Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

Good news at GR today - they actually had a stack of Lego Star Wars II behind the counter. THEY ACTUALLY GOT A GAME EARLY! Unbelievable. Unfortunately they had a big sign saying don't rent or sell until the 12th - but still, I was impressed.

I didn't bother preordering it from them because I figured they might not get it and if they did it wouldn't be until Friday and that was one game I wanted the first day.

Having said that, they did not get a single copy of the Gamecube one (edit - they had 2 GC copies to rent, but none to sell), so who knows if they would have had I preordered it. They did have a DS copy though! I have both preordered from EB but I might pick up the DS one early tomorrow from GR instead - I should have just prebought it to reserve, but I wasn't sure at the time.

To top it all off, there was a copy of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat w/bongos sitting on the GR counter! To those still asking about the 75% off clearance, it is definitely still on - got that for $13.75! They claimed that game had been sitting there the whole time, but I really doubt it :lol:.

I was so floored by seeing the Lego Star Wars II that I completely forgot about Mario Hoops. I didn't see anything else back there though - I would assume Friday on that :lol:.
 
Thanks io for clearing up my point about the Fantavision and Extermination prices. I knew they were $2.99 underneath all the previously played stickers! Good news about Lego Star Wars 2 games. I'll go check mine out Tuesday.
 
Anyone notice if they had the new hockey games today? I have 2 free game rental coupons and I think I will rent each before I choose. If not, I'll just wait until the weekend.
 
My BB is pretty good at getting games in on time or maybe a couple of days late. I've never lost a preorder But, they did fire the 3 GR employees so I have to deal with the "Knowledgeable" BB employees lol:)
 
I went back in to buy the Lego Star Wars DS. It appeared they had the following for sale: 2 Xbox 360 copies, 2 PS2 copies, 1 Xbox copy, 1 DS copy, and 0 GC copies. Pretty pathetic actually, especially in comparison to the EB I went to later. They had HUGE piles of each version and in the 1/2 hour that I was there (while my son played Pikmin 2 :D) they sold 3 GC copies, 1 PC copy, and 1 Xbox copy (take that PS2!).

My boys are playing it right now...

I also got the preorder bonus trading cards at EB (didn't even ask if GR had them). Botticus - heads up, my EB had the Dragon Quest keychain today. It is kind of a cheap thing, but better than nothing. They did not have the Okami art books yet.

As for GR, Trade 3 get extra $5 still going on. I really didn't have much to trade so I scrounged up 3 games as I hadn't traded there in over a month and thought I should do SOMETHING before it ends :lol:. I had to trade in my personal copy of Genji (I was going to play it eventually, oh well...) as it still gets $9.50 before bonus. Also got $6 for Ghost Recon 2, and $12 (!) for Ty 3 for PS2. I was going to take that to EB where they give what I thought was a generous $7 for it. But after bonus I got $17 at GR - not bad at all, especially considering I got it for 1 cent during the CC glitch several months back.

I also picked up a copy of Frantix for PSP for $6.99 to round out my EB trades (since I got rid of Ty 3). It only trades for $3 at EB, but with all the bonuses I got just over my GR purchase price, which is fine.

One game NOT to buy is Tecmo Arcade Classics for Xbox. They still have that at my GR for $7.50 (clearance price). Fortunately I called EB first - it sells for $4.99 there so, needless to say, has a $1 trade-in value.

Oh, and no Mario Hoops in at GR yet...

To answer the question below (didn't want to make yet another post :D), I am still waiting on mine, and was about to ask the same thing you did. The manager is supposed to talk to his DM tomorrow and get permission for the credit. I didn't mention it to him today because I don't want to pester him about it. But I will check later in the week. I hope to see a crapload of credit (well, $90 actually) on my account soon. Though I really don't *expect* it to be there without more intervention on my part :roll:. They did reorder the 2 games for me and grant me $10 of credit to cover that - so I've gotten a small part of it back at least (which is why I expect $90 more).

One more completely random thing I noticed today - Sonic Rush DS was $19.99 new. I think that's lower than most places isn't it? Too bad I used the $29.99 preorder deal (saving $5 off the retail) to buy this last year and have never opened it. GR wins that round :D. They also have Meteos and Trace Memory for that price (and have had them that way for a while - I know they are now dropping to $19.99 retail elsewhere).

I am going to one GR when Mario Hoops comes out, so hopefully I will find out what their solution is going to be. And another GR told me to call back today after 5pm. I will keep everyone posted on how that turns out...
 
I called the district office and the lady was clueless. She said she would tell some supervisor about it and then he would call me back. Should I expect a call?

Yeah, the regional managers are good about calling you back within a day or two. If you get any info from the regional manager, let me know what region you're in, so I can give my regional manager a reference when I bring up the issue. Should make things move a little faster once they realize it's a universal issue.
 
Just got World Poker Tour ($5 at GR) and World Series of Poker ($7.50), both for Xbox. Surprised that they restocked these clearance games. I'll take them for that price anyday though!
 
My GR got one black and one pink one. I'm on my way now to get the black one. The guy I know there said he'd hold it for me. Score!!
 
My missing preorder issue was resolved yesterday. They called me straight from the store, I'm assuming the district office called them. They called me and told me they'd give me a refund. I got 53.85 cash, which is funny because I payed 30 for it with that trade in deal. They also gave me two free game rentals for my troubles.

Someone beat me to it - but my store also got one of each. I really wanted to wait for a blue or green, but I put the black one on hold and will decide by tomorrow if I want to pick it up. On the one hand, if they really are going to get less hardware I'd buoy this in a second. On the other hand, the fact that they got these in points to them getting hardware :D.

One bad thing - no Mario Hoops, though they got the Harvest Moon and Mega Man games - WTF?

My missing preorders had not been resolved yet but they claim I will either get a credit or a gift card by Monday - the DM wasn't sure how the credit could be applied. Doesn't sound like I'll be getting any "free rentals for my trouble" though :lol:. I should get them for the trouble of having to get them to correct their damn mistake. It has taken a lot of visits and time in the store to get as far as I have!

At this point I'm still unsure about Mario Hoops, so I don't know if I want GR to get it in or not.

But I need to use my credit there on something, and who knows how many preorders they'll actually get in, meaning I could be freeing up a lot more credit.

I think I'll throw a call in to my DM to get the ball rolling on my own Zelda preorder, I've been putting that off for a while.

Also, anyone use FREE rental coupons lately? Usually when I use when one for a 360 game, it says "OWN IT FOR ONLY $52 MORE", which is an average $8 discount. However, I rented NHL 07 with one, and the receipt said, OWN IT FOR $59.99. I wonder if they fixed the glitch. Oh well...not a big deal, just curious.

That is exactly what they did about a week ago. They changed their system so that when you rent something if you try to keep it you pay the full price of the item instead of them taking the rental price off of the total. This way they keep your rental fee and still charge you the full price of whatever you rented.
 
Oh, thanks for the update...does not really make sense to keep the game from them, then...since technically it's USED and still costs FULL PRICE. Oh well.

I hope the bonus promo is still running next weekend, as I might come back from my trip with a huge haul of Kmart goodies (there's one Kmart I go to in Virginia that is a cluttered ugly mess - which means it is great for finding clearance games!). Luckily the EB promo runs through next Sunday - I had thought it ended Friday, so if I can't take them to GR I can take them there (and will probably do both).

Picked up the Black DS Lite tonight! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. For now I'm taking the ol' phatty on my trip :D.
 
has this turned into a blockbuster faq? Anywhere from ds colors, lost preorders, and tradein prices? Is this sale even in existance anymore? Why isn't this thread closed.

I read someone got dk bongos, and i called around but the blockbuster ppl kinda laughed at me and said those were long gone. kinda sad since i wanted them :cry:

Not sure what you are getting at - this thread has ALWAYS primarily been about trade-in deals (and thus associated trade-in prices and preorders obtained via trade-in deals). The 75% off clearance was the big thing for a month or two but it was never the focus of the GR thread (and all it's previous incarnations) and it has died down now anyway.

Trade-in prices will ALWAYS be important as they are what drives our ability to make the most out of GR deals. And things like how many DS Lites they get (if any at all) is very important to those of us who have built up credit using said trade-in values :D.

There is certainly no need to close the thread, but perhaps the title should get changed again. I would make it something about PS3/Wii preorder info pending (they seemed to think the Wii preorders were imminent at my store today).

And by the way, it was me who found the DK Jungle Beat w/bongos. I think they had it in the back and just put it out a few weeks ago - but without the clearance stickers. I didn't get it for a few days because I assumed it must not be part of the sale (since there were no bongos there at the start of the sale). On a hunch I checked the OP of this thread and found out it was part of the sale (which points to the continued usefulness of the sale list in the OP - another reason not to shut it down or even start a new thread just yet).
 
I really like my black DS. Especially breaking it out at work and having it noticed! Several of my co-workers got DS's so we are able to play mario kart and New SMB's wirelessly at work

Cool, maybe I'll keep the one I picked up and sell my old Teal DS. I'll have to check eBay to see if those still get a premium (or at least sell for more than Silver/Dark Blue ones).

Everyone keep an eye (or ear) out for Wii preorder info this week (I will be far away from any GR). I'm not saying it will happen (I have no idea) but at least there's a chance now given the pricing info. Also, hopefully GR will drop the MSRP's on the Wii games down to $49.99 (they were all $59.99 last time I checked).
 
Anyones GR still have the demo kiosks? Ive been to 5 or so GRs in the past 2 weeks and all have removed them. One GR has already started putting movies in the game section (Kids movies are not creeping over into what was the new GBA games)

My GR has not changed at all (yes, they are still there, though the Gamecube is broken :D)... Will be interesting to see if they get Wii and PS3 kiosks - obviously that would be a great sign. But I don't care as long as they get the actual systems!
 
Yeah, my GameRush still has the 4 screens for games. Although, they were Turned off....I think that may be to prevent people playing all day. They were going to turn them on for some kids that came in and asked for them to be turned on.

Maybe I'll check the Wii info this week, I have to return a game Tuesday.
 
All the Gamerushes I go to (about 20 different stores in my area) still have demo kiosks and keep them turned on. They don't tend to update the games in them very often though and most of them have demos of games they no longer have for sale new, like Donkey Kong Country 2. The most common demo kiosk is for GBA, but GC is a close second. Also plenty of Xbox and PS2, but I haven't seen any for DS or Xbox 360, which seems like a bad sign for seeing demos for PS3/Wii. I think Wii would be especially hard considering it wouldn't be playable if they locked down the controller like they usually do.
 
Mine still has the demo kiosks. They only seem to be on at night (when the store manager isnt there). Usually i only see the employees playing em, lol.
 
Wow...Im shocked. I wonder why all the GRs around me and them removed (about 10-12). Maybe they all are eventually going to be removed? I wouldn't count on a Wii and PS3 Kiosk seeing as how there was never a 360 one last year.

Same here for my two primary GRs. When I bring my kids, they just hop under and turn them on themselves. ;) The employees don't seem to care - I suspect it's just that none of them want to crawl under it in the morning if they don't have to.

The other GRs I visit less frequently tend to have the kiosks on all the time. And yes, none of them have a 360 kiosk.
 
Well I finally heard from the stores that the pre-orders disappeared from. The store that I had Bully (Xbox) pre-ordered, will only refund me 29.99 since I used the pre-order deal on it. I ask if I can instead just get the PS2 version and I figure that way I get the game, and not worry about the loss of credit. The guy tells me that this is the only way he will solve the problem. Which I think is major BS, and I am out $20 credit...

Then the store that I pre-ordered Okami, tells me that I can either pick up the game or get 29.99 in credit back. So I am just going to pick up the game, and eat the $10 in credit that was taken from me.

I am so glad that I am almost done with GR and this bullcrap. All I need from them is Gears of War, and either a PS3 or Wii, with all the extras, to burn my remaining credit (still at like 600....). I also called the DM to take, but at 2pm EST no one was in the office to answer the phone.

Hopefully I get something out of this....

I feel you on the not being allowed to get your 49.99 game for 29.99 (which they credited you back) now causing you to shell out 20 more bucks for a game you should already have been credited as PAID IN FULL.

Did OKAMI come down from 49.99 to 39.99? Thats another story, since you only paid 29.99 for it, and as long as it doesnt drop to less than 29.99, you werent cheated anything. Now if you PAID credit on top of the 29.99 deal and now they wont refund you what you actually PAID (credit/cash/etc) then you have a legitimate cause for calling corp and getting your money back.

I had the same problem when I used the 29.99 preorder to get a game that I thought was 49.99 but was actually 39.99, so when I wanted to switch, I only had to shell out another 10.00 to get a 49.99 game (at least they allowed the full 39.99 trade in rather than just 29.99 like your Bully instance). They need to get their act together since they are not on top of things. At least they allow game swapping, and looking at it from their point of view, you ordered game A, want to swap for game B, you should only get what you paid for game A, which in this case was 29.99 (or 39.99 depending on which preorder deal you got in on). Since you arent following through with your preorder why should they credit you back $20 more than you paid (now the argument can be made that the trade you did allows you an additional $20 credit which is what makes the 49.99 game now only cost you 29.99).

That sucks - I'm surprised my store is not doing the same to me ($29.99 credit) as they were pretty picky about the preorder deal "value" a year ago. Well, I don't know for sure actually, as I haven't gotten the credit yet :D. But when they were discussing it they mentioned crediting $49.99 for each game. I think they just forgot about the preorder deal. I don't know if they ever did anything with my history, and luckily I never left my receipts with them (which show the $20 discount), so we'll see...

I'm just glad I switched Okami a few months back when I noticed it was $39.99 everywhere else. Got $49.99 back which I will end up applying to a Wii game - so basically I will end up being able to use the preorder deal on 3 Wii games (the credit I get back from the other 2 will go to Wii games as well). Actually it is more like 5 as it sounds like Super Paper Mario will end up being released for the Wii, and I will probably cancel PSU.

(Edit - and yeah, you guys are right, I guess they have never had an Xbox360 kiosk, so I wouldn't expect PS3/Wii. I just didn't pay attention to the Xbox side so I thought maybe it had been upgraded. But my GR sounds like the others - still have DK Country 2 in the GBA :rofl:).
 
So some stores are only giving back $30? That's weird because I used that same preorder deal on Zelda and they gave me the whole 50 plus tax. Also they gave me 3 free rentals, not 2 as I said before. The thing is though, they didn't give me coupons, they just put 24.50 of credit in my account, so I can use it on anything. :rofl:
 
I'll check for a camera later. I don't really want one, but maybe I'll get it with my credit.

I guess I should switch my HALO 3 pre-order also, since they seem to have problems with keeping them for a year.
 
I'm not expecting much, but I'm going to check for cameras as well. Need to burn the credit somewhere, this and NBA 2K7 will finish me off.
