WELCOME TO THE NEW GAMESTOP TRADE-IN THREAD.

The new thread format will be a work in progress but this first post will be the promos that are active and useful information, but also wikified. The second post will currently be frequently asked questions but may move it into the first post. Post three will be historical trade-in values from before the list.

To pay off your pur:

$15/0.1=$150 worth of trades

To pay off your pur elite or whatever it's called:

$60/0.15=$400

To get benefit from pur elite

(x-$150)*0.1=(x-$400)*0.15

Solving for x, the amount you would have to trade in for the pur elite to become advantageous, it would be $900.

Cliffs:
If you're trading in more than $900/year, get the pur elite.

Nobody has mentioned it yet but I did notice that the % off collectibles only applies for valid collectibles, as stated on the fine print.

Wouldn't be surprised if it only applies to full priced (Try saying that 5 times real fast lol) / excludes clearance items. -_-'

Or ya know, if youre trading any significant amount per year and want a $10 discount per month, and an extra 5% off flips.

As shitty as GS trades have notoriously been to non-CAGs (the type of casual gamer who balks, rightfully so, at the types of games that only get 25 cents trade value) they're still way ahead of Best Buy most of the time, so while BB can get you a new release for $48, it's most likely youre paying cash and therefore about $4 in taxes. Getting one "new" release but preowned $54 game for $41 each month with no tax cause I'm paying in trade credit flips is pretty decent.

So collectibles basically covers all the non-gaming stuff? Are there categories of that stuff that aren't covered by the Elite discount that I'm missing?
 
Hey blackbeard Have Gamestops been having a good amount of Breath of the Wild Switch and Wii u versions in stock? I'm going to renew my pro membership and I don't want to get to the store two days later and saying they don't have it in stock. I've called this particular store and they said they have enough but won't tell me how many. I need them for boomerangs.

I want to bite at $39.99 but like TF2, I'm sure MEA will be Best Buy deal of the day, for $30 or less, soon. They must have overshipped a good amount to have a $20 off sale so soon and GS usually is undercut by BB, Target by a small margin on sales for titles.

I'm waiting to see BB's ad on Sunday to see if they do anything for MEA or Watch Dogs 2

I checked the FAQ for those GC purchases is it typically per card or per transaction? iE I just bought 100 in uber and am about to buy another 200. Just wondering if I should break it up.

don't buy ME:A, literally just standing in front of a blank TV staring at nothing is more fun than playing that craptacular game.

i almost was tempted when I got the sale email but as usual gamestop is selling used copies for more than new copies ($40 new, $49 used) so i guess i'll just let my 20% birthday coupon expire.

pur elite seems good enough, i wonder if they'll create a rewards point cert to redeem for it like pur pro. still, this all feels like the dying gasps of a company that won't be around in 5-10 years. I can't imagine 99% of customers will ever want to pay $60/yr for benefits, hardly any other people i see when i'm at gamestop even accept PUR Pro when it gets pitched to them.

for a regular gamer $10 off a used game isn't that great anymore, game prices drop so fast that there is little reason to ever buy a game used, just wait a month or two and you can buy it way cheaper on sale for brand new from amazon / best buy. I can't even remember the last time I actually played a used game. Not to mention I am buying digital games more and more now, especially the big multiplayer titles. so nice not fucking with discs.

Interesting many of my local stores ARE on the list. My three primary stores are for sure. I don't trade enough to make it worth it. I was at my local store yesterday and they didn't mention this new program either. Guess it isn't live yet?

 
The $175 for an Xbox One trade in for a Switch is still going on right? Is that for the base 500GB Xbox One, meaning I'd get more for a 1TB? I want to get rid of mine it just collects dust.

Same. I renewed 4/20 and never received mine. Ended up just calling customer service right now, surprisingly wasn't on hold more than a minute, and they gave me a code over the phone. Hopefully it works this weekend.

Anybody know when the B2G1 PS3/360 games starts? Hoping it would start today but to no avail at least online.

I'm considering the same for my X1. Supposedly, Xbox Game Pass will launch publicly in a couple more weeks, and then we'll have a lot to play for $9.99/mo. You might want to hold off for that.

I put 60+ hours into it too. It has issues, but I still enjoyed it. It's Dragon Age Inquisition in space, with some old ME mixed in. Worth playing if you love ME.

I think if you're getting a blank screen while playing ME: A, you have the TV on the wrong input.

Patch 1.05 helped a lot with issues with ME: A and there's more patching on the way to make it better still. Pre-1.05, it was certainly playable, though post-patch, it's much better.

 
when i was trading in some games today i was told i would get 50% bonus if i traded to call of duty ww2.

didnt test it since i put 5 toward little nightmares

Hard to read but the fine print says 4/24 to 4/29. It didn't automatically ring up for some reason, so the employee had to manually put in the discount.

I'm going to sit this one out since I have more 360
and PS3 than I know what to do with. It would be nice to get some of the rarer titles such as RPGs though, but with GameStop increasing the prices of the backward compatible 360 games and increasing the prices of anything else with a popular license attached, I'd have a hard time finding anything I'd want.

So to get the B2G1 for preowned 360/PS3 games to work, you have to be a PUR member and have the employee enter this code: EBC30555592

And apparently there IS a bonus for preordering CoD WWII going on right now, even though it's not listed on the website. The worker says it should work today and this weekend. 40% for basic members and 50% for PUR. Dis gon be gud :D/

That's probably rolled into the same existing 40%/50% TIV bonus that is going on right now. But, given how popular that game is, and the fact that you get Beta access AND a hat for preordering, this should suck lots of people into stores. Prepare your riot gear!
