but being a fan since the PS1 I extremely enjoyed it and it is still fun to this day. Have you played the game and put a lot of time into it or do you just solely rely on what the reviewer says? I have the best times playing BR especially when you get good at it on the harder difficulty. You can have matches that go on for a long time (if you have the timer turned off). It's all about saving your beast mode for the right moment. It becomes a constant volley of beast to human back and forth losing health and recovering health.

As for the Two Towers you're completely wrong. That was actually a ton of fun if you like hack and slash games. The fact that it was on many systems doesn't mean crap (I remember it getting quite the praise across the board).

If he owns another system then he probably already knows about the multi console games but they should still be listed on the GC greatest games list. Which is why VJ and RE4 still apply.

Well, I have an Xbox with over 100 games, a PS2 with over 200 games, a sega saturn, sega dreamcast, sega genesis, PSP, N64, Super Nintendo, Lynx, Game Gear and every system imaginable. I like old school RPG, adventure games, and fun family type games. But I play everything from Puzzles, fighters, and sports, to 1st person shooters and stealth action. I'm not a fan of 1st person shooters(it gives me headaches) and anything Sonic, but everything else I am game.

The only games I want that are cross-platformed are those that have extras like Soul calibur 2, RE 4, Skies of Arcadia. thanks for all the help guys, this will keep me going until I can afford a next gen system. I almost sold off my sega saturn collection to buy a PS3, but I'm going to wait.

We only got a GC this past xmas and don't have a huge catalog of games yet, but perhaps I can still provide some useful input in spite of that.

Donkey Konga 1 is fantastic (I haven't tried DK2 yet, but it tends to get less cheers). DK1 is a must-have for certain.

Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix if you can get it at a reasonable price. Some DDR experts don't like Mario Mix, but I loved/love it, as do my kids. I've since picked up a PS2 and a couple DDR games for it, as DDR:MM hooked me on DDR games, and while those PS2 DDR games are great, I still love Mario Mix and in some ways like it better still, and my 4 and 6 year old boys love it better by far.

Super Mario Sunshine took some time for me to warm up to, and at times it is frustratingly difficult, but I did warm up to it and it is definitely a very worthy game. It's pretty massive and with so many inspired little touches. Great graphics, gameplay, humor, etc. Great stuff, just expect that you might have to give it some time to grow on you if it doesn't pull you in right away.

Mario Kart Double Dash goes without saying. Great game.

Skies of Arcadia legends is probably my favorite.

Notables:
Eternal Darkness
Super Mario Sunshine
LoZ:Wind Waker
RE0
RE-make
Tales of Symphonia

Mario Sunshine
Zelda Wind Waker
Resident Evil 0,1,4
Pikmin 1 or 2
Metroid Prime 1
Mario Kart DD
Smash Bros. Melee
Super Monkey ball 1 or 2
Tales of Symphonia

These are my top picks, most have already been mentioned

Animal Crossing (infinite replay value, the game is like sims on crack)
Baten Kaitos (beautiful RPG card based battle system, love it or hate it)
Bomberman Generation (4 player madness, the single player is at least somewhat decent)
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (underappreciated platformer that uses the bongo peripheral, excellent graphics and gamplay)
Donkey Konga 3 (only if you're willing to import and enjoyed the previous 2, DDR with drums if you will)
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (this game will make you think you're crazy, seriously)
F-Zero GX (best racer i've EVER played, difficulty is pretty high though)
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (one of the best games to ever grace the little cube, SRPG, if you enjoyed previous iterations of the FE franchise buy this NOW)
Harvest Moon: Magical Melody (best HM since 64, must have if you're a HM fan)
Ikaruga (shoot'em up, brutally hard, but if you have a buddy who will sit with you on this you should be okay)
Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition (need i say more?)
Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure (the single player is pretty good, i hear its madness with 4 though)
Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (best graphics i've ever seen, its like playing a cel shaded cartoon, briliiant art direction and gameplay is top notch)
Luigi's Mansion (i thoroughly enjoyed the game, but thats up to you)
Lost Kingdoms 2 (best card based rpg i've played to date, give it a shot if you can find it)
Megaman Anniversary and X Collection (nostalgia)
Metroid Prime (faithful recreation of the metroid feel and the game that brought me into the metroid franchise)
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes (not quite as good as prime, but it holds its own with new abilities and returning ones)
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (pseudo-rpg, great localization, gameplay is top notch)
Pikmin 1+2 (hard to describe)
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (platformer, you either love or hate it)
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (ditto., though it took me a good chunk of willpower to finish it)
Prince of Persia: Two Thrones (made me feel glad that i finish WW, satisfying conclusion to the three part game)
Resident Evil 1 REmake (tank controls, brutal difficulty, hope you're a mashochist)
Resident Evil Zero (ditto)
Resident Evil 4 (assuming you don't have a wii)
Soul Calibur 2 (inclusion of link is reason enough)
Starfox Adventures (its like playing a furry link)
Starfox Assault (air missions = awesome, foot missions = teh sux)
Super Monkey Ball 2 (great for multiplayer)
Super Smash Bros Melee (need i say more?)
Tales of Symphonia (great RPG, story is a bit cliche, but hey its a good game)
Viewtiful Joe (love this game, its like capcom took everything awesome about a beat'em up, added flash and more substance, and thats viewtiful joe)
Viewtiful Joe 2 (pretty good sequel, more save points strewn about)

Although it's multiplatform, Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitters Future Perfect are funny FPS' with great characters and a kickass multiplayer. I like the GC controller the best...
Pac-Man Vs. is awesome, only multiplayer though.
You don't deserve to live without SSBM.
Pikmin is a creative strategy game made by Miyamoto.
...Smash Bros?
Honestly. There is no way that this game should have taken as long as it did to be mentioned.
