If this is the wrong board or old news sorry! Anyways, I just went to cancle my gamefly membership since it was taking a little too long for me to receive games, and also because sometimes they just are not getting here at all, when I did a special offer poped up. It said they didnt want to loose me as a costumer blah blah blah. Bottom line is it offered to give a one time offer of 2 games out at once for only $15. Makes it worth it to keep the service going for one month.

I thought I would let everyone here know since this can save $7 or it may make some people consider signing up for a month or two.

I think this is the standard offer you get when you quit. A bunch of other people got the same offer a while ago. Still good to know though.

I think I'm going to try this right....now! Thanks OP!

EDIT: Actually, before I do this, how long into the cancellation process does it take? I just don't want to be SOL.

i would though they would stop that. cause

go to best buy and buy a 2 month prepaid membership 21.95

quit after those 2 first months and get a month at 15?

3 months will total 37 bucks + 5 gamefly reward (since you was a member for 3 months)

normally this would run you 66 bucks almost 50% off ... dont know how many times you would be able to do this before gamefly caught you : )

you get the $14.95 offer sometimes when you call to quit. After you quit, you get an e-mail about once every two months offering you $14.95 for the first month to join again.

I tried Gamefly almost 2 years ago with their free 2-week offer, and was unimpressed by the long delivery times. When I canceled I had some email correspondence with their customer service team and was informed that they were planning to open up more shipment centers closer to the east coast to help with delivery times. Guess it's still pretty bad?

With next-gen pricing being at $59, it makes Gamefly-like services much more attractive...wish they could improve the delivery times.

Join GameznFlix and get 2 out at a time for $12.99 anytime. With 4 centers over the US, it ships alot faster than Gamefly.

I'm in Chicago and the delivery time is still inconsistent. Sometimes its decent, sometimes it's awful. FastReturn helps shave a few days off the turnaround time, but that seems to be inconsistent as well.

The only thing that keeps me around is that 360 games cost $60. But for the same price I could get a 1 game out membership at BlockBuster. At least that way I would always have one game out at all times.

i called them last xmas and they said that was just all RUMORS. Gamefly never plans on opening up a east coast shipping thing. if they are pulling in all this cash i dont seee why they dont

i live in indy and shipping is between 4- 7 days turnaround

figure if you play a game 3 days and you get 4 day turn around that is 4 games per cycle what is 4 bucks per rental. you can go to almost any video store and rent games cheaper then 4 bucks .

only reason i stay with gamefly is for the DS games. That is why im leaving again come mid june, there is nothing on the DS i want to play until Sept when i will join again

Yep yep yep. I called recently and gave them an earfull, in that message I mentioned how when I quit 2 years ago they told me they were opening an East Coast center to make things better, they responded they are still looking into it and want to but its very expensive.

Games are getting more and more expensive and harder and harder to find. On top of it quality is on the decline and reviews arnt always trustworthy now. If gamefly would either lower their prices even just a little, or finally do what they said they were going to years ago and open an east coast and it would be worth it.

And to the guy saying they are incosisent. Agreed. I am in Michigan and sometimes it is great and the same day I put something in the mail fast return kicks in and they have a new game to me within 3 or 4 days......other times however it takes a week or even two weeks to get back to them and an equal amount of time to receieve a new game.

This is the first GameFly thread I could find, and I just wanted to say how pissed off I am with GameFly. For how much they charge, the service is awful. They buy games for wholesale, sell most of them off when they can still get good money for 'em ($52 for Burnout Revenge 360 week before last)... so their membership fees are probably damn near 100% profit, before operating/postage costs.

Top 3 Reasons For Hating GameFly:

#3. Overpriced. Membership fees should be half of what they are, considering what they offer.

#2. Illogical. They sell new games, then the next week it has a short or long wait? If they don't have enough games to feed their subscribers then they SHOULD NOT SELL IT YET.

#1. SLOOOOW. I shipped American Wasteland back to them Monday morning. They still haven't marked it as being shipped back to them, 4 full business days later. They'll probably make it as received tomorrow, and then on Friday ship my next game, which I won't recieve until Monday or Tuesday (due to Sunday's lack of postal service)... that'll be a full week without a game. I live in Seattle. Not the surrounding Seattle area, I'm IN SEATTLE, the city with the most gamers per capita (fact).. the closest ship center is almost central cali. Ridiculous.

I hate them too....but they are the best gamerental service around for now....freaking sucks...but its true.

I feel as I should also note to potential subscribers, I'm not being throttled or anything like NetFlix does to high-volume renters.

I've rented five games in seven weeks, five games between 4/3/06 and today. Works out to $4.80 per game, when I only kept each for a few days.

gamefly is staying in buisness by misleading his customers that wait they have put on games to the east coast is how they keep there games in stock.

They wont fix that 'problem' cause they make alot of money off it they would have to buy more games to keep up with that demand.

Also I belive they use that lag to even out the stock they keep in top priority for trial members tricking them into thinking gamefly is a fast service once they pay there shipping times slow down for another new member.

Bottem line do you know how much it costs for them to run gamefly commertials 24 hours a day on g4 and other channels? PLENTY.

That alone proves they could afford to exspand on the east coast if we all got our games when we wanted them our backlog would be small they figure people woudlnt keep coming back.

They probably receive your games in 2 business days but delay for an additional 3 days in order to ensure they make a profit off you. The same sort of logic applies to their "lost in the mail" problems. What company that loses so many $50 items in the mail wouldn't opt for tracking & delivery confirmation? Gamefly is garbage.

I just tried to cancel my 1-game plan ($15/month) and they offerred $10 a month. I'd rather they have offerred a free one-month upgrade to a two-game plan, then I could ship one back every time I get a game and I could get the amount of rentals brick and mortar rental shops offer.

I can't wait for the second my Blockbuster starts carrying 360 games.

that 10 bucks per month. was that a one time deal or is that 10 bucks per month until you cancell .... If they would offer me 10 bucks per month 1 at a time i would jump on it in a second.

im going to try to cancell next friday as my memebership runs out around
june 2. If they offer me 2 games at 15 for one month i take it. If Not I will drop down to the 1 game per month for 15 for one month so i get my 5 gamefly dollars. and then cancell come July 2

I think gamefly would get a lot more people if they would either do one of two things

1 game 10---- now 15
2 games 18---- now 22
3 games 25--- now 29

or go to faster shipping. ALLOW people to report when they put the game into the mail to make the shipping faster.

Say i return a game on monday i should be able to put in monday morning i put a game in the mail so another game would ship monday.

now say if that game isnt back within 7 days you would get a strike and 3 stikes would knock you out of this way to report and you will be force to go back to a normal delivery system

or

do a prepaid membership for cheaper. I know if i could get 2 games for a year for say 180 i would do it

If NetFlix can have 1-day delivery to all metro areas, GameFly has no excuse for what is currently 4 and counting... they don't need to change their prices if they stop screwing over customers in turnaround.

They're obviously capable of much faster turnaround, as proven by their awesome service during trial periods, but they take a nice big dump on their customers as soon as the trial ends. Somebody needs to report them to the BBB, it's essentially lying to a customer to get them to buy a product that isn't offerred. I take the trial, enjoy the service, and as soon as I start paying it goes to shit. It should be illegal.

They better watch it I heard netflix is introuble for pulling the que wait on paying customers and fast delivery on the trial members.

Hopefuly gamefly gets it next.

netflix also has like what 20+ places they send games out of compair to 1 for gamefly

gamesnflix.com has been great to me. They get my returned games in 1 or 2 days. Then send another right away. Which I get in a day or two. To me, they run a great service. The only thing i find bad about them is they don't offer ds games.

Nooooooooo!

Gameznfuckx sucks big time. I tried them out as an alternative to Gamefly as well, but they never had anything in stock, their website navigation sucks. AND they send broken discs.

IMO they are not even an option.

Personally, I can't complain about Gamefly. I dont think I've waited more than 3-4 days for a game. They're also very good about letting me know when they'll be closed for holidays (I got an email this week about Memorial Day).

I pay 21.95 a month, and probably 40 more when I buy a game each month. Typically I used to spend at least 100 a month on games, so I'm saving some money, which is always good.

Now I just need to decide if I want to keep Rockstar Table Tennis or not.

I noticed on a post Best Buy offers a two month prepaid plan for $21.95. Three questions:
1) How many games are shipped in this plan?
2) Is it still available?
3) Can I use this multiple times?

I really want to get back into console gaming. For a couple years, I've only been playing DOTA and WOW. I finally sold my WOW account a few days ago, and I'm free to play other games now. Renting is probably my best option to catch up on so many games I've missed out on the past couple years (I've had Suikoden 3 for years and NEVER played it).

1. 2 games at a time. (dont know if you can upgrade)
2. yes its been going on since Fall 2004
3. maybe . some have said they been doing it for months, BUT others have stated that Gamefly has started to crack down so i would run out and buy 10 of them

you might see gamefly start to crack down harder cause back in April best buy was selling these for 12 bucks + you got a 10 buck gift card

Making them 2 bucks after gift card.

so you might really see gamefly start to crack down

i got 2 of them for 12 bucks each. Used one in April (membership expires sunday) I probally stay and downgrade to 1 at a time for 1 month (to get the 5 Gamefly bucks)

i probally try to use my other one between Late aug to oct

depending on where you are (city) it might be cheaper to rent at a local game store. once you got back to normal prices

22 bucks per month my avg is 5 day turn around shipping but add in playing time

1 day play time (6-7 days total) = 4 rentals = 8 = 3 bucks per rental
5 days play time 10-11 days = 3 rentals = 6 = 4 bucks per rental

i can get the same prices at a local store (even cheaper on some) only reason im with gamefly is for the Ds games . once the ds games run out i will leave

Getting the DS games is definitely a perk, especially since you can then opt to buy them. I think Brain Age was like $16 and then the next game came. with the fast shipping feature (which works when I ship from DC), I think there is a total of 3-4 days between games.

I actually use it for PSP movies when I am travelling because I would never pay for any of those, but they are useful for plane rides .

It took me roughly two weeks to beat Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits. It was a 30-35 hour game. And that was when I didn't have summer school. I may play less than usual because I have a class everyday now. It's also the kind of class that I have to meet with other students during my free time. Blockbuster only rents out games for a max. of one week, don't they? The Gamefly prepaid plan will probably work out for me though I may be overpaying.

i hate gamefly even more now. They are putting games in my Q what is not even in the Q anymore.

Tuesday i had

Hot shot golf PSP in Q. but noticed it was short wait

Removed the game WEds and put Monster hunter PSP in first spot.

Tuesday - hot shot golf PSP SHORT WAIT NOTHING SHIPS
Weds - Hot shot golf PSP SHORT WAIT NOTHING SHIPS
Thursday Hot shot golf PSP SHORT WAIT NOTHING SHIPS

Friday i pull the game out of my Q

FRIDAY HOT shot golf PSP SHort wait NOTHING SHIPS

they screw me out of 3 days cause they keep Jumping over the Games that says NOW and putting a short wait game into the Q spot

Tuesday hot shot was rank 1
WEds was ranked 4th
Thurs was ranked 6th

and wasnt even in my Q friday. Screw gamefly

after being ripped off I again signed up with these guys and ofcoarse there not shipping things in the right order 'i didnt use a trial i actualy paid full price' I guess I just wanted to check if they still treated trials and subscriptions diferently.

wasnt offered a plan to stay , so i went down to 1 game at a time for 15. (so i get my free 5 bucks)

After the 3rd month im leaving though

i think its just some stores that carry 360. Just like some stores carry PSP and DS games.

Locally our store just started to carry the 360 and psp games. BUt will NEVER carry Ds Sad

Can we compile a list of shipping centers from these companies. Especially those of you that can confirm with return addresses on the games you recieve? Might be a good way to find out which of these comparable services could turn games around to you the quickest. I was thinking about trying one of these out, but it sounds like I can get more game for my buck if I find the closest distribution center

Here's a start, and add to it if you can:

from the Gamerang site:
Gamerang ships from Santa Ana, CA; Purcell, OK; Englewood, NJ; Crystal, MN

According to Wikipedia:
Gamefly ships from Inglewood, CA

GameZnFlix currently has 6 distribution centers in El Centro, California (near San Diego), Franklin, Kentucky (near Nashville), Sterling, Colorado (near Denver), Worcester, Massachusetts (near Boston), Maryland, and Florida (opening in June).
Future distribution centers are planned for Texas, Northern California, and Washington during 2006

that's an interesting scenario. Doesn't it normally just skip to the next game in your Q in there is a short wait? Right now World Cup is on a short wait (no surprise since it starts this week), so its now shipping Mario 64 on DS.

I think I'm going to bite on that BB deal of 2 mos/2 games out. then I'll try and cancel and get the third month for cheap. If these game rental companies prioritize their newest members deliveries you could theoretically jump from service to service taking advantage of introductory offers and noob pampering. It's playing dirty... but hell, they started it.

nope takes them in order cause a short wait game could come in that day

What is also BS is a game has to be in stock to do a fast return.

take this for example

game B is already out on this example

I Return game A on monday
Game A is fast return on Tuesday
game B ships out on Tuesday

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game B comes out on weds

I return game A on monday
Game is fast returned on Tuesday But dont show it cause no games in Q
Game B comes out weds BUT wont ship till Friday or saturday when Game A shows back up

so instead of game B shipping on Weds it dont ship till Saturday

So they mostly screwed you out of 3 days ever time that happens

and the people who are buying the 2 games at a time plan from Best buy. They do not offer you a discount price after the first two months since you already was at a special price. You will pay full price the 3rd month

well how could it be prepared to ship (in the packaging), if they dont have it yet? Thats the reason I always assumed that it worked that way.
well how could it be prepared to ship (in the packaging), if they dont have it yet? Thats the reason I always assumed that it worked that way.
Yes but if i send a game back on monday it gets fast return on tuesday. The game should go out on WEDS not Saturday when they get the game back
how exactly does the fast return work?
poorly, at least in my experience.

but seriously, it's some backdoor handshake between GF and USPS, where the post office notifies GF of their receipt of a game (the one you're returning). GF then ships your next game to you without actually waiting for the first game to come back, as they've already got USPS' word that it's on its way.

i've had it work all of one time in the last 2 months.
Yes but if i send a game back on monday it gets fast return on tuesday. The game should go out on WEDS not Saturday when they get the game back
Wasnt your original comment that you didnt like that they couldn't do fast return on games that aren't currently in stock. Well if you sent the game back on Monday, the game wouldnt be able to ship until they have the next game you want in stock.

My understanding with Fast Shipping is that when you send out your game, when the post office receives it, they are able to scan it and notify Gamefly that you have returned a game. Based on this, they then ship the next game in your Q as quickly as possible even if the next game hasn't gone out.

For example in my experience, let's say I had Oblivion and Gun checked out (based on a true story). I decided to keep playing Gun and ship back Oblivion. I think after about 1 day, the post office notified Gamefly that I returned Oblivion and notified me that my next title was shipping. Typically with fast return, I end up getting a new game about 4-5 days after returning the initial game. If you ask me, this is pretty quick (especially since I usually have another game to play already).

Does that make sense?

sorry to be dense but does "fast shipping" only work when you mail games out on Monday? Or do they do "fast shipping" everyday on every game you return?

So I opened my account on Saturday and got my games on Monday. I beat one of the games last night and mailed it back to them today. My Q hasn't updated yet. I don't know if this fast shipping works for me.
So I opened my account on Saturday and got my games on Monday. I beat one of the games last night and mailed it back to them today. My Q hasn't updated yet. I don't know if this fast shipping works for me.
they are crap, so i signed up on a thursday, ordered fifa 06 and condemned, on monday fifa 06 arrives...but no condemned, waited till wednesday (yesterday) , filed a lost game thing, they said give it 7 days, filed another one today...i better not get charged for this lost game

fast shipping runs through the post office, so I think the post office needs to be open for it to happen.

Americanpierg, if you just signed up on Thursday, that's pretty impressive that you got one game already in one business day. I would guess you would receive Condemned today or tomorrow.

In the spirit of World Cup, I got the new Fifa game for 360. My friend at 1up.com said it wasn't very good, but I played the hell out of it yesterday. I'd give it at least a 7.5/10. I'm on the fence about keeping it after the World Cup is over. I'm sure I'll just send it back.
