Yeah, I just tried to frag tagged someone and I ended up tagging myself, even though I clearly hit him.

Not fixed. You should get the tag if you're standing RIGHT NEXT to the person you're trying to tag. Besides, if somebody tries to tag you, just take out your shotgun and kill them.
 
No worries about the update, we can still do ranked matches the way we used to. My only problem is that I can't trash talk people on the other teams when I am still alive at the end of the round and they aren't.
 
Honestly, I usually play ranked matches by myself. The only person I've played them with is rabbitt.

Yes you can, the update added that in. (Or it might have been a glitch in the game I was playing)

Yeah, well soon you should add someone else into the mix.

And honestly, how hard is it going to be for those that want to do ranked together, to pick the aspects of the match out prior to setting it up, and telling your friends exactly when you set it up. And all they have to do is look for the map, and then process of elimination.

Yeah, well soon you should add someone else into the mix.

I quite often don't have the chainsaw work when it obviously should. Or a shotgun gib when it obviously should. Or even curb stomps are really wonky. I have no problem with the easiest instant kill in the game being "wonky".

And I hear that "Pull out the shotgun if someone comes at you with frag grenades" all the time. Well pre-patch the grenade tagging range was actually further away than the shotgun gibbing range. So in order to take out a tagger (usually) with the shotty, it often requires two solid shots at just the right timing.

Last night I was playing 2 hours with a guy, and I am not exagurating, he went for grenades and frag tagged every single round. EVERY round. If someone got grenades before him, he'd hide and run until they respawned. It got really annoying. And I got the chance to try all types of tactics to stop him. I stopped him often enough, but the frequency of him being able to tag me before I could gib him was far too annoying.

so far these are my observations...

People still stack teams. I have been in rooms where clans ask me to move sides thus I quit the game before it starts. I still wish I could tell who host is.

Grenade tags still work like they used to for me. Same with the chainsaw. You can hit people fairly easy from a decent distance away.

I like the lobby better outside the host thing. I like being able to tell how good the connection is before actually going in.

Maybe it's not a glitch, we could all talk to each other inbetween rounds again in a different game, with different people.
 
It seems broken to me for a completly different reason... I can't get in a game. Every game that is listed for me has 1 red line and everytime i join one it gives me a connection error. I went through the xbox live connection test and I have Open on NAT. Is anyone else having this problem, I am wondering if it may just be the amount of people online, becuase i am also only getting 1-7 games listed at a time not the usual 10-20.
 
Well you can still play ranked with friends. All people are doing now what I said before: Sending voice msgs telling them how many rounds and the map, and people are just searching every game in hopes of finding that person. It doesnt take too long to do if you host odd numbered round maps. Only disadvantage is you don't know who the host is anymore.

We've got it down to where we never enter the wrong room.
 
Can't wait for the new maps. Hopefully they add another type of multiplayer online later on since it is really limited. I added a bunch of you guys also so if you wonder who that is it is me. :bouncy:
 
Yeah ranked matches are still broken. Still stacked. I will continue having fun with the player match. No real point in playing stacked broken ranked matches.
 
I don't care either way if people cheat by stackingsince I don't care much about rankings. But since it takes more effort the occurance of it happening will go down so i'm all down with that.

So far though matches seem to have more random hodgepodge of people which is what ranked matches should be all about.

Player matches for me is gonna be for split screen with a friend which is the only way I typically play gears anyway.

One thing though it seems the chainsaw glitches were not fixed. I was being chainsawed last match but I was able to move around and revive a teamate before I got completely sawed. The List of matches are reduced too, I'm not sure if that's due to the new more stricter browser algotithm or just less people on now.

I mostly get blank ones and red ones too. Every 3-4 games I get some yellow and green.
 
What the hell is so wrong with playing in a ranked match with your friends? I don't understand the complaints, because most of the rooms I've come across that have friends all on a team suck. I honestly think people are trying to pick apart this game for no reason, except just to bitch. Doing this is not cheating, it's not against the rules, and it doesn't give one side an advantage that the other can't overcome. It's simply the smartest and the most enjoyable way to do ranked matches.

If it wasn't against the rules, why are they trying to make it difficult for you to do so with every patch? Yes it gives one side an advantage many times and your stance on it being the most enjoyable way to do ranked matches is your own opinion and obviously not the opinion of the developers. After all what the hell do they care, you already bought the game.

On the other side I don't get the complaints about the changes because you guys can still play in player matches that function virtually the same except that people can join in and they arent ranked. But if you're playing with friends, why should you care anyway? It's for fun after all?
 
I have no problem with stacking teams. You stack yours and I'll stack mine and we will go at it. Or I was just attempt to take you all on. :) Afterall this is a team based game I always thought it was cool that you could get your buds together or those guys that play really well and work as a team. Now you can do that in Player matches sure but lets face it they are never as serious unless you get 8 guys that are into it which can and does happen. Im going to miss playing with a well organized team in ranked but oh well its they way they want it and they are in charge so that is the way it is I suppose. But why not make this decision from the beginning or why let you pick from a scroll of choices at all? Why not just pick your custom match and it sets you up with a reandom one such as in Halo or something?
 
Can anyone tell me why I suck so hard at this game? I played it the day after I got it for 15 minutes, and couldn't get past the first enemies stage on the first training level. I couldn't kill a single one, set on the easiest mode.

I'm kinda afraid to play it again, and not like it. Hope that makes sense.

That's what I don't get either. These people are too good for player matches. I am perfectly happy with them. But for some reason they are hell bent on ranked matches, and to circumvent the weak system put in place to insure random players.

that would be me... my xbox live gamertag used to be m1c13 but as soon as I got the chance to change it I did. I still don't see how you could have around 350 points in one match when I only had 90 but thats cool.

It seems like the chainsaw's became more powerful after the patch. Before I used to be able to stop someone at close range by shooting at them with the shoty, now it locks it up everytime with any gun.

And that's fine. Everyone I personally know that plays, only plays player matches. Very good players too. It's sad that you will never get to play against legions of good players, because they simply boycot ranked for the same reason I do.
And I find it interesting you and your friends find fodder to kill in ranked matches and still feel it's a challenge.

You can just go to the marketplace and download them. As far as I know, no 360 game has made you get it through the game.

How do you know we find fodder if you yourself said you barely played ranked? Just cut the argument already. The people you know arent the only good people in this game man. Not only do i love playing ranked with friends but i like playing "stacked" games on the other end. As a matter of fact the only person ive added from GoW to my friends list was a guy who was with me against a stacked team and we kept going at them like 4 maps in a row, thats right we chose to. So lets stop it on this end since you dont get us and we dont get you. Agree to disagree.

By the way, ever since downloading the patch, my Custom Match list of games is shit compared to what it was before. I see the same hosts over and over and I don't want to join those same ones. What's up with that?
 
I haven't been able to connect to almost any games I try to join ever since I downloaded the patch. Every game either shows one bar or a question mark just shows up. I swear Epic just made a good game worse. I was able to connect to 2 games out of the 10 I tried.

Agreed. I don't even like the multiplayer that much (I totally suck), but I really liked playing on Raven Down. It felt like what Gears multiplayer should be.

Btw, anyone notice it being a lot easier to chainsaw people now?
