DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.
A regional manager and his minions for blockbuster in california. He and i were having a converstation while i was checking out what was left of one of the gamerush locations. They have not yet secured anything for the PS3 or Wii with any of there 3rd party distributors and corporate has told them that they dont make any money off the consoles so why does it matter. DSL sales should continue though since they do seem to have a steady stream of DS stuff now.

The games on friday is happening in september its already been happening for a while now but it will be exclusively on fridays sometime in september. Makes it easy for inventory purposes on each store and its cheaper from the distributors. Remember Gamerush doesnt get their games from the same sources as say EB and Gamestop.

As for the signage and deals the notice went out to most regional managers from corporate about these changes a few weeks ago. I wouldnt be surprised if the franchise owned Gamerush's go under quickly cause the support from Blockbuster to those stores stoped two months ago.
I really find it hard to believe that some regional manager knows the inner workings of BB/GR corporate. The other thing is that NO stores...not EB/GS/Target/BB/WalMart/TRU/etc have "secured" anything for either the Wii or PS3. Thats why no stores have even started to take pre-orders (except FYE, which for the 360 took over 40 pre-orders at my store and got all of 2 in, they just want interest free loans for consumers). If every other store was taking pre-orders, Sony came out and said the US is getting X PS3s, Nintendo gave us a release date, and GR was sitting there saying we have no plans for the PS3/Wii I would be worried. Why would all GR have phone call lists for both systems if corporate did not think tthey were going to sell them?

I would also be worried if BB came out and said business is down, but their most recent press releases have been positive, even though they are losing money right now.

So if GR gets Saints Row in Wednesday and then Mario Hoops the next Wednesday, should we just caulk this up to rumors?

I just want proof that GR is going under....but hey I know that GR will be leaving at some point, and I will burn all my credit on the Wii or PS3.
Yea, i found it hard to believe too, heres one that i sold last month - $152.50 before shipping.

But yea, i hope GR gets some Wii's in, i dont wanna be #7 on their call list for nothing. Though maybe we'll be lucky and actually be able to walk into a store and buy a Wii (highly doubt it'll happen for the PS3).
Good job on the Lite listing, but most likely that was a one-time fluke :D.

#7 on the call list? Hell, I'm first. I'll be really pissed if that becomes meaningless :bomb:.

In some places the Regional Managers will have to switch stores/distircts due to this. So yes, they WOULD know. There are no 'inner workings'. They have to prep up because people WILL lose there jobs and staff will be cut down. Why have 10 CSRs when only 8 is now needed?

I woudln't expect many changes until after Christmas anyway. While they will still get some games on Tues/Wed, most will be shipped on Fridays (like they use to do 2+ years ago).

I still find it funny how so many people are in denial about this. GR is in a total slump. It was a failed idea. Now they have to close stores, liquidate extra games, etc.

I still find it funny how so many people are in denial about this. GR is in a total slump. It was a failed idea. Now they have to close stores, liquidate extra games, etc.
Probably because the same doom and gloom posts about stores changing and shutting down have come up every two weeks for the last 6 months or so and my GRs have shown zero evidence of anything. Not to mention "Hey, we're liquidating stock so we can shut this shit down, let's hurry up and have another Trade 3 Get Extra $5 Per Game to help us unload... er... yeah..."

It's not as if I don't believe it will happen, I just see nothing of it now. Not to mention I don't believe Regional Managers, when District Managers don't even know what's going on (I assume they're different people because the regional office on the receipts seems to be a subset of a district - if they're the same, then this is even more so).

DMs operate both the BB and GR side in the district. Any BB that has a GR inside of it has the same DM. Meaning if you have a BB that has a GR on Block A and a BB that does not have a GR on block 2 then they have different DMs. By removing a GR from a BB they will have to take on either new stores, or move DMs around. Its alot more work then you think.

Consdering all GRs will be removing the Demo Kiosk in the next month or so this is just the beggining. Please keep in mind they are trying to dump NEW games, not the used ones. I am somewhat surprised the Trade 2 get a used game for $9.99 did not come back.

That's not true everywhere - I don't think my state's single GR has it's own DM . Really, by their lack of knowing what is going on at all, I think my store is kind of out there by itself, with no real GR management from above (it is probably just tacked onto a regular BB district).

Anyway, Botticus, we've been hearing about the demise of GR for way longer than 6 months, actually. I'd say well over a year. And I hope you are right gizmogc, that there will be no big changes till after Christmas. It is the whole "no new systems" line in the first post that bothered me the most. I guess we'll find out about that soon enough.

And if they want to dump new games, they better come up with some new promo or another clearance sale. While they freed up just enough space to handle the new system games (curiously enough), they still have a TON of new PS2 games, in particular. Right now I'd say they are evenly balanced between new and used.

Anyway, like I said before - big test this week to see if Star Fox Command, and I guess that Saint whatever game for the 360, come in. Plus, I also have Disgaea 2 preordered. Now I don't expect that to come in - but if it DOES, I'll take that as a positive sign. (ie, status quo if they get Star Fox in late - Thurs or Fri, and don't get Disgaea 2 - doesn't really tell us anything about the situation; +1 for GR if they get Star Fox and Disgaea 2 - and +2 if they have them both by Weds; -1 if they get neither).

Funny thing is I really don't care if GR does go under. Sure its just the same doom story and I will miss the deals/credit builders. However finding things I actually want to buy and dealing with the hassle factor sometimes is a pain. At this point I plan to just burn down the credit in Sept to $200. I always use the credit to rent movies and occasionally buy movies as well so if I was stuck with it I could use it in a year. Plus if they manage to hold on there is always another credit builder around the corner...

Since some people here (yourself included) have cried wolf several times in the past it's hard to take another claim of GR shutting down seriously. I'm sure it will happen eventually (this is Blockbuster we're talking about after all) but at this point I won't believe it until I see it.

Cry wolf? I never claimed 'GR IS SHUTTING DOWN ON THIS DAY'. I simply tell you what I have heard from several very reliable sources. Whatever. I won't comment anymore on anything regarding GR closing down anymore. Regardless if I hear it directly from the head of BB.

Personally, I'd like to continue to read all the rumors from reliable sources. I pretty much decided not to deal with GR after I burn off my credit, but any info is appreciated.

Well, I guess I'll change my Halo 3 pre-order also.....we'll see. I'm sure the worksers there may clue me in. I have close to $500 in credit and 3 pre-orders paid for:

Saint's Row
Halo 3
Gears of War

Also, is it possible that only CERTAIN GameRush stores are closing....I believe that was the last rumor. Oh well, I'm #1 on the PS3 list :)

All my DS lites have sold for between $130 and $145 with shipping on ebay. They're the best thing to pick up at GR if you want to liquidate.

I just called my GR and they have Saint's Row available. I did not preorder but will change the Gears of War preorder for it.

Thanks for the info, I'll pick up my copy in a couple of hours. Hopefully they got in Star Fox as well!

How exactly are you #1 on the PS3 list when we haven't yet started to take preorders?

That call list is pretty much worthless. When someone here posted that the 360 was available for preorder I went to my GR and was the first person there to sign up. The employees were clueless at the time about it's availability, so I reserved my copy before the first person in the list received a call.
Call list.
I think there were only NINE 360 pre-orders...so I'm not worried anyways. I basically want it to turn my credit into money.

Glad Saint's Row is there....I have lots of games to play now. Too many almost. Barely scrathed the surface on Dead Rising and Madden 07...sheesh.

My lame ass GameRush strikes again! I call asking if they received Saints Row. The manager replied "Yes", in which I ask him "Do you have it to buy, I preordered a copy", to which he replies "Only to rent. We recieved a shipment today, but I won't have the time to open it until tomorrow". WTF kind of shit is that!? Lazy bastard.
Anyone see Star Fox Command for the DS?
Checked three GRs in my area and it was a no show. They had no clue when they were getting it in. I'm in no hurry since I probably won't play it until I go out of town in a few weeks. Will update should it pop up anytime soon.

Saint's Row was in at the GR I had pre-ordered it from. Ironically, it was closed for a couple of hours due to a massive manhunt for two bank robbery suspects in the area!

Here are my trade in prices for today:

DS
Nintendogs (Dachsund) - $10
PotC: Dead Man's Chest - $18

Xbox
Ninja Gaiden Black - $9.50
Fable:TLC - $7

Yeah, I don't bother with the call lists. Usually I find out that preorders are being taken on here before I'd receive the phone call from the store.

Not sure what you are trying to say, but at my store they stuck pretty firmly with the call list on the Xbox 360 launch. I changed my mind at the last minute and wanted to preorder one. They said they had to hear back from 6 more people on the call list before they would let me preorder (and added me to the end of the call list). Whatever slots were left got taken and next time I was in they said there were no more. Turns out 3 or 4 were preorders by employees but they had to give them up when fewer than expected 360's came in at launch (they let the customers get them first).

Yeah, I suppose it depends on the store. Most of the stores around here don't even have call lists, but those that do don't really adhere to their purpose. Here's hoping that Gamerush even receives the PS3 and Wii despite the recent rumors.

Picked up my Saint's Row yesterday. Is anyone else's GameRush have a POOR selection of PSP games to rent. I think they had 20-30 total to rent. Nothing really that great either. I had FREE rentals to use and going on a trip....the only newer game they had was Madden 07 (which I rented)

It appears that they had Saint's Row overnighted, but nothing else. I was quoted Friday for Star Fox Command, and supposedly Enchanted Arms isn't even in the system. My copy of Saint's Row was still in the DHL envelope.

OK, went in to GR for the first time in a while:

THE GOOD

- Apparently the Trade 3 get an extra $5 bonus is STILL on at my store! I had assumed it ended a while back. They don't know when it will end, but the signs are still up. I really don't have anything to trade anyway - though I could look for some of the good EB games to trade. Damn, and I was at an EB tonight and didn't even think about it.

- They had Saint's Row in, and it looks like multiple copies for sale. Good news for future next-gen system games

- They have no knowledge of not getting the new systems in. As far as they know they are getting ready for them. Old system demo units are still there, GR signage still there :D

- Tales of the Abyss is in the system (to preorder)

THE BAD

- No Star Fox DS, no Disgaea 2, though both are apparently on order. I didn't see Xenosaga III either, but I didn't realize that was out yet until I went to EB and saw 15 copies there.

- The flip side of having no info about GR not getting the new systems - they still have no idea what is going to happen with the new systems on the positive side either!

- Tales of the Abyss is listed at $49.99, when it is $39.99 at EB, and $29.99 at Target and Walmart. (So I just put $5 down and hope they will get it at all and then drop the price to $29.99)

THE UGLY

- OK, so I finally got around to checking on my OLD preorders. WARNING - any other CAG's who preordered things like Zelda or FF XII back when the preorder deal started in Spring of 2005 better check on those. They lost 1 of my 2 Zelda preorders and my FF XII preorder. The way they checked was to print off all the store's preorders and then read mine off (strange, but OK). Then, when they checked my account history they could see the first Zelda in there (preordered before the Twilight Princess name) but for some reason it isn't showing up in the list of games they are getting for preorder. That needs to be cleared up before the game comes out! FF XII, on the other hand, is not in my history AT ALL!

The manager wasn't there so there was nothing they could do today. I know this will end up being a hassle as this manager is leery to grant credit as he thinks he will get in trouble. Plus they seemed pretty confident that preorders "don't expire". And yet, this is $100 of preorders they have lost so they better damn well do something! It looks like on the Zelda they might be able to deliver the early one and just reorder it under the new name. FF XII is a different matter though. If he doesn't want to believe me that I never switched or cancelled it (which I DIDN'T) then he'll have to review my entire account history for the last 17 months or so - won't that be fun .

That sucks about your preorders, good luck getting "Joe" to believe you:)

Good to hear about the trade in deal still going on...I don't think I will take advantage of it until we know for sure whether or not they will get the new systems.

I found my receipts - interestingly, both 'missing' preorders were from the very last week of March, 2005, and just 3 days apart from each other.

I have cancelled/switched/returned VERY FEW preorders, so they are welcome to look through my history. I think I have returned a total of 2 games I've preordered. I switched 4 or 5 for games that NEVER came in (but only after the release dates). And just recently, I switched Okami and Rogue Galaxy since GR had them overpriced (at $49.99). Besides a few games that got postponed indefinitely (GT4 mobile PSP, B&W Creatures DS), those are the only 2 I have changed prior to release, so there's no way I knowingly did anything with that FF XII preorder. I guess I'm glad I switched Okami because that probably would have gone missing too. But the funny thing is I just did that not too long ago. That makes me wonder if the preorders really are missing - maybe just the old dates are making them not show in their current preorder list. Perhaps if they simply "delivered" FF XII to me the credit would show up, then I could re-preorder it. I'll check on all that on Friday and let you know.

How did the other people with missing preorders get theirs resolved? It seems like we heard a few people saying theirs went missing but never heard the resolutions to those... There's no way no how I'm giving up easily on $100 of preorders :bomb:.

Wow, that sucks about the pre-orders. I still have two outstanding from back in the day. Gears of War and Halo 3 (which I may switch for NHL or NBA or something else 360).

My oldest preorder is Zelda from last fall. But I will likely still need to check on that.

I also need to cancel/switch a preorder from February that's been open forever. Hopefully that's still around. Unfortunately they're always busy as hell with not a manager in sight when I go there, so I don't want to bother with something as zany as cancelling a 6 month old preorder.

When I brought it up (tried to pick up the game with my receipt, but they said I didn't have a preorder or any copies left), they made a note on my account. They credited my account the value of the game sometime between visits. The next time I was in the store, I had the $49.99+tax sitting on my account.

Seems like it's more a guest recovery thing at the local level, though. I doubt there is a 'missing preorder' procedure in the GameRush handbook.

...Because, well, they'd have to actually have a handbook first. ;)
Cry wolf? I never claimed 'GR IS SHUTTING DOWN ON THIS DAY'. I simply tell you what I have heard from several very reliable sources.
The only people I have ever heard that from are people that work at EB and Gamestop. Nothing against them but I knew a manager at an EB and some of the stuff that the upper mamagement tells them is so far from teh truth it is funny.

How/why do you do these posts every so often alphabetically and in chunks of 20 or so? This might have been answered way back somewhere in this thread, if so I apologize.

Keep up the good work.

Jammer works at a Blockbuster and so he/she just goes into the system and writes down trade in prices whenever he/she can. We used to get chunks of the list every couple of days, but it looks like Jammer is either getting swampped with work or just not interested in doing it as much since we now only get chunks once a week or once every two weeks. Nonetheless, we'll take what we can get. Keep up the good work Jammer.

Cool, thanks for the answer.

Quick call to GR to check my account, and lo and behold, no FF12 or Zelda on my account. These have been preordered since the very first 29.99 deal. CSR thinks maybe that because of the whole 90 day history my preorders arent there anymore. Going in to have a chat with the asst manager later tonight to see what the deal is. Seriously, I have had both games on preorder for what feels like 2+ years (close enough) from the very beginning of GR history.

Great so this is a chain wide problem....

Well at least its not just my account. I will have to go in next Monday or Sunday and talk with them. And anyone else that has this problem, and figures out a way to solve it, please let us know.

Anyone see any signs of Starfox Command yet? No luck on the phone today. I'll be gone for the weekend, so hopefully they'll have it come Monday.

Though, they've had a tough time with every Nintendo release outside of NSMB. Be interesting to see what becomes of this one and how they handle the upcoming Squeenix DS releases.

I went in to check on my Zelda preorder and it was gone! It wasn't in any records and they said they couldn't do anything about it, not even the manager! And I don't that receipt anymore! Yeah, I'm pissed!

Both of mine were from the very last week of March, 2005 - check your receipts and see if that is the same time frame. I believe this was from the beginning of the second preorder deal that year (the other had run over Christmas till some time in Jauary). I'm positive it has NOTHING to do with 90 day history - that is BS. Don't let them get sidetracked into crap like that. I picked up many more preorders well after 90 days were up. And I have several other preorders that date back nearly a year and still show up (including my second Zelda preorder which was from last Nov).

At my store they are sure the preorders never expire so they claim that mine will be OK - yeah, right, so when I come to pick up FF XII are they going to give it to me? No, they won't - so I'm going to get it straightened out tomorrow with the manager hopefully. And like I said, I had no problem switching Okami a few weeks ago and it should have disappeared too (though it looks like I didn't preorder that until June 2005 so maybe it wouldn't have expired). Either that, or they really just dropped them recently. It is wierd timing though - more than a year, but not quite 1 1/2 years - like it is 15 or 16 months or something and then they lose them.

Hopefully I'll have it all sorted out tomorrow and will report what's up. I think the first thing I'll ask them to do is try delivering FF XII and see if that works - then just credit it and preorder it again. There is a small chance that it really is still there but they just can't see it on their system any more.

I had checked all my preorders last November - they even printed me a full (90 day) account history. It shows all my preorders at the very top, even those past 90 days. I'm looking at it now - at the very top are FF XII and Zelda. Right after that is Gran Turismo 4 mobile, which I preordered on April 3rd - just a few days after the others. That one I switched to Me and My Katamari just before that came out in March.

The other 2 preorders I had from that March/April 2005 timeframe were Kingdom Hearts 2 and Daxter. I had no problem picking those up when they came out (in March 2006). So some time between April and August they lost those older preorders.

That's BS - especially as it is certain this is a system-wide problem now. Hopefully some store manager will be responsible enough to get this issue up the chain of command (if there even is one any more ) to figure out a solution whcih will then be sent out to all the stores.

I do have my receipts, but it still doesn't really matter because they could always claim I cancelled or switched it at some later point. In my experience they are fairly adversarial with customers over this kind of stuff (like my recent $15 of missing credit and other CAG's experience with cancelling/returning items) and not too willing to be helpful, especially when it looks bad for them to their superiors (ie, granting of $100 in credit for "no reason").

I pre-ordered Zelda in March 2005 as well. It was at the Wixom, MI store. I checked on it every few months up until March of this year and it was still listed. I went to check on it in June and it somehow didn't exist anymore. After several phone tag messages, 3 trips to the store with my reciept, and some form I had to sign requesting my account history, they finally agreed to give me store credit or to transfer it to something else.

You have 1 year from the Day you pre-ordered until when it is wiped from their system. My GR called me a day before and let me know a game was not out yet and they would refund the entire amount the game would have sold for and let me pick something else out. I don't think GR thought the whole pre-order thing out very weel.

But Zelda has gotten pushed back at least a year from it's first date. Someone else can say if FFXII is in the same boat.

With that in mind, I better find my receipt and get the date on my Zelda preorder... that will be very near a year, if not over, by the time November comes around.
