Well, after some overtime and a shower, I did some shopping on saturday and came up with some good stuff:

1. Went to a local gameshop and saw an RE4 collector's edition for 42 bucks. Everything was practically new looking, and the art cell was still sealed so I traded in my regular copy of RE 4 and 2 Xbox games and picked it up along with Darius Twin, the Paper Mario 2 Guide (couldn't get oen for a penny) and an Eternal Darkness guide (game iz teh sweet).

2. Went to Target and found a copy of Kirby: Nightmare in dreamland for 5 bucks (Clearance). Alas, it was already pennied out and they were ready to throw it away until I said "Oh, well, it was for my little sister" at which point their hearts were touched and they sold it to me. I haven't seen that game go for any less than 24.99 cart only around where I live, so I say a new copy for 5 isn't too bad

3. I went to Wal-Mart to pick up some lip-balm (medicinal side-effects mean terribly chapped lips) and check for any game deals. I went to the electronics department and saw no bargains (Go figure), but what did I see on the floor but a bag of Susan B. Anthony dollar coins(21)! I waited around the section for a good 35 minutes waiting for someone to show up looking for them(and digging through the giant bin of crap they refuse to clearance), but no one came, so I did the unethical and took them.

All in all, I think I got a good score for the night. That RE4 CE is sitting there on my shelf like the badass game it is, and kirby is waiting to be palyed on the go. I felt kind of bad for taking the coins, but the last time I turned in a lost item at the Wal-MArt front desk I saw the clerk pocket it (it was a money clip with about 36 bucks) so I figure I should give them to my nephew for his coin collection instead of the shifty CS rep.

Wow, I had sincere doubts that honest folk such as yourself still existed in today's world. Perhaps there's hope for humanity yet. :D

Sounds like your lips "hurt real bad!"

All references aside, they really really do hurt. And thanks for the props everyone, it's been a while since I got a really good deal.

In all honesty- no one carries around 20 bucks in Susan coins. Most likely, those were dropped by some kid who raided his elderly relatives coin collections. I wouldn't feel too bad. Good deals!

Those are some great finds. I would love to find a copy of Kirby for that cheap at my Target, but alas I have only found two good deals so far there ($4.98 for Classic NES: Castlevania and a cheap copy of preview disc for the GC that I found a while ago).

What an asshole. That happened to my grandpa once...He handed in about $100 worth of stamps he found once(this was in the 1940s, so it would be worth more now). After he checked back a month later, the guy said he didn't know what he was talking about. Nice find though. Good job.

I once had a little girl in the store trying to pay with $1 red seal Silver Certificates (only a few of you probably know what they are) but anyways, I did ethical thing and got her mom's attention and got her to give me some regular bills.

The lady didn't even thank me. Those certificates weren't in prestine shape but they were probably worth atleast $20 each.

I don't think I would've even waited 35 minutes, I would've put the money in my pocket waited maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and said fuck it, it's walmart. Cool that Target sold you the game after your story. I may have to try that sometime... I'll just say it's for my horse!

Good eyes! The no thank you though...

Way way back in the early 80s when the Susan B's was more "popular", my brother had a coin purse with at least a dozen or so of them in it. He misplaced it or dropped it at the BX (that's a store on a military base). He was really upset about it and was crying. We had it announced over the speakers that a coin purse containing the dollars was lost, that it belonged to a small child, etc. We looked all over, as well as waiting about 30 minutes for someone to turn it in, but no one ever turned it in. He was 6 or 7 at the time and we was so dirt poor (father just got out of the Army and was in college to get an education), so it was a pretty big loss. It's not like my parents could just hand him another coin purse of coins as we was that poor. We got a 50 cent allowance a week, so that was at least 24 weeks of his savings there that he lost (or had his birthday money in there or something, I forget). He had to suck it up like an adult and accept the loss. It still bothers me today to remember the event and is one of my top bad memories of my youth. I hope the one that lost the money is someone well off finacially and not a child, so it won't be so tramatic for them.
