DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Trade-In Price Wiki
A new copy of Flatout for Xbox is $19.99.

If it still trades for $19, you'd make $4 on the credit transfer. Not mind-blowing, but makes an easy-to-find filler, especially if you use EB credit from a GR>EB transfer.
Or $17.99 used.
Or $17.99 used.
True. Much better ROI. ;)

I'm just pointing out that the new copies are easier to come by, since I've had really abyssmal luck finding any of the other good used transfer games. Through about fifteen-twenty stores, all I've been able to find is a used Dinotopia (at a GS, no less, when all of my credit is EB - luckily I had a Clancy triple pack with me during the +10 sale). The website shows I could pick up a new copy of Flatout at about five stores in my normal shopping routes.

I really need to get around to running up to Rhino on East Colonial. I go up that way maybe once in a blue moon, and have still never been inside the building.

Called a BB and got these PS2 trade in quotes before $5 bonus:
Shadow of the Colossus - $19
Socom III - $16

Make the trades quick before they revise the trade in price!

Well dropped by GR yesterday. They looked like they were organinzing the video games area. They were adding new racks. They had a whole bunch of disc only games on a table for mostly 9.99. Anyways, I got a complete mint copy of Ikaruga GC for 24.99 . Not a bad deal I guess.

Traded in a bunch of stuff. Here are the prices before the $5 bonus.

True Crime: Streets of LA Xbox - $1.25
Phantasy Star Online Xbox - $1.25
Mega Man Anniversary GC - $1
Billy Hatcher GC - $1
Dead or Alive 4 XB360 - $27.50
Tony Hawk American Wasteland XB360 - $22
Fight Night Round 3 XB360 - $35
Tony Hawk Underground PS2 - $5
Wild Arms 3 PS2 - $ 1.25
GTA Vice City PS2 - $7
Super Smash Bros. Melee GC - $13.50
Tokyo XR 3 PS2 - $2.50
Way of the Samurai PS2 - $2.50
Time Splitters 2 Xbox - $1.00
Star Wars KOTOR Xbox - $7
Star Wars KOTOR 2 Xbox - $9.50

Good thing for the bonus $5....

One interesting thing, is that I preordered a couple games and the manager told me that they haven't received ANY games in a few weeks. I preordered Dead Rising and they made mention that as of right now they didn't have any on order. I think I am going to send an email to their DM and see what he says.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Has anyone else experienced this?
I haven't preordered anything in a few months, so couldn't say specifically, but it's been known to happen. I'm not sure what they have and have not received lately so couldn't say what I actually would have expected them to get or not.

I don't think you can really email the DM... only way I've ever been able to contact them is to leave a message through the regional office (number on receipts) and wait for him to call me back usually within a day.

I need to get around to figuring out what DS games they have in the system right now so I know what I need to preorder where this fall.
Has anyone else experienced this?
When Chromehounds was released, I called GR to see whether or not they got it in. They said no and that they didn't have any on order. Well a couple of days later I went in and of course they had recieved two copies. I don't see why they wouldn't recieve any copies of DR especially with all the hype it's been getting.
Anybody know when GR is getting Dead Rising?
The 8th-9th next week or on the 11th?
I wouldn't expect it before the 11th. With GR it seems some stores get them on fridays and the rest come in earlier in the next week...

Well its a sad day for me. Tonight all the clearance was being boxed up to be sent to another store. There was about 100 games being shipped out. There were still several MP2 & DOA Ultimates, but I had already cleaned the great credit movers out. I believe I know the store in the area receiving all the leftover clearance games and might check it out early next week. The other main store I visit boxed up what was left a few nights back. Funny thing is they were told not to box up clearance accessories.

Also I have noticed the trend reported above about games no longer being on order in the computer. They are still getting the games in, but they don't seem to bother with the on order anymore since it was wrong all the time anyways...

Which store was getting emptied and what store do you think they're going to? Don't worry, you'll beat me to them, regardless.:) I'm going out of town in the morning.

Everything is heading to the shallowford rd store is my guess. They had different items the last 2 times I was there. The manager there told me to check back when the 75% first started, since other stores would be sending them items. As far as I know none of the other stores in the area have anything left now. If they are moving it to shallowford I don't expect it to show for several days. I might check next monday or tuesday. Figure since I have credit its worth a look.

FYI I checked Ratchet Deadlocked tonight and it gets $16 before the bonus.

Wow, it is amazing to me there is enough stuff worth boxing up at all... My GR could fit the rest of their clearance games into a priority mail flat rate box, or possibly even a shoe box .

They cleared alot of space with this sale - there are empty spaces on the shelves now. It would be nice if I could count on them filling those spaces, but I doubt it.

Yeah the number besides the new releases I don't see many games get restock. Although both the GR's near me just restocked 2 copies of Castlevania: DOS, which was a surprise.

I also forgot to mention, when I went to my local Gamerush, they had "waiting lists" for the PS3 and the Wii. I was first on both lists, but I don't know if that really means much.

Bah, i knew i forgot something when i went their last. I'll probably pre-order a Wii, heres hoping that they last til whenever it comes out.

An off topic question. Anybody looking to sale a large lot of games?
Lot of 8 or more games? I can match (or close to) most game store trade prices, ( But I CAN NOT match the plus $5 gamerush prices.) I pay with Pay-Pal (Same as Cash), much better then the store credit most game stores give. Looking for games in Good to Mint condition, with Original box and book. Will consider any game from PS2-Gamecube-Xbox, (But please NO OLD SPORT GAMES, before 2005).
Please Email your list of games, if interested. [email protected]

Just seeing if anybody is interested, before I post new thread on CAG.
I’m not a store, just a little game guy, looking to buy/resale a few games.:)

Anyone know how much the X360 Harddrive trades-in for? I figure if it trades for $60, I could buy a lot of games by picking up several at Sears this weekend.
Anyone know how much the X360 Harddrive trades-in for? I figure if it trades for $60, I could buy a lot of games by picking up several at Sears this weekend.
That's what I was thinking. Even if it trades for like 40 that would be sweet.
That's what I was thinking. Even if it trades for like 40 that would be sweet.
If you get one, why not sell it to a cag who needs it for $35-40 then. I am sure there are a few who need a hard drive on here. There are always tons of game credit builders out there, which no one else is looking for.

Traded in a few of the usual suspects on Friday :

PS2 State of Emergency 2 : $12 + $5
PS2 Total Overdose : $9.50 + $5
PS2 Combat Elite WWII paratroopers : $12 + $5

Sorry I haven't been updating more lately... been swamped at work. Barely have enough time to scratch my ass, nevermind look up trade in prices, lol. Anyways, here's what I got last week and forgot to post.

PS2

Indy Car 2006 - $6.00 - 07/24/06

Well its official now all 4 stores within 10 minutes of my house no longer have the clearance games. I thought I knew the location it was all being shipped to, but I was wrong. Anyone else whose stores had merchandise left notice it all being moved?

Couple of trades today. Values listed are before bonus.

PS2 - Genji: Dawn of the Samurai - $9.50
PS2 - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - $7.00 (value change in wiki)
PS2 - Shadow of the Colossus - $19.00
PS2 - Total Overdose - $9.50
Xbx - Flatout - $19.00
Xbx - Half Life 2 - $6.00

PS2 - Duel Masters - $0.50 (no bonus)

Yeah, I tried to slip in the last one, but it didn't fly.

Not here, though the two stores I've checked didn't have much in the first place.

That said, I did find a copy of Metroid Prime 2 at the $5 price yesterday. Going from the reaction of the woman who rung me up, I don't think they knew it was on sale. :)

Traded in 3 yesterday. All are PS2

Total Overdose-$9.50
SOE 2-$12
Project Snowblind-$0.25

Snowblind was eligible for the bonus at the one yesterday. Also I found that a couple of Gamerushes have restocked their DS lites much to my surprise.

All should qualify for the bonus (should be 05 and newer sports games, but some people are getting rejected on 05 sports games). As for values, check the wiki, that's all the info we have.

Cheapest I found the game for was $14.99 at BB with a GGC. Wife loves the titans so I bought it when it came out. CC has it for $19.99 still.

An update on my "missing" credit. I was told today that the Loss Prevention person told my store that they can and should "adjust" any trade promos that are done incorrectly after the fact (and presumably without even telling the customer). So, all of you who are getting $5 bonus on GBA games beware, apparently, they can yank that credit back at any time. And I don't think it matters if you have the credit on value cards - they will just debit your account and you will have to cover it if you want to trade there again.

So, needless to say, I won't be trading at my GR any more. It's too much damn trouble for me to make sure they are following any and all restrictions. Fine, I can avoid GBA games. But what if a game doesn't sell for $7.99 used and they give me the bonus for it? The next week the manager could take it away because it only sells for $6.99 or something. I'm not going to double check every damn game I trade in to make sure it qualifies.

If I have any more trades to do, I will do them at the few regular BB's that are running the $5 deal. They don't seem to be as picky about this stuff as they aren't used to many trades. But most likely I will just stop trading all together for a while. And I will NEVER trade at my GR again unless they come up with an irresistable GR-only deal (like the preorder deal).

Someone on here said the manager would get in trouble for removing credit - seems not to be the case, as he went up the chain and had his action supported.

Having said all that, he did give me my credit back "just this once"..

Whether the legally can do that is a different story. I haven't had any problems with them, but at the same time the 2 main stores I trade at appreciate the business. The one store employees pick over my games all the time before putting them out since they are always mint copies. I don't think you will find many managers who want to piss the customer off unless the customer draws attention to themself.

Always put the money on a value card. It would take the manager 10 seconds to adjust your account, but even if they could the card it would take quite some time. Truthfully I don't think they track enough information on the value cards back to the account to make the change.

As for trading in I slowed down quite a bit now that the $5 deal has been going on for awhile. Mainly trading in group of 3's when I am done with games. Sometimes grab a third at a store to have a set. Though I have to agree with you as soon as the current deal is over I think I will be taking a break from GR for awhile.

The Extra $5 per game trade in deal may end today!! I was trading in today and the associate told me that the offer ended at midnight tonight. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up if this is true.

Thanks

My point was not that they would deduct it from the card - they would simply take it from your account (giving you a negative balance) and then ask you to pay next time you are there (if they don't already have your CC to charge). I'd imagine you could fight that, but who wants to deal with that crap...

I agree about the manager not wanting to piss people off. I really don't get it. I am a good customer there (for one I spend way more than I ever get in credit from there since I get most of my credit from other locations). When I first approached him about it he said he removed it because he would get in trouble with Loss Prevention for giving too much credit out. However, he is very paranoid (more so than most managers probably) about higher-ups reviewing his store records. He said, at first, he couldn't just give me the credit BACK because he might get in trouble - they'd ask him how he knows me, etc... Like they think he is running some credit laundering operation .

Anyway, I'm just going to avoid any future situation by not trading there unless, as I said, something irresistable comes up. High valued games I can bring to regular BB's. If a preorder deal or trade 3 get any used for $5 comes back, though, I guess I'd have to trade there again.

Edit - Ha, if the $5 deal really is over then I won't be trading at any Blockbuster locations for a while anyway! Would have been nice for them to have an official end date instead of just cutting it off though.

Traded today, decided to unload some things collecting dust while the bonus still exists. Prices before bonus.

DS
Sonic Rush - 10

Cube
SSBM - 10

XB
Mercenaries - 10 - no bonus given
MK Deception - 10 - would not give bonus, that would have made it more than they sell for
SC:CT - 6
Hulk:UD - 12
DefJam FFNY - 1

360
Top Spin 2 - 22
DW5 Empires - 22

Total of $138 given. Going to pay for DR/Saint's Row, I'm about to go make another trade in case the promo is ending, that'll pay for my Wii. Clerk was a dick about taking my Hulk, the EB I bought it from had slapped a pre-order insert in the case, so it said "For Promotional Use Only" on it. He said he'd take it "just this once", apparently it was so hard for him to take the 30seconds and look the game up.

I was going to ask if anyone saw Super Monkey Ball Adventure in their GR (mine doesn't have it). But after reading through the reviews it appears it is being universally panned as "difficult", "frustrating", and "tedious". Since I find the same faults (well, the first 2 anyway) with the original Monkey Ball games I'll definitely pass on this one .

Now I'm just waiting for Sonic Riders and Ice Age 2 to drop to $19.99. Why on earth those stay high but things like DQVIII drop is beyond me. Someone reported in another thread that DQVIII is even $19.99 at GR now. Amazing that they would be on top of a price drop like that.

I'm a bit worried that my GR hasn't gotten any of the recent GC games in - no Monster House, no Over The Hedge, no Cars - nothing in the last few months. Doesn't bode well for Super Paper Mario or Zelda. I'd pick up those movie license games for the kids for $19.99 in GR credit (thus $8 or so real money). Our family just saw Cars so I'd really like to get that one! Guess I'll have to pick it up at EB with my converted credit (when it drops - still $39.99 I think).

Traded in a set of 3 games at my local GR. The employee there is a member of CAG as well.

360 - Dynasty Warriors $22
360 - Fight Club $35
Cube- Mario Gold $1 (Thanks Gooznez!)

Also asked about Dead Rising...showing none ordered for sale or rent!
Boo

2nd trip, had it told to me by the manager at this GR that the +5 promo ends today, he volunteered the info. Prices pre-bonus.

DS
Yoshi - 10
Wario - 8
Mario Kart - 15

Cube
FZero - .75
DefJam Vendetta - .50
Wario World - 7

XB
Spiderman - 2 - no bonus given
Agent Under Fire - 2.50
NFL 2K5 - 1.25
GGX2#R - 1

360
Table Tennis - 22

Total $118. Not bad, $256 in credit from todays runs.

Good to know on Monkey Ball Adventure. I'll look into Banana Blitz on Wii, see if it's less obnoxious than the previous three.

I've actually decided I'll probably only be preordering DS and GBA games now (mostly at EB since I can't rely on GR, but I'll spend as much credit as I can there). The GC games I will probably just wait on till they're cheap. Too many GC games end up getting cheaper by the time I get them anyway than the equivalent cost in credit. :whistle2:( Though Zelda is the exception since I've had that on preorder for a year :D
