Gears of War for PC!!!

I ran through this up to act 4 with a friend on Sunday. Friggin' sweet. Plus, I get to pad my Gamerscore with more Gears achievements. Too bad I don't really care about Gamerscore.

Turns out there are some bugs that delete your saves. It seems random. this sucks and it better not happen to me before they patch it.

why didn't they just allow save states like every other PC game under the sun.

If anyone wants to play some coop or versus, my xb/w live acct is dragonsho

I just got my new heatsink so maybe full cpu load wont be 80c so I can play safely.
more nerd porn, gears completely maxed edition (the previous pic didn't have full post-processing on):

Why was your CPU getting up to 80? What processor do you have?
I'd say no. You need a new video card.
as long as the game allows me to turn down the graphics, i can play it...with out all the pretties :) Heck that's how I am able to play CNC3 and World In Conflict. Grass? Don't need that shit... Cloud shadows? don't need that shit, Water reflection/refraction..don't need that shit. Bloom, don't need it.

It was the stock heatsink, it was junk. I just put a Zalman 9500 in it last nite and it idles at 20 and gears only pushes it to 28.

So if anyone wants to play, I should have some free time.

An Intel stock? Those aren't bad. You probably misapplied the thermal paste or something. Sounds odd.

that doesn't really make sense since the thermal paste is already applied for you

I think it had something to do with the pin on the stock cooler. All of them were locked in, but one would always push down farther, then pop back up (not completely, but enough to make me think there was something wrong with it clipping in). I'm attributing it to that and the fact that it was stock. My friend has an intel core 2 duo 2.4, and he idles at 50c and loads at 60-63.

Back on topic,
GOW looks great, don't get me wrong, but Crysis (the demo) has really spoiled me graphically. Does anyone else agree?

Huh? I don't think you know what you're talking about. It sure wasn't on mine when I put mine together.

Intel has TP already on the heatsink so you can just lay it on the CPU.

Most, or I'd assume all stock heatsinks come with TP already applied, just take off the plastic cover and slap it on :whistle2:s

Everybody get the update? It helped alot of the stuttering I was getting although it's not completely gone. For me, most of the lag occured on the new levels and the old ones run pretty well.

Runs alright on my

AMD 64 Athlon 3500+
1gb ram
7600gt 256 MB graphics card
Windows XP

Hopefully they smooth out the stuttering when loading new areas. Otherwise it runs like a champ and looks better then the 360 version :)

Sorry for double post but I'm having a problem that I can't seem to find anywhere. I've googled it and have only found problems with people's game crashing in game. Here's the problem.

I put in my gears disc. Gears run. I close it. I try open Gears an hour or two later, instant crash. No matter what, once I close it, it does not open again. The only way I can load it again is that I have to take out the disc and then put it back in. Is this a symptom of my dvd drive or just a problem with gears?

Anyone wanting to play some co op? And btw, has anyone ever seen others playing warzone and other multiplayer modes on PC?

Multiplayer seems to be completely dead... way to go, MS... this is what happens when you don't use dedicated servers like everyone wanted.

Well whatever... MS may have their heads up their asses, but I still prefer the PC version to the 360 one.

i havent had an issue with imports at go gamer. They come in the nicer dvd cases opposed to the full boxes

They still all connect to same servers right?

Yeah, they connect to the same servers and all that.

I don't buy imports (except for The Witcher) because I'm an Amurican and want to maintain purity of my collection.

darn, oh well...hopefully they get that turned around. I sold my copy for 360 due to the fact the disks were scratch prone, and made a loud noise in my 360....
Thinking of it, my 360 is ridiculously louder then my pc..
