that is exactly why we have to do it. we have to have boxes on the floor so people can see what games we have, and we obviously cant have games in the boxes on the floor. its either this or gamestop has to be like best buy or target and have glass cases or plastic cases on all the games.
Or being the big corporation they are, they could order up some plain DVD cases for the entire chain and get the 'display only' coverarts(with no UPC barcodes on them) like friggin' Toys R' Us does and not HAVE to gut games.
But that might cost them .02 per case and maybe a penny per coverart and God forbid their profits go down at all to save some games from being fingerprinted, scratched and smudged by some clumsy employees while stuffing them into those sleeves and into the drawers they put all the disc only shit they have for sale.
At "your" Gamestop maybe. Not at most others however. There have been many times I have asked to buy a new game (gutted) and they couldn't even find the game in the drawer. Most logical reason: it's being "rented" by an employee.
Actually, I would much prefer for Gamestop to follow Target's lead. Line the walls with glass cases and put all the games behind them. It's not economically feasible though so GS wouldn't even consider doing it.
But then how am I going to get the scoop from the oh so knowledgeable employees who are still totally
in' clueless when I ask them about the newest games? Oh wait. I'm not supposed to ask tons of questions, I'm just supposed to pre-order 30
in' games that they rave about and claim I won't be able to find anywhere unless I pre-order.
The day Gamestop actually does something(like limiting trade-ins from shleps who bring in disc only games that're less than a week old)good for those consumers(many of us CAGs)who actually give a shit what their stuff looks like or cares about customers other than soccer moms and Joe Football is the day of the apocalypse.
