Gears of War 3 - Release Date Sept. 20

I read 360a on the Gears 3 forum. Also True Achievements lists the event under the Socialite achievement for the game.

I'd recommend 360a for Gears 3 though, since they're the ones finding the glitches and tricks for this game most of the time.

I'm still trying to figure out how you were accumulating 3M-4M per round, when I couldn't even get up to 100K and I played for roughly 4hrs.

One thing I totally regret is completing wave 50 without spending all my money first upgrading everything I could have...I was just too damn tired to continue.

I noticed I got a message about the dedicated severs. It said continue playing on non dedicated servers or download. I hit the button for Download and nothing ever happens. What is going on?!?!?! I haven't played Gears 3 in a while so I'm out of the loop.

It takes quite a while to build up but you were supposed to stop at a certain wave and keep dying.. For instance: Once I got to Wave 9 I just kept dying from there. I had like 20k at the time and I was getting a little money every start of the round. The money does not come up until after the initial 30 seconds. Took me a little while to figure out what I was doing but I got it..

Download the Booster Map Pack. It is a free map pack you must download to play online with other people. Search for it through Bing if you can't get it to start in the game.

I already have that one, but I still get that message.

I was reading on epic's forum it sounds like you have to buy the newest dlc one.

Managed to get 50 Waves of Horde done on Escalation. It was really interesting too, because we had it setup in a way where they always spawned in the lower-right hand corner of the map, so Waves were almost always done very quickly. I got a few Hail Mary ribbons as well in the late session since so many Boomshots became available. I think I got about...5-6 a wave for 3-4 waves.

Team Shaman (Healed 4 teammates at once as Kantus)
Team Saviour (Revived 3 teammates at once as Kantus)
Trick Shot (Torque Bow Headshot + Kill)
I Gotcha (Revived 4 Teammates in 1 Wave)
Long Hauler (All 50 Waves in One Sitting)

Shouldn't be too bad and I was surprised I had 4 "The Super" Ribbons from playing online and what not.

Managed to get Trick Shot and The Super with a friend. I'm pretty proud of my Super Ribbon too. Shop a full clip of Gnasher, got active reload, and told him to roll. Fired and BOOM, headshot. First try.
 
gg last night and thanks for doing the beast achievement (plus a few ribbons) as well. I'm down for 1-50 horde, just let me know what time you guys are thinking of starting. I have yet to actually go 1-50 straight.

I think I see need to pop 3 ppl w/a ticker and chop up 4 as the butcher for beast.

other: Comet mutator on horde is funny but damn annoying if you have a good sound system.

Well it was giving out 5% "interest" each time you failed the wave in horde so once you amassed $50,000 or so you could just let it run and keep restarting the wave each time you died. Each wave the "interest" is compounding and your $$$ starts to grow very quickly. After a couple hours you end up with over a billion dollars so you were getting like $50 mil in interest each wave and a bunch of onyx medals.

is this horde event still on?
 
horde event is over. i played yesterday and money was normal.

last night i played with a couple friends and they said something about not being able to play without the fenix rising dlc, lets just say it felt like gears of war 2 lag fest. You would shoot someone with a SOS and 1 second later they would die. Also way too many times i shot someone dead, then 1 second later i got killed by the person i just killed. Pretty shitty how if you dont buy the dlc you are stuck with lag.

errr...did they just hang out beta cole train and savage kantus skins with the dlc? craptacular for anyone who played 100 matches in beta and preordered or paid for the amazon dlc (great for anyone who didnt).

The skins in the DLC have ever so slightly different coloration than the old ones... But, yes. Yes they did.

all they did was change the color of cole's pants and change the brown on the S.Kantus to more of a red color. they will be doing all the pre-orders like this! MB looks like he's in a cop's outfit. the new maps look great.

I think the only preorder skin that seemed uniquely worth it so far was the baird skin and savage kantus...but the next dlc skin will probably be baird with purple goggles. "wait what? purple goggles! awesome!" (facepalm)

I agree w/the new maps, but I don't agree with the way they did the pre order skins...but whatever, you figure you're playing as a female for most of the time to get the onyx medal then you play whatever dlc achievement skin to get the achievement. By the time you're back to a normal gaming schedule, they replaced all the preorder skins with palette alts and you're playing a new game.

If they're going to offer Skins, they need to offer the Flaming ones at some point. The new Characters skins (LE) are pretty terrible IMO and make little sense.

I'm not inherently against the idea of selling preorder exclusive DLC later on (it is nice that everyone will get a chance to use these skins if they want to, and the people who got them right away have had months to use them while everyone else had to wait), but it would be nice if companies would say up front what the situation is.

They probably said early unlock before and it had a negative affect on sales, so now they just say "bonus" or "special preorder limited edition" so...vague. drrty bastards, you win again. (preoders operation raccoon city LE)

the most insane example was MK preorder skins, c'mon...Reptiles were selling for $80+.

They better not. I suffered through Bulletstorm and all I got was a lousy Flaming Hammerburst.

Can't people just be content with the numerous skins they already have?

I think people were anticipating the skins to be actual exclusives due to how they handled the Gold Weapon skins in Gears of War 2. The actual rarity of the Gold skins in that game makes them special to have.

I also think that the Horde Command Pack was supposed to come with new copies of Gears of War 3, much like the Flashback Map Pack for Gears of War 2. But then Microsoft pulled Epic aside and was like, "Hey, do you like money and fucking over consumers?"

On the other hand, they are training their consumers to always wait and get everything cheaper later, and it's going to come back and bite them. Soon the effectiveness of preorder exclusives will be so diluted they'll no longer be able to say "No, this time it's exclusive for realz" and have anyone believe it.

Think anyone is going to give a damn about preorder "exclusives" for Gears 4 now? Shortsightedness FTW!
 
So I was playing TDM and I noticed a bot named "Savage Hunter". If you image search on Google "Gears savage marauder" it should be the first pic. So Epic decided to rename the marauder and lock him as a playable character to sell later. Epic... I'm really starting to hate you.

Mechanic Baird and Commando Dom will be darker blue, and the Grenadier will have red accents.

i dont mind playing 50 waves of horde later. we could whip through that private, casual, with mutators on. Unless it doesnt work in private? Ill be back on after 8pm ET. Maybe knockout some ribbons while we do it? I still need revive 4 guys in a wave. Think thats the only one im missing for horde.

I was playing frosty, its pretty fun. Some dude was crying how we were using pistols, becase we dont know how to use the hammerburst. LOL Are you kidding me? Hammerburst is so easy to use in frosty. I mainly stick with the pistol because im about 70 headshots from gold medal. But its pretty fun. Only thing that sucks is "ENEMY FORCES" and you get hammer-raped in the back.
 
7th Number, invite me when you're going to do Horde. It works in Private Matches and with Mutators, and I can teach you a neat trick about Escalation Horde. Makes it so easy.

I Gotcha is easy; Friendly Fire on, melee everyone and revive when down 4 times before Wave 1 starts.
 
Thanks to everyone who helped out tonight. Especially ebbtide for helping me get the last few ribbons i needed. Im happy to say i have 100% ribbons! WOOOO :D

I still need the achievements for doing beast mode on most of the new maps. I only did one but i forget which one it was. If anyone feels like playing beast on the new maps, ill be happy to join.
 
Thanks for playing tonight. That Beast ribbon was brutal.

I meant to show this in Horde, but we never got the Challenge Requirement.

If you have to execute 8 enemies, you can actually do this using only 4 infantry. Down an enemy, and then Meatshield them. That counts as one execution. Then, if you have a grenade (even a smoke), bag and tag them and it counts as a second execution.

This is awesome if you have a Lambent shield. I know you can't get them ordinarily, but in the Horde 51+ Wave plus game I was in you could. They become a mobile bomb if you were surrounded. Downside, of course, is that if your Lambent shield dies, it'll kill you in the resulting explosion.

If people need help with ribbons, message me when I'm on Live.

And if anyone else needs to do the Recruit Clayton and Savage Marauder achievement, I need those as well (and I still have a second controller so I can count as 2).
 
Its true about not being able to use the dedicated severs if you don't have the newest dlc. I was going to wait and get them when they was cheaper, but I gave in and bought them.
 
Gah, I need another 3 Ribbons, all from Beast. Those will be tricky due to how Epic changed it for the worse.

After that, it'll be up to the good people of the internet to find another XP trick for re-upping and Seriously 3.0

Yeah, thanks to 100xp, PackedOsprey, popular penguin, and Guitarman for helping out last night in Horde. It was actually so easy that it was kind of boring, hehe.

I still need to get the Minh executions, 500 rocket kills, shield reflects, and like 16 ribbons. -__-" Some of these achievements just suck.
 
Thanks to PrairieDog, PackedOsprey, SeoulCaliber & YourEvilCopy for allowing me to crash their Horde match on Escalation, last night. My 1st CAG gathering.

You guys are really good. I wanted to watch, from the 2nd to the highest landing, how you guys worked but I kept hearing tickers, boomers, and grinders coming from the top of the stairs. I know you guys had to come rescue me a few dozen times.

Thanks again, it was really fun and nice to be in a group where nobody was out their for themselves but rather working as a team for the win. Wished I could have stuck around longer.

BTW...Does it seem like Tickers aren't slowed down as much by the barriers now? I've seen Tickers come flying through the spiked barriers whereas in the past the barrriers would give me time to setup for the kill.
 
oi. I think I played 1-50 horde then 19-50 horde right after + beast and more horde after. gg both groups. thanks for letting me mash 183/500 rockets as well.

it was nice for a change to learn a couple of new tricks as well as figure out more of the locust's potential. I was waiting for jace to say, "d'man is keeping me down."

I have a few more horde ribbons to get (the last hope one I think and maybe 2 others) and I think maybe 1 more beast one as well. I'm always down for beast mode, I find it the most enjoyable out of the modes.

Haha, I think I just realized why someone gave me $5000 in horde...I gotta do that next time.
 
it's funny, I thought because I was hotdropped in at wave 19 it was just a courtesy so I could actually buy and repair stuff in my area. I said, "thank you kind sir" and then proceeded to mash and protect the silverback.
