Gamestop UPS scam

Bought 2 games online w/ free 3 day UPS ground and UPS claims to have delivered them. My street gets a lot of foot traffic and I can't believe the driver would think it would think it is ok to drop the package on a doorstep here.

Called Gamestop's 800 # and they said 5-10 business days for UPS to investigate. It sounds like this could go either way, that maybe I'm just out $80 because UPS is stupid?

Anyone gone through this? Is it really my responsibility to somehow make a custom request to the shipping company every time to tell them not to throw my packages into the street?

UPS usually foots the bill for stupid things like this. I think they already insure all their packages to $100 anyway, so you should be fine. All GS items are delivered with Signature confirmation too.

this.. hope your problem gets resolved though, best of luck!

I've ordered several times from Gamestop and have never signed for the package. They were always just dropped wherever the delivery guy decided to drop it. Not even a ring on the doorbell either.

Good luck on getting this resolved OP, I think you have a good chance at getting either another order of the games though or a refund. So hopefully it works out that way.

yea they always just leave the package at the front door in my experience, luckily i live in Maine though, only wolves and bears around me, if the package was food tho i'd probably be SOL

you need a little direction with your finger pointing, how about this

Gamestop will sometimes deliver packages via UPS when you ask it to be shipped for USPS. So think of all the money wasted on choosing the higher end option if Gamestop just gives away shipping upgrades for free. Also thats BS, they don't do no Sig confirmation I've got several packages without it.

Yeah... not a scam. I've had a UPS problem before, and they resolved it efficiently so I think you should be alright OP. As for deliveries... the UPS guy here knocks on my door and I gotta sign for it, but if I don't answer (say I'm taking a dump as was the case a few days ago) then he'll just leave it at the door. One thing I noticed though... GS.com uses UPS envelopes when they ship something through USPS, but I thought you weren't allowed to do this? I thought you could only use UPS envelopes for UPS shipping?

funny thing is that i never received my GOW3 game either and it says delivered.

That rarely ever happens.. I get amazon packages like every week and never have issues. I actually like that they leave the package at my door as I am never home.. in this case though who knows what happenned.

90% of UPS ground packages to residential areas (exceptions being blacklisted customers, liquor, cigs or it's dl to a business; require a signature) are all Driver Released by the driver. If your concerned about the safety of the parcel, you need to contact UPS to have it either held at the center or nearest UPS store. You also have the option to have it dl to a neighbor. Or have it dl to your work. Either way, it sucks your package got stolen. File your claim with UPS, but don't expect to see money anytime soon though.

If you paid via credit card and it's not solved to your satisfaction in the next 10 days, file a chargeback on your card with Visa/Mastercard or your bank.

the way i resolved this leaving stuff at the door was calling up UPS and having them put a notice on my address that comes up in the system to not leave a package at the door, but with my leasing office, or to leave a note for re-delivery another time. it was kind of a pain, i called corporate, explained the value of what at that time was left, took about an hour for the regional office to call me back and confirm that i NEVER want packages left sitting in front of my apartment.
have never had a problem since, from anyone who ships UPS no matter what sort of confirmation is on the package, it is not left on my doorstep.
this was not something told to me the first time i complained, but might be worth looking into so nothing like this happens.

No they're not. My copy of Red Dead Redemption that I received from Gamestop when they overnighted it via UPS was NOT signed for. The UPS ninja driver just unceremoniously wedged it between the paper recycling bin and the side of our house by our side door.

Had I not been checking the UPS site and checked around the side of the house before leaving to go someplace, it probably would've been stolen and I would've been in the same situation as the OP.

They did the same bullshit with the 9 game package that EA's online store sent me, except in that instance they moved our blue recycling container to hide the box that they just placed on the side stoop.

How hard is it for UPS to ring the friggin' doorbell when they deliver something so we at least know it's out there. If I wasn't home both times when they were delivered, I have no doubt they would've been stolen, since there's alot of foot traffic up and down our street.

That's the thing though. The car was in the yard and I think our front door was even open, so it would've been a shorter walk for him to ring the doorbell, drop the package on the doorstep out front and then disappear into his cloud of smoke like he did when he dumped them on the side stoop.

He literally must've dropped the package then ran back out to his truck because by the time I got upstairs to check the side stoop the truck was already gone.

That's weird then. My UPS always requires a signature from me when delivering the items. I've convinced him to sign for me and just leave them on the porch for me since I've gotten to know the guy that well. Every time a new guy drives by, I never get my package because I have tos ign for it :(.

my ups driver always leaves the package in the car port, i've never had to sign for it. i like it that way because i'm never home during the day, and don't have to go pick it up like i do whenever something is delivered from fedex.

If you ever had a package missing, UPS will require a signature regardless of whether or not the seller requires it. I had a GS shipment loss of like 40 bucks, and they told me I would need to drive to the sorting facility if no one was there to sign. (And no one is home for most of the day). Unless I sign something that says the shipment was delivered, I would have to do that (and take time off of work in doing so). That is really not possible for me to do, so I ended up eating the 40 and saying it was delivered, so I could have items left at my house.

My gamestop orders come through regular mail, never had to sign for them, they are usually stuck in the mail box if not brought to the door.

Why not have them delivered to your work?! I used to work as a FedEx driver and had UPS/DHL/FedEx Ground (different company entity) deliver stuff to my station for me all the time because I didn't want things left at my apartment door.

AND as for the OP, you need to go through UPS customer service unfortunately. It's the driver's fault, he should know whether it's a decent neighborhood and if it's safe to leave a package or not. I would knock and ring the doorbell but I also made an effort to conceal a package if I was leaving it on a porch, something UPS doesn't seem to worry about.

That seems like a pain, can't you just make a special request to have them just throw it down the well/hole or whatever it is you live in?
