anyone else think the Corpser was too easy on Hardcore?
zola and i died at least 3 times trying to figure out how to kill the corpser. second time through on insane mode, corpser took us 20 seconds max.

couple of questions. as far as i can tell GoW doesn't support parties or clans. I think there was some mention of a clan earlier in the thread. Frankly I'm pretty disappointed with the multiplayer right now.

Sitting out after you die can take forever if someone camps like a pussy. I couldn't find any good ranked matches and the unranked matches are often lopsided. People who play a lot team up and just destroy the other team.

The only real good experiences I've had with the multiplayer are with other CAGs.

Mark Rein is definetly right there. They've always supported thier games through to the end. I just hope they take a more PC model and don't charge for some of the added content.

they should have put the multiplayer game types and options as well as matchmaking in the game to begin with.

it not that hard to make a CTF, or assault mode with the game already made and i dont think they were pinching for time
Weird ass bug found!

You know the part where you have to push the car? Theres a locust on the troika i think its act II. So I was pushing the car and it went all the way forward. I kept on dying so i go to push the car again and it stops half way. It wouldn't let me push it any further, so I kept on jamming X and it pushed the car over and flipped it. He was pushing air too as it flipped there was no car. Freaking crazy...
if gone through the same bug... had to retry that part like a bunch of fucking times

They didn't want CTF.
They didn't want CTF.
I wonder why...the game is well suited for it. They achieved that paintball feel they were going for, and paintball is pretty much all about CTF.
why that shit would be sick
Because CliffyB didn't want you to play GoW like other shooters. He wants you to play it the way he envisioned it to be played.

Probably just because if it had little games like CTF, it would get compared a lot more to other games that have CTF, and they are trying hard to label themselves as something entirely new as any other shooter.

But what is so revolutionary about "kill the other team until they're all dead"? That and "protect the VIP".

Nothing. I'm just saying that perhaps the logic was "Well we obviously need to have deathmatch multiplayer since that's a staple of all games. But lets keep the little standard mini-games out of it that will make it quickly compared to quake, halo, and cod."

They have hinted they are going to be expanding the multiplayer. Perhaps they are coming up with something original.
Yes you can get them on the same X360, doesn't have to be over XBL.
Gah, thanks I must've missed you answering my question because of the size of the thread.
Ok, how do you defeat RAAM who is on the train? I only have a sniper and the normal chainsaw gun.
Make sure you stay in the light, hit RAAM in the head when the Kryll leave him, and watchout for the Reavers on either side (take the reavers down with the normal gun)

You can get the kryll to fly away from him by hitting him with a torque bow or throwing a grenade near him. And when they leave, shoot him in the head with a sniper rifle. Also, I didnt even bother shooting the reavers and they didnt seem to shoot at me.

yeah that happened to me while playing COOP, just reload that chapter.
Do we need a tutorial on how to use the spoiler tag?
I think we're good ;)

Thanks for the tips also....how many shots does it take to take RAAM down?

oh and I don't think CTF would make much sense in this game. It would just turn out to be a Team Deathmatch anyways where one team takes out the other. Respawns would totally ruin the game as well. Since someone can just camp out at the respawn location. since it's only 4 v 4. I mean respawning after getting chainsawed?

Not to mention that since the maps are so small, respawns would pretty much put you smack back in the middle of the action immediately. The flag would never get out of the middle of the map.

that message from epic can come off as being snobby, but I get where they are comming from. Glad to hear continued support.

on a note for help: how the fuck do you kill general Raam?

Concerning those who need help killing RAAM.

Stay behind the first piece of cover the game puts you at. Using the sniper rifle, get some good headshots on him, whenever his kryll go away, before he finally reaches you. When he reaches you, make a mad dash for the other end of the train. There is another piece of cinder block, similar to the one you were just hiding behind, with plenty of light to protect you from the kryll. When you can, get on the chaingun, literally about 1 or 2 hits will kill him. On insane, you have to do alot more damage to him before the chaingun will kill him. If you're playing on insane, use grenades, headshots, and the torque bow or your lancer to do damage before you reach the chain gun.

huge thanks. I didn't even know you could hurt him with the
kryll surrounding him

Err.

You can't. Sorry I didn't make that clear. You CAN however, make the Kryll go away if you throw a grenade at him

LOL!

Rein is right about one thing - Epic is awesome at providing add-on content long after the game is out...usually for free, but I wonder if MS will try to bend their arm a little so they can sell more points.

Funny that you mention that. I forget who it was, but Major Nelson talked to someone from Epic. He mentioned that they will try their absolute best to make whatever content they release free for gamers to download. However, he made mention that Microsoft may have a hand in their pricing decision.

They released add ons for UT2K4 up until like 2 years after the game was out, so hopefully they do the same for Gears.

Hopefully some new modes come out, or they steal some from UT. Bombing run or assault would be pretty cool to play.

god dambit microsoft you better not make them charge for it. In a way i can kinda see how ps3 not having a unified online service is a good thing. They don't have to put up with a bunch of microsoft/sony crap

I finally got my copy today. I had a great time playing in co-op with my brother but I wasn't able to play any multiplayer because it would never let me join any lobbies.

Anyone else having problems with ranks and achivements?

I could have sworn I've won atleast once on every map in ranked mode to unlock the "Around the world" achivement, yet nothing has happended.

I'm sure this has also been mentioned in the 10238 pages of posts (sorry I didnt read everyone of them) but everytime someone "drops" from a match, the final result will not tally up my ranking. This sucks, but I'm also wondering if I can still get the headshot, chainsaw, etc. achivements? Becuase I noticed I only have about a dozen curbings, when I have PLENTY more where people quit/left early to ruin the rankings.
does anyone have any tips for the last Reaver section in Act 5?

I find that the chain guns are useless (hardcore difficulty) because of the number of reavers and how far the guns turn. I tried to snipe behind the crate but found that it had mixed results.
I didn't have much trouble with that part on Hardcore using the chain gun on the right side full-time. I just blasted the chain gun at them when I could aim at them and when they were outside of the chain gun's aim, they usually couldn't hit me.
What exactly is considered an execution?
when theyre dbno you shoot them in the head with the pistol.

Thanks GenDV. I finally beat that Reaver section. I used a combination of chain-gun on one side of the train and then switched over to sniper rifle tactics.

Does anyone know if...

A) I can go back and select only Act 1 to beat on Hardcore, without having to play the entire Hardcore difficulty over again? I changed settings after Act 1 and I want the Hardcore achivements for Act 1.

B) If beating Act 1 on Insane will unlock the Casual Achievements for that Act.

Thanks! This game rules. :)

You can load just Chapter 1 starting on hardcore, yes. Just select the first checkpoint and finish the chapter. Beating the acts on Insane will unlock the casual achievements, yes.

Well I just finished it up on Hardcore yesterday. Beating Acts 4 and 5 on hardcore w/o any help in co-op is really a nice achievement. Pretty much all of Act 4 and the end of Act 5 can hum my nuts. Really great game overall. It has a few flaws but it is just so much fun to play. I usually don't play thru games multiple times except for my absolute favorites. I will for sure go back and play thru this again. And then start the waiting process for the inevitable sequel. :applause:

Finished the game on Casual last night because I'm a big sissy.

Then, got in a First To 19 Execution ranked match that lasted over an hour. Honestly, it was full of people I've never played with before but it was easily the best time I've ever had playing an online game.

Oh great 100 pts for a video! Looks like maybe I was too hard on EA for this crap before. I have a feeling Microsoft is behind all of this pricing crap. What a joke. I hope no one buys this garbage. I love the Marketplace but it isn't a good sign that it took less than 1 full year for it to already be exploited by some of these money-hungry pricks.
