Discouraging News from My Gamerush.
I went in there last week, and they had the entire game section tore apart. It was pointless trying to look for anything. The DM, a very nice (and good looking) lady, said that they were just re-configuring when I asked. I went in there on Friday and was very disappointed to see that the games section was shrunken considerably. The walls in that section were all new-release DVD rentals, and all games had been relegated to the gondolas. That meant that the gondolas that used to hold new and used games now held rentals, etc. Basically, the "new" section of each game system was now very tiny. I looked around for the new DS games and couldn't find them. I asked the manager about it.
"Oh, we're not going to be carrying new DS anymore. PSP either. Used only. Nobody was buying it. The DS games just sat around collecting dust."
I then pointed out that I would have bought at least 3 DS games in the past month or two if they had gotten them in within a reasonable time. If the new games don't come in how am I supposed to buy them? He just shrugged. I asked if this was chain wide and he replied "Not Yet"
I then asked him what he knew about the PS3. He got excited and said that they were going to take pre-orders only when they knew their allotments. They didn't want a repeat of the 360 fiasco. So if that's chain-wide policy I wouldn't expect to pre-order at GR until a month or so before November. He then proceeded to tell me the release date and that there would be two versions, a $599 and a $399. I asked if he meant $599 and $499, I had been following the E3 news. He said "We've been told to tell people $399 if they ask". Oh-Kay. He then continued: "The only difference is the hard drive size". I then proceeded to correct him again about the lack of HDMI, Wi-Fi, etc., but either he did not believe me or he was again told to say that the HDD was the only difference.
Then I asked him about "The new nintendo". He said they hadn't heard anything about it, and he didn't know if they'd even be carrying it.
So here I am with $200 worth of credit, probably no way to use it on a DS Lite, Wii, or DS games, and I have no desire to drop $600 on a PS3. . I guess I'll be buying 360 games exclusively at Gamerush.
And to make this post on-topic, here's a couple trade-in prices:
