Does the PS3 support 1440x900? I was thinking about ordering an hdmi->dvi adapter.
Nope. Just the standard HDTV resolutions. I've used my PS3 at 720p with my LCD monitor, and it looked pretty good. It has a decent scaler.

So it won't look like shit?

Me and My Katamari is way better than people realize. It's basically the hardcore gamer version of the series. Underated due to controls. Still not as good as the original.

I also don't see how We

Oh shit Zew, when did that Katamari iPhone app come out?
Can't resist it.
Cool. Do you remember off hand what other stuff is in there?

I really like Home. I've had a lot of fun in it so far. Especially playing pool. However, I hope that the final version has a lot more things to do / places to go. And avatar/apartment customization options of course.
Wow, you sincerely like it? I thought you were joking. I don't mind it myself either.

Well, I'll pop in next time I see you on it.

I don't mind home, I just don't expect more than what is available. I'm still surprised at how strong the debate over the value of Home is going on the PS3 threads.

oh and all you nintendo kiddies:

Also, is 3G not working for you?

I keep getting Edge only since last night.
My co-worker was only getting Edge.
Wonder if it's out in DFW.

No, you can register whenever.
Looks like it's down right now.
Dallow, that Katamari app slow down a lot. Almost to the point of making it unplayable.
Dang, cause the pictures are really clean.
I did expect slowdown though, like some of the other 3D games. Thanks.

No joking here. I dig it. I had a good game of bowling with a nice group of civilized people who talked about upcoming games, did a few games of pool, customized my apartment a little (very little since all I can figure out to do is move stuff), danced in the music area, played the saucer pop thing, etc.

Yeah, it's not a game, but it's kinda fun to interact with real people like that.
I had a few laughs. I met a cool Canadian and Norwegian guy.

When you start a level it looks and plays great, but near the end it really drags.
Still, 360 version is pure ass.
You've never even played it, Jer.

dallow, Katamari came out within a couple of days. It has some slow down, but the graphics are impressive for the phone so it's to be expected.

I've been gettin' 3G all day today.

Beautiful Katamari is superb. I freaking love it.
Lets see, before the end of the year, the 2008 games I need to finish/start are:
MGS4**
LittleBigPlanet
Gears Of War 2
Dead Space**
Lost Odyssey**
Tales Of Vesperia
Lego Batman

**-need to start :)

All I know are these:

XBLA GOTY:
Castle Crashers

SPORTS GOTY:
NHL09

Dang.

Nintendo needs to remake kung fu.

do you get points for all the shit you've registered with nintendo for the club? I don't wanna put all that shit in again.

I'm bored. I guess I'll start Persona 4. Hopefully it's good and not like SMT: Devil Summoner.

The PS Double was one of the best systems this year... assuming you're cool enough to import shit. This has been the seventh straight year of that being the case.

I still don't like this gen of gaming to be honest. The only thing I like this gen has to offer is digital downloads, and that's it. retail games can suck my dong for all I care.

at least last gen the retail games seemed to feel right somehow unlike retail games of now.
I disagree. I've really enjoyed this gen.

Or at least, the 360.
Same here. I've had the most fun with the 360 than I have with any console since the 360.

Games like Bioshock, Gears of War 1&2, Mass Effect, Oblivion, Orange Box, Call of Duty 4 etc. etc. are among the best I've played in my 25 or so years of gaming. Add in X-box Live, HD graphics, Netflix streaming etc. etc. and the 360 has just been a great time for me.

I'm still more casual about gaming than most here, but it's a big step up from the latter part of last gen when I was about ready to just quit gaming and not buy any next gen consoles.

But at the same time, I've gotten huge into FPS and western RPGs, so I could see how this generation could be a bit underwhelming for fans of Japanese style games etc.

Dunno why it gets all the hate... it was pretty good... felt almost like a 360 port of We

Whoops. No Persona 4 for me! My TV is fucked.

Guess I'll have to use the TV downstairs or something. Goddamnit, I'm having the worst luck this week.

I don't like this gen because I feel developers/publishers are REALLY nickel and diming people through downloadable content, especially on XBL with stupid themes (Most of which are now obsolete) and gamerpics (sorta obsolete).

As far as game DLC, map packs are the norm more often than not, which is bullshit, and exlcusive DLC for one system for multiplatform games gives me the feeling of them saying 'if you don't buy 'Version A' you're stupid'.
that makes me wonder, what is Reggie's ethnicity?
Reginald "Reggie" Fils-Aimé

Sounds French to me.

Goddamn cheese-eatin' surrender monkeys!!!

Doesn't really bother me as stuff like themes and gamepics are pointless anyway, and you have to be a fool to pay for that kind of crap.

As for game DLC, I don't mind it. A lot of the map packs are overpriced, but otherwise I like being able to extend a game with new songs, full expansions (Oblivion), etc. A lot of it is useless and over price, but there's plenty of good DLC.

Exclusive DLC is no more annoying that exclusive third party games were in the past. We just need a one console future--competition over game sales would be enough to keep the good games rolling. Well it could be one HD/advanced tech game console and one whatever the hell Nintendo is doing I suppose.

Two systems is the right number. I've always had my doubts that 3 major players could survive in the industry.

I doubt that all 3 will ever have a profitable generation simultaneously.

Haiti was colonized by the French. Feez-ah-may.
I'm actually looking forward to whatever gen of systems will be entirely HDD based.
I'm not, just because I get most of my games off Goozex, and ditch most on there after beating them.

Convenience would be nice, but the lack of resell, trading etc. would suck. I'd probably still game, but I'd be even more focused on only playing the absolute cream of the crop than I already am.

Agreed. And it really needs to be two very different consoles--like the Wii and the 360/PS3 this gen (if the latter was one console). It's just silly having 2 or more consoles offering the same type of gaming. They lose money on hardware--Sony and MS should team up on hardware to split costs and focus on making money on game sales. It will never happen though. They'll stay seperate or one will fail and leave the game industry.
I think after this gen whatever the next systems that come out, one will die.
I do like to see a hardy serving of doom. Hell, I wouldnt mind it at all if Nintendo went full portable after WiiHD tanks.

I hate buying a game and having companies hit me up for some DLC.

Imagine if DLC, themes, and gamerpics were free if you bought the game, as a way of saying "Thanks for giving us $60!"

Gaming is getting to be too much about money. Yeah I know it's a business. That's the problem. The love is gone.

Maybe if the business model was actually viable they wouldnt have to do that to you. Though to be fair, if they couldve done this to you 10 or 20 years ago, you better bet your ass they would. The infrastructure and the technology wasnt up to par yet.

I guess the main reason is most of the DLC is useless. There's not too much of the "horse armor" crap these days. And that kind of crap is easy enough ot just pass on.

And I like DLC that is worthwhile--full expansions, new songs etc. etc. It keeps me playing a game longer for much less than the cost of a new game--so I like that aspect of DLC.

Just ignore the nickel and diming, buy the worthwhile DLC and enjoy it. Solves the problem of feeling annoyed and sends the message that only the worthwhile stuff is worth your money.

Definitely. MS was salivating at the mere thought of microtransactions.

Yeah, only buy the good shit and hopefully the bad shit will go away.

I'm just used to PC games and DLC how it used to be. I have 2 GB of community maps that Epic put out for UT2K4 for free, for example.

Good evening, GGT. Drinking wine and reading NeoGAF :whee: I had an epiphany earlier today where I realized that console gaming (specifically 360 gaming) has all but turned into what PC gaming used to be, with lots of FPSes (which I used to like back when all the good/big-name ones needed a keyboard) and WRPGs (which I just can't get into). No wonder I like the Wii so much. Well, ever since the Dragon Quest X announcement slipped out, I like it even more...

Speaking of Nintendo platforms, does anyone here have Korg DS-10? I'm seriously considering picking it up, since I want a synthesiser to mess around with and Electroplankton's kind of limited in that regard.

I don't have it, but I did try it out and it was cool. Much more fully-featured than I would've expected. But it's one of those things where you'll need to read the manual for sure. Because it's not simple.
