My buddy from Oregon is in town so last night we played SW:TFU, a little Fable II (with the LE key I got free from MS--w00t), and Gears 2 co-op. Good times...

Forgot to mention that I didn't do any gaming on Friday because (at one point) the entire island of Oahu had a power outage. Electrical storm damaged some lines and those areas became unstable. Since we don't really have a "grid" so to speak, the system just shut everything down as a safety measure.

Only people with generators/backups (like Obama) weren't in the dark. My area was powerless for a good 8 hours or so.

I just got back from the B2G1 at Gamespot.

So I now have Fallout 3, Gears 2, CoD:WaW, Burnout:paradise, Bully, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Devil May Cry 4. All to play.
Hey guys, look, it's me! :D
You been gone a long time

Played Left 4 Dead for four and a half hours last night. Good times.

What I got today from GS for $110 in credit:

Persona 4
Lost Odyssey
Burnout Paradise
Tomb Raider: Anniversary

I got so much gaming goodness I don't even know what to do. :D

Excellent choices.

I got $69 for some blockbuster flips...I wanna play RE:UC again so badly (i dunno why, but I love that game) but I have so much else to play its not even funny. and the Wii has no games, of course.

I think I'll hold on to the credit until something pops out.

wow... puerto rican food is not healthy... but damn good. i'm genna be back in the states with some extra pounds i'm guessing >_<

played some more suikoden on psp last night. glad to say i still like it.

Progress was made today!

Parts were ordered today! Thanks LizardLick! I hope my button holes don't end up being too close together. I followed the template pretty exactly, my dad's small engine shop has some pretty awesome equipment for getting this done. A digital readout with the drill press for measuring hole placement worked really well. Just gotta wait for the joystick to get here to drill out a square for the housing to sit in.

I got All white Sanwa 30mm buttons and a white ball top Sanwa JLF-TP-8 joystick! Sweet! Going to put some bitchin Chun Li art on there eventually too.

Thats a nice panel Jer, that button layouts kinda funky though, I think most people use the rightmost 6 buttons.

Shouldn't be a big deal either way, nice work.

im hopefully getting the TE SFIV stick!
though i have no idea what i'll use it for other than fighting games and even then i suck at those

I'm excited -- my Hori stick should be here soon and I have a bunch of shit I want to try with it:

SSFIITHDR
MK vs. DCU
Soul Calibur IV
Rez
Ikaruga
Pacman CE
Castle Crashers

I'm sure there's more...
Robotron and Joust wouldn't be bad with it probably either...

Basically, everything that's a fighting game or XBLA. 8D

The example layout on slagcoin.com used the left 6 buttons in his templates. It "feels" right with the buttons like that. I was worried the stick is too close, but that can always be moved over, since all you're doing is making a 2 inch square in the wood for it to sit in.

I can see myself playing lots of Super Turbo now and that stick probably will only end up costing around $80-90 for the parts. $60 of that is the sanwa parts. They aren't cheap.
The pain!

:(

I have more sticks than ppl have games.

It's not fair, I want ppl to love the sticks like I do.

No homo... maybe.
Sell me a stick for cheap.

I hope I appreciate buying this over the $40 360 Hori VF5 EX2 stick.

MarkMan I heard SF4 is not using GGPO netcode? Is that true? After it worked so well on Super Turbo, I don't see why they would not be using it, unless it wasn't in there from the beginning and that would take a lot of work to reverse?

They are not using GGPO, but something else (new) which is an internal development from an in house team.

Can't really say much about it, but I can after CES I think?

Okay, thanks! You always seem to have the inside track on those kinds of things.

Hopefully that internal development is not exactly GGPO, but maybe they use what they learned by bringing on that genius from GGPO.

Could you say that it's a good or bad thing that they are using this vs Super Turbo's solution? Probably not.. but it's worth a try! ;)

I think I've had like one disconnect in the hundred or so matches I've played. I usually host, though. And i'm playing the 360 version. I dunno what version you're playing but the PS3 version has huge problems online.

Group of friends to play with is crucial. Playing on normal can turn the whole thing into a glorified party chat with a fun but easy game to play.

I could see it taking a few months to complete the game on the highest difficulty too. That shit is brutal. Also, Random.

Left 4 Dead with friends is great.

Left 4 Dead with strangers can be...
So I was playing this last night, about 1 in the morning EST. Me and three other guys. One of the guys drops out and this little kid joins the game. He just starts running around as Zoe, shooting at Louis and yelling, "black guy! black guy! you're a black guy!" (the guy playing Louis actually WAS "a black guy!). Then he was mauled by zombies and no one would help him up.

So then his mother gets on the headset and cusses us out, saying that "he's only four years old" and "you just wouldn't heal him because he's beating you, you're getting beat by a fucking four year old."

So the guy playing Louis is like, "WTF bitch, you're letting a four year old play this game and then swearing at him, you're a terrible mother."

So she cussed us some more and then left the game.
360 version.
It takes 723752 minutes to find someone hosting if I don't feel like opening a room. 9/10 times, it's someone halfway across the world. And they lag. And use people like E. Honda where they jump in, 100 hand slap, repeat.

nice story!

Even playing with friends can be awful. I used to have this teeny bopper chick on my friends that I would play TF2 with just cause she hosted quality servers - I found out that she only plays versus and her group will kill themselves when they're playing survivors just so they can play infected sooner. Awesome. I removed her from my friends list immediately.

I probably should have done so when she was kicking people from her games if they had headsets and weren't on her team. Bitch.
I like Left 4 Dead, but I don't see myself playing it for a long period of time. Kind of glad I didn't buy it.
L4D was fun for about a week. Expert is just ... unreal. It's not one of those games where it's a fun challenge... it's just redonkulous. I sold it for retail within a week of release.

Hmm, odd about Super Turbo. Whenever I search for ranked matches I usually get 10-20 show up and I can usually host a game and get a player within a few minutes. Guess it must be different network conditions and such.

I've played a few hondas, none of them good. At least not good enough to get an Ochio Throw pattern down. Blanka players are the worst. He's so fucking fast and all they do is turtle up and use the ball if you're not blocking. I'm getting better at it, he's just so fast between the ball, the shock, and the jump in roundhouse that when you guess wrong you get a huge disadvantage. At least as chun li.

Yeah I could see frustration setting in with expert. It doesn't feel like it was a waste of time though when you've had a good, hectic time with friends. I think it's good that there's that extreme end of difficulty there to keep you coming back. Better that than it be too easy and too fast to finish everything, I say.

That's pretty much the way I feel about it now.

OT, but does anyone know how much Sony charges for a T.V. repair? Managed to get a broken 32 inch Bravia for free (very severe ghosting), so I'm going to call tomorrow and troubleshoot it, and if that fails I'd pay to get it fixed if it was in my budget ($300).

About to start P4, sooooo pumped.

i beat the first campaign on expert and it wasnt that bad...even though we died a ton of times
of course ive been waiting to play a 4 player co op shooter and l4d fits the bill perfectly so that might explain why i enjoy it more

also valve and the modding community are going to give the game infinite amounts of replayability :bouncy:

Yeah I dunno what it is, but I've probably spent a good 5-6 hours with friends playing expert on Dead Air and we get about halfway through and hit a wall..

It's always some absurd combination of boss zombies that spawn and it feels like there's nothing we could have done different to survive..

I think I'm almost done with the exposition portion of Persona 4. The beginning is slow, but the story and atmosphere are really starting to kind of wind me in. Very cool so far. :D
