Gamestop Dumping GBA Games - The Reckoning Begins April 18, B2G2 (17th for PUR Pro)
The non-eco DS cases have an upper slot for GBA games. I was just wondering if I should put my ~40 newly acquired GBA games in DS cases, but the GBA slots are a pain to use.
I found a DS game I wanted at one stop on my B2G2 run and the guy at the counter had the worst time trying to get a GBA cart to fit into one of those cases. I asked him to just let me do it if he was having a problem, but instead of giving it up he not only jammed a GBA cart into that slot but proceeded to take EVERY GBA game I had just purchased, threw them all into whatever empty space he could find in that DS case, and repeatedly tried to snap the case shut even though it was way too full and sprang back open whenever he tried to close it. When he couldn't snap it shut, he just threw it into my bag with the rest of my stuff. Fortunately nothing was damaged

Lol, the only times I've tried to use the GBA slot, I could see the gap between the two halves of the cart grow larger as I tried to remove the cart from the case... It really should have been designed a little bit better.

If you plan on long-term storage (read: never ever removing it again), it's viable.
Wow, I never noticed this until you said something. So that means with GBA games you could get the manuals for cart-onlys and go with some cover project print-outs instead of original boxes?
I use the coverproject covers in a DS case for many of my GB, GBC, and GBA games. I love how they look. a few points to pass on about using DS cases: if you have the manual, they are a little long to fit where the DS manual would normall fit. I solved this by using a dremel (others have used an exacto knife) to cut the solid piece that is just above the manual area. Cutting that strip out allows the manual to fit nicely. I also use the dremel to cut away the bottom of the GBA slot, and the top half of the outline where the DS game goes. This allows original gameboy and gameboy color carts to fit as well (the two clips on either side are enough to hold it in place) You have to put it in upside down so the clips will fit on the thinner part of the cart.
One other caveat is that while the coverproject.net has an impressive collection of covers, they don't have them all, and I still have many games that there are not covers for. You can join their forums and request them, and if you have any original boxes that you can scan, the talented folks there can turn it into a custom cover. They also have tmeplates that you can use to make your own cover art too.

@JediKiller24: I just have a few gba games, so the coverproject looks like a good way to go if I don't pick them up CIB (assuming that loose manuals and ds cases will be easier to acquire).

@elessar123: I have a memory card storage case that did the gap-increasing thing on me once, you have to be careful how you remove them is all. I do like the concept of snapping in games like ammo clips though 8D

I know with this being CAG and all, this may not be a suitable option for some, but if you want brand new empty DS cases for storing GBA games, you can still order them from nintendo. They're $7 for 10, and I've ordered them in the past to use. (although I got lucky last weekend at a yardsale and found a lady that had 18 empty DS cases on a table and she gave them to me for free! That felt much more CAG-like :D guess it's just how many scuffs on the case you can live with)

so I went to a gamestop at a DC mall. no gba games :(

Though I was just there to check out the collection. I hate paying 9% tax. I'll have to check at a VA store instead where the tax is almost half the DC tax.

So a GBA game can fit in a DS case? How?Did u have to put something to hold it?

Anyway, here is what I got B2G2. Not sure if this was good choices, but wanted to build a GBA collection.

gunstar super heores
gekido
sigma star
final fight one
castlevania double pack
dbz goku double pack
contra 3
megaman collection, not sure if I want this. May exchange it. Any good games for $9.99 for Gamecube or PS2?

I was unable to find pinball of the dead and ninja five-o.
Anyone play Kingdom hearts? I was thinking about picking it up, but not sure what is better. The PS2 or GBA? Never played it before.

Open a DS case....those rectangular slots above the DS game are designed to hold GBA games they just snap right in. I'm hearing some new eco friendly cases may be leaving that feature out? but I haven't bought any new DS games in awhile. And with a dremel or exacto knife, you can alter then to hold original gameboy and gameboy color games too.

Putting the Gameboy games in DS cases? I think I have the eco cases

all my cases for ds games have the gba slot. the latest game I bought for ds was pokemon diamond. lolz. Doubt that the 3ds game cases will have the gba slot.

Yard sale would be how I'd go

im printing stuff from cover project now for the 4 games i got at GS

Metriod zero mission
castlevania, circle of the moon
Breath of fire 2
final fantast 1 &2 dawn of souls

will be going to my lowball
I'm gonna head out to my local GS today. HOPEFULLY they have gba games.
FYI- If u dont see Gamecube games, they are keeping it in the back. Just ask for a list. (This also for GBA and PS2)

So I tested each game on the GBA SP. Is it normal??? When turning on the game system, The Gameboy logo comes on, but no nintendo on the bottom or sometimes in black? Once I took it out and put it back in, the logos come on fine. Gekido plays fine, but sometimes after turn on, it goes to black screen causing to reset. Anyone know if it's a bootleg or not?

gunstar super heroes (Works fine)

gekido (Works, but sometimes black screen. Maybe dirty???)

sigma star saga (feels funny when putting it in the GBA SP. Works)

final fight one (Works)

castlevania double pack (works)

dbz goku double pack (works)

contra 3 (Works, but looks like bootleg. There is no Nintendo or numbers inside the bottom of the chip. Is this bootleg)

Kingdom Hearts (Works)

Im thinking of returning back Kingdom hearts and Contra 3.
Anyone know any other games for GBA?
Is the above list a alright GBA collection? I tried to get Astro Boy and Ninja Five-O, but none in the area.
Trying blowing in it...sometimes they can be a bit dusty. I've had it happen but after I blew it or just dusted it out, it worked fine.
Ewww. Use alcohol and a q-tip instead.

Also sometimes the contacts don't mesh right if your hands are pressing on the cartridge while playing. I like the SPs screen better than the regular GBA but it's still a little cramped for man-hands.

Wish I did that when I went in :(

My store had gba games, but they didn't have pokemon emerald, megaman battle network 6, or FF tactics

O well, I'll try again later today, maybe at a different store

Especially with GBA games, be sure to ask if they any besides the ones in the case. Most stores have so many that they have boxes behind the counters or in the back room.

As far as the bootlegs, I've been seeing numerous carts with sketchy labels. Blurry or odd printing, etc. I can't imagine why GS would have accepted them in trade. Thanks to the tips on here I went through and verified the games I did buy.

I didn't think they'd bootleg Warioland since it's not really "Mario", but sure enough... Thankfully another GS had a legit one.

If they want to get rid of these quick, they don't seem to be pushing GBA game sales though. No display, or B2G2 signs at some GSs. All you hear is the recorded in-store announcement about no longer taking in GBA games for trade.

Maybe they'll eventually consolidate them to the warehouse for online sale near the end. Hate seeing the no stock within 100 miles notice.

Picked up some decent games for cheap. Missed some online when it was the general B2G1 week before. Keep thinking I want to get more since these are going extinct, but then I stare at the shrunken screen on the DS lite and kind of reconsider.

If only the Mario games would drop in price. I've been fortunate to find any Pokemon game I want in the pawn shops for 10 at most but those Mario games still being priced at 20 is a wee bit annoying.

Yeah, I know GBA is old, but there is still some good games. Just ask to see a list. They have it in bins behind the counter or back room. Here is what I got during B2G2, but not sure if this is a good selection:

Got from B2G2 at Gamestop:

Final Fight One
Star Saga
Gekido
Gunstar Super
Castle Double Pack ( 2 games in 1?)
DBZ Goku Double Pack (2 games in 1)
Kingdom Hearts Chain
Contra (The only one bootleg. Will exchange for something else)

A bit off topic, Anyone have any suggestions on GBA/ Gamecube games that is $9.99? Was thinking about returning Contra and kingdom Hearts for something else. I never played kingdom hearts, but looks better on PS2.
I do have for GBA Fire Emblem, Zelda Link 2, Zelda Link to Past, Final Fantasy IV,etc. Was thinking about Final Fantasy Dawn Souls, but believe they also release on PSP. I was thinking Super Robot Tasien or Summon Night 1 or 2. I was also thinking Metroid Zero, but I have Metroid tri for the wii. Anyone play those games? Any recommendation? Cant think of any games to replace besides Mega man collection

That's why I'll never get rid of my Gamecube and Game Boy Player. It will be the DS games that will be the bane of my eyesight even with the DSi XL.

I used my Game Boy Player all the time in the Gamecube era, but I tried mine out for the first time in a few years a couple of months back and the un-removable border and "press Z for menu" icon bug the hell out of me now >_< I stick to my SP and Micro and am pretty satisfied between the two, though the temptation to play my GBA stuff on TV is always there. Beyond my newfound problems with the Game Boy Player, it's a shame that GBA games just look so awful on an HDTV because my CRT has been in storage for a while.

Out of the five GS's in my area the GBA selection is very slim....
Still I picked up Super Mario Advance 4 and FF IV.

I asked a GS employee about the fate of the GBA games. Told me that he thinks they are going to get shipped back to the HQ at the end of the month

And DAMN IT, I found pokemon emerald for 25 yesterday at my GS >_< The only game out of my GBA wish list they had in stock

When does the B2G2 end?

I think this will be my final haul:
Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
Zelda Four Swords
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem The Backed Stones
Golden Sun 2 x2(they mislabeled the golden sun 2 as golden sun)

Grabbed Advance Wars, Advance Wars 2, Fire Emblem Sacred Stones, and Super Mario World. Only a few left that I am looking for. (Pinball of the Dead and Pocky and Rocky have easily been the toughest games to find on GBA for me.)

saw pinabll of the dead last week but passed. a shame.
Today's the last day for B2G2. Nice haul, especially Ninja Five-O and Tactics Ogre!
Metroid Fusion, or Metroid Zero Mission would be good to swap out for $9.99 to have a portable version. It's not like you can carry your wii around to play. Pokemon Pinball (9.99) has infinite pick up and play going for it. I really like the game and the nice graphics and cheery music. Might also look for Donkey Country 3 as another 9.99 option as well as the Sonic Advance + Sonic Pinball Party double pack.

Here's what I picked up:

Metroid Fusion
Megaman & Bass
Donkey Kong Country 2
F-Zero GP Legend
Konami Collector's Arcade Advanced
Crash Bandicoot N-Tranced
Tom and Jerry in Infurnal Escape (Tom going to Hell was burned into kid memory.)
Pac Man Pinball
Pokemon Pinball Ruby & Sapphire

Too bad I was never quite motivated enough to ask for a list since they were swamped with long lines. Besides, the online stock pre-search made it easier to skip that step since I knew they didn't have the games I had in mind anyway.

I stopped myself from making a last minute online order for B2G2. Hope the offer comes back again though. Funny thing is I hadn't touched any of my GBA games for years until this sale came up. Haha.

I have sonic Mega Collection already. I decided on Pokemon Pinball because Pinball be a good game in a collection. I was thinking about metroid pinball for ds, but i dont think i will like the pinball on both top and bottom screen.

On a side note,
I saw 3 almost mint cases of Zelda Wind, Zelda master quest.
They said that they couldnt give me the case or the cover art/booklet.
Can i purchase the games and then return it at another gamestop with no problems? I was thinking about using cash.
Good choice on Pokemon Pinball.

Just to clarify, Sonic Pinball Party is a GBA pinball game that is totally different from Sonic Spinball from the Mega Collection on the consoles. The one I mentioned is the GBA double pack that has Sonic Advance and Sonic Pinball Party.

You can also get Sonic Pinball Party on its own for 5.99 if you wanted another pinball game in addition to Pokemon.
I'm trying to find the stand alone Sonic Pinball Party cart, but have had no luck around here. I've got the double pack, but there are only 2 tables on the two pack version, where as there are 3 on the stand alone. (I think the 3rd is a Samba De Amigo table)

I got

Pokemon Emerald
Megaman BN 6 Falzar
Megaman BN 4 Blue Moon
FF tactics

I'm gonna go back to GS later this week to switch out BN4 cuz it doesn't work, and tactics since its not as good as the ds tactics IMO

You are allowed to switch games, it just has to be within 7 days

Same game. The Samba de Amigo table is an unlockable. Beat Knuckles in story mode with a 10,000,000 score, and it becomes available. No need to buy the stand alone.

Thamks! Pokemon pinball looks awesome. I was thinking about Sonic pinball, but Pokemon looks better. I wish they didnt make Metroid Pinball with both screens or I would have got it in a heartbeat.

Also, I saw Metroid Fusion with a $4.99 tag. Does Gamestop have to honor it? I know that Gamestop online says the game price is $9.99.

A bit off topic, but wanted to know if I pay in cash, can I return games at any Gamestop with no issues. (No ID, etc.)

The reason Im asking cause I wanted to get 3 games cases, but I already got game disc only earlier from the B2G2. The Gamestop being a dick and said couldnt give it to me unless I buy it.

Stores and online don't have to match prices. If you saw it tagged at 4.99, then that's what you should pay. Can't hurt to have them take it out of the case to see what rings up.

And at some point, you should also get Sonic Pinball if you can. It's actually more pinball-like. Lots of stuff going at once on the tables, and there's multi-ball. I finally found it at home after some searching today and it's just as enjoyable as Pokemon pinball.

Metroid Pinball is more like a 3rd person shooter using Samus as the ball to hit moving creature targets. There are missions that need to be completed within time limits. It's closer to aspects of Pinball of the Dead where you aim the ball at zombies to mow them down. One thing it does have is rumble pack support. That's a nice change.

The stand alone version was a Target exclusive and had a very low print run.

Can anyone make any predictions as to when the 75% off sale will start? The only one I picked up for B2G2 was Breath of Fire II as I'm hoping to get better deals with that discount.
So is B2G2 for GBA games still going on? I'm still waiting for the Pokemon games to drop in price.
It's dead. Dont think Pokemon games are dropping anytime soon.

FYI- Gamestop is no longer carrying DS Lite.
