Just looking for trade-in prices? Well, check out what's been reported:
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:
Hey guys, just a head's up. Went to my local Gamerush today (03/24/07), noticed they had put a ton of the NEW games they had for sale on a side counter. The manager told me they were being added to the 50% off sale. These were new additions to the previous sale. He let me look at the list he had for his store of the pulled games. PS2, XBOX, PSP, Gamecube, and 360 were on the list, the majority of the list (about half) was original XBOX, with about 20% PS2, rest a mix of 360, Gamecube, and PSP.

Can't recite the list verbatim, but you may want to check with your local game rush, I believe the actual list may vary from store to store, based what they have in inventory.

If you want, post what titles you are interested in and I will do my best to recall if it was included on the list, but I would suggest going to you local Gamerush and scout it out today!!
The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

Q: If I ask something that is clearly laid out here in the OP, will shipwreck make fun of me?
A: Probably.

(All prices are after the 50% off discount.)
As far as I was told, it is on new games only, and is 50% off the marked price. The list was also laying on the back counter and I perused it. The list of games are for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, and Xbox360. There are no DS games.

I wrote down the Xbox360 games since I thought those would be the most interesting. There were not many PSP games and the ones on the list were not very exciting. So without further ado, the Entire Xbox360 50% Off GameRush Listing:

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Trade-In Price Wiki
well....who the hell buys games from blockbuster unless they are getting a deal in the first place?
I do. My local BB's tend to have a huge selection, especially of rare PS2 games for some reason. Consequently, I get a lot of BB gift cards as gifts.
To make you feel better, before I used it I went into the store and asked the manager if it would work. He called corporate and asked, and they said yes. He reiterated "he's buying 5 X-Box 360 that normally cost $250 and he's paying $25- are you absolutely SURE it's okay to process the transaction." The guy on the phone ("Anthony") said yes, and the manager (though a little iffy) processed it with no problem.
I guess that we just found out who is going to fired from all of this, Mr. Anthony. Hope that you enjoyed working for BlockBuster. See ya later, big boy.

Worst luck ever, SERIOUSLY

I go in, pick out a great selection of titles, go up to the counter and the girl reads the entire coupon and is like "Wow, great coupon! Amazing deal." and she starts ringing up the games and then she turns to her manager and says "Hey, have you seen this coupon before? It's a really good deal" and the manager reads it... ahg... its the god damn super manager... she reads the entire coupon, staggers over the 'participating blockbuster' part, saying they may not be one, asks where I got it, I just tell her e-mail. She calls up like all the blockbusters in the area and corporate and ends up faxing the coupon off somewhere and told me shed call me later if anyone says that they accept it..

I guess thats what I get for trying this deal >_
well....who the hell buys games from blockbuster unless they are getting a deal in the first place?
Only Idiot ^__^ If BB want to "increase rental prices or used games" so what?

It worked for me ! The lady at the counter even knew about the coupon and gladly accepted it.

360:
Madden 08
Transformers
Bioshock
THP8
Xbox:
Battlefield 2

If this screws over corporate, I really don't have a problem with that.

If it screws over individual stores, I may contemplate taking the games back. The guy who processed my transaction was a manager, and mentioned that he didn't care, because corporate reimburses them for coupons. So, what if this isn't legit and corporate doesn't refund them? This is the scenario that I feel bad about.

Whatever. I've said my piece, which comes from the standpoint of an individual who has owned/managed an independent games store as well as worked the corporate side of a large corporation for some time and knows how damaging something like this can be to an internal economy.
The people who share my opinion will still agree, and the people who think I'm a douche will still think I'm a douche, so that's that. The beauty of forums.

seriously...stop being vaginas...if they accept it fine, if not, try somewhere else....having the ok from a manager up front DOES NOT make it ok...thats like having a cop say I can speed on the freeway....doesnt work like that....luckily most retailers really dont give a shit about coupons..if they accept it, fine..if not oh well

also...have a few people use a really good coupon at one store isnt going to close it down.....seriously....i think some of you were born yesterday

Just got back from my local BB.

When I first looked around, I didn't see much outside of :ps2: Guitar Hero 80's, a few decent :psp: games, and :gc: Mario Party 5-6? and Mario Baseball with the rest being last gen junk.

I looked around somemore and found the :360:, :ps3:, and :wii: games, they were locked in a glass case with new DVDs.

They had crap for that triple outside of Madden 08, and crap for the wii.

But the :360: selection was pretty good.

I picked up:

:360:
Earth Defense Force
Lost Planet
Gears of War(!)
John Woo Stranglehold(!!!!!!)

and :ps2: GH2 80's

I almost got DOAX2, but decided to get GH2 instead.

Between this, TRUs B2G1, and other clearances, I have almost a dozen 360 games...but no 360 yet. Once I see the holiday Pro bundle, I;m gonna pick it up.

This is the Deal of the Year for me, even with EDF and LP!!!

Are all your posts this utterly worthless?

This is a rhetorical question because i already checked your post history and yes they are all this worthless. Can you stick to lurking/never posting again, no one wants to read your posts.

if this was so damaging then CAG would have closed down a LOT of stores a LONG time ago...man up or go home

In all fairness, I've been watching the last few years play out in the movie rental business and this will have very little affect on Blockbuster in the scheme of things as they are right now. They've been rocketing themselves into the poor house during the last couple of years to begin with. Total Access makes them little to no money (that's what you get for engaging Netflix in a price war). Blockbuster's once illustrious business design has given way to poor choices and a disasterous performance by former CEO, John Antioco.

In addition, big-box retailers such as Circuit City, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart continue to gain favor with movie studios over rental outlets because these studios usually see very little profit from rental markets as opposed to directly selling movies to customers. Blockbuster managed to corner the market during a time when VHS tapes took many months to manufacture in massive quantities (VHS movies were available months before mass release, but usually cost upwards of sixty to seventy dollars). Now that DVD production has decreased the wait time, movie studios can ship movies out quicker than ever.

Looking to the horizon, digital delivery threatens Blockbuster's (and the rental market in general) business design once again. Now that broadband connections are almost ubitiquous, digital delivery eliminates the need to travel (during a time when gas prices are at a premium) in order to pick up a movie. With digital delivery concessions becoming more and more prevalent (longer rental time, faster download speeds, and use on multiple devices), Blockbuster once again appears to absent on the first boat out of the harbor.

With digital delivery concessions becoming more and more prevalent (longer rental time, faster download speeds, and use on multiple devices), Blockbuster once again appears to absent on the first boat out of the harbor.
you just get done writing a paper on this or something?
seriously...stop being vaginas...if they accept it fine, if not, try somewhere else....having the ok from a manager up front DOES NOT make it ok...thats like having a cop say I can speed on the freeway....doesnt work like that....luckily most retailers really dont give a shit about coupons..if they accept it, fine..if not oh well

also...have a few people use a really good coupon at one store isnt going to close it down.....seriously....i think some of you were born yesterday
Alright, first... if some people have issues with it, there's no need for name-calling. Honestly, grow up.

Second, no BB isn't going to shut down because of this. They're going to be pissed, but it isn't going to hurt them enough to have a problem.

Third, the legality of the coupon is the issue. The guy says it came from 'a flyer', though he has yet to produce said flyer, plus it's fairly obvious the coupon was doctored.

Fourth, the most BB can do to individuals is ban them from the store. That's no skin off my nose, honestly. I reiterate, I'm concerned about the managers and part-time workers that accepted this. Screwing corporate is one thing, screwing the guy who is just doing his job is another.

yeah that fourth comment is what held me back from using it also. I dont want to responsible if a worker loses their job over a questionable coupon. sure it works but then to get reemed out by a DM or get the whole store reemed out..isnt worth it for 5 games. I have it printed out right next to me..but i cant find the guts or the heart to use it. This seemed like it was too good to be true. I just wished BB did this nationwide..hell 2 games for 25 would be good for me.

I have to believe that corporate would not force individual stores to eat the defecit. After all, those stores cannot control the computer system that is allowing this coupon to scan. As long as the managers contact individuals above themselves and continue to receive clearance, I can't see how they could possibly be considered liable.
if this was so damaging then CAG would have closed down a LOT of stores a LONG time ago...
Absolutely.

Just got back! Worked for me.

4 differnet employees looked at it. One girl called up two different places to ask if it was legit, and no one seemed to know anything. All the employees said if it worked they wanted to get that coupon and use it too.

Bioshock $49.99
Far Cry Instincts Predator $34.99
Forza Motorsport 2 $54.99
Gears of War $44.99
Lost Planet Collector's Edition $24.99

coupon - $194.95

Sutotal = 25.00
Total amount due = 26.71

Woot!

Just returned from two different Blockbusters. Both accepted the coupon, and both times the employee (manager in the first case) mentioned how great a deal it was. The manager was pretty shocked that it was valid.

First BB

Oblivion (PS3)
Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's
Bioshock
GRAW 2 (360)
Bullet Witch

Second BB
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
Bioshock (x2)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3)
Hitman: Blood Money (360)

Quite the fantastic deal.

I grabbed 5 games and then asked the cashier up front if the coupon was legit because "it seems too good to be true." She called the manager over and he he read it and said "I can tell you right now this is fake without even scanning it. There are numerous fake coupons floating around."

However, the manager said he was gonna call around and he took my first name and phone number to call me in case they were going to take it. So we'll see what happens. If it doesn't work I'm fine with that. I was pretty much honest and up front with them (though I told them I got it in my email) so I feel ok, I think.

Edit: Wow I'd expect managers to be more skeptical, like the one I went to. Seems some of you guys are lucking out with some chump managers.

i would just like to hear if a actual CAG BB Employee scanned this coupon and is not from KC or Kansas...

I still dont see any justification to using it. I mean one guy needs to get his coupon faxed to other stores before it can be used. Yeah good for the Cags who take advantage of it..but im to apphrensive to use it.

In the grand scheme of a corporation it doesn't matter much, but honestly think about how much money BB is losing here.

This coupon is at AT LEAST two different sites. Let's say, bare minimum, people are buying $200 worth of games. Lost money = $175.

How many people do you think have used this already? If this coupon doesn't get shut down by the time the entire country reaches opening time, it wouldn't surprise me if BB lost $30,000+ .

Worked for ME!!!!! Best deal ever.

All my games are for trade ONLY for NHL 08 (360).

I picked up:
- Two Worlds (marked $59.99 USED) (360)
- Bioshock
- Stranglehold (360)
- Ninja Gaiden (PS3)
- Heavenly Sword (PS3)

I had a coworker from work go also, he got 5 also.
Off hand, he had:
- Forza 2
- Bioshock
- CoD3 (PS3)
- GRAW 2 (I should've got that....I missed it actually)
- Rainbow Six Vegas (PS3)

I know he would be willing to sell also.....not to sound greedy or anything, but I cannot really negotiate for him :)

All and all, a GREAT deal. I still have to try two more when I leave work (after class also...damn MBA program work is paying for). I have TWO more GR that I can hit up.

I REALLY want:
- Halo 3
- Orange Box
- NHL 08
- Lair
- Warhawk

That would be a KILLER score at the next place :)

oh yeah...FW and SD get more traffic than we do i think. Its gonna be quite nasty...i think if everyone used it meaning the 10,000 plus from all three sites..it will be dam abusing...im surprised half of these stores havent cleared out witht he abuse of this coupon.

Actually, $30k would barely be a blip on BB's radar. As you said earlier, the only issue would be if individual managers and/or employees got in trouble for allowing the coupon.

dude. we get it. they're losing money and you feel guilty.

I didn't really feel like I was doing something horribly wrong. All the employees kept saying what a great deal it was, and that they wanted a copy of the coupon.

Also, keep in mind that these are games blockbuster bought used from people. So probably $200 worth of stuff is more like $100 to them. Maybe I'm just justifying it...

Your logic fail and here is why.
First of all, it is USED games.
Second, "the" game cost 60 bones and if that "game" got rent 6 times BB already make back the cost of game ^__^
so there you go, if my logic fail someone can correct me.

Exactly. That's why I'm slightly concerned... if enough people abuse this (which, sad to say, seems to be the case) BB is going to feel this. We've had way more 'accepted' then 'rejected' posts on here, so I can only imagine it's the same everywhere else.

And you bring up a good point... all good used games will be cleared out of BB by the end of the day. It was me and one other guy at opening of my BB this morning, and I can tell you that even after just the two of us, I'd have trouble cobbling together 5 more games I really wanted.

If this works, fine, but I can't support abusing it. Going to 5 different BB's for trade or sale fodder? That's pushing it.

That's chump change compared to the free fall they've been going through the last few years;

"Overall, Blockbuster has lost significant amounts of money in recent years: $1.6 billion in 2002, almost $1.0 billion in 2003, and $1.2 billion in 2004."
-Wikipedia

They're market value is close to $500 million, but that could change depending on how well Total Access is doing (after they start limiting TA programs and charging for services that were once free in order to recoup money lost from people that took advantage of once ridiculous TA programs).

It's a no go in the BB on Broadway 9th Street NYC... The cashier said i'm not the only turned down today. It's a no biggie since i know what i'm getting into. The reason was that the BB didn't get any notice about this coupon/promotion from the corporate, so they can't take it.

Not exactly true if they've been rented out using the free ecoupon for TA subscribers :D.

Just went to my local BB and....it worked.

I was just up front with the guy (manager) when I went in and said I had found this coupon online, but wanted to make sure it was legit. He thanked me and said he would just call it in to make sure. I figured that would be the end of it, but after waiting about 20 minutes while he was on hold with the district office, he was told to just try it and see if it worked.

I ended up getting:
Bioshock - $49.99
Forza 2 - $54.99
Gears of War - $44.99
Need for Speed: Carbon - $24.99
Ninja Gaiden: Sigma - $54.99

I was crossing my fingers as he was ringing it up. The total showed $230+ and then he scanned the coupon and it dropped to $27.38 with tax. Him and the other guy were more excited than I was really.

The biggest reason I was worried was that I didn't want to get the manager in trouble, because he is a really cool guy. I think he covered his bases really well by calling his main office though, so he shouldn't get in any trouble for it.

I'm keeping all of the games, so if for some reason he does get in trouble, I'm willing to take them all back if I have to.
you just get done writing a paper on this or something?
Some friends and family use to own video rental stores so I took an interest in the market. It's really quite interesting right now because both Netflix and Blockbuster seem content to offer consumer services at a price they can't afford (otherwise known as rocketing yourself into the poor house). Usually, price wars allow competing companies to at least garner marginal profits, but that's not the situation here.

In fact, I've had Total Access for the last six to seven months myself, and I can usually get 6 to 8 DVDs shipped to my house, exchange those for free rentals, and get a free game rental in one month for only ten dollars (one out at a time). I don't think my ten dollars covers the shipping.
you have to be a BB member to use the coupon?
That's a good question actually. On the coupon it states that it's only good for one use per membership.

That being said, when I bought mine, they never did ask for my membership card and it still worked.

I would guess that it will just depend on how closely the employee ringing you out looks at the coupon. It will work without a membership though.
you have to be a BB member to use the coupon?
Depending on the store/employee they may ask you to open up an account if you don't have one.

I'd like to punch the manager in the face at Ft.Wright KY'S Gamerush:hot: , i stood there for 15 minutes listening to him making phone calls on wether or not the coupon was legit. He never scanned my games or the coupon, and told me he didnt care to lose me as a customer. So Mr. Manager guy, if u ever get to read this, got eat a big ole pile shit!!! dcKILLSWITCH

Change the wait to about 5 minutes and the games to Bioshock, Crackdown, Dead Rising, Call of Duty 3 and Ninja Gaiden Black, and I could've written this exact post about my experience. Awesome deal.

Victory at 2 Cleveland locations. Lorain and 150th plus Lorain and 110th.

Same story as everyone else, the manager and clerk were just as surprised and excited as I was!

6 bioshoks 4 wii games at 2 locations
one of the the workers asked his manager about the coupon , she told him : it must be a new coupon haha
he was pissed while scanning my coupon

Went to a local BB/GR (Indianapolis, 56th and Georgetown) over lunch to check it out. There was a guy in line at the time I walked in, arguing with the cashier about the validity of his coupon, so I listened in for a while. Turns out it was this very 5 for $25. The system didn't recognize it, so the employee called someone (a local manager? his manager? no idea, but he knew them by name) and they ended up denying it.

I don't know if his printout just sucked, or if they've caught on at a large level and taken it out of the system. *shrug*

[Edited to add: Apparently not the latter, given how many people posted success stories while I was typing this.]

It's possible that your store happens to be a franchise.
