Games you were Excited for that turn out to be Turds II
I don't know. Southpeak is kind of on my avoid list ever since I bought Two Worlds on release day. Thank god I was able to unload it soon after for a minor loss. They also published Monster Madness.
That is because SouthPeak puts out nothing but trash. Every publisher puts out some kind of garbage, but to say you will swear them off its like video game racism.

I'm not saying it's the right thing to do or that people should totally ignore a publisher. I'm just giving an example of a publisher for me that is close to that sort of ideal Nephlabobo has towards Ubisoft because of AC now. I disagree completely with him as well that Assassin's Creed was bad too.

Back to SouthPeak though...about the only game from that I could say hasn't been horrible has been Scourge: Hive for the GBA, but even that wasn't spectacular. Am I missing another title by them that was decent or better? You're agreeing though that SouthPeak is one you can most of the time overlook like that. I think you're taking it too far to say it's "racism".

Yes I can overlook Southpeak for most of their games, but Ubisoft puts out some good games that you can't overlook. I mean there are some publishers that just put out trash like Southpeak and Destineer.

The only one I can think of at the moment is Tecmo NBA Basketball on the SNES. I figured Tecmo Superbowl was awesome on the NES so NBA had to be good. It was passable at best.

*edit*

Also, every Twisted Metal game after Twisted Metal 2.
Thats the weirdest thing I ever heard. Swearing off a publisher because of bad games? If you did that you wouldn't play anything?
Ass's Creed scarred me for life.

I would have to say Spiderman 3. I preordered this thing and was psyched until after about 10 minutes of playing it and having to swing Mary Jane around the city to collect hearts .... what the fuck?!?! HEARTS!!!!!

Aw, c'mon, TM:Black was the shit.

It was mentioned before but the game that had a large effect on me was Star Ocean 3. I waited/anticipated playing this game for year or two. What a bummer.

Xenosaga was mildly disappointing. I had it hyped way too much in my head after gears but i still love the series.

While still fun, I was upset with Valkyrie Profile 2 after loving the first game to death. I Hope the new DS game will be decent.

EDIT forgot to mention wild arms 4 blah. At least WIld arms 5 made up for it.

To be fair, I only had the online version which wasn't all that fun IMO.

Actually, I take back my response. Twisted Metal Black: Online was my biggest disappointment.

Nothing like waiting months to get the disc only to find four people online at any time; three of which were using AOL dial-up.

I'm sure it'd be fantastic if people actually played it. The single-player is unmatched.

Drakengard is AMAZING, You just have to put in some work before it gets there.
Go back, play it again. Get all the weapons, power up your guy, and get all the endings.

You WON'T be disappointed.
Hell yeah. I love Drakengard. Too bad the second one sucked.

Hmm. Maybe if I turn the sound off so I don't have to listen to that damn dragon.

...

And maybe if I turn off the TV so I don't see the miles of open space where there should be enemies/allies/you know, something.

...

And maybe if I just get back to No More Heroes on Bitter.

Soldier of Fortune: Payback

I was a huge fan of the Soldier of Fortune franchise, I still enjoy the first two games very much, but this last installment in the franchise was an utter and complete disappointment.

The Story/Campaign was ridiculous, AI was pretty un-rivaled when it comes to stupidity, and it's kinda sad when the one gimmick the game has going for it(shooting body parts off of people and ripping dead bodies apart with your gun/explosives) is the only thing going for it. Ofcourse everyone doesn't know until they've already purchased it. Fortunately I rented this game and only felt that a fraction of time was wasted in my life, I feel sorry for anyone that paid more than $20 for this abomination in the SOF Franchise.

:360: The Outfit.

I was a big fan of Relic's Homeworld games on the PC, so when I saw they were making a WWII action-strategy game for the 360, I was pretty stoked. Needless to say, it didn't meet my expectations.

Yeah, Star Ocean 2 is still probably my favorite game ever, so I was pumped for this one. Then I played it. Uh...WTF? Star Ocean 4 "The Last Hope" is the most appropriate title EVER.

I would say recently I picked up Brothers In Arms and I'm a little dissapointed by the pop up and graphical glitches that make watching the overall great story almost unwatchable. I wish a little more time was put into the graphical engine, this doesnt make it a turd but it hindered my enjoyment thus far. NOW for a turd! I am going to say Kengo Legend of the 9. What a pile of crap! I enjoyed the Way of the Samurai and Bushido Blade series, but DAMN! This game had the depth of a flash game on the internet and was no comparison to games that came out in past console generations. I felt robbed of my money and time wasted by this craptastic game. Stay away from this game!
Gears of War
I grew up loving the Unreal series, and just about everything that Epic had made up til Gears.
Gears is... just something entirely different I have little to no interest in. I respect it for what it is, but meh... no thanks.
You forgot the part about Gears of War killing Unreal. How many years has it been since we seen a story based installment in the original unreal series?

What console?

Asuka 120% Burning Fest. Limited...just because I wanted to throw it out there. I imported it from Japan and hated it. It felt like a NES fighting game for the Saturn.

For recent games, I'll say Odin Sphere. It's got great graphics but that's the only thing I liked about it.

I'll also throw out Iron Phoenix. It had the potential to be great but they screwed it up. Also, people spamming the same moves over and over made it get old fast.

I second Odin Sphere. Such a shame that the amazing artstyle went to waste. It was fun for the first couple of minutes, but it didn't take long for me to find out that I was doing the same thing over and over. Not a horrible game, but a big let-down.

New Super Mario Bros. Again, not a bad game, but playing it feels dumb considering that its big brothers beat it in every way that counts.

The World Ends With You. It's not at all what I was expecting, especially after all the hype. Story was good, but felt a lot like the Bleach anime and honestly, the battle system just isn't all that fun.
Zelda Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine are definitely turds.
Mario Sunshine is the only 3D Mario that I couldn't play all the way through.

Ninja Gaiden 2. I wouldn't call it a turd, but my expectations were so much higher than the broken mess that was delivered. After beating it, I just popped in Ninja Gaiden Black instead.

Turok for the 360.

I loved playing that game on the n64, was one of my favorite. All the articles and things i heard about made it seem amazing, I bought it day one. I think I may have played it a total of 3 hours since I got it.
Bump again for Dead Rising. Lots of cool ideas but the AI is absolutely atrocious.
Wow this is the first time I heard something about the AI in this game... I figured they were pretty good, give them a break they are zombies with a one track mind.. Eat PEople lol...

He probably means the AI of the survivors, which was pretty horrid.
He probably means the AI of the survivors, which was pretty horrid.
Well then I can agree, other then that on a defense note on the survivors in a movie standpoint when are they ever smart? Haha...

Heres another TURD I recently though of and even though it is still playable its basically the developers decisions that put it in this catagory for me:

All the decisions made with the release and then in turn the companies response to the people that complained about the issues, thats right NISA this Turd's for you and the nominee is

Rhapsody:A Musical Adventure DS

Like I said the game is still plenty playable its just the glitches and the decisions to shaft the US consumer that make this a let down for fans of the company..

Spore disappointed me. I know the Space stage is supposed to be great but damnit I just can't will myself to get there.

I just finished MGS4 and at times I just wished I could play it and not watch it.
He probably means the AI of the survivors, which was pretty horrid.
Yes, I mean the AI of the survivors. I clear a path and tell a survivor to follow me. What do they do? Either stand still or swerve off the side right into the fucking crowd of zombies. For now I'm just rescuing what I can and anything I miss will just have to wait for subsequent playthroughs. I have the patience to do a single 'saint' playthrough when I am maxed out at level 50.

I dont know how much this really qualifies but Kameo: Elements of Power was somewhat of a downer. Admittedly, this was one of the few platform exclusive games that I *really* want to play. I still enjoyed the game, but I think it's because I only paid 7 bucks for it. The controls were sloppy and that can just ruin a platformer. I loved the art style but all in all, while a nice diversion, I cant say it was a good game.

Also, I wasnt too fond of Trace Memory and Hotel Dusk Room 215. Both had decent storylines, but as *games* I thought they were lacking. I hated that you couldnt add items to your inventory until you triggered a need for them. That caused some frustrating backtracking. And while some would call the puzzles that used *all* of the DS functions (TM = Ink stamp, HD=CPR) innovative, I would just call them esoteric. Those were thinking a little *too* outside the box for me. Honestly, I think I would have rather experienced their stories as novels rather than games.

SOCOM: Confrontation

I am sooo pissed about the shit quality of this game....just all around unfinished..they should have pushed the date till it was polished...I traded it in today and got Dead Space

Honestly, Mass Effect. I was super excited about the game, all the reviews raved and it was unplayable because of frame rate problems. Maybe it was my 360 - it did die eventually - but any combat scenes were next to impossible because of the frame rate issues. I was sorely disappointed.

Now, this isn't to say that it wasn't a great game, just that I was really disappointed.

Kessen 3

Kessen 2 was alot of fun with alot of strategy, different environments, and story-based gameplay elements (like magic abilities and unique mission-based events).

Kessen 3 traded this all in for a more realistic setting and a real-time action feel mixed up with RPG elements. Except the menus were among the clunkiest I've ever dealt with, the capabilities of the units were unintuitive and unbalanced, and the timing elements sucked alot of fun out of the title for me. I hated how the game forced you to be a harried micromanager instead of the powerful imperial commander I wanted to be.

Onimusha 3. For some reason I lost all interest in this title once they made this half-assed attempt to westernize it. Why am I fighthing Japanese demons in Paris? Couldn't I, I don't know, fight some European demons while I'm here. And what's up with the whip - can't we give the Frenchy something more appropriate like a ancient European sword or a musket? The goofy plot, ridiculous setting and stupid whip character just killed it for me.

Onimusha 1 and 2 were beautiful games - 1 was a great warrior epic and 2 was a great expansion on this with the 5 unique characters with different stories that you got a chance to play. These two games were immersive and the setting fit, and the plot while somewhat derivative never distracted from the other parts that just worked so well. I also still think Onimusha 2 has the best opening of any game I've ever seen (skip to 5:35 for the good stuff):

Kessen 3's story was so much better though. One of the few times Nobunaga is portrayed as something other than the "Demon King."

i traded it and haze and got $33ish for them both....extra $10 on 2 ps3 games plus 10% edge and Haze's trade value is $7..you do the math on socom

33-10-7(.1)-7=SOCOM with edge
23-.70-7
16-.70
15.30 = with edge

15.30-[15.30(.10)]
15.30-1.53
13.77 without edge

15.30-[15.30(.20)]
15.30-3.06
12.24 with cash

So, I suppose if you got the bundle, you would, in a way, be getting a discounted headset, although you could probably get close to 20-25 here though cash, so there isnt really a need to bother.
