I get sick of shield abuse too but it's still a really fun game to play online. Grif ball is probably my favorite multiplayer thing out of anything on Xbox Live.
There was one dude who entirely ruined it for me because he had the timing of going back for shield respawn down... I never made it out of the "training camp" levels when it came to online.

Really? That's sad, man.. You missed out. I'm sure you probably would've at least liked some of the other match-types where shield isn't as much of an annoyance.

Have you ever played any of the game variants? I think Infection has some of the best.

Is Halo ODST good? I had a 360 a long time ago and played Bioshock, Crackdown and I have Castle Crashers and Braid. I was reading that Halo ODST has halo 3 too?I also used to see people getting Xbox live 12 months for $30. Is that still available?

I love Resistance. I can't wait to finish it and pick up the second one down the road. Meanwhile, my 24 hour break from SFIV is still in effect. Thinking of popping in Valkyria Chronicles when I'm off duty tonight... just to get playing it out of my system ;)

Resistance 2 killed pretty much all uniqueness present in R1's singleplayer campaign.

Has some fantastic co-op though.

The co-op was the game's redeeming factor.

It has the Halo 3 multiplayer but not the Halo 3 single player/coop campaign.

Never got out of basic training, so no.
How do you "abuse" the shield?
In theory, the same way people "abuse" the tactical knife/lightweight/marathon/commando combo or akimbo 1887s in MW2. Or people abused the smoke/stun grenades in Gears 2.

Not exactly the same, since it's a pickup vs a loadout thing, but still, I didn't know the map at all, I was just getting familiar with the game, and I bet this guy was using a "new" gamertag, since he seemed to know all about everything. He'd go over to where the shield was, grab it, kill any other newbies in the general area, and when he knew his shield was winding down and it would respawn, he camped the shield spawn point. Rinse and repeat,. After I figured out why I was having so much trouble killing his ass, I managed to interrupt his plans some of the time, but by then, I couldn't be bothered to put any more time in it to get out of basic training, since it wasn't fun to me.

That's pretty much all online multiplayer in FPS though. There are strategies that work, and you have to put in the time to recognize them and how to counter them (and use them yourself) if you're going to have any fun.

I'm not fan of Halo's MP--but not for those type of reasons as those are present in all online FPS I've played. I just don't like FPS MP where it takes a ton of shots to kill someone. I prefer games like COD that are more realistic in the amount of bullets a person can take.

People may abuse the knife or shotguns in MW2, but at least if I see them first and am playing well, I have a chance against them.

In Halo, I felt like once the guy had the shield, I was done for... everytime I ran across him, I would die, didn't matter if I saw him first and unloaded on his blindside or anything, he'd turn and the extra armor/shield/whatever pretty much made him the defacto winner.

Prepare for disappointment.

I need to go and finish Mario & Luigi 3 or Lost Odyssey. I'll probably go with Mario & Luigi because I'm on my brother's 360 right now.

So, I completely forgot about the Samurai DLC pack that was supposed to come with Tekken 6 pre-order from Amazon and that I never received it. No big deal on their part, but I just got my code from Amazon along with a $5 gift card for the delay, nice!

Almost done with Resident Evil 2, and Rock Band PSP if fun!

I don't know man... the videos I've seen of fighting that giant monster make the game look incredible. Of course I don't intend to buy it until it's either at or around $20 or there is another b2g1.

Also getting really frustrated with Monster Hunter :bomb:

I really liked the first game... I got in the MP beta and was annoyed by what little I played... then everyone I talked to who had played it talked about how unpolished and terrible it was... like it was rushed out the door even though it wasn't ready.

Crunch time in college sucks... No times to play all these video games.

Only one more semester though...

The hour here and there I've been able to into MW2 have been fantastic though.

I'll second that.

No time for games tonight :whistle2:\

I may try and squeeze in a few matches in SFIV before bed. At work currently though... nothing going on... perfect for getting a jump on the rest of this week's homework.

I really enjoyed the first game. One of my favorite FPS games. The second one on the otherhand takes everything that was good about the first game and removes it. It becomes just another generic FPS.

I enjoyed the first game enough to play an assload of multi and to get every skillpoint in the game. I was very disappointed to hear the reviews of the second. :S

Jumped back into Eternal Sonata on dat tripple. Fun times.

How does the difficulty of NG Sigma 2 stack up against NGS 1? Cause, NGS1 is kicking my ass.

Oh, and finally got around to putting up a new "Best/Worst of the GGT" blog. I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Now that we're back to doing 500-post threads again, maybe things will get back to as good as they were. It seems nowadays that the GGT isn't nearly as fun as it used to be. Maybe someone should start a fight or something.
WELL... it only took MW2 MP two weeks(?) to turn to hell. Only playable modes are Merc. games. Sad...
What's wrong with MP?

I'm noticing people are a lot better and a few double shotgun spammers, but nothing too bad. Better than Gears of War online.

My vow is to buy no new games(or used, as in no games are purchased by me for one year) until December 1st 2010.

I don't know if I can do this, but I want to try. I want to save up for a new car, and etc.

Exclusions are: games given as gifts - games purchased entirely through trading.

I hope to ask for pre-orders on Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, and FFXIII for christmas, and that'll get me through the beginning of the year.. But I dunno, we'll see.

Joined 4 different FFA matches and in EACH one had 2-6 people working together and just powering through to get a nuke. And in each objective mode I play, everyone just avoids the objective and yells if anyone tries to do anything. Plus, there are a bunch of people exploiting and doing challenges. Also, 1v1 is non-existent which is a mode that I enjoy. All it is, is "Challenges?" + quit.

I commented on the blog. Nothing super, but props on a nice blog.

Not too worried about the quality of Resistance 2 btw. I'm not going to jump into it for quite some time, and by then, I'm just gonna want to see how the story unfolds.

I think I'm gonna fire up my PSP and play some LittleBigPlanet in a bit. And I learned how to program my coffee maker. Tomorrow morning is gonna be a good one I think.

I miss the old GGT so much T.T

Just finished watching that Wolverine movie. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

Now for some Etrian Odyssey II. The perfect game before sleep.

Changing Video Game Cases Go For The Green

Who's bright idea was to risk damaging the discs with 75% vulnerability at the back? They should ditch manuals to cut costs; any competent game should have a 'controls' menu and if people want more lore on their game, just read its Wikipedia entry.

Team Deathmatch seems to work fine for me. :twoguns:

Got 'The Harder They Fall' tag last night

That's only because you have assburger's.

It seems to work fine for me and everyone else on my PS3 friends list.

Wal-Mart is responsible for that. Also, :br: movies have had this infection for at least a year.

To be fair to Krymner, he said "as bad". We don't know what his initial expectations were.

Still, though, this is your first warning, Krym.

Motherfuckers should just stop using so much goddamn plastic in their stupid ass blister packs then. :bomb: It's not like you buy a game then throw the case away. Stupid.

Yeah, I think it's silly too, but I've just been swapping out new games for older ones with the sturdy cases, ones that I won't pick up for a while. A blockbuster was going out of business here and selling the green clear cases for 25 cents apeice and I picked up some, for replacements.

I haven't had any probs iwth MW2 multiplayer, I guess I'm lucky. Most people just play that I am matched up with.

Hardcore Headquarters is awesome.

Wish I could do this. I'd like to really.

I already have this large order of games at 30% off for 2010 though......

You technically placed the order in 2009. ;) I know it won't charge til 2010... but you placed the order in 2009. It's a loophole. Take it.

I do miss the old GGT (fuck the quote button). I used to love sitting in my study hall at the end of the day and reading through the 5+ posts accumulated over the day and laughing my ass off at you stupid stupid people.
WOW, WHAT THE fuck ECA.

Yep. They went from what seemed like a legit organization with just a shitty website and bad management to a shady group.
