Games that are announced but never arrive

CAGiversary!
I know this has been done to death, but I have a game that I know was cancelled, but I missed the official announcement, but wouldn't mind knowing about it. I'll keep this generic, so if anyone is in the same boat as me, they can ask here, and hopefully find out what happened.

My question is about BC. I remember when I bought my Xbox (the original) this was a game on the back of the box. I know it was delayed quite a few times, but now I never hear of it (so I assume it was cancelled). Is there a story behind it?

Well if your looking for a list then The Four Horsemen and the Apocalypse was looking decent and then vanished with a buy up.

No, I wasn't looking for a list. I was looking if anyone knew why BC was canceled, but I left it open so if there was anything that anyone else was wondering, they could ask it here.

In before Duke Nu...DAMN!

maybe it had something to do with the Movies? didn't that game flop completely? maybe they decided their time would be better spent on Fable 2...

Molyneux said that he was unsure when he could release it due to "the ambitious nature of the gameplay and the high standards the people developing it are pushing for."

Here's hoping it ends up on 360 or PS3. Even though it would be cool if it popped up on some next next gen system with crazy shit that makes it feel like you're really living back in prehistoric days.
Thrill Kill !! Anyone remember/know??
Yep what I was thinking. It was cancelled for being overly violent. But then we get Backyard wrestling a few years later...

From what I understand you can find it on the net.

you didnt miss much. i played it and for all the hype theres games with way more sex and violence in them nowdays then that game had. some of the instant kill moves were cool though and the characters were odd and creepy.

WHERE THE fuck IS IT?!?!??!
Oh I've played it. It's been demoed at CES and you can be sure that it will be out.

2 Days to Vegas looks AMAZING.. and nothing's been said about it.

Also.. Eight Days looked GREAT.. and nothing's been said about it in over a year (last mention I saw was E3 06). It's one of the reasons I picked up a PS3.

//edit: Would also like more footage of Heavy Rain.

Funny you mention that just the other day I was thinking, when is that bad ass game with the cool animation coming out. I have a feeling that was a never to be seen again game, but I hope not.

My biggest game that I was looking forward to was The Lost, just for the fact that it was Dantes Inferno and such a cool premise for the game.

Lets hope that Heavy Rain doesn't get the treatment of never to be seen again.

Pretty much like the OP. Had a screenshot on the back of the box of the first Xbox I bought. Didn't hear anything else after that until I looked it up and found it was cancelled. It was also included some of those promo inserts that came in Microsoft's xbox games.
I played that at my first E3. My now-wife worked PR at that booth, and it was the first time I met her. We've been together for 5 years. ::laughs::
But yeah, it looked good. Same company who developed BioShock, by the way.

As others said, it was too violent. At Game Informer, we had a playable copy. Also, the engine went almost directly to the Wu Tang Shaolin Style game for PSone.

And I'll take this opportunity to bring up the playable copy of Kameo for regular Xbox that I have.

As for others that disappeared, how about Fear Effect 3? And didn't Capcom show off some weird action/adventure game that looked like Indiana Jones meets Cubivore years ago? Half-Life Dreamcast is another good one.

those fear effect games were horrible. all that sold hem was the lesbian storyline. and yeah i bought my copy partially for that but the game to me was unplayable and annoying not to mention how little they had storywise on each disk. each one had what like 15 to 30 minutes worth of gameplay if even that. did like the zombies though.

I kind of liked them. Very arbitrary puzzles and not for everyone, but a decent blend of action and adventure. Worse series have gotten a full trilogy (or more).

I found a poster for Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse the other day while looking through my poster tubes. I think I wanted one of GI's Arc the Lad Trilogy posters, and my co-worker made me take Four Horsemen, too, as a joke.

I imagine someone got the rights in the 3DO fire sale, then didn't do anything with it. Perhaps the license to the comic expired?

I had bootleg copies of Thrill Kill from Hong Kong..

I used to sell these on ebay for $50+ when selling bootlegs were not enforced on ebay..

good old days..

yeah i miss the days when you could get quality bootlegs everywhere on the net. i remember this one guy used to sell games and movies 3 for 10. got alot of cool japaan exclusive games and thrill kill. and some very odd porn man porn in japan is kinda sad really or maybe i just got some shitty porn.

I remember reading about a game in Game Informer around 1999-2000, which means you might remember it as well ViolentLee, about a game based around playing cards called Deuce. I just remember that you were a knight whose body was the two of hearts and that the jack of spades was the villain.

Oh yeah, totally. I remember seeing a preview or something on it. Looked like a lame 3D platformer. I think Midway was publishing it?

After a minute of Google searching, I found a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcNmXzJVkeg
Also, I remember how you start as the 2 of hearts, but as you get more life (like in Zelda), the card number value on your chest gets bigger.

The video's also a good example of placeholder audio -- when members of the dev team or QA do the voices themselves, just to test out implementation, before actually casting for them.

Alan freaking Wake.

And I think BC was set aside in favor of franchise-building with a la Fable 2.

I was gonna post this, seriously I'm losing intrest in the game as time goes on.

Fear Effect: Inferno. Man I was really looking forward to that game, but yeah it was canceled. Am I the only one who likes the Fear Effect games?

A few more days lol...

Even though now it is 7 months later than it's original planned US release...

Thanks for the video, I never even thought of searching Youtube for something on it. I just remembered liking the premise with the playing cards.

Now if someone could come up with a story for a game with playing cards that's dark. Easier said than done though I'm sure.
Where the fuck is Earthbound 64?!?!?!
Thats what I'm asking. Or at least make a new earthbound game. There has to be enough fans to make it worth it. EARTHBOUND WII!!!!!

Earthbound 64 = Mother 3 in a nutshell. The 64 version was scrapped since the team had difficulty working on a 3D game. Unfortunately, Nintendo of America doesn't give a shit about what fans want and skipped the Mother 1+2 and Mother 3 GBA releases.

Sonic X-Treme was another title that just seemed to vanish due to dwindling amounts of people working on the game and Sonic Team giving a big fat thumbs down.

Robotech: Crystal Dreams for the Nintendo 64. :( fuck, I waiting forever for that as a kid.
