CAGiversary!
ALL INFO AND DEALS FOR GAMERUSH (pm/post with any suggestions)

If your in the Oklahoma City area stop by my store at Nw 50th and MacArthur (for now). If your a flipper/scammer at least spare my store the crap titles unless its for presales...thanks. If your good I may hook up with with a special "modification" to a current deal that you may greatly enjoy...

Please note in the next few weeks I will be changing stores to Hefner and Rockwell. They needed the help and while I like my store the pay raise was justifiable and my current sm is moving to pittsburg.

Current Deals

Trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game (LAST DAY IS MAY 16!)

Beginning March 15th till May 23rd, trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game. PSP, NDS, GBA, Xbox, Gcube, and PS2 only. No sports games before '04 and no Freestyle Street Soccer, or minigames/demo discs (the usuals). Also be aware some titles that sell for $4.99 may not work either (Haven, Project Eden, etc.) So don't get upset when they don't.

You may be limited to 10 per day though YMMV.

Trade 2 games and get New Releases and Pre-Orders for $29.99 til September 5th (subject to change)

Should go till September 5th. New releases and Preorder games only $29.99 with 2 game trades (see exclusions above or aka the usual).

Buy 1 get 1 50% til close of business May 16

This works on all preowned games including retro/n64. If any employee disagrees they can call my store at 1-700-22-40049 (not many people know about it but it calls the store in the company by the last 5 digits store code).

Buy 1 Preowned game get another 1 for 50% off. Takes off lowest priced title so separate and make sure employee scans your groups and barcode seperate.
Price and selection will vary by location and quantities are limited. Offer not valid on previously rented movies, sale items or in conjunction with any other discount or offer. Discount taken at register and will be applied towards lowest price games(s). Customer responsible for applicable taxes. Limit 2 per title per customer per day. Maximum of 20 Pre-owned games per customer per day.

1 out = $14.99 the first month....$19.99 thereafter
2 out= $24.99 the first month...$29.99 thereafter

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

$0.99 Retro Games

All Dreamcast, Snes, Genesis, and Nes games are $0.99. Games available depend on which store you go to. Games may not be marked as $0.99, but they will ring up that price. Trade in value of all games on these systems is now $0.25.

OTHER INFO

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).
Looks like the poster corrected himself, Powerdrome still gets $7 plus $5 bonus. I still have two myself :) but will probably hold onto them until the Trade 3 get 1 used for $5 starts up.
Is this confirmed? When does the trade 3 get 1 used start up?
Post or PM me if you go. I need to locate some cheap games, my CC didn't have any $1.99 games and they need to close down my TRU. Have yet to hit the local pawn shops, but I probably will. IF you go, could you find out what LoTR Third Age goes for. I've got a copy that I would like to keep but Fry's has it for $15 so I may trade mine in a grab it at Fry's afterwards.
Yeah, sorry, didn't go into GR tonight and hadn't read this message before I went out. (For some reason I didn't add LOTR to my UPC list when I was checking the Fry's games. I guess I figured that since it had a universal drop to $20 it wouldn't fetch much at GR.)

Tonight I went to a regular Blockbuster (in Clackamas) and got the following, WITH $5 bonus:

Xbox - Powerdrome Racing: $16 (still the same - I wondered if the PS2 version really dropped and now I see it hasn't - I ALMOST returned my last one to CC tonight after hitting Best Buy but didn't have time)
PS2 - NBA Live 2004 - $8 (this was $10 a week or so ago, so a small drop here)
PS2 - Hunter The Reckoning: $8

...picked up the Clone Wars DVD which all the other stores seem to be sold out of.

The interesting thing was that this Blockbuster said they were no longer taking GBA games - it was a good thing I brought 3 console games with me or it would have been a wasted trip. I had 3 GBA games as well. I'm assuming this is just this store deciding to do that, or is it all non-GR Blockbusters? I will try another in a different town tomorrow and if they don't take them I will conclude it is all non-GR BB's.

Also, I might check out the morning crew at GR tomorrow, see who's there, and try the double-dip then if it looks like I have a shot.

The Target in Wilsonville has Castlevania NES GBA for $5. I picked up 3 (and left about 10 more on the shelf!) but am going to return 2 of them since they only get $2 + possible $5 bonus. They had a few other clearanced games but nothing less than $9.98. Don't know of any other cheap sources of games around here at the moment.

Traded these in today...(before the extra $5). Can't double dip being an employee (duh)

PSP - Ape Escape $22
PSP - Rengoku $22 (I actually liked it)
PSP - Wipeout Pure $22

DS - Ridge Racer $11 (still own on PSP though for now)

Total - $97

Picked up Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia on GameCube and still have $75 left

Any exclusions on this deal, or is it still the same deal as the current (i.e. 2004 or newer sports titles, etc.)?

Tell me about it!!! My gamerush has all these new games used (i.e., 5 god of wars, 6 Jade Empires, and even a Forza Racing I saw today, plus many more).

I checked with the manager and he opened the new deal book for me and it does say starting May 17th, trade 3 - get a PO for $5. So looks like this may be a go!!! Time to stock up. Thanks for the tip!!!

I have a few games that I have multiple copies of, do the GR's care if you have traded in the same game before, but just days apart? and do GR's monitor if you have traded in a game at multiple locations?

Thanks,

VGC

sorry if this is posted or if it is already known

I saw 3 month xbox live trial, headset etc whatever it comes with for 14.99 at blockbuster

in case anyone is interested

You should be ok with trading in the same game a day apart, just to be safe. I really don't think GR can see what you bought/traded in at other GRs. I would say, just dont do it excessively (like, 5+ copies of the same game), and you will be fine.

Two of a game per day can be traded in. You can go back the next day in trade in two more of the same title if you want but only two per day works. There is no connection between GR stores thankfully. They can't track what you've traded unless they get really suspicious and call another store to ask.

So did everyone elses GRs suck about getting Forza? The closest one to me only got three copies all for preorder and the other got two copies both for preorder for the same guy but of course they put the damn display boxes out on the best seller thing. I was so happy and then bam kick to the gut.

I've seen that at Blockbuster as well. It's just a 3-month subscription, not a trial, and no headset is included. It's a nice option for people who are running out of time to renew. Instead for paying $5.99/month until they can get a deal on a 12-month card, it's only $4.99/month.
Double Dipping was in effect at noon today. Nice kid behind the counter knew nothing about it.
Did you actually ask him if you were allowed? And he said he didn't know it wasn't, or did he just allow you to do it (might make a difference in whether or not I call BS on the guy I dealt with yesterday)?

Anyway, I just PM'd you as I was able to get the deal today as well. I went in around 2:30 PM and had no problem with the girl who was there. I think the guy you mentioned was there also - he's the cool one. It's the other young guy who said they weren't allowed to double-dip any more. He's the one that gave me all the trouble on a price match a few weeks ago (first he didn't know, then I could, then I couldn't - cost me 3 wasted trips!). From now on when he's there I won't bother. Now I'm pissed that he cost me $10 of bonus credit yesterday!

I was able to trade in 4 games, including the 3 GBA games the regular BB wouldn't take Friday, and preorder Burnout Revenge and Psychonauts. When the girl was ringing it up the guy (the cool one) came out from the back and I was worried that he would let her know we couldn't do both deals - but he just chatted with me about games - very cool.

So I don't know what's up with the one guy saying "they were told" they couldn't do both deals. If it was a management decision they weren't very thorough in letting all the employees know - either that or these two today are ignoring it. Or maybe the other guy just doesn't like me (though I complain here I have been nothing but nice to him and he has done the double-dip for me before so I doubt that - just being paranoid).

Anyway, nothing spectacular here, but just to keep everyone up to date (WITH $5 bonus):

PS2 - Polar Express: $10
GBA - Castlevania (Classic NES): $7
GBA - Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits: $7
GBA - X2: Wolverine's Revenge: $7

Also I was able to pick up Star Ocean for $19.99 - they keep them in the back since they don't fit in their security boxes, so just ask for it. The cool employee told me I made a great purchase getting that for so cheap :D. No need to waste my time at Fry's.

Tonight I traded in two copies of PS2 Malice that I bought for $10 each at Kohl's and a PS2 copy of Midway arcade treasures 1 that I bought for $5 at Best buy w/ coupon.

Malice PS2 - $16 w/bonus
Midway PS2 $12 w/bonus

So I got $44 credit for a $26 outlay. Not great, but I turned around and bought a Xbox live 3 month starter kit with the credit so I'm happy. My blockbuster also has some nice looking pre owned games on hand (god of war, Doom 3 collectors, Jade empire, psyconauts).

Question:
Is there any indication that the exclusion list might be more strict than the trade 2 get one at $30 deal? Because I might start stocking up on super cheap games soon if it isn't.

What exclusion list? There are no exclusions on the extra $5 on 3 or more trades, and to my knowledge there are no exclusions on the trade 2 get a new release/preorder for $30. I'm sure some people may hassle you if you ask to get the $60 or $55 games, but if you're persistent and ask to see the fine print, then they'll probably let you. If they don't, come back later when they're not there.
no headset?

The one I saw was just a subscription card packed in a plastic pack. If that's the 3-month kit w/ headset, then $15 is a nice price.

Kowhunta,
No sports games before '04 and no Freestyle Street Soccer, or minigames/demo discs (the usuals). Also be aware some titles that sell for $4.99 may not work either (Haven, Project Eden, etc.) So don't get upset when they don't.
i'm trying desperately to pre-order Destroy All Humans for Xbox and just want to know straight out -- what seem to be the greatest turn around titles to buy cheap and trade in high? I know about the Echo Night Beyond deal but all of the EBs are sold out of the used copies around here.

Also, is the Best Buy coupon every one talks about still the one for buying the gift card? Thought they were more restrictive now (like $5 off games $29.99 and higher)?

Oh yes, they have to manually input any games that they sell for more than the value they'd give you after the $5. For example, trade values change on tuesday, but prices change on sunday. So if they drop Star Ocean 3 from $50 to $20 selling value, and the trade value from $23 to $8, you can't buy it on sunday for $20, and get $23+$5 credit. Make sense? The computer gives them an error if the $5 bonus raises the credit above the selling value.

I had him do a price check on the 5 games I was trading, he told me $62 plus $25 bonus. I then asked if I could get preoders for $29.99 and he said sure, but only two. (I wasn't really thinking at the time, I should have held one game back for the next trip.... but it might have cost me $5 or more if the trade value went down).

Polar Express GC $10
Monkey Ball GC $12
LoTR Third Age Xbox $13
Links 2004 Xbox $12
Unreal Championship 2 Xbox $40
(prices include $5 bonus)

They don't have the preorders I want in the system yet (Star WArs: Battlefront 2 the new Total War game, battleground: Midway) so I preorderd NCAA 2006 Xbox and Darkwatch.

I picked up my copy of Forza and Episode III. I will probably end up using both of these for trade-ins next week. After playing Burnout 3 it's hard to get used to a sim racer again. Episode III received a 4.5 from IGN and since I have nobody to play multiplayer with, I will finish the campaign this week and dump it as well.

OK, so you (very smartly I might add) didn't ask if the combination wasn't allowed any more (this might have prompted them ask their manager and find out about it!). You just did the $5 bonus deal (they tend do this automatically) and then asked about preorders. I did the same thing a few hours later - I just asked, very innocently, if they "still had that $5 bonus thing, and that preorder deal".

The guy I got the other day told me up front that I had to pick one or the other deal - so avoid him if you know who I'm talking about.

I might have to get in there again today or tomorrow and see if I can get one last set of preorders in - deals ending soon one way or another anyway.

To AWP: Don't know of any great cheap games right now for GR trade-in. If you have a Fry's you might see if they have Digimon Rumble Arena 2 for $9.90. I don't know what it gets this week but last week it was $19 with the bonus. Also, the coupon that I keep talking about, anyway, is the $5 off any PS2 or PSP game valued at $19.99 or under. So it is kind of opposite the GGC. It is available on some thread in the Deals forum - just do a search there. Print it full page size. I have used this at 2 Best Buy's in Virginia and 2 in Oregon with only one minor glitch this weekend (they would only do 1 and not the other I had, saying it was "one per household" - but they told me to use the other one next time I was in :D). The best game to get with that is Midway Arcade Classics 1 since you will get it for $5 and it trades for $7 W/O the bonus.
i'm trying desperately to pre-order Destroy All Humans for Xbox and just want to know straight out -- what seem to be the greatest turn around titles to buy cheap and trade in high? I know about the Echo Night Beyond deal but all of the EBs are sold out of the used copies around here.

PS2 Malice is 7.99 used at EB, and gets 11 + 5 bonus if you're trading in 3 at GR, so you can double your money on that one. PS2 Auto Modellista is 3.99 used at EB, so you can probably get at least 6.50 at GR for that (1.50 plus 5 bonus)

BTW, are there GR in Bay Area? I'm moving to Berkeley in June/July for school, and I want to know if I can continue to be a GR'er hehe :)
The one I saw was just a subscription card packed in a plastic pack. If that's the 3-month kit w/ headset, then $15 is a nice price.

Kowhunta,
Either way this is a good thing for me, I never thought to check there i'd always been looking on Ebay. My subscription expires the 17th of this month and I wanna keep my name so i dont have to bother switching my friends over to a 2 month trial name. I'm all over this since i got around $10 GR credit already. Thanks to whoever posted about this 3 month kit first. :D

Ok... How did I just get 2 new releases for $6.53?

I did the trade 2 for a new release twice in the same transaction. Traded 4 games : XBX: Turok, Soul C II, Maximum Chase, and Driver... Employee reserved them, gives me the one already released and then tells me - not bad - 2 new releases for $6.53.

My receipt has 49.99 - 20.00 coupon on each title... subtotal of 59.98, tax, and then a total amount due of $6.53... wtf? This is pretty cool...

wtf is right.. How much did they give you in trade for the games? It'll say on the trade receipt, and maybe you had credit on your account from previous trades? Either way it's good times. You can pretty much rent for free as long as you keep getting games you can get your money (credit) back from. Cause you trade 2 for $30 then you can trade that game back in whenever the next game drops that you wanna try and either get your $30 back or make an extra $5 if it's a $35 game. :)

Do any of you Gamerush employees know if we will also receive the trade in value of the 3 games IN ADDITION To getting any used game for $5??? I know the deal has not started yet but it just sounds a little too good.

Odds are that you WILL be able to receive the trade-in value for the games you trade in towards the $5 game, as that's what BB/GR has done in the past for similar deals.

No, the trade in 3, get an extra $5 per game ends on 5/16. The new deal starts 5/17.
Hmmm, I think it's time to trade my high priced titles in and maybe try to get them back with the trade 3 get one preowned for $5
It's 2 soon, wait till the night b4 the deal starts to trade then come back to buy then next morning. If they question it tell um you felt bad about trading so you decided to get it back.:D
Can someone explain the Trade 3 for $5 deal?
Its on teh first page.

Simply its bring in 3 games you get $5 each EXTRA on top of the normal trade in value.

Current gen only.

I was confused because of the way this post was worded because I was thinking that it was going to be a new deal that was set up like the Trade 3 for $10 deal. I didn't pay attention to the fact that is was dealing with the Trade 3 get an extra $5 deal.
He might mean the trade in 3 games get a used game for $5 deal that might be coming up
That is exactly what I meant.
