Gears of War - General Discussion 2 - Re-release 6/24 w/Maps and Extras (No PC Stuff)

Roadie run isnt so bad when you get used to it.

Also shotgun is heavily depended on but everyone bitches about any way of killed. Honestly they are just mad that they died. You will constantly hear people bitch about being killed by:

Chainsaws
Frag Tags
Pistol Whips
Host Shotgun
Melee with sniper/torque bow/boom shot

That covers just about everything that can kill you in the game. Hell it was 2 vs 4 one time, so one of our guys did NOTHING but smoke tag every round since the sides were uneven. He didnt shoot or kill anyone, just smoke tagged for fun. The guy on the other team was seriously pissed for no reason.

Moral of the story: fuck the bitchers, get your kills how you get em.

Makes a lot of sense to me . And I just can't get enough of the "come find my room and I'll kick your ass with my host!" response at the end of matches.

I generally lose respect for people that completely rely on the shotgun. Then I just end up focusing on distance attacks and running from them so they can't get close. They often get mad and leave.

Roll.... shotty... roll...shotty.... roll... shotty...... Camp... Shotty... Camp... shotty.... roll... shotty. "Oh you must be host, congrats!"

Too many people playing that way.

That sounds like every ranked match I've played lately

It does seem like everyone gets all pissed off about any type of kill. Hit someone with a sniper rifle and they say you have no skill. Chainsaw someone and you have no skill. Shotgun someone and they say you have no skill. Frag tags are now fag tags. Hammer of Dawn is a newb weapon. Pistol whipping is for assholes. Blah, blah, blah. I agree with everyone else. Get your kills. Get your team a win. Let the losers bitch about it afterwards. I guess it's just Xbox Live and online gaming in general.

For me it's about variety. I hate playing against people that only know how to do one thing. For example, a lot of people just use the shotgun 99% of the time they play now. They just hide, charge and shotty. Rinse and repeat.

The reason I hate this, is it forces me to use the same defense the whole time, preventing me from playing variety, unless I want to lose a lot. And the fun I derive from this and most games, comes from variety. I belong to the school of thought that would rather have fun playing and losing, than finding a games "I win button" and pressing it continually.

I feel that if a player is truly good, he can win by using any weapon in any way, and constantly change it up. Few people do that, but those are the people I like playing with, and losing to.

Infact, I usually smile whenever someone kills me by shooting me with the slow-pistol-magnum (forgot it's name). I'm like "Wow, that was new".

Hmmm... something doesn't seem right. I just started playing again and decided to just go ahead and beat the single player campaign on hardcore. Well, I go to the last guy, Raam, and beat him (I have the achievement) and I'm treated to a cool video. However, there were no credits and I didn't get the achievements for beating the game. WTF?! This happen to anyone else?
Kind of suprised no one has bumped this thread bitching about the shotgun chainsaw (ie invisible chainsaw).
Is it bad in ranked matches? From the little bit I messed around with it, it just seems like instead of dieing right away after being chainsawed you die when they chose (or they die).

Are there any advantages to it?

I've seen people do it with pistols as well. I don't think I'll ever understand why anyone would want to glitch, it's not fun.

Haven't seen this yet and I have played a bunch of ranked matches lately. Mind elaborating? I'm pretty curious.

There are an incredible amount of players out there that would just press an "I WIN" button on the controller if it existed. I know, I've asked many glitchers if they would.

Basically you're able to chainsaw people with any weapon out ( Even 'nades), but after you chainsaw them they live. Once you change back to the Lancer they explode where ever they are at, or if you die they die as well.

Naw it is pretty hilarious seeing someone do it (especially if they walk the dog and turn the person down into a zombie), but it is a really crappy thing to do in a ranked match.

Best advice is to try and LB cancel. You will still die, but you should be able to have enough time to take them with you.
You'll have to endure the halo 3 beta before gears gets any new maps.
Endure? The beta is going to be a dream come true. I can't wait to play some Halo in HD glory.

May is going to be halo month. First I'll be getting halo 2 for the PC, which I think looks drastically better. Then I'll have the halo 3 beta as well.

Hi all - I'm a gears & 360 noob, just picked up a premium a week ago today. In the limited time I have available for gaming I've gotten to the part in Ashes where you first encounter a berserker.

Online co-op sounds like hella fun - do I have to start a new campaign or can I host a co-op and pick up where I currently am in my single-player campaign?

just select host co-op
halo 2 online co-op on the 360 on xbox live? thats possible?
With the other person on your system, yes. With someone on your friends list..no.
just select host co-op
sorry to require spoon-feeding, but in doing that I can continue my current game progress? I'm close to done with act one, so I'm told, and I'd like to do co-op from that point forward.

You should be able to select the last section of the first chapter after you select co-op. Then anyone can jump in the game.

It’s the ‘Hidden Fronts’ map pack and it’s dropping this Thursday, May 3, at 9 a.m. GMT
The map pack is 800 points in which you’ll get four new multiplayer maps:
Bullet Marsh: In this Kryll-infested swamp, an old generator still powers the area lights. A few stray bullets could easily knock out the generator, leaving combatants to fend for themselves against the Kryll.
Garden: This overgrown and crumbling conservatory still has a working fertilization and pesticide system. This system can pose a serious hazard to anyone who ventures into the greenhouse without first venting the air.
Process: Teams must fight for control of this subterranean Imulsion processing plant, still active despite the cessation of the Pendulum wars.
Subway: Timgad's Central Subway station used to serve as a central hub for commuters. Now the tunnels are crawling with Locust.

You can grab the pack this Thursday for 800 points or wait until Sept. 3, 2007 when all four maps will be available for free.
not only are they not free, but they're pretty expensive :(
Indeed, I wonder if MS was wanting to charge $20 for these, didn't they make a comprimise after Epic wanted them to be free.

i remember hearing that, and assuming that they would be 5 dollars. I figured MS wanted to charge 10 but Epic compromised it to 5. Who knows.

800 microsoft points = $10

I think the price point sucks, but in reality I don't think they wanted to release them on the cheap because it would hurt the perception of third party content on the system.

I will be buying them even though it pisses me off that they are forcing us to pay for them when they were going to be free.
800 microsoft points = $10
He's talking about how the maps were supposed to be $5, and that it was heard that both parties compromised to that.

Everybody knows the value of MS points ;).

vote with your wallet and hold out, otherwise you have no right to be pissed off, buying them only tells microsoft, hey do this again! I'll pay you for it!

complain all you want, as long as you plunk down the points for it, MS doesn't care what you're saying.

Anyone up for coop with me from the end of Act 1 tonight? I'm a noob, but a hardcore gamer at heart... Would love to share the experience with a fellow CAG. PM Me if so...
