50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:

The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.




Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

The County Line Road GR had one copy of Saint's Row clearanced ($30 after discount). Seems to be the only place in town that has it stickered as part of the sale.
 
If anyone can get me Marvel, Lego Star Wars, or N3 then I'd pay you for it plus the cost of shipping of course. PM me if interested. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip on Scarface, odd that they'd clearance the PSP version but not the Xbox one (which is the game section they're supposedly trying to reduce/get rid of).
 
Picked up Singstar Rocks! for $25 yesterday! That hasn't even been out that long, so seeing it on the list already is surprising.

Anyone know what all those Rainbow Six games for Xbox go for now? I know RS: Lockdown and RS: Black Arrow are $5 for sure, but they also had RS3 and RS: Critical Hour not tagged for clearance.

Also saw several DS games that you'd think would be on clearance, but so few GRs have any DS games left at all, so not many have been confirmed at 50% off. I did get MegaMan ZX for $15, but that's a rare one that was correctly tagged.

Thanks.. I endup bought WTF (PSP) and Lemmings (PSP) for $21.XX after taxes. I also saw "RUB the Rabbit (DS) with sticker price $29.99 and Prince of Persia: Revelation (PSP) $29.99 ?? the price itn't look right !!!

Went to my local BB instead of my local GR and picked-up Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for PS2 @ $7.50. While I was there I bought some B2G1 used games. Doom 3 and Jade Empire @ $14.95 each for the Xbox and Metal Slug 4 & 5 for the PS2 for free.

Problem is, no more free games at Best Buy since April 1st. I'm assuming you bought these before then? Funny because I ignored all those games just assuming Blockbuster (or any other place) would only give $1 for them. They sure are wacky with their trade-in prices :lol:.
 
Does Gamerush observe universal price drops? What I am refering to is Dirge of Cerebus FFVII which is currently $29.99 (down from $49.99) at most major retailers. As it stands now, with the discount, this game is only $5 less than I can get it new.
 
I bit on a $15 copy of Rockstar Tennis...hopefully the multiplayer pans out to be as fun as the first games have been. I can totally see my fingers hurting after a few hours of playing though with how easy it is to smash your fingers on the face buttons when hitting the ball back.
 
After going to my local Gamerush and finding absolutely nothing, I decided to visit another location on my way home from school today. Ended up with some pretty good deals:

- Prey CE ($15)
- N3 ($15)
- Lemmings ($10)
- Justice League Heroes ($10)
- Wild Arms 4 ($10)
- Prince of Persia: Warrior Within ($5)

It was funny the when the clerk was ringing up my games, everything was just business until he hit total and he freaked out when he saw all the prices going down. Haha! Apparently they didn't even know the games were 50% off. Once I saw that the games were for sure on sale, I went back and nabbed a few more. The guy was giving me a hard time (in a joking way) about taking all the good games he wanted.

What can I say? You snooze you lose!
 
Can anyone explain how the pricing for "Keep It For X.XX price" works? I was thinking about renting Metal Gear Solid PO (I have Total Access so the rental would be free), and just keeping it. I just want to know whether or not they will charge me the clearance price or the full MSRP for it. Thanks.

Thanks.[/quote]They charge the used price of the game (which in this case is likely higher than the clearance price), unless its a newer game, however they classify that, in which case they charge the new price. And I doubt that price would drop because you're buying a used copy.

Well they had Metal Gear: PO used at my GameRush for $35 dollars...so I wouldn't pay that if they charged you the used price. You could get it brand new for that price at Best Buy using the $5 coupon anyways...so I'd just stick with renting it for now..
 
I think someone kept RS:Vegas at my Blockbuster....since it seems to have been removed from the rental shelf. A bit upsetting that they don't replace it.

Funny thing though, while I was there, some retarded punk thug had to ask the Gamerush manager what half of $24 would be for a sale game. Dude must have been at least in his 20's. Wasn't emberrased or discrete about it either. He was like "Yo! What's half of $24, man?!?" waving the game around in the air. :roll:

Does anyones GR have Marvel: Ultimate Alliance still? I've scoured Cincinnati area GR's but to no avail. I'd be willing to cover the cost of the game+shipping of course.

Gamecrazy gives $7.50 for it (after MVP) so that's a relief. They also give $5.50 for Simpson's. Only Zatch Bell was lower ($7.70). Glad I still have a GC to go to (several actually!).

Yes I seem to remember buying it for $9.99 and trading it in for $33ish ($27 trade in price plus 20% extra when you trade in 3 games.) Ahh, good times. Think we've seen the last of that kind of thing.
So, anyone heard anything new about the sale "ending" on April 22 (as reported by Sgt. Killjoy). I'm still hoping for 75%, still some juicy titles sitting there in the glass cases round here.

GOOD NEWS: THERE WERE MORE GAMES ADDED - THE DROP LIST APPARENTLY SHOWED UP ON SUNDAY

BAD NEWS: I didn't get to see the list, and I didnt have my old list with me so I couldn't figure out the new adds :whistle2:(

GOOD NEWS: The one title I did notice as new was Untold Legends for PLAYSTATION 3 ($25). I did not see any other PS3 games near it and do not know if there are any others on clearance.

BAD NEWS: It didn't ring up right, so our old friend the "glitch" is back.

IF YOU HAVE A DUMB QUESTION ABOUT THIS, READ HERE: The new games are not ringing up correctly (again). They are PRICED CORRECTLY (Untold is now $49.98). IT IS MARKED IN THE COMPUTER CORRECTLY AS BEING ON CLEARANCE. The glitch is applying the coupon.

Geez... what does GR even have left to clearance at this point? I'm hoping they will throw some Wii games on there, but did they even get games like SSX Blur and Sonic? They are probably too new for them to add, regardless.

I really can't think of anything Gamerush had left that I wanted them to clearance, after the last two drops.

I went to check this out at my local GR during Lunch. The manager there (who is always on top of things) says that there is no "third wave" and that while some games went down in price there are no more games added to the 50% off promotion.

I asked about the Untold Legends PS3, he confirmed it did go down in price, and it may be listed as clearance, but according to him that does not mean 50% off.

So who knows at this point. I'm waiting for some confirmation before I start making the rounds to all the stores.
 
I saw a PS3 game or two on the clearance rack at a Gamerush store yesterday. No idea if it was supposed to be there or not...and I had no interest in it since I don't own a PS3.

I found Singstar at the same Gamerush but unfortunately it was Singstar Pop, which isn't on clearance. I didn't even realize there were 2 Singstar games out now. Singstar Rocks is the one on clearance, I guess.

How much did you get Dirge of Cerberus for? It's $25 at my Gamerush and I considered getting it (they had a ton of copies) but I don't know if it's worth that price...

I agree. Dirge of Cerberus sells for $29 new at most stores. A paltry $5 discount at Gamerush doesn't interest me that much.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but apparently Gamerush isn't observing universal price drops on games.
