Gamestop Gameboy & GBC games 75% off no longer includes DVDs

Deal in title starts tomorrow. Not sure if it's all stores, but but the manager at the one by me said it should stack with edge- he also let me hold about a dozen dvds (ATHF box sets will be like $3 after all discounts) Happy Hunting-
Just wondering but is this still active. The gamestop near me has a lot of dvds and gbC and gb games
Yes, and it should be ongoing. It's listed on their site as one of their special deals right now. They're trying to liquidate these, so the discounts won't be going away.
I see the gb and gbc coupon but nothing about dvds
It's not a coupon. The discount will be applied automatically. In my area, they had signs up at the GS with a DVD section (BR,HDDVD and DVD).

Last three stores I have checked told me they transferred out whatever was left. One said they sent it all to mall stores.

I told him the website shows them having stuff. He said all that's left for GB is defectives they didn't transfer.

Yesterday a local store I'd previously cleaned out had some more games put out, I got...

Rampart GB .60
Flintstones 1.50
Survival Kids .60 (I didn't know what this was until I checked wikipedia later, glad I didn't leave it)
Trax .60
Terminator 2 .45
Top Rank Tennis .45 (Wow, this game has a save battery? sweet)
Rayman 1.50
Rayman 2 1.95
Chessmaster GBC 1.50

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and start calling distant stores that list games I want and see if they can transfer the games to a local store...or do I have to have my local store call and make the request?

I had planned out a trip to south Orange County to raid two stores that had pretty much the last of what I was interested in, and sure enough, one of the stores (Crossroads near UC Irvine) was raided yesterday.

Boy was I PISSED this morning to find the Survival Kids and Dragon Warrior 3 copies gone.:bomb: But whoever raided it left a few gems behind. I ended up with another copy of Dragon Warrior 1 & 2, some Pokemon games, and something else I can't recall at the moment.

I was worried that whoever cleaned out the store before me would also hit the Irvine Spectrum store, because they had a couple of beauties there. But no one hit it so I got another 10 games there, highlights were the last copies of Bubble Bobble and Megaman Xtreme 2 in and Gamestop in Southern California. Also got some Blu Rays, nothing I was missing but probably good for some trade in credit or trade bait. Spiderman 3 (LOL), Stir of Echoes, and a couple of others.

Yeah, the Web site is off. It's as if stores transferred ALL their games and the inventory is stuck in time. I've called a couple stores that supposedly had every hard to find game only to be told in a snide voice, "Pfftt. We don't sell any Gameboy games."

But the Web site DID point me in the right direction to finally get Dragon Warrior III, so it's hit and miss.

It's worth a shot. I would think you'd have to go through another store to it, though.I found a "dump" store that had 7-10 Pokemon Crystals (a game I didn't see in the previous 20+ GS I was in). The manager said he gets calls every so often from other stores asking for a copy or two.

I hate asking these idiots if they have any extra GB GBC games in the back because they always answer me as if I am MR or something telling me, we dont accept trades on these types of games anymore... when it wasnt even what I asked

Gamestop employees are very busy this time of the year, so employees over the phone might not be giving you accurate information. They are bombarded by customers, phone calls and questions at the same time. They also hire a lot of temporary help so it could be that the employee you talked to did not know where the gameboy games were, if they are stashed somewhere then only people who worked at that store for a long time would know where they are.

Yeah, I'm sure that's possible, which is why when I'm in the store I make sure to ask the manager.
Over the phone, I've suggested "Well could they be in the back?" I've called separate times, too, just to be sure to talk to someone different. But outside of driving 40+ miles and going Jack Bauer on them, I just have to assume they're telling the truth.

My complaint with these workers is by simply asking them if they have any of these games anywhere in stock, I'm given the answer to a completely different question... I never asked one time about trading in gb and gbc games...
DVD end of this deal is dead.
I just bought some DVDs at Gamestop today for 85% off.

I didn't have anything to do today so I turned on some sports radio and hit up a store 90 minutes away... I knew they had a decent amount of stuff when I bought a few GBC games this summer. No idea they'd have this much. 4.5 foot receipt time:

Micro Machines V3 .75 (woot, was gonna buy this soon anyway)
Tiny Toons: Buste... 1.20
Lufia: The Legend 1.50 (woot)

M&M's Mini Madness 1.50
BattleToads OVER 9000!!! USD (not really)
And he forgot to ring up Survival Kids (woot, and I would have gladly paid the 40 cents or whatever :p)

Feeling lucky, I went to a few more GS's ~45 mins away from that one and got... 4 games :) One store had none, another had nothing but N'Sync and some stuff I already had:

Wheel of Fortune
Zebco Fishing
Zool
Zoop

(Zweet...)

So about $50 spent + another $15 in gas. I wouldn't have dared do this when gas was four bucks

Yeath the DVD deal might be dead. I went today to 2 different Gamestops and the deal didnt go through but since they still had the signs posted up they went ahead and did it manually. Weird I though they were trying to get rid of their dvds.

Yep, I posted from my phone before. They had signage up, but I overheard the manager talking about "no more DVD promos for the rest of the marketing term" and they manually priced everything to 85% off. The GB game I bought, though, came up at 75% off automatically, and they pulled the signage down while I was getting checked out.

Not sure of the DVDs, but a manager told me the next step in the GB/GBC deal was all the stores would send whatever they had back to corporate, which would dump them to a clearing house or some such.

i'll confirm the GB/GBC is still going on though. the guy looked through the packet and said it was still going on, and the games I bought came up automatically.

Can confirm. I rang up someone for Gameboy games yesterday and the promo was working. Tried to ring up someone with DVDs and it did not work. Looks like the DVD/Blu-ray part is dead.
I dont understand why they would end this promo...did they decide they want to keep all those crappy movies after all?
85% off Blu-Ray movies was clearly an error on their part.

They just wanted to get rid of all of the good stuff and keep all of the garbage ones. And you fell right into their hands...sucker!

LOL
I just crushed a finger hanging xmas decorations. thanks for the laugh.

The clerk at one of the GS stores I hit said they'd be sending all of the remaining stock of DVD's (Blu, DVD, etc.) to Moviestop to replenish their stock.

Can someone help me out if i trade in the following to gamestop how much credit will I get?

Xbox 360 arcade console
1 wireless controller
20 gig hardrive
AV cable

I'm trying to track down Metal Gear Solid.

Just found a GBA on the train. In working condition, missing the battery top...but otherwise, in perfect condition. Now, I just need some games for it.

I didn't really seek out any movies, but I happened to notice that of the 5 stores I've been in recently, none of them had any used movies anymore. I asked a clerk today about it and he said that Gamestop was going to be starting up a 'Moviestop'. I don't know if they'll literally call it that, or if he was just using that name as an example, but if he's right then it sounds like they may be opening up some test used movie stores soon. Apparently they'd all shipped their used movie stock off already.

Obviously just rumor at this point.

To whoever recommended calling the store that has the game you want and asking them to transfer it to your local store, you are the bomb.

I just called one of the three stores within 100 miles of me that has a copy of Dragon Warrior 3, spoke to an associate named Mike who was not only super nice and courteous, he went out of his way to hook me up. He is sending all of the notable games at his store to my local store, including Final Fantasy Legend 3 and Dragon Warrior 3.

Mike also indicated that they were going to be sending the games in soon, and they would either be going to a central warehouse OR going to other stores as dump stores.

I've gotten about a hundred GB/GBC games out of this, sure there are plenty more on my list, but if I can just get those last few I think that will be all for me. Though I am tempted to go pick up the copies of Dracula the Crazy Vampire that I see are at stores near enough to me, since videogamepricecharts lists that as being really $$$.

Nice! That's also one of the games that simply doesn't exist at any Gamestop locations in SoCal. It's really ridiculous - I type in a New York City zip code and 20 stores have Bubble Bobble, Metal Gear Solid, Dragon Warrior 3, etc. in stock. In LA, NOTHING.

Wait...what?

They can do that??!

I mean....I'm kinda scared to try out of fear of being laughed at, because that sounds too convienient for them to do. Seriously...

I can verify that this is, very unfortunately, not true whatsoever. All these store have shipped their GB games elsewhere, but they remain on the store locator. Out of the approx. 15+ stores I've checked only about five of them had any GB games and just one (the closest one to me that I went to first ) had a decent selection.

If anyone needs them, shoot me a PM and I can probably hook you up with copies of Pokemon RBY, Final Fantasy Legend I-II, maybe Final Fantasy Adventure (I may have taken the only one), Wario Land II, Kirby's Pinball Land, and/or Kirby's Dream Land 2. I remember seeing those there still on Sunday. I'll have to see about getting a copy of Crystalis or Super Mario Land 2 shipped to a store near me. Those are the only high wants I still have left.

Juse to double check and make sure I've got this right.

I can call a Gamestop, and ask them to send a game they have in stock to my local gamestop?
movie stop has been around for a little while and it is a real store.
Oh... news to me. Gamestop's headquarters are like 30 minutes from me, so I just had assumed that their initial stores would be here in the D/FW area and I've never seen any. Neat though. I guess.

I think you are going to find that it isn't quite so simple as calling up a store and asking. I have never gotten a store to do it. I haven't asked a ton of times, but most of the responses I have gotten is that if it is within the same district it is a possibility. Otherwise it's a no go.
Juse to double check and make sure I've got this right.

YMMV, but I just did it like I said. I was worried I'd have to either get my local store to call themselves, or would have to pretend to work at my local store and make the request. But the guy just asked if I knew my local store number, I gave it to him, and he said to call back in 10 minutes after he calls that store to see if it's okay. My local store manager is pretty cool and knows me, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

So the guy at the store that's quite a ways away called my local store, got the go ahead, then when I called back he just asked for my name and phone number for when the shipment arrives, which should be 3-4 days. WOOT x10

I'm going to be doing this more often...however, it all depends on getting a store that is willing to do this for you, as well as having a local store that is willing to do this for you. You run a very real risk of tipping store employees off if you try this with, say, a really rare game or item that is indicated as in stock. But if it's really out of the way, what do you have to lose? I'm going to try and hit a couple of stores tonight that hopefully haven't sent everything back yet. Wish me luck guys.

I just hit up a location some 30 miles out. Ended up with multiple copies of Pokemon Gold, Silver, Crystal, Yellow, and Blue, and Super Mario Deluxe. Also ended up with single copies of Dr. Mario, Paper Boy, Kirby's Dream Land, Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, Zelda: OoA, Magi Nation, Donkey Kong Land, Dragon Warrior I & II, Double Dragon, and Bomberman. If anyone is interested in the duplicates, they're definitely up for grabs.
