Since the deals suck and we sometimes derail the thread with fast food talk, does anyone have experience with someone on eBay claiming the digital code for a game doesn't work? Does the seller ever win in those kinds of cases?

Edit: I sent the code and he said he was getting an error. I tried redeeming it and it said the code was already used. I sent him a second code and he came back saying it was already claimed. So I tried redeeming that code and ended up redeeming it on my account. The buyer has great feedback (over 1000 and 100% rating) but it just all seems odd.

I don't have any personal experience, but from what I've read if you just messaged the code to them and they claim it didn't work you will 100% lose.

I'm not sure what the likelihood of winning is if you actually shipped it with tracking.

i don't think sellers are able to leave negative feedback for buyers any more.

I think some people manage to find out when the code was actually redeemed, but supposedly it won't help your case if you didn't physically send it out.

100% feedback means nothing for buyers since I believe that sellers can't even leave negatives anymore.

I sold codes on eBay but I haven't had anyone say doesn't work yet. I do completely understand that as soon as someone says that there's no way I can win.

Lame. I'm looking at all of his recent feedback that he has left others and he has a lot of "code didn't work" or "didn't receive item". I guess I'll just refund but seems like I'll get hit with negative feedback anyway. I didn't pay for this code so I don't need the headache. Lesson learned.

Sorry I haven't updated the GS sheets today I am assuming GS is having more issues with their servers since I keep getting these errors trying to do a query on 2 seperate computers on 2 different networks.

The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable.

I will update as soon as I can get reliable results.

Nick you can block a buyer from buying from you on ebay. Also i always check their feedback like you did before sending the code and just cancel the transaction if it looks fishy especially with digital stuff.

Be aware too eBay doesn't really allow digital goods to be sold for the most part, I have had warnings issued on my accounts at least a dozen times over a decade for selling DLC codes and digital games. I have no idea what the rules really are, I've tried different categories and explicity saying its a DLC digital only and 90% of the time the sale goes through just fine and everyone is happy but a few times eBay sweeps through listings and seems to cancel and warn anyone selling digital stuff. I've had sales that had gone through been revoked, even though I got to keep the money and seller got the code and all that ended up happening was ebay fees got returned to me (thanks, ebay?)

also like you i've had people say codes don't work, a lot of times its people in Europe or China even though I explicity say the code is for North America only. Oh well, like you almost all the sales were for stuff I got for free so it never really bothered me when I had to do a refund, easier doing that than fighting it.

This year has been pretty bereft sadly, all my pre orders going through best buy and very few pre order codes going out anymore, or they are so lame nobody wants to buy them. MGS 5 CE was one of the best, people paying $50-60 for the CE digital items which pretty much paid for the CE contents.

Maybe previously but currently the buyer cant leave negative feedback. Ive cancelled items and have had orders cancelled on items I bought. And there's no option.

Lol that happened to me a while ago. Was told it was giving him an error and that it was used when trying to redeem on store. Since I thought that it was really used, and was supposed to be expired according to the voucher expiration date, I tried to redeem it and bam it redeemed on my account lol. I sent him another one and haven't gotten a reply yet

Regardless, your seller rating takes a hit each time you do a cancellation that the buyer did not request. Rating as in, whether you keep top rated seller status or not(as opposed to feedback score). That is a big seller fee discount to lose if you already have it and you sell a lot of video games

Nick, although I don't usually sell codes, I'd like to add this jerk to my banned bidders list if you could share his name.
Sucks to hear, hopefully it wasn't too much money.
The code was free so I'm just missing out on some extra potential cash. It would have been nice though since this holiday season is expensive for me. I'm not sure if there is some weird policy for calling out people specifically so let me know if there is and I'll edit my post.

His username is xxwmsxx.

Hmm. Seems I have (what I thought was) a 30-day ban that now seems to have surpassed 30 days. I presume that it was for trading in 5 copies of a single game in a month...though I'm usually very careful about that, so I'd assumed I'd just slipped up.

My Rewards points are all still there, so I'm not perma-banned, it seems.

Anyone know of any ban that is longer than 30 days, but less than "permanent"?

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know whats the amount limit on a single trade credit card?

I'm approaching 1k in trade credit and don't want to raise any unwanted attention

What's the best value handheld? I'm on the road so much for work, I hardly get gaming in during the week
2DS is the cheapest way to get access to the DS/3DS library which is pretty massive. It will set you back about $80 for a new one with a couple of games. $100 if you want to buy a massive SD card.

The Vita on the other hand has virtually ever PS1 rpg you might want to play and is a great Indy gaming machine on the go. The value proposition of the Vita is greatly enhanced if you have been grabbing the "free" games on PS+. I think a used Vita and a 32GB card will set you back about $150.

I've seen Vitas for $80 in pawn shops. Like someone said, it's great for PS1 RPGs, PSP games, and Killzone (if you're an online FPS fan). Also, if you are staying in hotels with decent wifi, it's great to be able to play your PS4 games through remote play. I've done it, and it generally works fine.

Since they stopped allowing neg feedback for buyers, this method bears little weight. I'd say most buyers don't give a shit whether or not the seller leaves them feedback.
Well that sucks. If they try to screw me over I'd leave a feedback saying beware of this scammer bla bla bla all in caps and exclamation points lol

Yeah that's why I don't even bother selling on eBay anymore. They always side with the buyers so you're absolutely screwed if you get a jackass who decides they want to fuck you over.
