There is definately host advantage.

Ask Trakan.
Sometimes I think there is and sometimes I don't. I just got blasted in one shot in the game that I hosted 3 times.

There definently is, concerning the shotgun and chainsaw at least. There were a couple occassions where I've been able to sneak up behind someone, and literally, touch them with the barrel of my shotgun, and fire, and they wouldn't die. Instead, they'd turn around, and blast me. I'd usually just stare at my TV in shock.

The chainsaw is weird too. I swear, there's times where it literally does not work.

The chainsaw is very weird, and there sometimes is a host advantage

In the last game I played, me and another guy were lighting up the host's face, almost emptying an entire clip, he doesn't die, blows me away with the shotgun, then does the same to the guy standing next to me...

as long as the host has a decent connection everything is about the same. It's no different than the other XBL games.

Anyone know when they're going to post the winners for the emergence day raffle?

ill be on from now until i go to bed, feel free to send my friend requests, or let me know if youll be on and ill send you one.

cheers

Ok.
The part where you have to kill the reavers in Act 5 is officially the biggest mutherfucking cheapass bullshit in the game. How the fuck do they expect you to take those fucking things out when you have to switch from side to side?!?!?!

Total Bullshit.

Note: Hardcore difficulty.
I do believe grenade tagging has become my favorite hobby in life.
Yes, it's quite enjoyable...

Anyone notice the amount of replies and/or views this thread has?

make a friend online.

If you must go single, the ones on the other side won't really shoot at you. and if they do, just get off the gun and shoot them with the bow. They go down in 1 hit.

I'll co-op with you anytime. It makes that part a lot easier.

Probably the only times I died on casual, were reviving him

i'd help you but i can't hop on ATM. but i do have some advice.

i just beat him earlier today [ solo | hardcore ]. i used a Bow/Sniper combo.

stay at the first baricade. shoot him with the bow, the bats [ who act like a shield ] fly away, switch to the sniper rifle and shoot him in the face a few times till the bats come back.

you can also use nades to make the bats go away.

when he gets up to the barricade, slide to the opposite side of him, then when he starts to round the corner to get you, jump over and run across to the furthest barricade.

repeat, and don't bother reviving dom.

Unfortunately,
I don't have the damned bow and can't seem to find one.
Oh well. I'll have to save it for some other time. Gotta share the only TV in the house... (These are the misfortunes of a sabbatical.)

Only 1 TV? I thought you MODS made 6 figures here. Why no VGA cables for you 360?

There are a couple (3 I think) Torque Bows on the train level. One is in a secret door on one of the carts (I forget where, but I'm positive it's there), the other is on the floor next to the ladder right before you use the two turrets to take out those incoming Reavers, and the other is on the opposite side of those same turrets in the back near a corner (pick it up after you take care of those Reavers. With those, you should have more than enough ammo to take out RAAM. Just don't use them until you reach him.

As for the last boss, I found it extremely easy (even on Insane) if you bring along the Torque Bow and the Sniper Rifle. Use a Torque arrow to get the Kryll off of RAAM, then use the sniper rifle to bust his chops. When he gets close move to the opposite side (where he started), you can stick him with a grenade when you pass him by, but just be careful. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EVEN USE THE TROIDKA TURRET since it's in the shadows. Make sure you stay in the light at all times, and keep an eye on your right and left flanks for Reavers just in case the choppers miss it. As with all levels, it's much easier if you have a buddy along with you (one has the sniper, the other uses the Torque Bow, then you guys alternate with the lancer and provide blind fire support).

This is my 3rd attempt at a Gears of War card, my first 2 weren't that great.

It's pretty damn good. I would suggest using a clearer font and maybe cut away the extra red parts on the sides.

anyone expect any deals on GoW on Black Friday?? if not, i guess i'll just go to FRY's tomorrow and get it for $49.99 since thats the cheapest deal currently avaialable

Being that it is a very new game and that it's selling like crazy, I wouldn't expect a deal on BF for it.

Thanks for the tips but I chose the font and the extra red parts to go with the "destroyed beauty" theme.

There's a bow next to the right-side weapons locker right before you fight Raam

I haven't had a multi-player experience get my heart pumpin' as much as this title has.

I can't express in words how satisfying it is to go flat against a tomb stone and wait for an unsuspecting opponent to run past you, rev that chainsaw and cut them to bits.

Really, you guys need to play this on Hardcore. The checkpoint system is so frequent, that even if you die a thousand times like me, you won't get frustrated.

You will, however, get frustrated resuscitating that son of a bitch baby Dom.
anyone else think the Corpser was too easy on Hardcore?
Not really. The corpser isn't meant to be really difficult, more of a puzzle.

I guess you are right. Playing on Hardcore, the enemies are fun/challenging, that I had expectations for the "bosses" in the game.

Also I might have to add that the last part of Act 4 was by far the most annoying. I can't even remember how many times I played the last 2 sections.

Added this to the op:

Message from Mark Rein VP of Epic

The reaction to Gears of War has been better-than-outstanding. We’re extremely happy that everyone seems to love the game! More Gears of War multiplayer content and functionality is on the way.
It has become pretty clear to us all that Gears of War will undoubtedly be the biggest selling game in Epic’s 15-year history. With a game that has such a wide appeal it is also clear to me that we’re touching a lot console gamers who have never experienced what it is like to buy a game made by Epic Games.
Console customers, for the most part, are used to buying a game and that being, pretty much, the end of what they can expect for that game. That’s not how Epic Games works. We have a long-term history of supporting our games well after release. Since the very first Unreal Tournament game we have had a track record of excellent post-release support.
We’re going to support Gears of War and we’re going to make improvements and enhancements for it.
Right now we don’t have an exact release plan for this but we’re absolutely listening to you, our customers. Keep posting in this forum. Let us know if you find any problems. Let us know what you love and what you don’t love about the game. We’ll do out best to keep you happy playing Gears of War for years to come!

It's true though, they did release more game types and a lot more maps for UT2k4 long after it was released. It was all free at the time, but sadly I'm sure they will charge for the content now.

So I guess CliffyB wants a Lamborghini to go along with his newly bought Ferrari. Awesome.

(In all seriousness, I actually appreciate that they're gonna put more stuff into the game provided the pricing is agreeable.)

As long as the content adds value to the game I don't mind paying a little bit for it. If it's just a Mega Man costume for Fenix though I think I'll pass.

I also had a problem with the torque bow not showing up on the train car before you fight Raam. I suggest you guys go to the Campaign menu and load the last act and the last chapter (Pale Horse) if you guys are having that problem, it will start you off inside the train car immediately before you fight Raam. Also, the ammo regenerates over time so after you pick up the ammo you can wait a little bit until the ammo respawns so both you and your partner can go into it with maxed out sniper/torque bow ammo

I think everyone that says we'll only be getting multiplayer stuff for dlc are fools.

We will definitely see single player dlc too. Because every one of us, and most that bought the game, will buy it. I would not be surprised to see episodic content.

It's just a simple question: Does Epic like money?

Weird ass bug found!

You know the part where you have to push the car? Theres a locust on the troika i think its act II. So I was pushing the car and it went all the way forward. I kept on dying so i go to push the car again and it stops half way. It wouldn't let me push it any further, so I kept on jamming X and it pushed the car over and flipped it. He was pushing air too as it flipped there was no car. Freaking crazy...

does anyone have any tips for the last Reaver section in Act 5?

I find that the chain guns are useless (hardcore difficulty) because of the number of reavers and how far the guns turn. I tried to snipe behind the crate but found that it had mixed results.

This same exact glitch happened to me today also on the same part. I thought maybe a body or one of teammates was in the way but no nothing. I also kept pressing the X button and soon the car was almost flipped on his top side. Another weird glitch that happened today was when I was fighting the corpser in Act III and when the wretches show up they just kept getting stuck in the back corner. They would move but when they did it just looked like they were jumping on each others heads. Then when another wretch dropped down the image kind of stretched on the wretch and when I killed it it went back to its regular form.
