DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki
I'd be scared to see how many Dinotopia, Auto Modellista, Road Trip, Tube Slider, Galleon, and Steel Battalion I've traded in over the last year and a half. Kind of sad to see most of the old favorites take a drop this week!

I know what you mean.
Ys for PS2 is not $9.99 new at GR. Not a clearence game, but a good price.
Anyone want to pick up a Ys for me? All the GR's around me are extinct.
hey everyone,
i noticed that some games @ the GR i go to do not ring up at the clearance price. notably, SW:KoToR (XBOX), Mortal Kombat: Deception (PS2) and MegaMan X Collection (PS2 and GCN). i had the CSR scan them and they came out as regular selling price... any ideas why this might be?
(
I don't believe any of those games were ever on clearance. Maybe you found some earlier that were mistagged. I know KOTOR wasn't on clearance because the trade price has been holding at $7, which it wouldn't do it if had been clearanced (it was a good EB->GR transfer when it was on sale for $4.99 used at EB). MK Deception (regular) has not been on clearance for a while, if ever - either it was mistagged originally (because the premium pack WAS on clearance) or it was actually on clearance for a short while and then got removed. But I tried to buy one a few weeks ago and it was full price. And it is Mega Man Anniversary Collection, not Mega Man X Collection that has been on clearance (but once again people might have gotten X for the clearance price because clueless GR people tagged it instead).

And gizmogc - was that MKD for Xbox also mistagged (did they have to override it?) because I have seen that a few places tagged and rung up at $9.99. Or perhaps that is an original vs PH issue? At $5 it is a good credit transfer, and many regular BB's have it. I'll try it again if I see it today.

Just got back from my GR after trading in two Total Overdoses and two Matrix..es.

I got $17 each for Matrix, $14.50 on one Total Overdose, but only $9.50 on the second Total Overdose. Do you have to trade in multiples of 3 to get the extra $5? I want my $5, damnit, if that's wrong.

I got $58 on my card, and bought New Super Mario Bros. so I have $142.39 left on my card. The guy there was cool and he was training a new employee. Still no DS Lites in though. :(

I just bought a PH MKD for $5 yesterday.

To avoid looking suspicious, I gave my sister some games to trade in under her account since I had already traded in so many copies of the same game (driver parallel lines). But I forgot to tell her about the $5.00 bonus and assumed the cashier would automatically do it, but I was wrong.

I still got more credit than I paid for the games, but I can't help feeling a little cheated.
I just bought a PH MKD for $5 yesterday.
Interesting, I wonder if it is only PH version, because I think I tried the older one. Well, like I said, if I see one today I'll give it a shot and let you guys know. Just about to head out to GR and try my luck with some GBA games .

And aoLat, you got screwed - go back there and get your $5 ;)
And aoLat, you got screwed - go back there and get your $5 ;)
Son of a BITCH! Do you think I actually would be able to get $5 back when I go there the next time? :bomb:

My local BB still has some $7.99 Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings & The Lost Ocean (GC) left on the shelves. I can have it shipped for $13 (to cover postage, packaging, tax, gas, and time costs) if anyone still thinks it's a deal at that price and can't find it in their area.

The PSP Battery Packs are also down to $8.49 and I could probably ship those for $13 as well, but that doesn't really seem like that great of a deal with the extra fees.
Anyone know the current trade in for Flatout PS2/XBX & Monster Hunter? I am thinking about trading in my last one or returning it to CC.
Traded in an Xbox Flatout yesterday (7/21) for $19 (w/o $5 bonus).

Does anyone know if Galleon and Tron2.0 are still getting $12 and $9.50 respectively? I've seen a few for $5 at the TRU clearance.
I just bought a PH MKD for $5 yesterday.
Must be a PH vs regular edition issue then, because I took a regular Xbox Mortal Kombat Deception, which was marked $19.99 up to the register and they scanned it and it came back $14.99. I think I've only seen the regular versions around, though I swear they were tagged $9.99 at normal BB's.

Anyway, found YET ANOTHER regular BB that does the $5 bonus deal, and after a bit of effort  was able to get some trades completed. I also got shot down on GBA games at my GR again :whistle2:(.

All PS2:
Genji - $9.50
Gretzky NHL 06 - $9.50
Gretzky NHL 05 - $6 (free at Best Buy - I found 1 amongst 4 different Best Buys)
Lemony Snicket - $6 ($2 at Kmart)
Total Overdose (x2) - $9.50

So, between the two stores I made $80 from $21.96 spent at Best Buy and Kmart. My CC's have NOT restocked Total Overdose like others have reported, so I'm getting mine now for $5 from Best Buy :D. I think I'm going to stop trading those and Genji now though.

Some quotes:

PS2 Conflict Desert Storm II - $7 ($5 at Kmart, meh, not sure if I'll bother)
GBA Wing Commander Prophecy - $4.50
GBA James Pond and Powerpuff Mojo Jojo A-Go-Go - one was $1.50 and the other was $1, I forget exactly.

It is so sad, at my GR the clearance games have been reduced to one small tote - and they are nearly ALL sports games .

Don't worry, io, I was confused. I actually bought an MK: Deadly Alliance. I don't much care what the games are, so I don't remember well. :D
Does anyone know if Galleon and Tron2.0 are still getting $12 and $9.50 respectively? I've seen a few for $5 at the TRU clearance.
They gave me $12 for Galleon this weekend.
Don't worry, io, I was confused. I actually bought an MK: Deadly Alliance. I don't much care what the games are, so I don't remember well. :D
Ah, well, that makes a difference - I've traded that as well! Still, like I said in the EB thread, it looks like that one dropped from $3 to $1 in the last 2 days, which is a pretty big drop for EBStop.

In response to the last few posts - you people are still able to find Galleon at TRU?? Those were all gone at every TRU I went to a year or so ago when they were $10 (and traded for $24 or so at GR). That and Tron are LONG gone from any TRU I know of. There were NEVER any Galleon local to me actually - I only found them on the East Coast but not in the last several trips I've made there.
So how much is Ys new for PS2?????
$10. Just bought and traded one to EB today.

Picked up about thirty GR clearance games today. I'm seriously plowing through my GR credit. I've got the kids tomorrow, so we'll spread that out among the EBs in the area. There are a few in the extended radius that have some of the EB->GR transfer games.

I'm starting to run out of trade fodder for GR tradeins. :whistle2:s I found a cache of Total Overdoses today, but nothing to really go with them.

Here's the last of the H's for PS2. Also, I don't remember if I updated about this last time or not... I rechecked Gran Turismo 4 for PS2 after it being reported as only $6, but our computer system is still showing a trade in value of $30 (even though we sell it for like $15). Perhaps this is only our store or only certain types of stores. We're definitely not a franchise store, nor a GR. Just a plain ol BB. Maybe a few other people could try getting quotes for it at their local BB? Just a thought.

How come the list has games that weren't released in the United States? Is Gamerush a global company or are they just able to take in imports that are already in English? Sorry if this has been asked already.
How come the list has games that weren't released in the United States? Is Gamerush a global company or are they just able to take in imports that are already in English? Sorry if this has been asked already.
They prolly just list all games they have come to them. They have games that aren't even out yet for a tradein of 35 and also have games that have been cancelled for 35.

Blockbuster is an international company with branches located in the UK (hence European release titles listed, but no Japanese release titles, AFAIK). Since the same database is used for all Blockbuster's nationwide, the computers here have UK titles listed and the ones in the UK have ones listed that were US release titles only. Given this "flaw", yes you could trade in import European games to BB/GR, but I doubt you'll turn any kind of profit on most of them.

Would they really accept the European format games? If BB tried to sell it here it wouldn't work on anyone's PS2 because it would be a different format, right?
Would they really accept the European format games? If BB tried to sell it here it wouldn't work on anyone's PS2 because it would be a different format, right?
I saw a couple of Genesis PAL games back when they still carried those, but I have no idea whether those were scanned in or the employee just looked up the names in the computer.
Would they really accept the European format games? If BB tried to sell it here it wouldn't work on anyone's PS2 because it would be a different format, right?
Most clueless employees would take them and most clueless customers would buy them and think they were broken. Eventually, they'd get returned and field destroyed for being defective.

I've found the occasional PAL PSX game in video game stores but I have a modified PSX so I can play those. I've also seen bootleg and import Gameboy games at EB/GS but since those are region free, they wouldn't cause any problems for customers.
Ys for PS2 is not $9.99 new at GR. Not a clearence game, but a good price.
Actually, it is a clearance game. That's 75% off of it's original $40 price tag and before that it was $20 during the 50%. It's been on the clearance list in the OP since day 1.

Anyone know what Ys trades in for at EB? I've got 2 sealed copies...trying to decide whether to trade them in or hold onto them as trade bait for here and GameTZ.
Would they really accept the European format games? If BB tried to sell it here it wouldn't work on anyone's PS2 because it would be a different format, right?
It depends on the cashier. If they aren't paying attention and just scan the barcode, yeah they'll accept it. And then problems will ensue when people buy it and it doesn't work. The only thing preventing you from trading in a European format game is the cashier paying attention.

So I guess my next question is will you get in trouble for trying to trade these?
So I guess my next question is will you get in trouble for trying to trade these?
Possibly. If people keep reporting the games you trade in as defective they may trace it back to you.
So I guess my next question is will you get in trouble for trying to trade these?
Not unless you do it excessively. Best case scenario, you trade in several PAL games, noone's the wiser, they sit on the shelf for months before being picked up.

Worst case scenario's
1) You try to trade it in and the cashier says, "Nope go to the UK if you want to trade this in you stupid fuck."
2) You trade in a couple games no problem, someone buys one and then realizes it's PAL. They return it BB starts checking for that from now on and when you go to trade it in next time they say nope.

Either way, once you've traded it in and the transaction is complete, there's nothing they can do about that specific transaction. Also, assuming they don't notice that it's a PAL game immediately, they have no way of bringing up the account that specifically traded in that game. However, if you continue to trade in PAL games at that store, the next time you go in, if they realize it's PAL and they bring up your account history and see you've traded in other PAL games, they can suspend your account (at least at that particular store, but most likely for that region).

So the long and short... you can get away with one or 2 at any particular store, but I wouldn't push my luck any more than that.

I think I'll stay away from PALs. I don't really want any extra attention from BB. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth.....

Well, I believe all the members of CAG did unanimously agree long ago that you are indeed an idiot, so this makes sense.

maybe a strange request, but i found a boatload of total overdoses at CC, but i need something to trade them in with at gamerush. does anyone know of anything good to buy cheap at EB to transfer to gamerush credit? i realize that this is the opposite of what most people are doing, but damn those total overdoses are more than tripling value at GR and i really need to find something cheap, preferably using my EB credit, to go with them.

THANKS

KOTOR, which is readily available at most EB/GS stores in mass quantity is $7.99 I believe, and trades for $7 (+ bonus) at GR. It was $4.99 a few weeks ago during their sale - I got 3 to trade then.

Then there are the games Botticus mentioned the other day - Tube Slider (GC), Dinotopia (GC), and a few others I forget. The problem is those are much more limited in availability. In the 15 or so stores near me only 1 had any of those games, and it was a GS so it is utterly useless (I'm not going to pay cash for them!). Fortunately I found some Kmart fodder to round out my last trades. Now I only have 1 game sitting in my GR trade-in pile.

Even though I have way more than enough GR credit, I feel like I'm missing out on the $5 bonus deal compared to last year. I think I'm addicted to trade-in profit. Though, of couse, part of the reason it was so much better last year was that you could combine it with the $29.99 preorder deal (at least at most stores anyway, including mine until the very last 2 weeks of the $5 bonus promo when they decided not to allow that ).

Tron for the xbox seems to have been restocked at several of my local TRU's. For some reason it seems every TRU has about 15 near me now... Believe it trades for $9 before bonus...

After moving about $310 in credit to $520 EB, I checked my value cards today. To my surprise I had more then I realized left. Bought a xbox 360 premium and have $100 left in credit now. Thanks to the $2 Kmart games and the CC credit builders. Figure I have the Wii credit at EB now and there was no reason to save the rest. I rather take my chances with the Wii at EB, even though I am not a fan of the chain I will give them a shot since with the credit I moved.

how much do these trade in as? the wiki isn't working for me

Call of Duty 2
Fight Night Round 3
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Prey
Madden NFL 06
Project Gotham Racing PGR 3
Dead or Alive 4

how did you move your credit?

My Gamerush got in about 20 clearance copies of Mercury for PSP today. It's not on the original list...dunno if it is on clearance at all stores or not. I believe it was $9.00.
how did you move your credit?
Buying the clearance games and trading them in to EB. There is a list with some of the highlights about 2 pages back...

Mortal Kombat Deception $5

Just noticed that that was on the clearance list, how come it came up as 19.99 in store? Are some items taken off the clearance lists now?

My BB had only $5 games, suprisingly most were non-sports. I'm waiting to find out if the EB/GS deal ends at the end of the day tomorrow, or it ended already before i move some credit.

Traded in these today, ALL of them got the $5 bonus :

GC Starsky & Hutch $1.25 (its $2 or $3 at CC)
Xbox Conflict Vietnam $1 ($2 at Kmart, its also $4 at CC, or even $5 at GR if you dare!)
Xbox Tron killer app $9.50 ($5 at TRU)
PS2 Total Overdose $9.50 ($4 at CC)

So with the $20 bonus I was able to squeeze $41.25 credit out of about $15 cash.
