I just came back with one from my nearest store. At this price I couldn't resist (it's been $25 at my BestBuy for the longest time and I still didn't buy it!)

Not compatible with Beatles Rock Band. Happy buying!

Picked up the last one at my local GS yesterday. When I asked him how many they sold, he said that was the only one they ever got in. Made me laugh hard.

Is it possible to run the fog machine without RB? I'd like it for halloween. Just set the thing running on the porch.

EDIT: I think I'm just going to go buy it. One of the local stores says it has it. I don't have RB for my 360 (only the Wii), but I think this will motivate me to finally pick up a copy of it. I want a non-gimped Lego Rock Band anyway as my kids will play LRB with me, but aren't into regular RB. If we play LRB with the fog machine and lights... they are going to go gaga.

Actually just opened it up and tested it yesterday night and i have to say, the strobe and lighting are awesome and easily worth the $20. The fog is overpowering to me so Ill just use up what I have left and then probably never buy more in the future....unless of course a real party is in need of it.

No - it doesn't work without being plugged into the xbox with Rock Band going. (Although I wonder if anyone has ever written a PC program to emulate the lighting prompts from Rock Band, and just plug this in via USB...)

It DOES work with Lego Rock band, though, as well as RB1 and RB2. No-go on RB:Beatles. We'll have to see if it works with Green Day and RB3 later this year. Hope so!

So I picked one up the other day. Lights are awesome, but I'm not sure if the fog machine is broken or not. The first song I tried it on spit out some fog (which disappeared by the time the song was over), the next few songs the machine just made a noise like it was trying to spit out fog, but wouldn't.

Either way, I'm happy with just the light show.

Does the strobe activate on every song? The LED array works for me (haven't tried the fogger) but the strobe only flashes whenever I turn the power off - having said that, I've tried three songs with it.

Just picked one up! Going to try it out on Monday as I'm too busy the rest of this weekend.

The strobe doesn't activate nearly as much as the LEDs do. The LEDs are on in some pattern or other pretty much constantly. The strobe only comes on occasionally. If I recall correctly, the song "My Own Worst Enemy" by Lit has a ton of strobe right off the bat, it would be a good song to test it on. Mine does do that one strobe flash when I power it off, as well.

Yeah, I thought my strobe might not be working at first, probably because I thought that it might be tied to the fogger power switch since it's in the fogger unit. It turned out there just isn't a lot of strobe in the songs I played, and I had to pay careful attention (in a non-darkened room) for it to register that the strobe was going off, what with the competition from the LED light and the on-screen activity. It was my perception that there was more strobe in the metal songs.
I actually have a question for those that have used this for a while. Would it be safe for me to move the unit around with fog juice inside it? I might bring the unit over to a friends house tomorrow and Im just afraid that if I put fog juice in it and its not used all up, there might be spilling when I lug it back to my place.
I recall seeing a comment somewhere that the fog liquid will come out if the unit is tipped (I assume on its side or over, not just a little). So apparently it's not leakproof even with the fill cap on tight. I think if you keep it upright and don't move it too roughly it should be fine. It would be nice if there was an easy way to drain it for moving or storage. I'm sure they just want you to use up the liquid and buy more...

Couldn't resist and picked one up too. Is the fog juice the same as any fog machine would use that you can pick up at a party store? I can't wait until tonight when it turns dark and we can put this thing to use. We have a family cookout at our place in a few weeks - I'm thinking there will definitely have to be a Rock Band Session involved now. I just need to re-unlock the rest of the RB2 tracks and re-buy RB1 to pull those tracks off too (I just bought a new Elite a few weeks ago and didn't retain most of my saved games).

Found this at Best Buy for $25. It was on clearance. There's one left in a pretty beat up box at my store (Hanover, MD to any of my Maryland CAGs).

I was sold after seeing some of the strobe light demos on YouTube. Looks cool and worth the $25.

Most BBY should already have this marked down to the $20-$30 price range. If you're an employee it rings up to $20, and if you're lukcy enough to have a music section in your BBY, you can get fog for it. You'll get violated paying $29.99 for a gallon though. Being a rock star ain't cheap.

Yeah - it really is super fun and I haven't done the fog either. Dark room with Kickstart my Heart going and I couldn't stop grinning the entire time. $20 incredibly well spent.

Now that I'm finally getting RB2/Beatles/Lego for 360 via their (now dead) deal, I'm definitely going to pick one of these up. My kids and I will love this. The web site is acting weird, but I think they are still available locally. In the main listing the stores are showing up blank, but clicking "Show More" or whatever it says brings up a list including local stores that have it.

Have had a lot fun last 2 nights with this. Puts out a LOT of fog. Also, doesn't work with Beatles, as stated earlier. Will it get old? I am sure it will, but until then, it's a nice addition. Definitely adds something to the game until the fog makes it so you can't see a 46" screen that is 6 feet away.

Yah, shame it doesnt work on beatles rock band, but its really great. Surprised people are using the fog machine part of it, i don't intend to ever use it.

Use the fog machine at least once. I was startled by how long it lingered and how much it pumped out. Have to just at least finish the bottle up or else it'll just go to waste.

I picked one of these up today and I'm disappointed because the strobe light doesn't seem to work. It has never turned on even once. We are playing Lego Rock Band. Is the problem with Lego Rock Band, or should the strobe light work there too? I don't have RB1 or RB2 to test with. The separate light module works and the fog machine produces fog, but the strobe light on the fog machine isn't lighting.

I'm pretty sure the strobe light only functions periodically. On Lego Rock Band, I know it works with the Bon Jovi song.

Thanks for the tip. Alas, I tried the Bon Jovi song and no strobe light, so it looks like mine is indeed defective. I'm going to return it and see if they can get me another one. If they can't I presume they'll give me at least store credit for it. There's another GS not too far away that also shows as having one on the web site. Or maybe I'll just return it and not get another - the light show is a bit underwhelming, actually, though probably better in a completely dark room, and the smoke, while effective, is a bit smelly. Not sure it's worth the bother, but probably it would be more fun if the strobe worked.

Yes, you should switch it out. I would also recommend getting RB1+Rb2. The lights work a lot better on them than on LRB. Plus, you can export LRB and RB1 into RB2 and get one big, happy RB library!

EDIT: Make sure you play through the whole song because the strobe is not constant like the rest of the lights.

Yeah, I played through the whole song. I think I'm just going to try to return it though. LRB is pretty much it for me because my kids only want to play LRB and I don't play RB games alone much. In fact I had the Wii version of RB2 (since sold) for a long time and I've already play LRB in only 4 days probably as much or more then I ever played RB2. Just to be clear, that LRB is for 360, yes - I'm not trying to use the stage kit with the wii. :) LRB Wii was gimped, thus why I switched. Anyway, RB is so much more fun with my kids. While I have friends over on occasion, that doesn't happen that often. So the value of RB2 and RB1 isn't there for me.

Picked up the last one at Lenox Square in Atlanta. Loving it so far. The only thing that sucks is that I had to put the fog liquid in even though I never have any intention of using it because the strobe light won't work if it's empty.

I have RB and all RB variants for PS3... IS this was the PS3 version this would be a no brainier for me. I don't often have people over to play RB these days... But I use to quite some time ago... Even if I only used it a couple times this would still be worth the cash.

There is no PS3 variation. The Stage Kit was only made for the 360.

Strobe light works fine without any fog liquid. Ive played 10+ songs and the liquid is still sealed inside the box it came in. I just flipped the power switch on the back for the lights and thats it. Never flipped on the fog machine itself, dont need it.
Has anyone *TRIED* using it on a PS3? Wonder if it may work but obviously the controller wouldn't?
It won't work. It's essentially seen as another "controler" on the 360.

Trying it on the PS3 would be like trying your 360 controler on a PS3, obviouly it won't work.

Has anyone hacked one of these to be controllable via a computer? It would make for a pretty cool halloween decoration with smoke, strobe light and using the light show to flash red light and such.

Got the last one in our area yesterday. Tried it out last night with my son, w/o the fog. No instructions, but it was easy to figure out. The one thing I found online today is that the lens on the lights pulls out to focus the LED's, and if the fog is too much for you, cut the solution with distilled water. Gonna try that tonight.:bouncy:

Yes, make sure you pull out the lens thing, otherwise the light show is a complete bust. Even doing that, truthfully it isn't much, but for $20 it's reasonably fun. Sure glad I didn't pay the original price! I'm a lot more interested in is using this via PC. I did find another, simpler app to control it. Unfortunately it's pretty limited, but it does work great:

I'll have to download the other one posted above.
