Games you really want for Wii VC but almost definitely won't be there

The licensing issues with Tecmo Super Bowl (in NES, SNES, or GEN) formats would be the primary consideration, I believe.

I've just never seen them re-issue the NES version of TSB before... and, for whatever reason, I doubt that it'll find it's way to the VC. Tecmo Bowl perhaps, but probably not the TSB version sadly as that was my favorite.

Can I add NES Open to the list?

I loved that game, but I think it would be pretty low on their list of titles that would make it to the VC.
Great call!! I loved that game.

Another great game would be:

Battle of Olympus
Awesome, another fan of Battle of Olympus, a game that destroys the oft-mentioned Zelda II in every way. Everyone who enjoyed Zelda II or games like Wonderboy III should try Battle of Olympus...heck, everyone should try it, one of the best games ever made to this day.

What I would like to see:

Seiken Densetsu 3 (the sequel to Secret of Mana) - never released in English, and Secret of Mana is my favorite SNES game.

Terranigma - another SNES game that failed to make it to the U.S. I also love SoulBlazer and Illusion of Gaia, the other games in the series, so this would be wonderful.

Adventure Island 4 - the one we didn't get for NES

I hope they get Saturn games on there eventually. I'd like to try:

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Burning Rangers
Shining Force III Episode 2
Shining Force III Episode 3

That is my hope/dream as well. PDS spanned 4 cds, though, so it seems somewhat unlikely, even with improved compression algorithms.

007 Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Earthbound 0 (aka Mother), X-Men & X-Men 2 The Clone Wars (both for Genesis), The X-Men (ARCADE), The Simpson's (ARCADE), and WWF No Mercy / Wrestlemania 2000

Probably because EA Sports owns the NFL license.

I would like to see Shamus (Atari 800).

I played the hell out of it as a kid but just had serious problems using the keyboard to move and shoot. I'd like to see how well it's held up and to if having two analog sticks help. Always been a huge fan of those type games (Robotron, Smash TV, etc.).

Yeah.... and ain't that a pisser.

EA has an exclusive NFLPA license as well, so we probably couldn't see Tecmo Bowl either then at that rate.

The interesting question becomes, do the NFL and NFLPA licenses apply to players who are no longer active in the league. Damn Morten Anderson had to come back and is now the only player in the league that was in Tecmo Super Bowl.

If ea didn't have the NFL licence, tecmo could have done like ea does with there college games.

for example, the quarterback at ohio states name in the game is no.10 , but then you have the option to rename the player troy smith. I think they could just do that, also keep the player ratings the same as when the game 1st was released.
I'd really like to see Terranigma, the third and final entry in the loosely-related trilogy that also included Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. It was never released in America, and I believe I read that the Virtual Console releases will be region-encoded, so I doubt we'll see it here, though Europe and Japan might get it.

I'd also like to see some old arcade games, like the six-player X-men game and the Simpsons arcade game, though those probably won't make it onto the Virtual Console.
SLAPS Wet. Call it the Enix Trilogy, the proper fan coined named "I" came up with! X-(
I think if it's released in Europe on the VCS Enix will release it here since they'd have to do NOTHING but change the region coding before uploading it. It's not like they'd need to produce more cartridges of it out and frankly I disagree and see "Earthbound Zero" if it's true Nintendo fully translated it. It would seem a shame with all the Earthbound love. Besides when Nintendo uploads the SNES one I think they'll be surprised seeing how many people buy it and will think twice if they had decided not to release it before.
What else comes to mind? "3X3 Eyes" is a definite no and "Clock Tower" is pretty likely a no.
I'm hoping EnixSquare will translate "7th Saga 2: Holy Ark" as well as "Secret Of Mana 2" and just charge $2 extra per for the translation job. Same applies to "Treasure Hunter G". Square needs to stop treating it like the Black Sheep.
Oh! And the original "Romancing Saga"'s as well as the original "Final Fantasy 3" unless the original is an unlockable on the upgraded DS version.
Speaking of "Final Fantasy 4" was the translation fixed or is there still no mention of Rosa and Cecil sleeping together and all that stuff?

Well Tecmo could, if they were so inclined, remove the players names and replace them with generic info, but that might be more trouble than its worth.

I have to admit, I know very little about Terranigma. While I'm at it, I also have to admit that I haven't gotten around to finishing Illusion of Gaia. Soul Blazer, though, was one of my favorite SNES games. To this day, I still get the music stuck in my head. I'd eventually like to play through Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma, so I'm hoping we see Terranigma on the VC. Like you said, all they have to do is change the region encoding, so maybe it will happen.

The translation was improved for the Playstation release of Final Fantasy Chronicles; it was further improved for the GBA release of Final Fantasy IV Advance. FF IV was another of my favorite SNES games, though sadly I haven't yet had a chance to play through the rereleases, so I can't verify whether the full extent of Rosa and Cecil's relationship was mentioned or not.

Well while we are discussing hypothesis, it is completely possible for EA's contract to state exclusivity for Next Gen 2X new release/retail titles. Thus leaving the door open for a 20 year old port to a virtual console.

And to whomever originally posted Solar Jetman, why the doubt on that game? Just curious.

I wanna see these even though the chances are slim:

Battetoads
NES and Arcade versions please.

Goldeneye & PD w/ framerate fixes and online --no other changes.
I still play both games often. Goldeneye is still one of my favorite games ever but PD's techincal problems are too hard to ignore.

Body Harvest
I only want this on VC in hopes Rockstar North makes a sequel. Direct or spirtual is fine with me.

Shadowrun
Sega CD version only, even if untranslated.

Eternal Champions Challenge from the Dark Side w/ online play
This would just be lots of fun to play online and watch all the CG cine-kills

Weaponlord w/ online
Fix the SNES's framerate problems and throw in online play and I'd be in heaven.

Super Adventure Rockman
Because it looks interesting and it's a bitch trying to track down an original copy.
Bugs Bunny Death Valley Rally.

I love that game--it was just like playing a cartoon!!
I think that was Road Runner, not Bugs Bunny ;) Fun game though :)

NES: Ducktales 1/2, Darkwing Duck, pretty much anything with the Disney liscence from that time.

SNES: Battleclash, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Uniracers (one of Rockstar North's first games).

N64: Body Harvest

You're right, mea culpa. I was in a hurry this morning and without coffee and realized after I logged out I had misquoted it, my bad.

To me if Enix didn't take the opportunity to release Terranigma over here on VCS I think they'd be flushing money down the toilet personally. Also I like "SoulBlazer" better than "Illusion Of Gaia". It's not that "Illusion Of Gaia"'s story is bad, it's just that it's gameplay can feel like a drag after a while. "SoulBlazer"'s ending is kinda cool and different.
I wonder who was behind the Enix Trilogy storywise as well as with Actraiser and Actraiser 2, if they were one and the same. I mean in "SoulBlazer" you're a servent of God sent down to fix things and in Actraiser 1 and 2 you either play God or servent of God in an action oriented aspect with some variables in it. Granted the other two don't follow along these exact lines but some similiarity is felt, and cameo's are made. I'm pretty sure Turbo has a cameo in "Illusion Of Gaia" and another enemy from "SoulBlazer" you meet in it after collecting the maximum of jewels. Seriously if Enix has any more product like the Enix Trilogy as well as "Brainlord" and "Robotrek" I'd like to see them. No offense to Dragon Quest but these games definitely had a nice sense of Action RPG gameplay.
The Disney Capcom games might be a licensing nightmare even if they were good. It would be smart to introduce them to kids but who knows if it'll happen.

I haven't kept up with news concerning Wii VC, but I was just thinking. What will the old school games end up looking like on my tv? I mean, especially on a HDTV.
NES: Ducktales 1/2, Darkwing Duck, pretty much anything with the Disney liscence from that time.

Again. Why do you believe these won't show up? That is the tread topic afterall, not wishlist games. Disney is all over the GBA and DS and even GC. What's stopping them from throwing a ROM up on the VC to rake in even more money?

I suppose Capcom fighting with them over licensing costs. Capcom after all used the Disney license and made the games, not Disney paying Capcom to make the game and owning the rights to use it.

Okay. That makes sense. Thanks for elaborating.

Faxanadu and Magic of Scheherazade sit at the top of my list. Both fun, though badly translated games (but in the NES days, what wasn't? ;)). However, the companies that put these two out in the US have been defunct for ages (Broderbund for Faxanadu, Culture Brain for Scheherazade)

Corrected :)
Thats funny, but not quite right. For some reason the NFL likes exclusive contracts with many of its sponsors and always splits others. If someone else offered the NFL a better offer once EA's contract is up they would drop EA like a bad habit.

Not sure what's possible and what's not but here's my wishlist...

NES - Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!
NES - RBI Baseball
NES - TMNT II: The Arcade Game
SNES - Super Mario RPG
N64 - any of the AKI wrestling games
N64 - Goldeneye
2600 - River Raid
GEN - Kid Chameleon
GEN - Shining in the Darkness

Battletoads(nes) - that game was the first to teach me the meaning of anger
Shining Force(gen)- That could make it though
Golgo 13(nes)
Bases Loaded(nes)
godzilla: destroy all monsters(nes)
teenage mutant ninja turtles(nes) - the non-arcade one
klax(gen/nes)

Perfect Dark. (Online)
Goldeneye (Online)
Blast Corps.
Ghostbusters. (Genesis)
Automobili Lamborghini (Online)

No other FPS's have PD and GE's great gamplay style.

Also, the only real problem I see with PD is the framerate, which can easily be fixed with the VC.

No other FPS has the amount of options that PD does.

Mischief MAkers (N64)
Battletoads (NES)
Sweet Home (NES)
Kid Chameleon (Genesis)
Slaughterhouse (NES)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES)
Disney's MAgical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse (SNES...this game is seriously rad!)

I think this might be the name of the game.

Clash at Demonhead (NES)

I played the hell outta this game, and loved every minute of it. I never did beat it, and to play it again would be awesome.

I would absolutely kill for online versions of Super Mario Kart- SNES (4-8 player racing even better) and No Mercy.

Out of those two I expect to see Mario Kart on the VC but I doubt it will be online.
