1) Direct Request (DR) Services - The service that started it all, our Direct Request (DR) Service allows you to buy just about anything you want from the USA and have us order it and ship it directly to you. This is perfect for those of you who are unable to buy from USA merchants that will not ship to Canada directly or who do not accept Canadian/International credit cards. We charge $2.00 per item ordered plus shipping. Additional fees apply for items weighing more than 5 pounds shipped or more than $150 USD in value. Our online form will calculate everything for you automatically and there's no obligation to buy anything until you check out with Paypal. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about our services.

2) Package Forwarding (PF) Services, Address & Rates - [PREMIUM SERVICE] If you want to order the items yourself, you can! You can order from any website that ships to the USA. Ship the items to our secure UPS mail box and we will repackage them and ship them to you in Canada (or any other country for that matter). Typical fees apply for this service as usual and you pay only $1.00 per package received at our mail location. Quick, easy and GREAT for limited-time sales when the Direct Request option may not be quick enough. Please note we cannot ship: meat, cigarettes or other nicotine items (including electronic cigarettes and their accessories), alcohol, weapons or gun accessories (including paintball/airsoft), pornographic materials, toxic chemicals (including several cleaning liquids), fertilizer or any items that are illegal to ship internationally. Also, any items containing NI-CD or LI-Ion Batteries can no longer be shipped via USPS (Laptops, cell phones, handheld game systems, etc.) and must be shipped via UPS instead. Service Charges (Free Members):

GFC Charges $2.00 per item forwarded for standard or "Free" Members. Please note that an item in this case refers to each item within the packages you ship to us. So if you were to order say 2 DVD Movies, an Umbrella and a Towel, this would count as 4 items total. Items that are sold in "Lots" such as multiple baseball cards will be counted as one item, subject to our discretion. Also, UPS Charges me to pick up the packages, so there will be an additional charge of $1.00 per package received. I will add into the invoice for you when I get your iitems in.

For larger orders, an extra $5.00 USD surcharge is added for each 5 pounds your package weighs OR per $150 in value of their total contents (example: a 5 pound package would cost an additional $5.00 USD, a 10 pound package would cost an additional $10.00 USD OR a $150 item (or group of items totaling $150 or more) would have an additional $5.00 USD charged, a $300 group of items would have an additional $10.00 USD charged). Please note that this will be either a weight or cost surcharge and not both, but the greater of the two will be what is charged. An item weighing 14 pounds will still only be $10 added as it didn't yet reach the 15 pound mark. This will be shown on your invoice and will be clearly explained. In the near future, this service charge will be automatically calculated for package forwarding items the way it is currently automatically calculated on our Direct Request 2.0 system.

For any items over 25 pounds, we'll have to manually invoice you.

On Hold & Unclaimed Merchandise:

GFC allows you to send items to our secure UPS Package Forwarding address (listed above). After you order your items it is your responsibility to properly fill out our Package Forwarding (PF) Form on our website located here: http://www.gamesforcanada.com/package-forwarding.php . Once you do this, we will be notified of the items you have ordered and you will pre-pay the shipping/service charges up front for us to process and re-ship them to you.

The first 30 days are free to hold all Package Forwarding items.This is plenty of time for you to successfully order from the various stores that you want and submit our PF form to notify us. This also allows for adequate time for you to request us to combine items into a single package.

After 30 days, there will be a $5.00 USD charge per ITEM per week (flat rate fee) until the payment has been paid in full. Since you are pre-paying for the item costs, you will be responsible for both shipping to your country, our GFC Service Charges and any processing fees associated with the transaction.

After 90 days, GFC will not be responsible for unclaimed or missing merchandise sent to us at our Package Forwarding address. We suggest that you fully insure all orders sent to our address in case of loss or damage as we will not be responsible for missing or damaged goods.

As you know I'm shutting down GFC tomorrow sometime in the afternoon so from 06/03 - 06/08 I'll be doing nothing but processing existing orders and shipping out DR's and PF's. After the 8th I'll be down in Maryland until the 13th so I'll be relaxing and catching up on some coding on my down time.

Okay guys, I'm going to bed in just a few minutes. Keep this in mind: I will set up some links on the GFC site even when the service is in TSD (Total Shut Down) Mode. This will allow you to check GYROS updates, contact me via Email if you need to and such. The rest of the site will be down. If you have any questions feel free to ask, but if your question is "Has my package shipped yet" please just be patient as I will be doing nothing but shipping packages the next week. Lost Planet 2 shipped along with the other 2 games that were shipped out on week 1, and apparently arrived with the, It makes complete sense since they also had the same release dates, and the other batches for weeks 2 and 3 worked identically. If you really don't have the game, which should have arrived at your home about 2 weeks ago,, then unfortunately, something is really wrong.

I believe you have my gamestop.com account details but I'll send them again, along with the USPS tracking number (which is available through the GS order history but I'll in include it anyways) so that you may see for yourself and take whatever steps you think are necessary - all I know is that that it should definitely have been delivered.

Good to hear you've received the wine coolers though, and thank you for the info on how you process your orders. I always figured it'd be more streamlined to process o them in the order that you RECEIVE packages, rather than opening everything up and trying to figure out who placed their order first. In fact, because of this assumption I've often placed a PF order with you up to two weeks after placing the initial order with the vendor - though never waiting until AFTER it's been delivered - because I never thought it would have made a difference heh
 
Hey Goomba, just would like you to know that I just sent payment. Sorry it took so long but I was off by like 20 cents (which made me rage lol).
 
Hibernation sounds a little too long term for me :) Total Shut Down is scary sounding but at least it's only temporary. And besides it's better than "Goomba's Breakdown Mode" as that implies I'm having a nervous breakdown lol. So yeah, TSD it is =)

Thanks Goomba for the update on the copies of Super Mario Galaxy 2. I still am not that hyped to play it -_-. I don't know why but I still don't think it will surpass the original Super Mario Galaxy.
 
I am honestly thinking that the "Package Forwarding" system was the biggest issue in terms of the Backlog that we amassed. I didn't expect it to quickly become the most popular feature on the site, and what really put it over the edge was the fact that almost nobody pre-paid the fees and then once I received the items they wanted me to return them, replace them, or wrote me letters asking why I hadn't shipped (when they hadn't paid). Obviously this doesn't pertain to most of you guys as you know what's going on, but a ton of new customers coming in, not knowing what to do made it really tricky.

I'm thinking on the new site I may re-launch with only the Direct Request service and then work out a better method for the Package Forwarding, so that I have full control over orders and require pre-payment before people can request things again. That seems to be the only way to control it. If I'm able to have people pre-pay then I'll do PF orders. My only concern is they'll still continue to under-estimate shipping and then be upset when they find out how much the shipping actually costs.

So, in the middle of my sleep, I had a dream about Goomba and why he would possibly want to go into Total Shut Down mode. Well, in the context of my dream, he had a mansion and slept on a giant pile of money. For whatever reason, he invited me to dinner at his mansion. Well, pretty much the jist of it was that I ran out of the mansion screaming at the end of the day. With all the slave labor (or labor of love as Goomb considers it), he lost his nuts.

Well to be perfectly honest I was a bit surprised by the shipping charges at first too (although with the $20 gift card I got from Amazon for my two Wii orders it cancels out the shipping so it still ends up being cheaper for both games). My suggestion would be to maybe have a page before the "Package Forwarding" that has a list of the fees that are always charged i.e. labor etc.

I realize that you send a lot of different items and such so you cannot really provide an exact estimate but maybe do something such as that. Also have your email address so people may email you for a shipping estimate. To be honest your old shipping estimate list I found was kind of confusing. Also as said before it didn't list the labor charges etc.

My second suggestion may produce more work but maybe have an account system with feedback kind of. For example you must have made 5 Direct Request Orders before being able to do Package Forwarding so you know that you can trust the buyer (the person who ordered) to actually pay for them item via Package Forwarding.

It is hard to actually keep track of what people are ordering and that when someone does a Package Forward through a site i.e. Amazon.com that the order has been made via a 3rd party site so it may already be on its way. Then you are stuck with the item and the person isn't happy with the shipping charge you are stuck with the item. It causes a lot of hassle which is understandable.

Another suggestion is maybe making a kind of video tutorial of a mock up order via Direct Request or Package Forwarding on how the system works.

These are just a few helpful tips that may make it a bit easier for you in the future. I hope this information helps you in the future. Thank you again for your service Goomba.

I know you are doing your best trying to ship everything out, but you told Myv that most of the shipping soon items have already been shipped about a week ago.

But checking the GYROS page, it still says shipping soon for #1226 / 223000091 and #1229 / 2115528595.

Just wondering if the items have been shipped or if you even received them yet?

I received the Laptop pen thingy today, haven't tried it out yet, but thanks. Still a bit concerned about Lost Planet 2 though, don't know if you've looked into it at all or read the email I sent with all the pertinent information.

As far as package forwarding, I hope you can keep it open to old trusted users of the service. I've done more PFs than I can remember, usually I take advantage of really time-sensitive deals (Amazon Goldbox, Woot, etc) so a lot of my usefulness comes from the PF feature in the first place :)
 
And as far as shipping soon items... you'll get them when you get them :) The incessant questions only slow Goomba down and GYROS isn't real-time. For that matter, neither is USPS lol. The last two things I received still stay that "Electronic shipping info has been received" but that they haven't even received the package yet, let alone delivered it! :D

And I'm pretty sure he doesn't go to the post office every single day either. It may mean a wait of an extra few days but it's horribly inefficient and again, just slows down Goomba's package processing :)

Yes the coupon is unfortunately restrictive (and here I thought they were trying to compete with Amazon by introducing them... they should work in the same way... I'd love the coupons I got to be stackable!) but the 25% off deal (that's $15 off a $60 game IMMEDIATELY) on top of it made it an absolute winner anyways, even WITHOUT a $10 coupon. With the coupon added, it's pretty fantastic, the only disadvantage is that it takes longer without Amazon Prime.

As far as the number of coupons.... not all games got coupons so that might why you've seen only one per order. Among the 8 games in my single order I received 3 $10 coupons, 4 online in-game bonus vouchers, 1 (or maybe 2) hard-copy bonus vouchers included with the game itself, and a collectible item to boot.
 
If you guys want, I can shut down GYROS temporarily and just update you individually. I get a lot of "GYROS isn't right" messages. That's because as I mentioned I'm updating things and have a ton of orders to get out by Monday. The post office is closed Sundays so I have to do it all today and Saturday. It's absolutely dizzying how much there is to do. I will try to update the list tonight when I'm back home. Thanks :) I understand your confusion and frustration, I'm just letting you know the more time I actually process and pack items the more items will get shipped out ^_^
 
Also, I will be focusing most on items that have been pre-paid and will try to invoice as many PF orders as I can. Here's what I'm thinking:

1) After this weekend I will have had most items shipped out and most PF's invoiced.
2) I will shut down everything the way it is as I work on the plans for the new site revisions.
3) When the site re-opens, Package Forwarding will not be available initially and we'll return to a Direct Request only system that requires prepayment. Unlike the current system it will not send me your information until you commit to buy the items you requested.
4) Service Charges will be treated separately as you will be able to store these in your account on GFC. This will allow me to run service charge promotions, sell them at a discount, etc. Service Charges will not be refundable though once you commit to an item. I've lost too much time and money with people asking me to buy things, then return them and spend hours on these orders and make nothing for it. Simply put, if you want an item and pay the service charge, if you change your mind later I can still help you return the items in most cases, but we'll keep the service charge.

More on these things once the new site opens up. I'm going to work as hard as I can to get as much as possible done before then. Thanks :)

Just letting you know I'm back from work now and am working on orders again. Also, I'm going to be looking into the new "Square Up" service offered from www.squareup.com. In case you don't know it's another way to take money from Credit Cards (you swipe the physical card on your iPhone using a square dongle, or can enter the numbers in manually into the device. This won't help you guys much as you can't exactly swipe your credit card, but I'll be using it a sort of receipt system when you send me money to help better create a paper trail of who sent me what. Also, the new site updates will allow you to see your order history with us as well. Thanks!

I checked your tracking and it says that it was delivered, but it wasn't delivered to me so I'm going to have to call Gamestop tomorrow and see if they can send a replacement copy (it does happen occasionally when they will deliver it to the wrong house or box, the Post Office isn't perfect and companies know that). Would you prefer to call with it being under your account or would you rather I do it since it was to my credit card. Please let me know. Thanks!

Yes, invoices would be great :) I've been pretty certain what credit I DID have left isn't nearly sufficient, but at this point and with so many orders in the past while I'm a bit in the dark of what's owed on what hasn't been invoiced yet.

I'm actually surprised I was so far off on the Target order though, I'm pretty sure I didn't think the package would be so light. I think I meant 6.5, as I usually use Amazon for weight estimates which has a single item at 3.3lbs. In fact I thought I had requested the two items be shipped separately, specifically to keep the packages under 5 pounds (although thinking back I might have just said "screw it" and changed my mind), so either I made a big typo or I'm mistaken about everything I just said :) I had probably just for some reason subtracted the 5 from the 6.5 for god knows why... don't worry though, I was prepared to pay a lot for shipping for that, though with all my service fee credit you should really just ship it as a single package - I wasn't impressed with the "priority" shipping at the time but it's been fine since. I sure hope that 8 pounds is combined though! :lol:

As for the Gamestop order, I would appreciate it if you could handle it. Not because I'm lazy, and not because the call would cost me anything, but just because you have all the facts and know all the particulars of the situation (the setup of your residence, maybe even likely how the error was made, etc.) In fact, nothing on "my" account has anything to do with me except the email and my Edge card. I know what you mean though, I get shipped neighbors' items all the time (or sometimes people with the same house number in a town 50 miles away!) but I always go out of my way to either hand-deliver the person's package or, in the latter case, just give it back to the post office to correct. Funny how it never seems to work in reverse for me :( If there's any information you need from me that you don't already have (I can't imagine what), feel free to ask. Don't hesitate to dock me $5 in service fees if it's a lot of trouble though

emjaymj, in the fine tradition of my "audit" I'm going to use you as a sort of test subject for my new system I'm developing (if you don't mind). It's basically a detailed spreadsheet view of all your orders which will be the basis for the new site I'm doing. I'm going to include ALL of your orders and we can finally once and for all have a definitive list of what's what. This will be ready in the next half an hour or so.

Yes, the 8 pounds was for the two combined. So no worries about that. ^_^ It's not a problem. I'll call Gamestop tomorrow for you and see if we can get them to send another copy since that one is nowhere to be found. I have had a neighbor ONE time come to my house and say that they received my package, but I've done it in return for my neighbors countless times. Oh to have my own house one day :) I'm going to continue with your history list. Thanks!

I was worried that they'd use the "delivered" tracking info to make a case that it's not their problem

Another reminder: I'm working at my day job tomorrow, spending the rest of the day shipping/invoicing and then from the 8th-13th I will not be shipping out packages. Once I get back I will resume with any new orders that are here and I will be doing a bit of scripting before the site re-opens. I will get as many orders out as possible and most will be shipped in the order they appear on GYROS.

GYROS is not 100% updated at this point as there are packages I have packed/shipped that are not yet reflected on there. I will have it updated before I leave :) Thanks!

haha, sadly yes it's come up a few times. It's my fault thought for not realizing how popular the Package Forwarding would become and how complex a few orders would make it. It's sort of a domino effect really. By tweaking the system though during my down period it'll make life a lot easier for everyone. When I re-open the site I'm going to focus almost totally on DR orders and start selling things on eBay to make more room. Once I have a lot of office space back then I will re-open the PF service.

In the meantime I'm going to keep packing. I will update GYROS tonight around midnight or so guys, so please if you have a question about your order...save it till then :) Thanks!
 
Good work as always Goomba! It might be useful (and would save you from having to answer the question 24/7) if you specified when GYROS was last updated on the site.
