All Playstation 1 games $2 (both used & new)

GR is clearing out their stock of Playstation one games for $2 a piece. Get them while they last.

DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Interesting news from the GR manager at a store close to me, adding credence to some earlier posts from a few weeks back. She reports that the 100 least profitable GR locations are going to be closing up this fall, with stock transferred to other stores. If this is true, that means 25% of GR locations will be closing up (400 GR stores in the US I believe as of now).

She indicated that there is a list of the stores closing, but wouldn't share it with me ;-) All she would say is that none of the Central Florida (Orlando-area) stores are closing, since they all make a lot of money for BB apparently. Heads-up though if you have a ghetto GR that doesn't do a lot of business - it might be gone in a few short months.

I don't see how they make money... I know I always took advantage of the $29.99 preorder trade deals and only really bought stuff when there was a Buy X Get X Free sale, %-off, or clearance. But that's just me... At least it's nice to know I'll still be able to keep trading.

Because there are plenty of people who don't know anything about trade deals or sale deals and just go in and buy whatever crap they have. There are certain cases where, for example, I think I'm the only person who trades in games at my Blockbuster and I rarely see anyone buy games there. If that were a GameRush, it would probably be closed.

The one closest to me couldn't be losing money. I don't see it going anywhere. Some of the other locations nearby...have idiotic managers that are clueless about video games and will probably be transferring their stock to the store closest to me. I asked for New Super Mario Bros. at one of these locations and the guy told me that they no longer order new DS games for that store because the DS is dead and people only buy PSP games. What's funny, is that their DS/GBA games always move fast there because they're out on the shelves, and the PSP games are locked in a case...and are collecting dust. They're mostly launch titles with the original price tags on them. He went on to say that there are a lot more games released for the PSP and that there were hardly any games released for DS. With knowledge like that in a manager, it's no surprise that some of these stores might not be doing so well. Does Blockbuster actually let their managers choose what product they carry in their stores? Is any corporation really that stupid?

They make a killing if their Gamerush is run correctly. Trading games means you get product for pennies on the dollar. You're not paying out cash. Ideally, you're paying out other used product and rentals. If enough people that trade in used games use their credit on other used games, then basically every used game that's traded in is free and you can turn $1,000 worth of used game product into $20,000 in used game product in a couple weeks. This model works very well for any time of retail store that takes in used product for store credit: video games, cds, comic books, baseball cards, etc. Gamerush does a decent job of keeping their trade-in prices low enough that you can't really abuse them unless another store (like CC) is having some insanely low clearance sale. Even then, only a small percentage of GR customers are going to know about a sale like that and know that the trade-in prices are high enough to turn a profit.

Dammit, dammit, dammit. I've been told by a former employee that my GR is losing money big time - but NOT because of the GR side which is doing well. It is because of the movie side. So I wonder what that means in terms of your news. He also told me he wouldn't be surprised if they close the store when the lease is up - but that wasn't for at least another year. So maybe I'm OK through Fall anyway. I know I've done my part - trading mostly at other BB's and spending all the credit at the one GR. That has to help them out, right? Plus I've been buying many clearance games and used games to transfer to EB credit.

However, this makes me hesitant to build up any more GR credit. I might have nowhere to spend it unless I start making more trips to Atlanta (which I might actually be doing soon).

So, any more confirmation on the deals tomorrow? In particular, I'd be interested to see what, if any, increases in the clearance percentage will happen. And of course the specific terms of the $5 bonus deal.

lol luckily for me theres so many freakin gamerushes around here that losing 2 wouldnt be so bad, a lot of them dont even show up on the gamerush locator anymore

So is there a chance of the clearance items moving to 75% off tomorrow? I'm going to take some of the CC games to trade in tomorrow with the $5 bonus and I'll probably buy at least one of the clearance games to see if there was a drop.

Here is my haul for today:

Xbox NHl Hockey 2k3- $1.25
PS2- Haunting Ground- $19
Xbox- Flatout - $24

One CC i go to had about 10-15 Flatouts left...I bought 3......so that means there is about 8-12 left.

Ill have to grab some flatouts...If that $5 os true thats a $20 profit. Not to bad if you want to buy a DS Lite for half off.

I was planning the same thing. There's three GR's close enough to me that I can trade in two or three unique titles per location. Of course none of the $19+ value games are easy to come by in my area. I'm hoping the $5 bonus deal turns out well, and that the value for the Atari games hold, so in combination with the $15 off $100 coupon starting again, I can give into temptation and not wait for navy or black to come out.

Someone go to gamerush early tomorrow (preferably before noon) and bring back info on the +5 dollar deal so i can go trade in my games before classes start.

Why don't you go early and tell us?
That doesn't make any sense..
alright fine, ill go early tomorrow morning. since my 360 didnt sell on ebay, i decided to dump the games and sell the system itself. im gonna be trading in The Outfit, PGR3, NBA 2k6, Condemned, Kameo, and Burnout Revenge. That should give me a decent 30 dollars extra in trade credit. I'll tell you how it goes.

I plan on going early tomorrow to trade my last copy of flatout, haunting ground, and nightmare. I will check on the $5. Even though the reported deal is 6/26 I have always found GR/BBV deals start on tuesday normally, regardless of the date.

I just called all 5 local GameRush stores; out of the five clerks I spoke to, only two knew that the promotion existed. Both clerks said that they didn't know the details yet, but that the deal starts Tuesday, not Monday. One of the guys said that he won't know details until he sets it up tomorrow night, and told me to call back then. Has anybody else heard differently today?

I wonder if I should just trade my stuff tomorrow and pass on the bonus, or risk that the value of my CC games might drop more than the $5 bonus on Tuesday. :whistle2:k

Well Haunting Ground hasn't dropped in price since January, and Flatout has only dropped from 27 to 24 since Jan, so I'm guessing you're probably safe till Tuesday with those two!

Given that those are two of the games I'll be trading, I think I'll take my chances.
I hardly cleaned anything out - but I did buy 1 copy of just about everything I could find to decide later if I really wanted them. Like I said, most of it is stuff like Finding Nemo, SpongeBob, Scooby Doo, NFSU2, Dig Dug, etc... But I also passed on several things like Burnout Legends, Trace Memory, Polarium, etc. Also, Tigard had several FF IV as of last night so you might want to get there ASAP if you want that! The only multiples I bought were of things like Matrix and Driver (that I had traded into BB previously) so I could qualify for the $15 off $100 coupon. Then I will most likely return these using my original $9.99 or $8.96 receipts. Pretty much all of the CC's are still overflowing with these games.

Anyway, none of this is GR related, except for the fact that I could buy a few of these games for $20 at GR, which makes them about the same price as I'm paying at CC anyway.
I went to the Clackamas and Gateway stores yesterday and both were absolutely cleaned. What a waste of time eventhough I had to go to Portland anyway. It seemed like they pulled the games off the shelves. I didn't go to the Tigard store, how was the situation there?

Ha, I just responded to you in the CC sale thread - those stores DID pull all the games. Clackamas, in particular, I think pulled them way back on Thursday. So they will have alot out next Sunday presumably. At Gateway they had just finished pulling them when I was there on Saturday. I haven't been to Tigard since last Thursday, so I'm not sure about them.

BREAKING NEWS: I just got finalized details on the clearance/trade specials and here it is. TRADE SPECIAL STARTS ON TUESDAY 06/27 AND NEW CLEARANCE PRICES START ON MONDAY 06/26.
Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.
All current clearance games will become 75% off their original price. In other words, take the current clearance price and then take another 50% off of that to get the new price. For example, a game marked $19.99 will become $5.00

All used accessories will NOT be 50% off anymore and will go back to the marked price

There you have it CAGers! Have fun and let's start turning that GR credit into some quality GS/EB with the new GR prices until their bonus ends.

where did you get this info?

Oh noes, this means I have to buy EVEN MORE clearance games (on the heels of all the CC games). There were several I was waiting on 75% for. Man, for $5 in GR credit I'll buy just about anything :D. I'm sure others will test this out before me, but I'll be there some time tomorrow.

Hmmm, I may finally trade my last XBOX games away....except MVP 2005. I may have to try CC again for some cheap games.

Anyone find the trade in price for Castelvania:COD yet?

So, do the new accessories go to 75% off, or back to regular price?

Xbox Live kits for $17.50 in GR credit would last quite a while.

I might set up accounts for my cats if they ring up at that price. :)

Now I wonder how I go about returning/rebuying my SSX On Tour to get my $5 in GR credit back. I know they hate returns at GR.

I think I will also have to head down to the other GR and pick up the rest of their SH4s to trade to EB.

Do we think that the Atari games (Getting Up and Driver: PL) will drop from their current $16 on Tuesday? I'd rather return them than bother making a whole $5 credit profit today, so I guess I will just wait and find out.

lol i have a couple things to say

1. didnt someone say early that accessories were going to be full price now? and if its 75% off at 17.50, thats the 12 month one right? if thats the case I will be set till the end of the xbox 360's lifespan...even though i wont have one after this month.

2. How do you guys find these Silent Hill games? Theres so many games there, do you search through every one?

Yeah, but in the case of this store, they're all locked up under the counter, so I had to ask about them. Only reason I bothered is because I had called the store a few days earlier and they said they had a few copies. No one has had anything besides the new SH4s though.

lol i love how he just steals pieces of the list from work, can u get the xbox 360 list pleaseee

So the 75% off sale is actually a reprice, so the games will ring up at the 75% off price without hitting the total button. I looked at the list at one of the stores and none of the accessories were included in the repricings.

Picked up pretty much everything I had waited for:

DS:
Feel The Magic - $5

Xbox:
Batman Begins - $5
Crash Twinsanity - $5

PS2:
Devil May Cry 2 - $5
Rise Of The Kasai - $5
Shadow Of Rome - $7.50

GCN:
NBA Street V3 - $7.50
SSX On Tour - $5

Oh, and a trade-in value:

PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient (PSP) - No Buyback Price

Sucks that they won't take it as I had it lined up for the extra $5 deal.

One more thing: Die Hard never came out for the PS2, but thanks for the trade-in prices.
So do you think the Xbox Live kits went back up to $70?
I honestly couldn't wager what they'll ring up at, but it would be my assumption that they are indeed $70 again. I'm guessing that GR just turned off the 50% off sale when they repriced the items. I'm just speculating here though.

Just got back from trading in the last of my CC items. It looks like Flatout PS2 will hold for another week, I watched them sticker it $39.99 after I traded it in. I hit up a 2nd store for the 75% off games. Here is what I ended up picking up...

Metroid Classics GBA $2.50
Mr Driller DS $5
Otogi Xbox $5
Riddick Xbox $5
Castlevania Lament PS2 $5
Pikmin 2 GC $7.50
Dead or Alive Ultimate Collection Xbox $5
Killer 7 GC $3.75
Suffering Xbox $5
Metal Gear 3 Snake Eater $5
Silent Hill 4 Xbox $5

Total $53.75 + tax

I didn't realize Mr Driller was included, but it was tagged in the store for $5. They were thrilled to check games for me since they have inventory this week and want to get rid as much as possible. BTW the second store I hit had the accessories tagged 75% off as well. Plus the manager indicated other stores were going to be shipping items to his store over the next week so he would be getting more in. Perhaps the regular blockbuster store are packing up whatever they have left and sending it to GR.

So all the prices have been updated?? Did the stores have any banners that said things were 75% off ? Did the GR people even know about the price drops? I've been eyeing Psychonauts and a few other titles. Is the $5 extra in effect as well? Can't wait to drop by after work.. Thanks for the updates.

The 2 stores I visited had no signs stating 75% off setup yet. The one store took the time to go through all the merchandise and tag it last night for the 75% off. The other store knew they dropped, but had not touched them in anyway and they were still tagged at 50% prices. You can take anything up to the counter and ask them to scan it now since they were price drops as shipwreck said...

All but the most inept of Blockbusters should know of the pricedrops as they came across in their weekly price update yesterday. I've yet to see any signage of 75% off, but that's not surprising and I don't know if they'll even do that or if they'll just use a generic clearance sign. As for the extra $5, it starts tomorrow 6/27.

Time to look through the list to see if there was anything else I had any interest in.. otherwise just need to wait for the extra $5 and attempt to return/rebuy a previous purchase.
