What happened to these?

I remember they were actually pretty good deals and checking my computer at 9am on Fridays to see what was for sale. They had God of War 3, Bioshock 2, Red Dead Redemption all for very cheap.
After they fucked up the RDR deal so badly, I doubt they would want to do anything again soon.
Yeah, the RDR fiasco was pretty bad. I'm sure it ended up costing them a lot of money and bad publicity. I don't think they're too eager to try that again.

I missed this. What happened?

Basically when the sale went "live" it pretty much went OOS almost immediately, and then when contacting customer service about it, a slew of made up excuses and deception were thrown from every which way.

Bottom line they screwed everyone.

It didn't really sell out that fast, it was that the site couldn't handle the surge of buyers and crashed. Many people were able to get it easily through EBGames.com before people started swarming to that site, though. I think it lasted at least thirty minutes to an hour before going OOS. But then people were able to call and order for about 24 hours to get the reduced pricing since GS wanted to save face.

I was able to order like 1 1/2 hours later on the phone, they guy that answered was nice and to the point, he knew what I wanted because he probably placed the same exact phone order 100 times before me. Once I got through it took him literally less than 2 mins to get my order placed. ;)

Yeah I remember RDR power sale.Wow that was a fail.It would take 10 minutes for you just to get onto a page. The whole website was just a mess.

Woke up "early" before the promotion for RDR went live (11 am was it?). Had to wait 1hr30mins before the site could load and process my transaction. Absolutely horrible. In the beginning when Gamestop.com was being flooded, a few went over to ebgames.com, which was loading fine. Good thing is I managed to get it, and a lot of people were able to call customer service with no problems at all.

Man, I wish I knew to go to ebgames... it took me the whole hour to load it up and of course it was dead by the time I was able to get to the payment page.

As far as the power hour in general I figured it was just a one month thing, another part in their lineup of summer sales.

That was an insane day! The backlash from screwing up that Power Hour was immense. I was afraid that they would give up after all that, and I guess they did.

While they did screw up and the site crashed, thus causing many to miss out on the deal, I called in and I was able to get a copy for about $25 shipped.

Then after the site came back up I signed into my account and realized it still had RDR at the $23.99 price in my cart and even allowed me to use one of the $10 off codes on the game, thus getting me a second copy for about $12-15 SHIPPED.

I sold one to a fellow CAG for cost+shipping and the other one I sold to a buddy of mine for cost. I had initially thought about dumping both of them during a decent tiered trade deal to get back everything I paid and then some, but I changed my mind and decided to do the 'nice' thing instead.

Unfortunately my buddy gave his copy away to his nieces when they moved out of state last month, which means if we wanted to play some online free roam he's getting his own damned copy this time.

So yeah, the sale wasn't that big of a bust for me, but I doubt I'd do so again unless I could double stack coupons to get a copy of whatever game for next to nothing shipped.
