DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

I wouldn't trust the online locator, if that's what you're referring to. I didn't find any near me on there, so I called a local Blockbuster and asked if they were a GameRush. They said no, but told me where the closest stores were.

Found a store with multiple copies of Baten Kaitos, Metroid Prime 2, Xenosaga 2, and a few others. Since these games are $5 each (7.50 for BK) and seem to trade in slightly less to EB/GS (but has the + 10), these seem to be a way to move credit to EB/GR for no loss. Can someone point me to the "list" of games to move credit... my eyes have been failing me (maybe add the list to the first post or something).
 
Went to a regular blockbuster to trade for the extra $5, but the manager was completely clueless and said "No that deal was last summer" obviously referring to the trade 3 get a used game for $5 deal. I went ahead and traded anyway giving them a ford racing 2 and gran turismo I picked up at gamestop for $5. The trade value at the particular location game $10 apiece. Haha!
 
Meh nothing for GC or GBA at my BB except for Wolverine's Revenge. No good accessories either :( No Game Rush store within 50 miles of me either so I guess I miss out on this sale.

This has been probably been answered already but all these NEW games that are on clearance are the used copies of them reduced as well? Say the new version is $5 now is the used version still $14.99 or whatever?


Also MLB PSP (old one not The Show) is only $5. I came home and looked up a few prices and it trades for $10 at Estarland.... Killer 7 GC is $3.75 and trades for $7. So if you have other stuff to trade you might check that out. They had a few more PSP games on the cheap but I forgot the names already I wish i'd took a picture of the table now I can't remember any of it..... Don't forget to use those $.99 DVD rental coupons while your there. I used a free rental and a $.99 coupon and got another free rental ticket for next month when my receipt printed. :lol:

For those of you with no GR, and only BB. Are the new games already marked 75% off or will it come up when ringed out? I went to one BB around me and they had a smattering of new titles, and no mention of any sale or clearance. I'm guessing that it's probably a franchised BB like Shipwreck said but I was just curious if anyone at a BB had any good experiences with either the 75% or the 5$ extra trade.

I was told yesterday that the trade-in deal is scheduled to run through August 4th. The employee who gave me the information predicted that it would likely be discontinued prior to that date.

If anyone is looking for Red Ninjas to trade in, the Springdale, Ohio location had three last week on an endcap and the Fields Ertel location has some as well. Those are both Cincinnati locations.

Here in Jacksonville we only have Blockbusters, no GRs and when I went in yesterday to pick up a dvd I asked the person who was behind the counter, they didnt know anything about it but they went and asked the manager and she didnt know anything about a 75% off sale either.

Technically it makes sense for what they're doing (if true), clearing out space for Wii and PS3. There won't be much in the way of PS3 and Wii trade-ins initially (I don't see many used 360 games yet), so they don't need to worry about clearing space for those yet. If they have to work within the same space, they get rid of whatever new games they can so they can squeeze the new systems on the same shelves.

I'm sure there will be a used game clearance or deal of some sort as we get closer though.

I'm going to hit a BB (no GR nearby) at lunch soon. If they have them, I'm walking away with 4 ! Need to get some GC controllers so I have them when Wii comes out. If there are any, I'll post to confirm.

Yes, they have the same trade-in prices at normal Blockbusters. As always with Blockbuster, though, the trade-in prices will vary if it is a franchised store.


Another thing I forgot to mention was that one of my local Blockbusters got in some of those disc-only refurbished games that they sell for $9.99. I seem to remember other stores getting these in around the same time last time, so be on the lookout if you are interested in them.

All of these games at this particular location happened to be Gamecube titles. I picked up a Super Smash Bros. Melee for $10 and passed on a lot of other games that I already had (Paper Mario, Zelda: Wind Waker, Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Party 4 & 5, etc.). The employee was also nice enough to find a boxart for the game for me, so I just need to come across the manual at another Blockbuster and I'll have a complete SSBM for $10. :)

I haven't found a BB that knows about it yet, but it's still valid. Just have them ring it up.

That would be good. BB has a pathetic new game selection, at 3 BBs I've found 3 games total (2, 1, 0). They all have lots of used though.

I just went to one of the local Blockbusters here on break and picked up a Mortal Kombat controller and found one that wasnt on the list: (PS2) Karaoke Revolution Volume 3 (with Mic) for $13.75.
 
Does the xbox live 12 month kit from original xbox work for the 360? If so that is a sweet deal for another year of live.

Oh and on the cheaper new than used games, like ridge racer PSP, does anyone know the trade in value? Could I conceivably buy 3, trade them back in and make money?

sorry if I missed it, but can anyone tell me what cities in Texas have a Game Rush?

I called mutiple Blockbusters in Houston and surrounding areas, but came up with nothing.
 
Hmm, you can search Blockbuster and "Check My Stores" to check inventory but I'm not sure how accurate it is. It says Jade Empire and Freedom Fighters are carried in all three stores I've been to, but I doubt I missed them three times in that pathetic selection.
 
I don't know if it's been asked and answered, and I'm sure as hell not wading through 40 pages. But does anyone know if the $5 bonus applies to Blockbuster as well? I didn't see anything in the main post, just that the discount applies at BB.

Hey shipwreck, I posted a couple pages back about some new Xbox additions I saw -

Predator concrete jungle $10
Tecmo classic arcade - I'm guessing $7.50 as it was stickered 29.99
Van Helsing - Can't be more than $5, surely.

And I managed to get a copy of Y's for the PS2, I found a display case on the shelf and took it up to the counter to see if they had any in the drawer. Needless to say, it was a long, drawn-out experience :(

OK, to summarize (only the first part is in response to you sp00ge, the rest for all the other questions we keep getting repeated :D):

* The extra $5 bonus deal should be active at regular BB's, but YMMV on getting an employee that knows about it or how to do it. Franchisee BB's are probably not participating. I'm going to test my local BB today - wish me luck.

* YMMV on getting GR/BB to accept old sports games or cheap games in general. They are *supposed* to reject anything that sells for less than $7.99 used, but the computer won't stop them from bumping up any game UNLESS the bump makes it more than the used sale price. Some clerks will ignore the limitations, and others will make up new ones such as "the trade-in value must be $7.99 or more" (as opposed to used sale value).

* SOME NEW games are 75% off, and the list is in the OP! If you can find these at ANY GR and MOST BB's (again, except for Franchisee stores) they WILL ring up at the prices in the OP, regardless of the tagged price. MAT 3 for PS2 is not part of the sale (think it was mistagged at a store early on and made the list because of that).

* There is NO current deal on used games, and the used versions of the clearance games still cost their regular used prices (eg, Silent Hill 4 PS2 $5 new, $16.99 used :lol:).

* It sounds like the bonus deal might end Aug 4th, but GR/BB has a habit of pulling deals before they officially end, so if you want to trade stuff, do it now.

* The 75% off sale will run indefinitely though we have heard in the past that at some point the items will be "field destroyed". There will most lilkely, then, NOT be another price cut. So buy what you want NOW, as there is no point waiting any more.
