Just looking for trade-in prices? Well, check out what's been reported:
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:
Hey guys, just a head's up. Went to my local Gamerush today (03/24/07), noticed they had put a ton of the NEW games they had for sale on a side counter. The manager told me they were being added to the 50% off sale. These were new additions to the previous sale. He let me look at the list he had for his store of the pulled games. PS2, XBOX, PSP, Gamecube, and 360 were on the list, the majority of the list (about half) was original XBOX, with about 20% PS2, rest a mix of 360, Gamecube, and PSP.

Can't recite the list verbatim, but you may want to check with your local game rush, I believe the actual list may vary from store to store, based what they have in inventory.

If you want, post what titles you are interested in and I will do my best to recall if it was included on the list, but I would suggest going to you local Gamerush and scout it out today!!
The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?
A: Probably.

(All prices are after the 50% off discount.)
As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

Un-freaking-believeable... Well, after seeing what some of you guys hauled in I should have done better, but, man, I felt really guilty passing this off (though, of course, the coupon code works so I shouldn't).

I went to my local Blockbuster (no GR any more). They have a decent selection of used games, though most are former rental copies. I had been eyeing their Bioshock stock since I knew they'd be in pretty good condition (they had about 8 rental copies and moved 6 of them to used game sales just a few weeks back). I was hoping for a 25% off used game sale.

So, first thing I grabbed was that. My rule was to stick to stuff either I or the kids wanted. It was *really* *really* *really* tempting to pick up more copies of Bioshock to flip (or, more likely, trade here for other goodies), but I held back. I also picked up:

Lost Planet
3 licensed kids games...

So, nothing was expensive except for Bioshock. I would have been glad to get JUST Bioshock for $25, so the rest was gravy... Total cost was $150 with $125 taken off - DEAL OF THE YEAR by far, and from a most unexpected source. Considering I traded in a copy of Ice Ace 2 for $26 just the other day, that makes it even better. In fact, as a backup plan I was going to buy that since I knew it was mint ;).

Of course, after leaving I wished I had snagged some other stuff. They had a Gears of War I had forgotten about because it was in the special "Shooters" display which they hadn't taken down (though the signs were gone). But for all I know it was a brutal rental copy. My Bioshock is near mint, and the rest are fair... All have original inserts and 4 have the manuals though, so that's nice. It would have never occurred to me with this blatant of a coupon abuse to dare ask for their rental copy manuals - kudos to those with the huevos to do that . I was all about getting the games rung up and getting out of there as fast as I could.

They did NOT have Oblivion which would have been my first choice. No Halo 3 either which I might have given a shot for $5 ;). Also would have snagged Eternal Sonata in a heartbeat. There was lots of other stuff I passed up too in favor of games for my son. Also, I barely looked at the Wii section but it seemed to consist mostly of Sonic and the Secret Rings, which I already have (they had too many rental copies of this originally for some reason).

I may just have to make a lunch trip to a different store tomorrow and hope it is still in effect. I know their stock is much more pathetic though. But anyway, still DEAL OF THE YEAR for me .

EDIT - Please note all the above was written when I thought this was a 100% legit coupon, with the only YMMV being the "no copies" clause. Now I'm not so sure. If it isn't, then clearly it is NOT the deal of the year...

what the fuck why didnt i see this thread earlier in the day ><
am so gonna have to try this tomorrow
btw if this doesnt work for me anyone wanna pick me up blue dragon and i'll trade u stranglehold?

For those of you in SoCal SanBernadino area. GameRush in LaVerne had no problem with it, even mentioned that it was a great deal. They have nothing really left, I had to grasp straws.

GameRush in Covina said no go. I want to hit up Rancho tomorrow if it is still live.
Glad it worked....I'm going to go hit up 2 local GR's and see what happens in a few minutes.
Well...turns out Gamerush closes at 11pm...I'll try this out tomorrow.

Thank god for living on the West Coast! I swore this deal wasn't real, then it worked, and I'm almost positive it will die tomorrow, and I can recycle all the games back at the GameRush that still does the "$5 extra on 3 or more" deal. Before you call hoarding, realize these games will be back on the shelves by 3pm tomorrow, and if the coupon still works, they're all up for grabs to anyone else by CSUN. It's like I babysat the games for one night and was paid $25 each for doing so.

CAG DEAL OF THE YEAR SO FAR BY FAR.

You know, most deals I can say "meh, too much effort" and not worry about, but my GOD! I'm gonna print a ton and head out to every single possible store in the morning and in the evening tomorrow. This is simply amazing.

Holy crap, djkunai... And I felt guilty for my one copy of Bioshock, Lost Planet, and 3 licensed kids games .

I see that you got them to do it as "nonmember" too - congrats. For those looking to flip these back, though, just be careful. Even if I had a GR around I wouldn't even consider it. Flip them to EB, GC - I just wouldn't trade them right back to GR. A little history lesson: a few years back GR had a trade 3 get any used game for $5. That was very similar to this deal, except you had to trade the 3 games for every 1 you bought. People were using that to get $50 games and then flipping them back as part of their next trade (at a different store or whatever). We had large numbers of people banned and the promo was pulled early as a result. Though this is not likely to last long ANYWAY, it will be especially bad if people turn right around and trade these in tomorrow. AT LEAST give it a week ;). I wouldn't recommend it at all (you are getting a great deal - don't screw them over even more), but whatever...

Also, I just realized I passed up an NCAA '08 which I have an inkling to play right now. I should have grabbed that or NBA Street Homecourt over one of the kids games. I was just trying to be too "good" and balance out my Bioshock purchase with crap they had multiples of. Stupid me...

Anyway, I was headed out this evening with the kids. THANKFULLY, I checked CAG just one last time before I did so and saw the post by Linkin. Many many many thanks for that! I could very well have missed it. Of course, if it is still good tomorrow I would have wished I was more calm about it and a bit more "strategic" with my purchases and done it in the AM. I figured it was a race against the clock tonight though .

Pro tip - ALWAYS scan CAG before any significant outing!

One thing about CAG is that you people can get someone really pumped to get great deals...I have 6 hours to sleep and I'm too excited to go to bed!

Oh, just yesterday it became popular, that's good. It should be able to work for a little while longer, that being a day or two longer.

What's the procedure for this? You just get 5 used games, show them the coupon and bam? Wow, that's freaking gold. Deal of The Year.

This deal, sadly did not work for me. I strolled up to the counter, games in hand with the coupon pressed on top. The clerk took the coupon and looked at it for a good long while. She then called for, I assume, her manager. She asked if he had ever seen it before and the guy simply shrugged his shoulders and said "Nope." After looking down the coupon some more she told me that it was fraudulent and that it wouldn't work. I asked her to just try scanning it. She wouldn't. I asked why she thought it was a fraud and she said "People pass these things around the internet all the time. They have no affiliation with Blockbuster."

No games for me.
People were using that to get $50 games and then flipping them back as part of their next trade (at a different store or whatever). We had large numbers of people banned.
I'm example "A".
did a mod seriously just ask if this was legit? the thread in question gave all the answers

"A flyer from a Kansas news paper. It was on the back of a flyer with Taco Bell coupons. (for the record, I did not buy the paper myself...I can't tell you exactly which paper it was in...but somebody gave me the flyer with the coupons.)"

Wow funny how it was on the back of a flier, but was in digital form? ITS ALMOST LIKE A PERSON WHO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BLOCKBUSTER MADE THIS IN PHOTOSHOP!!!???

Funny how that calhoun $$$$$$ edited his fucking .psd file once they figured out his stupid fucking spelling error, ISNT IT????

YEP THIS COUPONS TOTALLY LEGIT.

You guys are some seriously dense fuckers.
Just curious, where's the original? I'd assume by now that someone from Kansas has scanned an original to prove that it's fake, right?

The original is on the back of a taco bell flier, there is no original digital coupon, like i said above the calhoun moron on the dvd talk forums is a thieving piece of shit who CREATED A COMPLETELY PHOTOSHOPPED COUPON

This is not merely an ALTERATION, this is a COMPLETELY fabricated coupon.

basically anyone who said "well the blockbusters accepted it so who cares!!!", might as well start using counterfeit $20s because "well the store accepted it who cares!".

Gotchaforce, Chill the fuck out.

That sucks, try it at any other stores if you have them, I know I will tomorrow, and good luck to everyone else.

You know, I can scan my hand, and that makes a digital copy of it. He could've scanned a coupon from the flier so that more people can see it.

Playing devils advocate here, but c'mon, are you that naive to not see how tangible can be converted to digital?

It is one thing to print up whatever kind of coupon you can think of, but how does one forge a bar code that discounts 5 used games to $5 each? You would think that needs to be programmed into their central system. Unless Blockbuster's system is that exploitable - that seems unlikely, but you never know. We've never seen anything like this before, so it would seem unlikely. If that is the case, Blockbuster needs to do some serious housecleaning in their IT department ;).

Are you retarded possibly? Have you ever used photoshop? I have been paid to create websites/graphics and have used photoshop for hundreds if not thousands of hours. Its clearly not a scan, it is A SOLID 255,255,255 WHITE BACKGROUND, the drop shadows underneath the blockbuster and blue text are the DEFAULT drop shadows and REEK of extremely amateur photoshopping. However these all do not matter, the fact that once someone pointed out that period was spelled wrong the coupon MAGICALLY CHANGED is 100% PROOF THAT HE IS USING A .PSD (photoshop file)

Most of my anger is being transferred from the thread that was locked, because every page was filled with people going "this is not altered, it is only meant to work in kansas sure, but it works everywhere, clearly its okay to stil use it." This is again though, not an altered coupon, it is COMPLETELY fabricated, he took the barcode from a coupon that was only available in paper form, and then attached it to a completely photoshopped file.

Well then Mr Photoshop-Fancypants, how did he get the barcode to transfer to his PSD with this magical 255,255,255,255 white background (that you claim is only available to a purely created document). If a bar is just a little off it won't work, yet that coupon has that magic white background, and scans into machines just dandy.

Gotchaforce, I do have to admit, the characteristics of the image did not seem to me to be a scan. Of course, why the hell didn't he do it in higher resolution if he was faking it (amateur, as you say)? I've dealt with a lot of scans on CAG to make them more presentable (cleaning them up, enhancing contrast, etc - NEVER altering text). HOWEVER, I reiterate what I said before - sure, the text could be changed up, but what about the bar code that works AUTOMATICALLY in the system? You can't just make that up, unless it was an inside job...

I have actually seen something similer to this before. It was at gamecrazy though. During their buy 2 E rated games get 1 free the coupon actually worked with any rated games. It was pretty much up the worker to enforce the E rated only policy.

Apples and oranges though. The whole deal seems too good to be true but I am not about to scream fraud just because the deal is too good. Give me proof!

By the way, using countless cusswords and derogatory statements is hardly giving the people screaming "FRAUD!" any credibility.

Yes he scanned the barcode in from the physical flier, he then used levels/magic wand in some shape or form to make it a selection and filled it in with solid black. If it was a scan it would be varying degrees of RGB 0,0,0 (0,1,2, etc), however its clearly not a scan, its a completely digitally created file.

THat shit would have to be PERFECT to scan into machines across the country. So either he's an amateur like you say, or he knows what the fuck he's doing....like you say. Which is it?

Youre on a website called cheapassgamer if you didnt notice, so im not sure how cuss words (ew, yucky) somehow validate or invalidate anything.

Im not sure how much more proof i can give, the coupon posted at CAG by linkinprime was the original .jpg used by calhoun. This original jpeg had period was spelled as preoid, after this was pointed out on dvdtalk THE COUPON MAGICALLY CHANGED SPELLING (and if youre retarded by magically i mean calhoun edited his original post and replaced the .jpg that he originally had up).

I would have very little evidence if calhoun wasnt a stupid shithead and replaced it with a correct spelling, because coupons have typos a lot, but the fact that he fixed the typo himself, means he has a .psd sitting in front of him, and has edited the text.

Barcodes are very simple, they have been around for decades dude. Its a 0-1 digital signal, the lines dont have to be anywhere near exact. If they had to be exact why can people on this website scan a coupon, print it out on their printer, in DIFFERENT sizes than the original coupon, and it still works? Its because even with the coupon scaled up or down, its still a digital "signal".

Yes, bar codes are easy to make, yes the text can be made up/altered easily...

BUT, the question is, what was the original bar code supposed to be for, then? Did the original coupon have more restrictions on it? Even so, it STILL works with these games. Any decent programmer would not let it work on crap it is not supposed to work on, no matter what the fine print says.

You do make a good point. I don't think we should discredit that theory as of yet. Magic could have played a role after all....

Seriously though. You make a good point. The sudden changing of the spelling error is pretty damn odd. Because the coupon code actually works I would like to think that it's just a cleaned up version of the original. Special terms in the fine print or not, blockbuster sure screwed up with the code.

He said he got it off the flier, the original coupon barcode was meant for a 5 games for $25 deal, this deal is amazingly good, but there MUST have been "no copies allowed" and others have stated this is a KANSAS coupon only, so that was probably on the coupon too.

You might say, okay well we dont know if the original coupon had ANY restrictions on it, so its still legit.

Okay but then why didnt calhoun just scan the original in and why did he even MAKE a digital copy? The fact that he made a digital copy is proof that he edited out text, because otherwise there is no need.

Again, playing devil's advocate, but lack of evidence for one point in no way proves the converse. All it does is cast the point in doubt. You bring up good points, but neither side has 100% undisputable proof. You say the coupon is fake. Others say it works (which it does). In the end, it boils down to Blockbuster fucking up with that barcode.

Blockbuster did not screw up on the code, im sure it was an amazing deal but just because the code works nationally doesnt mean people get to use it outside of kansas. Blockbuster no doubt has a national headquarters that just sends out updates to their systems, maybe this system is incapable of just sending it to one state, unless we have blockbusters system administrator telling us "oh yes it is able to send it just to a single state", then blockbuster has not screwed up. They dont deserve to get the rug pulled out from underneath them and lose probaby thousands of dollars in profit today because they have a code that works nationally, but was only given to people in kansas, and then spread where people could use it nationally.

got saint's row, lost planet, CoD3, marvel: UA, and shadowrun. no good games at the one i went to.

i had time to go to both the ones near me but i didn't feel it was urgent enough. then i saw everyone making a hullabaloo so i hightailed it to the one closest to me. i'll try the one tomorrow but i think the good stuff/coupon won't be usable if there are djkunais around there.

I'd consider that a pretty big fuck up on their part. You don't offer a deal like that and not make sure it works EXACTLY how you want.

As one who works in the legal system, if Blockbuster finds out where this fake coupon originated, they could easily take legal action against the poster and website. And we thought Speedy had troubles...

What you (Gotchaforce) are saying now is reasonable and I agree that we need to be cautious. If I still had a GR and tons of credit I might be a little worried. The coupon does say "no copies" though and the clerks at my store poured over it and didn't have a problem with that. If it said "Kansas only" and that was edited out, well, then, that's not good...

Of course, the other thing they could nab people for is using it more than once on a single membership account. It does say that in the fine print as well...

It IS a pretty big fuck up that they didnt restrict it to a certain area.

However this isnt really the problem, the problem is this digital coupon should not exist. If a coupon like this was given out in kansas taco bells and it didnt say anything about only being used in kansas, and then people scanned it online and proceeded to use it on a NATIONAL level, then i wouldnt give a shit. Blockbuster would have taken the fall because even though it was given out in kansas, there were no stated restrictions.

I honestly cant stop immoral people from using this coupon, all im trying to do is prove wrong all the people who say "umm yeah this coupon is legit! it scans doesnt it?!?!"

Until I see a coupon with the words "For use in Kansas only" or some such, I'm gonna continue in my assumption that this coupon hangs onto strings of validity.

Though to people abusing the hell out of this (31 360 games alone? C'mon): You are going to get some people crazy fucked over. It's a good deal. There's no need to rape it for every cent.

So do you think blockbuster randomly has a code in their system that marks all games down to cost 25$ and someone is exploiting that?

If its in the system it is their to be used.

Simply the fact alone that the original poster on DVD Talk CHANGED the text of the coupon once someone caught his misspelling says this coupon is forged and you really can't take any of the text as official.

im sure there's bar codes in their systems for lots of things. Lets say an employee got some ridiculous barcode that just makes a game 90% off, an employee discount or something. If they acquired it, fabricated a coupon with the scanned barcode, and put it online, then by your standards its fair game!

If you dont see the problem with this then why are you even bothering with the coupon, just steal the games by stuffing it in your sweatshirt.

I was just pointing out that Gotchaforce said it might have originally said "no copies" when it does, in fact, still say that. At this point I don't know what to think about it.

So ppl are using this at gamerush huh?

I was wondering how those games were coming in there original cases. The blockbuster near me has all the games in generic cases and I dont remember them having wii,ps3,and 360 games but heres to hoping they do.....

Yes i didnt read the coupon fully and said that didnt exist on the coupon when it did.

Really though thats just more evidence that its a fake, because no copies can only exist on a scanned coupon (because you cant just print out a ton of them), and its clearly not a scanned.

Don't be fooled by the generic cases. At 3 of the stores I hit they just had generic cases out on the shelves and the actual cases and manuals in the drawers. Why they just didn't put the original cases on display escapes me but don't be afraid to ask if they have the original covers and manuals in the back or behind the counter. You can also poach manuals from rentals if you ask nicely
