4/5 Update

Sale is live!

:wii: Wii

* Note: Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection is not part of this sale. It was apparently a mistake, one that has not been fixed. It's still listed on the site, but no discount has been applied to it.

4/4 Update

Thanks to (radio edit) for supplying us with the lists and prices. He also confirmed that the free wired 360 guitar promotion IS still valid with the purchase of Guitar Hero Aerosmith!

The lists were previously posted on GameStop.com at the following address. More than likely, when the sale does go live, this is where we will find the pricing.

http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays09/

And here is a scan of the 10% off coupon that was in this month's Game Informer. Thanks to xycury! Coupon is in the spoiler.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Is this sale for new or used games?
A: New games only. In the past, there have been B2G1 sales on used items associated with Game Days, so keep an eye out for that.

Q: Will all of the games be "gutted" or opened?
A: YMMV. Some stores I have been to basically open everything up and dump it into the bins. Others will only open a few copies and leave the rest behind the counter. If you want a sealed copy, make sure to ask.

Q: Is this in-store or online?
A: Both.

Q: Will the store accept a print-out of the 10% off coupon?
A: YMMV.

Q: Does the coupon work for one item or the whole purchase?
A: It works on all Game Days items bought in a purchase.

Q: Is there going to be a B2G1 on used games and accessories?
A: As previously mentioned, there could possibly be one later, but as of now, nope. There is only a B2G1 on used PS2 games when you buy a new PS2 system.
OK so a movie comes out on Friday Night It runs through the machine but you don't see it till Sunday. Since you didn't see the first print and it has now been a worn print do you get a discount seeing a new movie. Thats the same as a gutted game.
Theaters don't claim that when you pay for a ticket you're watching a fresh reel. Claiming that a game is new, however, is synonymous with claiming that it's sealed. It's the only way to ensure that it's unquestionably new.
Let's try a comparison that does work. Go buy a game from Walmart. Open it to watch the colors dance off the back of the disc because you have some sort of obsession with doing so. Now take the disc back to Walmart for a full cash refund. If they complain, just tell them you gutted it... but didn't play it.

Most forms of entertainment media have a rental system (movies, music, games). Retailers aren't interested in renting out free games/movies where you can technically get the most utility out of it for the 30 day (90 day?) return period.

This is why you can't return your open DVD to Walmart, Target, Kmart, or any other vendor and get a full refund. You opened it, even if you didn't use it. It now has less value than when you purchased it from the floor. It's not in resaleable "new" condition, and therefore the best they can offer you is a replacement in the case of it being defective. Clothes and other merchandise don't have this problem. They're in resaleable condition if there's no noticeable damage, and borrowing a shirt for a week has much less utility than borrowing a game for a week.
:applause:

Holy crap. That's an awesome argument. Seriously.

If it's OK for GS to sell opened games as "new" even though it may not have been played, then why can't I return an open copy even if I didn't play it??? It's the same thing.

I keep checking this thread hoping that someone has posted a relevant update with prices and all I get is this useless argument about gutted games.

Gamestop guts these games. We get it. You are not going to change that by arguing with anyone here. If you don't like it, don't buy the games. It's pretty simple.

You want to make a change? http://www.tellgamestop.com

Believe it or not companies do listen to customer feedback if they hear enough voices.
Before you try to act like a comedian
 Calm down there, Johnny. Trying to lighten the mood. This thread now has pages and pages of complaining about the opened games. This should all be in the discussion forum.

for christ sake people. who gives rats ass about gutted games or un gutted games. i swear to god this place is worse then high school. do what you want by the game gutted or not but dont make the rest of us sit hear and read threw 150 posts of te same sh*t. i personaly never buy new from anywhere, unless on clearance. so to that i dont give a flying pig if it hs plastic or no plastic. as long as its not dipped in pig crap i could care less.

and before anybody says anything about my earlier post , i never got to finsh typing cuz my computer locked up.

so i ask for all of cag . make a new damn thread in deals and bitch about gut or no gut there.

the gamestop practice of gutting games isn't so much a new topic as it is, I think, a must-have in all gamestop related threads-I think I might have wrote something along the lines of this a few good months back-I think we can all agree that none of us would prefer getting a gutted copy over a new copy, and probably most of us would rather have a bona-fide new copy, but, and there is always that but, gamestop probably ain't going to do a thing about it with all the posts on this thread (and I think we all know that even their new game isn't so much new as what we've talked about in the most recent posts-GS do let their employees take out games that are gutted to play-in that case, how can we perceive it as new-I mean, you can't even look at it as new in any sense of the word-whether physically (as in sealed) or a product guarantee perspective (as in being treated as a new item when, as so many of us said, we want return or exchange, etc) that's my 2 cents

I agree with everyone else...LOL
and i think youre trying to hard

Wow this is some classic sh!t. Believe it or not, there are some people checkin in on the thread looking for actual talk on the sale....
Should've asked this before, but can you go shop at Midnight if you're not buying a DSi and for how long? Or what's best time to go?
I sincerely doubt that. All other midnight launches involve standing outside while they fix stuff up, getting a ticket, moving into the store a small group at a time at midnight, purchasing your item (that they have waiting) and leaving before they let the next group in.

not how mine does it,

i brought in 6 games and an old 360 HDD (broken) to trade in during the Gears of War 2 midnight release party, and I also was able to buy a 13 month gold subscription along with gears 2 and i think i got another game, cant remember tho.
So what's the deal with getting a copy of a game beforehand and then taking it back for the discount. I wanna get some for myself and some for gifts and I'm not a real fan of the gut...
Sorry to disrupt the arguing about gutted games (worked at GS, wasn't a big fan of the practice but most customers didn't seem to mind), but can someone answer my question (above)?

But a midnight release party is different from a midnight release. I didn't open the PDF. If it involves a launch party, then I'm sure you could make purchases, but for a simple midnight release, they pretty much want you gone as soon as possible (as the employees don't really want to stick around while you're there).

It was like this for Metal Gear Solid 4 launch and GTA4 launch, from what I remember. Gears actually had a sponsored launch party with giveaways, though. Not sure if the DSi is having one.

AFAIK highly YMMV because regular games not purchased for gamedays by GS are to be sold at regular prices before and AFTER gamedays is over.

oh well the gears of war 2 one was the only one i've been to so idk for sure how it works but just stating how my experience was with it.
So have any GS employees heard anything about prices? Or when the prices will be released?
hopefully soon. doubt before friday/saturday

So, is it confirmed that GS will B2G1 During the gameday sale, and how long does that sale last?
I get paid every two weeks and the week the sale no checkie...

No confirmation and it's unlikely since it hasn't been announced at all.

Pure speculation at this point. And I doubt GS will run a B2G1 during the whole 2 month time that the sale is likely on.
According to my friend who is a manager at gamestop there will be no B2G1 sell...only the 50% off sale
Yuck.

So anyone know if the GS employees will accept the online 10% printout or will they force us to have bought a copy of GI to apply it?

If you have an edge card, just go up to the register and say you never got that issue of GI in the mail and they should give you one, thats what I did and now I have 2 legit coupons :)

oh noo... thats bull-pooter

Seriously, it wasn't that long ago that B2G1 was done. It lasted for three days (and a few hours extra for those who had an RE5 midnight launch).

If you missed out, then it's all on you, honestly. :s

Agreed. This has worked for me every time I needed a coupon from the magazine.

I got in on it, but couldnt find all the games I was looking for. Considering the lousy quality of games in this sale, a B2G1 would have made this sale much better.

I think most of us want another to get some specific games we couldnt get last time, not necessarily that we missed it...

The guys at work just got back from the local Arizona Pavilions Gamestop and had this to report. They will not have the deal ready until Sunday morning. However, the list that was on the web site was not the complete list. Specifically they said more Xbox 360 games are on the list. Supposedly the guy at the store already had the list. Also no B1G1 deal.

Well, I hate to betray my friend (he told me to not to tell anyone I looked at the list) but I saw the list and prices . Phantasy Star Portable is 29.99-- Final Fantasy I and II for PSP are 9.99 a piece. So is Final Fantasy Tactis for PSP, also. Chrono for DS is 29.99. Exit is 9.99. I would say nearly every "big" title was 25% or 33% off. If anyone wants specifics, I can try to remember what I saw. The 360 list looked hella weak, though. He also said midnight release stores were given permission to start selling Game Day stuff during the launch.

And if my friend is reading this, sorry X_X

I'm hoping Speed Racer for the Wii is 10 bucks. It was an incredible solid game. If you're a fan of the F Zero series it's definitely worth picking up.

This virtually guarantees Valkyria Chronicles will be $39.99 or above.

At least I'll still be picking up FF I (PSP) for $9.99.

I didn't look at it since I already had it... but I imagine it wasn't 50% off. The list was pretty disappointing. Like, I really wanted Metal Slug 7. But that's only going to be 14.99. If I wait until there's a 20% coupon, I can get it used for 12.60, so what's the point, unless you want the game immediately? (Backlog takes care of pretty much any desperation I have for wanting a game)
