JokerCard

CAGiversary!
Gamestop has lowered the price again for the Rock Band Stage Kit down from $29.99 to $19.99:hot:

Its not available online but here is the link to look for the nearest store that may have it. YMMV for your stores.

I just came back with one from my nearest store. At this price I couldn't resist (it's been $25 at my BestBuy for the longest time and I still didn't buy it!)

Not compatible with Beatles Rock Band. Happy buying!

HAHA! I love everytime a thread pops up about a drop on this, and people get mocked. If I ever actually had people come over and play Rock Band, I might actually throw down the $20.

Drunk with a decent group of people this thing is hilarious and awesome. If you don't dilute the solution you might have a problem with being able to see in a smaller apartment. Easily worth $20.

yah it sounds like the lamest thing...but have a few people over and set it up...it's pretty sweet..worth the 20 definitely..if only the damn thing wasn't so glitchy...i can't pause a song and jump back in to it..and the strobe light likes to get stuck on...but even with those small things..it's quite fun
I dig this but scared it will set off my buildings fire alarms and cause a evac. :)
You can use the kit without the fog if you want. There's two power switches on the unit; one for the strobe and lights and one for the fog machine.

Jaw-some Broseph!!!! I'm picking one up now for 20!!! The bad part is its in a neighborhood where people get shot in broad daylight, and my bosses car got smashed and grabbed. Other than that is a sweet looking deal. Its fog and freaking lights!!!! WIN!!

jesus, where do you live, Liberty City??

yeah, I saw this drop on my weekly friday check of Price Drops on the website. As exciting as it was, and all the GS's I visited over the weekend had them in stock, I could not pull the trigger. I'm all out of plugs anyway, this would be a hassle..

Picked this up for $30 last year. It's very cool, even if you're playing by yourself. Really adds to the rockstar atmosphere of the game.
Can it work as a stand alone?
Unfortunately, no. It needs RB to work.

Thanks so much OP! I got the last one in my city. Never going to use the fog machine, but i wanted the lights + strobe light. This is going to be great for parties.

It's crazy when this thing goes full blast and a lot of fun but hell no it's not going to smoke up my 58 inch plasma! :(

I wish you could use two of these (the lights; not the fogger - one fogger is plenty!). I did see online where somebody got two sets of lights to work but I think it required disassembly and a soldering iron.

Be careful about using the fogger indoors without lots of ventilation because some have claimed it leaves a residue, including inside your 360. I'm pretty sure it says indoor use only, but I think this thing just screams "roof deck party." OTOH it's not like you need a fogger here if you're on your roof deck.
I reviewed the Stage Kit on my CAG blog several months ago.
Thanks for sharing. In my experience, however, I can't agree with this part: "the fog machine doesn't activate in-timing music, meaning that the fog keeps flowing no matter how much fog it's distributed. Unless you actually turn off the switch on the back of fog machine, it keeps pouring the fog out." Obviously the fogger isn't a closed-loop system: it's not going to sense how foggy the room is and adjust its output accordingly. On the other hand, it does seem to be controlled by the track you're playing. I played several tracks with it, and it's not constantly spewing fog: it turns on and off depending on where you are in the track. That said, if you have a small room even it will definitely be fogged up by pretty much any track you play.

I really couldn't use the fog machine part enough to get a feel for its song-timing, if any, before the smoke detector would cut the set short.:lol::lol:

So are the people with fog issues dilluting or not? Is it just a problem with the Rock Band branded fog juice or will another brand work better? I've got this including the fog juice I got on sale from the RB store a couple weeks back but I'm not going to be hooking it up until I get my new media room setup.
Also does this work with RBN songs?
If I recall what I read online correctly, RBN allows authors to put on-screen lighting cues in their track, and those cues also trigger the lights in the Stage Kit. Not sure about the fog, though.

I think it's time I finally buy this. I've been eyeing that Stage Kit at my store for $25 waiting for it to drop more, but I just might now (price match time). Thanks OP!

Gamestop actually says it's available in my area...so the question I have is: "does this work with the PS3?"

Link says Xbox 360, and I see no PS3 version. Also, description doesn't exactly say how the thing connects (unless I just missed it...). Can anyone help me out here?

Edit: IGN review says it connects through USB, so I'm assuming it should be fine, but...can anyone confirm it works on PS3??

I don't believe it works with the PS3. This could be because of the lighting unit doubling as a 360 controller.

Others have said some of this already but I may as well add my two cents:

- Yes, you can use the lights without the fogger and it's still awesome

- The light array becomes the vocalist's controller, but you don't need an active vocalist in your band to use it. The wireless "Lips"-style mic can still be used without a conflict.

- This works with regular Rock Band and LEGO Rock Band, but not The Beatles.

- I know everyone gets paranoid about the fog, but this was specifically designed to be used indoors relatively close to a 360. Just keep the place well-ventilated and you should be fine. However, this thing does spit out a LOT of fog at a time so you will probably end up turning it on for one song, then playing a few without it before you flip the fog switch again.

- Smoke alarms WILL go off so take out the batteries if you can.

Yes, you can use the lights without the fog on. That's the main way this is used by people (as already mentioned).

I'm wondering how 2 of them work together, since getting a new set is almost cheaper than buying a replacement fluid for my first one.
Picked up the only one at my local GS... Guy was happy that someone finally bought it. He said its been sitting there for a long time...
Aaaah, that's a sad scene but I'm happy for you. This is the kind of accessory that everyone assumes is dumb, until they actually try it out in a room full of people.

I'll occasionally have fairly large groups of people over to play and had been eyeing one of these forever. Finally bit and picked one up for $20 at a local Gamestop. Thanks for posting.

Just snagged the last one at Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg, MD. It was up on one of those display wall shelves, so high they had to pull out a ladder to get it. Dusted it off, checked out the contents, good as new. Thanks OP! Been having more and more rock band parties recently, this will be amazing.

Thanks op! Grabbed the last one at the Springfield mall this afternoon. Haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but looking forward to it! Can't beat the price, that's fir sure.

I tried it out last night, you still need to plug in the fog machine to get the thing functional, but you just dont power on the fog machine switch if all you want is the lights. Its pretty badass and it lit up my game room nice and bright. I will need to work on placement soon but im VERY, VERY happy with the purchase. I wish the cord from the fog machine to the lights was longer tho.

If you guys are looking for a great song to demo the lights with, I recommend "Science Genius Girl" by Freezepop. The lights go crazy during the chorus.

Thanks for the tip... will try it out on that song later on... :)

I actually have a question for those that have used this for a while. Would it be safe for me to move the unit around with fog juice inside it? I might bring the unit over to a friends house tomorrow and Im just afraid that if I put fog juice in it and its not used all up, there might be spilling when I lug it back to my place.
