GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]

Ok, I'm confused. I was just going to order Borderlands and Fallout GOTY Edition, both used and the CAG16 & Edge discount have been applied along with the Gamer Day Sales, so both games come out to be very good price ($66.81 total with free shipping).

But I see people talking about:

1 - getting a new sealed copy of a game (even if you ordered a used one?)
2- prices on games in the local store will drop after this sale is over this weekend?

I'm new to this sale and never really paid attention before this, so color me confused as to what I should do.

I also see that 25OFF will work but I'll have to order something else to get it over $100.

Ordered the following with 25OFF and 10AUTO:

clear.gif
SHADOW HEARTS: COVENANT

GHOST RECON: ADVANCED WARFIGHTER

KAMEO ELEMENTS OF POWER

NCAA FOOTBALL 08

NO MORE HEROES

BALDUR'S GATE: DARK ALLIANCE - USED

GOD OF WAR: COLLECTION

OKAMI

LITTLE BIG PLANET GAME OF THE YEAR

FORZA 2 AND MARVEL ALLIANCE BUNDLE

DRAGON QUEST VIII

MARIO KART - GAME ONLY
Games came yesterday, and ONLY Dragon Quest VIII survived the trip intact. There were plastic shards from cases falling out of the shipping box when I opened it. The cases for Okami and NCAA were both just 2 sheets of plastic with all 4 edges destroyed. Disks looked like the survived the trip except for two of them. Little Big Planet had a large crack in it, and God of War Collection's disk WAS IN TWO PIECES :shock:. My wife commented that it looked like a fat kid decided to play DDR on our package before they shipped it.

Hopefully the local GS will be easy with exchanges, or at least provide some backup cases.

Picked up Disgaea 3 sealed yesterday at an out of the way GS. Been looking for a non gutted copy for a while. An open game that a GS employee has played is not new when is this stupid policy going to stop. Rant over.
As for additional discounts, I'm hoping The House of the Dead games drop just a bit more.
Easily worth $29 for the content and gameplay--that game is mutha fucking awesome.

Dear god. That terrifies me. I've only ordered once from the site and the game came complete, however the package was thin as hell and offered zero protection.

Word of advice, GameStop: Learn to invest in BUBBLEWRAP.
Easily worth $29 for the content and gameplay--that game is mutha fucking awesome.
Oh I know. But my cheapass self can't help but want just a bit more off.

I recently ordered FFXIII and MLB 10 ($75 total shipped). Both came with cases and manuals and in perfect shape, no cracks or stickers. I don't think anything I've ordered from GS.com has been sent incomplete or in bad shape. I'm lucky i guess....:cool:

The game I had ordered was in perfect condition as well. Just the lack of protection within the package put me off, and after hearing a few horror stories earlier, I'm reluctant to order from them again.

There's really no excuse for there not being any bubblewrap within the envelopes. It's not like they're expensive.

Update on broken cases and discs.

Local GS had both LBP and GoW Collection in stock, so I got those exchanged. They provided replacement cases for everything else (only downside is that they don't stock white Wii cases, so all the Wii games are in PS2 cases. Anybody know a place to get cheap Wii cases???).

Since there were 12 games all together, they packaged it inside an elongated box and there was one of those long pieces of bubblewrap inside. However, it looked like somebody from the shipping company had probably put something super heavy on top of it, and no amount of bubblewrap was going to save it. Not much Gamestop could have done to prevent it, just one of the hazards of shipping anything with USPS.

That sounds like its your mail carrier with the issue and not GameStop. I am sure GameStop did not send all games broken and with shitty cases.

Hopefully the local GS will be easy with exchanges, or at least provide some backup cases.
hope you find them at your local store cause the online place will just take the games off line so they dont have to send replacements
The game I had ordered was in perfect condition as well. Just the lack of protection within the package put me off, and after hearing a few horror stories earlier, I'm reluctant to order from them again.

There's really no excuse for there not being any bubblewrap within the envelopes. It's not like they're expensive.
Ordered two new games on one order. One came from Kentucky, the other from Texas. The Texas game was in a flat brown mailer, no bubble wrap. The KY game was in a bubble mailer. Fortunately, both are in excellent condition. I agree that they should be consistent and use bubble mailers.

At least they weren't damaged re-shrinks like GoGamer.

Does anyone know from experience if you will still get the online $20 preorder gift cert for a game like super mario galaxy 2 if you use a 25% off coupon?
Does anyone know if they are going to do the "Final Days" clearance?
Considering we are in the final days with 1 day left, probably not.

Both Gamestop's I went to had almost no stock left besides the really shitty casual games nobody wants, so if everywhere is selling that good there is no reason to do one.
^^I might be wrong but I think the Final Days clearance used to start AFTER the projected sale end date.
I'm inclined to say that's true-- can anyone confirm? I'm really hoping they do it this year.
Does anyone know if they are going to do the "Final Days" clearance?
That's exactly what I came in to ask about, since I'd gladly pick up the two copies of Aion for PC my one buddies' bro-in-law said he'd want for $15 each, but $30 a pop ain't happenin'.

They were mismarked $49.99 the last time I was in my closest GS, so if they DO the clearance hopefully they'll last AND be good copies to boot.
Picked up Diablo Battle Chest at the local GS and put in a pre-order for Diablo 3 at the same time. W00t!
Diablo 1 does not work correctly in win 7 unless you add 4 lines to the registry and download a patch from windows update for windows. Sorry I am posting this from my phone I will post a link with instructions tomorrow

OK for those of you that purchased the Diablo Battle Chest here is the reg fix for the color corruption issue in diablo 1 in windows 7. Note for x64 you have install the latest Windows Compatibility pack off windows update first or the game wont run at all anyway. Sorry don't remember the KB##### for that part. Note this is the x64 fix but it can be easily modified to fix x32

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw\Compatibility\DiabloNew]
"Flags"=hex:00,08,00,00
"Name"="diablo.exe"
"ID"=hex:7c,89,fc,3a

Below are the instructions that can help you figure out how to fix other games like cnc, starcraft.... and instructions for the slight modification to fix under win 7 x32 plus a link to the original site I found the instructions on. I have bolded the parts to pay special attention to should you want to do this on another game.

http://forums.commandandconquer.com...323BBBFA1700324913D171AA6ABF942.015052#619423

This is an actual fix for the color issue, rather than the workarounds we've been forced to deal with so far. It's based on an identical fix for StarCraft by warlord_7. You need to be using Nyerguds's 1.06b r2 patch for this, if you're not, you'll need to update the ID field on your own. Open Notepad and paste whichever one of these corresponds to the version of Windows 7 you're running:

32-bit:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw\Compatibility\Command & Conquer Gold 1.06b r2]
"Flags"=hex:00,08,00,00
"Name"="C&C95.exe"
"ID"=hex:d5,83,dd,32

64-bit:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw\Compatibility\Command & Conquer Gold 1.06b r2]
"Flags"=hex:00,08,00,00
"Name"="C&C95.exe"
"ID"=hex:d5,83,dd,32

File -> Save, choose All Files from the save as type pulldown menu, and save it with the extension .reg. Double click on it, confirm that you want to add the key, and give C&C a try. The Westwood intro video may still have the wrong colors (this seems random, sometimes it's fine, usually it's not), but the game and the rest of the videos will be fine. If you have your wallpaper set to slideshow, you'll still get messed up colors when your wallpaper changes. This will last until the end of any video that was playing, but will only cause a brief flicker in the actual game.

If you need to update the ID for whatever reason (new version of the C&C95 patch, fix for Red Alert or another game), run the game and then check this registry key:

32-bit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw\MostRecentApplication
64-bit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw\MostRecentApplication
The ID in that key is four bytes. Reverse their order, and place them between commas like in the keys above. 32dd83d5 becomes d5,83,dd,32. Use that in place of the ID in the keys I posted, change the filename to the correct one for whatever game you are trying to run, and give the key a unique name.

(And for the record, no, I have no idea what that flag actually does or what others are available. I only got it from the StarCraft fix, which itself seems to have been based on existing SC fixes already in the registry. I've searched, but I can't find any information on these flags.) Anyone know if the 10AUTO and 25OFF still stack up. I can have both the coupons in the cart but it does not look like the 10AUTO takes the discount off anymore. Anyone get both to work still?

I have tried both, but it doesn't seem to stack anymore. I knew I should have bit last Sunday when they both were stacking.

Don't have the list on me, but the Final Clearance starts tomorrow (4/26) Nothing great on it, but there might be a few that someone will want. Most of the stuff I stickered tonight was in the 7.99~17.99 range with a few things more/less.

Only PC game on Final was Fallout Trilogy for $7.99

Any chance that AION for PC was on that list?:pray: I know a few people who would bite at $15 for a copy.

Neither Bayonetta or Aion were on there.

There are some that are not one the list below. This is just what I can remember from what what my store had in stock. Sorry, I don't remember prices with the exception of Fallout Trilogy and RE4.

Everyone's guess is probably as good as mine, but can we expect used versions of the Final Days games to be cheaper? I didn't read much into last year's Game Days sale, and I wasn't a regular on CAG then, so I don't know what it was like last year, either.

Only the new price drops, not the used.

If I remember right, final clearance lasts about a week. I could be wrong on that though.

All right, thanks for the answer and the info. :D One more question- will the prices online be the same as the ones in store? Just making sure.
thanks. I might bite at 10.99.
I would recommend it. I picked it up earlier in the sale with one of the coupons that was floating around (got it for $11.99, so not too bad). I normally don't really like first-person shooters, which is why I never bothered with it before, but I've actually enjoyed what I've played of it quite a bit.

Here, let me Google that for you . . . ;)

Looks like there's some info on it here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/8870-fallout-2-a.html

Sounds like you have to play with the config files a bit, but you can get it working.

(And actually, I was wondering the same thing, so despite my smartass phrasing, I'm glad to have the info. Might pick it up tomorrow if they still have it in stock.)

Disgaea and Heavenly Sword for me, if they're at decent prices. Thank you!

EDIT: Guys, correct me if I'm wrong. But I think we can see the clearance prices online. I checked Heavenly Sword, which when you search it, it shows as 24.99. However when you go the game's page, it is 29.99. Similar thing for Disgaea 3, shows 17.99 in the search, 19.99 when you go to the page.

10.99 Bioshock is confirmed via searching for it. The titles that aren't in clearance appear to be going to full price again-- such as Bayonetta which can still be purchased for 39.99, but shows up for 59.99 when you search for it.

EDIT: A lot of these are crappy little 10% drops from 19.99 to 17.99. Though, since my credit won't be taxed I guess maybe I'll go get Disgaea 3. The rest of the clearance is a little boring, though Bioshock for 10.99 isn't bad.

The prices you see are the Used price listing. Whenever the game is OSS new, the Used price takes its place.

I think the search results are showing the final clearance prices, not just used prices. Heavenly Sword is showing up at $24.99. The used price is $27.99. Bioshock is showing up at $10.99. The used price is $12.99.

Sorry, I usually try to check first but was trying to catch up on some things and I thought maybe someone had bought it here and knew without having to check. I don't know how to do that shit so I guess it's a no buy. I hope GoG.com adds Win 7 support at some point.
