Current Sales Deals

All Playstation 1 games $2 (both used & new)

GR is clearing out their stock of Playstation one games for $2 a piece. Get them while they last.

DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki
I called up gr to get trade in values and was told the following:

Ps2:
$16 Marc Ecko's Getting Up (Not sure if LE or regular)
$24 Flatout
$16 Driver Parallel Lines
Might take another trip to CC this week! Thanks!
Awesome... they drop Path of Neo to $12 pretty much on time when the new price drops to $20. But for two other games, they wait a week, and then drop the trade-in to, what, the same price as the used sale price?
At my GR they were selling the Driver I turned in used for $34.99 hah.

I just called GR - they quoted $19 each for Haunting Ground and Nightmare Before Christmas PS2, so those prices held up for another week.
Anyone know the best titles to pick up for transfering GR credit to EB/Gamestop?
We discussed this several pages back, but the best I (and others) have found are Mega Man Anniversary (PS2) which is $10 after discount at GR and gets $8 at EB (plus bonus) and Silent Hill 4 for PS2 (also $10 at GR) which gets $9 at EB (Xbox version only gets $7). Also, any of the Silent Hill games if you can find them used at GR. Timesplitters FP might be a good one as well, though my GR didn't have any.

So they drop the prices to $16?? What is up with that? I was expecting $6. Oh well, $16 is enough to put an end to my shenanigans in any case - just not worth the trouble :D.

That is unless this trade-in deal is truly $5 extra per game... then they'll be back up to $21 which is better than we've been getting ;)

D'oh!

I might pick up Nightmare, Flatout, and Haunting Ground. At this point I plan to stay away from the Atari games, since I trade several in at the stores I visit. We should have several other games in the next 2 weeks when the xbox/gamecube games join the annual CC July clearance. Only question is how much credit do I really need? Planning on trying for a Wii and if that doesn't work a bunch of Wii games...

The National/McLaughlin SoCal GR finally had one DS Lite in stock, so I picked it up. In the process, got some new trade-in prices:

FIFA Street 2 PS2 - $6
Winback 2 PS2 - $19
Driver: PL PS2 - $16
DDR Extreme 2 PS2 - $19
Winning Eleven PSP - $18

Does anyone know how much Silent Hill 3 is used or new for PS2? I just read the Let's Play Silent Hill thread on Something Awful, and now I want to play through SH3. :D

Does anyone know what conflict vietnam for the xbox trades in for? Figure if the PS2 version gets $10 maybe the xbox will get something. I saw the xbox version for $2 at Kmart.
Perfect Dark Zero limited edition is $35 if no one else has said anything yet.
Still? I'm surprised it's held at that price for so long!

BREAKING NEWS: Starting 6/26, GR will have a trade 3 get an extra $5 PER GAME!! There are no stipulations as of yet but I will post more when I find out anything more. So hold off on those EB/GS trades for now!

Sounds good to me. Looks like we'll have a week or so to compare the deals between EB and GR.

IF this is true, then it might be worth it to pick up some more CC titles in case they drop on Tues. the 27th.

Yeah, guy at Gamerush ran this by me this morning... it's legit.

No idea if the game has to have a minimum trade in value or not...

They gave you $2.50 for Dark Alliance II ?!?! They were selling it used a couple weeks ago for $25. Ebay is even more than that.

This new deal would be just in time to pre-order Battle for Middle Earth 2 for the 360. Advance buzz has been good.

Also, GR now stocks the Nyko 360 fan and the new battery charger, if you're interested.

Thanks for posting this - I forgot to mention I picked up the Intercooler on my last trip, and saw the Quick Charge.

They still don't carry the Microsoft-branded wired controller, though. I'd like to pick one up with GR credit for cross-platform gaming.

Oh yeah, almost forgot! On the same day, ALL the games already on clearance will be MORE than the 50% it already is. How much more depends on the game. However, the used and new accessories will go back to full price.

It would be an awesome deal if GR actually had shit worth buying, but I'm not interested in their 40 used copies of Goblin Commander and GTA.

With EB / GS at least I get a ton of selection... I keep checking this thread for the eventual Gamerush closing down / huge clearance sale, but I guess I have a few more months to wait.

You could always save up the credit and buy games/systems that sell for close to retail.

The DS lite would be a decent item right now, on ebay its going for $110-140, which isnt too bad

Of course... I already got the only game I care to get from this deal (SSX On Tour). Ah well. Though I suppose I could always try a return/rebuy if it drops by any worthwhile amount ($5+).

What, your GR has an endless supply of these?? I actually want one for myself with my credit but they only got one fucking unit in... I'll wait...

Good news on the price drops. I wish I had held off on that last Mega Man Anniversary Collection for EB trade-in though :D. It is still sitting here, I suppose I could return it. There are a few more that become useful for GR->EB credit transfers if they go above 50%. There are also a few more games I'd pick up for myself and the kids.

And Roufuss, I'm with you on the reason for not needing even MORE GR credit. However, it appears EB's will be adopting GR's stone-age credit slip system and requiring us to dump all Edge card balances at a particular store around August or so (or so we've been told by EB/GS insiders in another thread). This will severly limit the usefulness of EB/GS credit in my opinion (and didn't you tell me your GS makes you spend the credit right then and there - no storing at all?). It will leave Blockbuster/GR as the only used game store with convenient, portable credit (in the form of value cards). If they were smart they would really take advantage of this. They could kick EBStop's ass in my opinion if they were run half-decently. Of course that would mean they would have to go back to having GR-specific employees and expand to a much greater area of the country, so it ain't gonna happen :D.

Oh yeah, that's a good point. I know one GR had a few more copies of Silent Hill 4, which would be even better pick ups.

I have a feeling a lot of the games I want to get rid of at GR probably won't meet a price restriction if one is set, unfortunately, so most of my trades will likely go to EB again.

Now to start figuring out if my $100+ credit at both stores will keep going towards DS games or if I start saving for Wii...

Is GS/EB credit only valid in that particular STORE you went to trade-in? Or is it a global credit at any GS/EB store (like GR)?

Also, will the CSR at GS/EB refuse games if, say, you bring in 5 copies of Silent Hill 4 to trade at one time?

Even though my GS makes me spend it at a particular store, I make sure in advance they have something I want so I'm not just trading in games and then wandering around the store for 20 minutes. You remember the time I had trouble spending $100 in GR credit, sold it for $85 I think, and found something at Gamestop to spend it on in under 5 minutes.

GR has to give you portable credit because their selection is so crappy :p

I think at GS you have to spend it in the store you traded at (usually I think you get paper slips that you can use later, though Roufuss's stores make him spend it immediately). EB has always had the Edge cards which are just like GR value cards. You don't need to buy their "sticker" for $15 (used to be $5) either - they will give you a card as a way to store credit. However, it appears they are getting rid of that and regressing to the GS method by end of summer.

And no, EB/GS will generally only take 1 of a single title at a time. You will need to find 4 different games from GR to bring in (to get the $10 bonus at EB/GS). Or find some cheap stuff from CC or Kmart.

They have the transfer kit too....which I may get for NCAA football 07 (assuming rosters are available to download)

Very n00b question. Are the deals on the list beginning 6/26 only for new games? I have some blockbusters around with a decent selection of used titles, then again I am not sure if blockbuster even participates in the deals the same way. Last time they were advertising cheap PS1 games for their tent sale for about a month and then didn't even get any in-stock

The same new games that have been 50% off for a long time and, apparently, are going to go to more than 50% off on the 26th are also on sale at regular Blockbusters. The problem is they will have a very weak selection, if any.

The trade 3 get an extra $5 deal should also be active at regular Blockbusters. The only trade-in deals regular BB's don't participate in are the preorder deals, but, sadly, we haven't had one of those even at GR in a long time.

So, anyone know if any of the games from the new Circuit City GBA/DS $8.96 thread trade in for anything worthwile at GR?

Tales of Phantasia maybe? I believe it's $30 new at GR.

Tales Of Phantasia dropped to $24.99 new at GR recently. For the most part, DS & GBA titles aren't worth very much in trade.

Holy crap, Phantasia is now $8.96?? Where have I been? Too bad I bought it at GR for $30...

You're not the only one...I had no idea that was on the clearance list...I would have definitely picked up one had I known.

And no, EB/GS will generally only take 1 of a single title at a time. You will need to find 4 different games from GR to bring in (to get the $10 bonus at EB/GS). Or find some cheap stuff from CC or Kmart.
That's kind of YMMV on the cashier at EB / GS... I've traded in multiples of the same game and they didn't care.

It won't actually be confirmed until tomorrow. It's wierd that DS and GBA games tend to trade in low...but they're all still priced at $20-25 each and move quickly (at least at my local stores). Console titles that trade in for a couple bucks tend to sell used for under $10. I'm guessing Best Buy gives less in trade for GBA/DS games because it's mostly kids that trade these in and they can get away with giving kids less in trade than adults. Kids rarely shop around for the best deals and are too young for Ebay.

Ah, looking around I see that it is not 100% confirmed but we ought to know by the morning. It is still $29.99 on CC web site. I already have Phantasia, but I'd be all over FF IV at CC if it is also really $8.96. Amazing... In that case I'd be glad my GR never got it :D.

CC just won't leave me alone!

And like Shipwreck, I doubt there's much trade-in fodder amongst the potential CC clearance GBA and DS games. But there's definitely some I want for myself!

HOWEVER, not too long ago some off the wall GBA games were getting $10 (like Batman Sin Tzu and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon). If GBA games qualify, and the bonus is really $5 per game, there might be a few possibilities. But probably nothing like the assorted Atari titles were getting. I'm not going to go nuts with these titles (however, expected upcoming GC and Xbox drops at CC might be another story).
