Picked up a copy at TRU and had no problem getting the $15 gift card. They had no copies on the shelves which worried me at 1st and when I asked if they had it in stock the kid working there took the game from under the counter like I was buying porn or something it was funny. Wanted to pick up a XBL points card so I could stack the deal with the $10 off $75 deal from the weekly ad but they were out of stock of the points cards.

Gave buy to the Circuit City deal through their website. However, points card was on "back order." Anyone know, on average, how long it takes for them to ship something, when it is on "back order"?
Wow... Lucky Lucky Lucky

Ive called 4 Best Buy's and none of them would price match the ad. Not even the TRU ad.

The Best Buy I went to tonight didnt even have the strategy guide for 25% off when you buy it. Same with the RC, they didnt even get a shipment at all

The only thing i ended up getting for free was a Gears of War 2 keychain and cup holder from Walmart when i didnt even buy it from there
Not luck more like negotiating skills. Like the other guy in this thread I printed out the gift card matching policy from their website and showed it too them. Then the y agreed to do it for me.

No skills or printout required for me. I just showed them the TRU ad and asked if they could PM their offer of 59.99 Limited Ed plus free $15 Gift Card. The rep asked someone else then gave me a choice between the GC or the 10 bucks off, she said they couldn't give me both. I chose the GC, then went to another BB to PM for $11 off. Basically, I got $26 off the LE. Now all I need is the tank which is backordered.
Is the Walmart deal good for online only?
They didnt give it to me, they told me to bring the ad that says it and I guess they'll give it to me.

Can you please post a link to BB's gift card matching policy?

Thanks

On bestbuy.com it says "The Best Buy net purchase price is calculated by deducting the value of all instant and mail-in discounts such as rebates, free offers and promotional gift cards."

Does that mean they will deduct the $20 that the 1600 point card is worth?

At the store they deducted the value but sold me a GC with it. I don't think very many are going to go the route of just taking off the gift card but it seems to depend on the discretion of the manager on duty...

I went in to get my copy at CC. They too were out of the 1600 MS cards They gave me a choice of a raincheck or the exact retail amunt on a gift card. Took the gift card ($21).
The store was in Tampa....:D

Thanks for the tip! I live in St. Pete, heading there now!

I was able to order online. They separated the orders:
1. GoW2 $40 (charged)
2. 1600 Pt card (backordered, not charged)

I was able to cancel the order for the 1600 point card, which left them only charging me for the $40 GoW. Don't know if that will change before its shipped, but at this point I am cool with that.

As I related upthread, the store I went to specifically said they weren't rainchecking the giftcard. While it sucks not to get it, I wasn't about to burn a tank of gas and hassle with driving around trying to get someone to honor someone else's deal. Screw CC for not preparing for their on promo and screw BB for being more interested in sending customers begging to hand them money away. Yay for Costco having a low normal price.

I did that as well. I don't think they will charge us more just because we cancelled the card since they already charged us for the 40$.

From what I've gathered, if they charge us more without our permission, we can take legal action. Which if it came to that I would just cancel GoW leave it alone.

Asked BB B&M to price match the CC deal. They charged me $40 for GoW2 (regular edition), $20 for the 1600 points card.

Dunno if this'll work for other people, but I hope so.

I was able to get the CE version at Best Buy, with the free remote control tank. When I asked them, they matched the Circuit City free 1600 Xbox Live points card (I just had to show them the deal online). On top of that, I was able to get my RewardZone and American Express points, making this one of my better instant return game purchases.

Best of luck!

...so anyone chime in on deals post pre-order/release?

I for some reason thought I could do something at a B&M today - oops.
Be nice to see this thread still used to reveal any remaining GoW2 deals.

[and w/o needing to buy a new console =b]

Is the TRU deal still going on today? I was there yesterday and they were out of GoW2 but I was planning on trying another TRU in the area today...

Nope, I checked on of the little paper sales things they hang on the front of the game racks and it said the deal for GOW2 only went till 11/08.
Only surviving Circuit City local to me (Sunnyvale, CA) were total jerks and basically said "we're doing nothing for you" despite mentioning what other stores in the country were doing. I even spoke to the manager and with a snarky attitude he said the other stores aren't supposed to be doing anything, its against store policy etc. WELL, its probably illegal to advertise something that people have NO CHANCE of getting... I think they didn't have any point cards to begin with.. I'm glad CC is dying, and because of their runaround today I'll see to it they don't get any more business from myself or friends.

I opted to get the $5 off deal from Fry's straight up, no strings attached, no running out of pointcards giftcards or any of that crap.
Yeah the circuit city in Sunnyvale are run by a bunch of idiots. I tried to buy Ninja Gaiden II from them, hoping I would get a 20 dollar gift card after paying 39.99, but when I asked customer service about this, this mid aged mexican who spoke english with an accent I barely understood told me the sale never existed in the first place. I showed the deal to a younger worker and he talked to customer service about it (this time it was another guy that was standing there). He told me the offer was online only. So I went home and ordered it online. I then went to cheapassgamer and found the thread about the sale and found out that another cag was able to get the game and gift card in another circuit city store. WTF. But at least I was eventually able to get the game and gift card online.

I ordered gears of war 2 through circuitcity.com again (guessing that the store wouldn't have any microsoft cards in stock and the workers would be douchbags about the sale). I've recently checked the order number, and it didn't say anything about the microsoft point card. But from the look of things, they're being backordered so I'll give them another week or so.

My GOW2 from BB.com came in Saturday afternoon, but I wasn't able to take it to the store until Sunday. Since they couldn't match the deals from the previous week I just returned the game. The nice thing is that the CSR recognized that I bought it for the tank, and since no tank came there wasn't any deal, so she refunded the shipping as well.

my CC ran out of GOW2, not the 1600 point card, so they asked if i wanted a raincheck so i could get the 1600 point card, i said thats ok im gonna go buy it at Toys R us, they said GOOD LUCK.
so i can now get COD5 at toys r us for 45 bucks and get another gift card HAHAH

I called my local CC today(in Pasadena,CA), and they'll giving me "We don't have them yet."
Something tells me CC was purposely pulling a dick move like this.

I ordered the game at CC online. I got my point card in the mail today. The game didn't come though. The card was backordered when I bought it.
Does BB still have tanks in stock?
the one by me in Westbury, NY had 3 of them in stock yesterday...
Anyone know of where I can still get this with a deal? not into MSRP.
Check out ebay...

I bought the Limited Edition on Ebay for $48 shipped after $15 cash back Live deal. ($63 before cash back).

It was open, but had all the codes unused. Be aware of used copies for sale without the codes for the map pack for the golden gun if that is important to you.
My bb doesn't have the tank, were any other stores offering it? Is it connected by wire or radio controlled?
The tank is BB exclusive with purchase of GOW 2 LE and they were released over a week ago, so they might be running out. It is radio controlled.

Has anyone been able to pick up their 1600 point card from CC after having one ordered for them? My local store didn't get them in when they told me they would be in by and are now offering no guess as to when they'll arrive. I get the feeling CC is trying to run out the clock on these. If they get none in before they liquidate all the stores, they don't have to give anything away!

I got a call from them 2 days after launch. I believe Gears 2 released on a Friday, so it was the following Sunday morning. I just went in with my receipt to the customer service desk and they handled it in the same manner as if I came by picking up an online order. They had a checklist and crossed my name out along with my receipt. I was surprised that it was handled so quick and efficiently.

Since they should have only charged you $39.99 for the actual game, and $19.99 for the 1600 points card, maybe you can ask for a gift card or swap it with another item of similar value? They did this "special order" for the majority of those who purchased Gears 2, so I think there would be an uproar about people not receiving what they paid for.

thanks for your update~ yeah i figure id give them until the end of this week and after that ill have to ask to speak to the manager. 3 weeks would be a little too long to have something special ordered. that is if they even placed the order...

anyone else have any luck?
